Icetuft and Starthistle
It was dark and there were barely any stars that night. Icetuft walked out of Lightclan's territory and was walking deep into uncharted territory. The crickets chirped their night song and Icetuft was on high alert, if the clan ever found out about what he was doing, they would surely kill him. Icetuft was near the forest border and up ahead was another cat. It was a honey-brown she-cat with yellow eyes, white muzzle, paws, chest, belly, legs, and brown freckled spots on her body. She purred when she saw Icetuft, he smiled and ran up to her. Both cats purred and snuggled each other warmly, then looked at each other and smiled.
"It's been a long time." The she-cat meowed.
"Yes it has." Icetuft chuckled.
Both cats walked to their usual spot and sat down. The she-cat laid her head on Icetuft's chest and purred. Icetuft smiled and felt more at ease than he was in the clan. Unbeknownst to Lightclan, Icetuft had been seeing this she-cat since he was a young warrior. Now that slavery was outlawed and banned in the forest, this would be a perfect chance to ask her to join Lightclan; she would be safer there than she was in the streets. Icetuft was about to speak, but the she-cat cut him off.
"Icetuft." She meowed.
"Yes?" he meowed.
"I'm pregnant, they're your kits." She meowed.
"Really?" Icetuft meowed shocked.
Icetuft was in disbelief, it couldn't have been that long, has it? The last time they met was a few days after Dasiypetal died and Icetuft was still grieving for his dead siblings. But then again, that was a special night for the two cats. After putting the pieces and math together, Icetuft realized that the kits were his and smiled.
"That…That's great. That's wonderful!" he meowed excited.
Icetuft and the she-cat rubbed heads and purred with delight.
"I love you." Icetuft meowed.
"I love you too." The she-cat whispered.
A few moons later
A few moons had passed and Icetuft met up with the she-cat again. When they saw each other, they touched noses and Icetuft noticed that the she-cat looked heavily pregnant, but was happy nonetheless. Both cats walked to their usual spot, sat down, and looked up at the sky. Icetuft knew his family was proud of him and he looked at the she-cat with pride, but was caught off guard by the she-cat looking down and was upset.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"They…They know that I'm pregnant. They don't care but, they're asking questions." The she-cat meowed.
"Who's covering for you?" Icetuft asked.
"Blaze. He thinks they're his kits, because of our "sessions"" The she-cat whispered.
"Starthistle, maybe it's time you…" Icetuft beign.
"No. Not now, at least. I can't run that fast if I'm still pregnant, when my kits are born, I'll go." She meowed confidently.
"They're my kits too." Icetuft pointed out.
Starthistle looked down and was a bit worried. She knew what would happen to her kits if she continued staying with the rogues, but if she were to run, she would surely be caught and killed and besides, where would she go. There was Lightclan, but even if she could go there, would she be accepted? Starthistle had heard stories of rogues being discriminated in the clans and the rogues in question would probably kill a patrol just to prove a point. If Icetuft was among the casualties, then how would she live with herself? But she knew that once her kits were born, then she would leave; all she had to do was wait. Starthistle looked at Icetuft.
"Wait two more moons, Icetuft. Once our kits are born, then I'll leave, but I have only one question: will your clanmates accept me, accept us?" she asked.
"Don't worry. I know Lightstar, he's a fair leader and my clanmates are more than welcoming. In fact, our medicine cat, Cloudberry, is mates with a former loner who's also a medicine cat. Trust me, they'll be more than understanding." Icetuft assured.
"But what if they find me here, your clan wouldn't stand a chance?!" Starthistle asked worried.
"Forget them, Starthistle! I want you and our kits to be safe!" Icetuft protested.
Starthistle was surprised by Icetuft's words, but she smiled knowing that Icetuft loved her that much to risk his own life. Icetuft laid his head on top of Starthistle's.
"And besides, I'm clan deputy now." He meowed.
"Really, that's wonderful! But what happened to the last one?" Starthistle asked confused.
"He was killed in a fight with Perdyclan, a quarter moon ago." Icetuft explained sadly.
"Oh, how horrible." Starthistle meowed.
"Yeah, he was a good deputy, the whole clan will miss him, even Lightstar; he took his death the hardest. The point is, now that I'm clan deputy, no will dare judge me and my choices; except Lightstar, but like I said, he is a fair leader and he'll understand. The whole clan will understand once they hear your story." Icetuft meowed hopeful.
"I hope so." Starthistle whispered.
She laid her head on Icetuft's chest and both cats rubbed each other's furs and purred. For the rest of the night, it was just them.
"I love you." Starthistle meowed.
"I love you too." Icetuft purred.
