Glowfur and Shinefur

It's a dark night, the sky was clear and the stars sparkled more beautifully than ever. At the edge of a cliff, outside of the forest, Shinefur was sitting a few feet from the edge and was looking down. She was feeling guilt for not doing anything when that hunting party was attacked by those foxes. Glowfur had convinced her to stand aside, because he wanted to "test" the slaves that if they were to be freed, than they could handle themselves. However, Lightclaw attacking Glowfur reminded Shinefur that this was not how a clan cat should behave. If the slaves were ever freed and they made their own clan, than Lightclan should have the right to help them if necessary. Shinefur didn't know why she let Glowfur talk her into doing that, but she knew it had damaged her relationship with some of the slaves and Lightclaw. Suddenly, a bush rattled, Shinefur perked up and turned around. Glowfur came out of the bush and looked at Shinefur solemnly. Shinefur glared at him and turned around, it was bad enough that she had gotten in trouble because of him, but she was in no mood to talk to him.

"Go away, Glowfur, I don't want to talk to you." She growled.

"Oh come on, Shinefur, we need to talk about this." Glowfur meowed annoyed.

"Do we, Glowfur? You got me in trouble!" Shinefur hissed.

"Hey, you agree to let the hunting party fight on their own, so don't go blaming that on me." Glowfur growled.

"Oh really?! You convinced me! I'd say that I do blame you!" Shinefur argued.

"Still Shinefur, you still let it happen." Glowfur meowed.

Shinefur huffed in annoyance, but said nothing. Shinefur knew he was right, she did agree to let the hunting party fight the fox pack alone and she did nothing when Lightclaw and Stormeyes came and helped the hunting party. She regretted that, as she was Lightclaw's foster mother and Stormeyes's mother, it was her duty as a mother to protect her kits, no matter what and now, she had damaged her relationship with Lightclaw and may have damaged her relationship with Stormeyes. There was also the fact that she upsetted Whitestar, Kinkfoot, and a few other slaves. Shinefur's guilt was eating her up and she didn't know who to talk to, to go to, or how to fix her mistake. Glowfur signed and remembered that he had feelings for Shinefur and he may have just screwed up their relationship. They would've been mates now, had it not been Snowstar forcing Shinefur and Whitestar to be mates. Glowfur had never forgiven Snowstar for that and was the first to speak up, but Snowstar silenced him and told him that he would be punished if he interrupted her again. Glowfur regretted keeping his mouth shut, he was a fool to listen to a tyrant like Snowstar and now, his own issues and problems were affecting Shinefur. Glowfur is a supporter of the slave law or at least he thought he was, but ever since Lightclaw and Stormeyes fought with the hunting party against a pack of foxes, he had gotten a broaden perspective of things and he wondered if he ever really was a supporter of the slave law. Glowfur sighed and knew that he needed to fix things with Shinefur. He walked towards her and sat next to her.

"I'm sorry, I should've never gotten you in trouble like that. I don't know what I was thinking. I guess…I guess I was trying to be a better tom for you." Glowfur apologized.

"Oh really? How was that being a better tom?" Shinefur asked unconvinced.

"I'm a pro-slave cat, I figured you hated me for that." Glowfur explained.

"I don't hate you Glowfur, at least you're not like Crystalheart, Daisypetal, Echoshine, Moonsong, Feathershine, or Snaketooth. But why are you a slave supporter?" Shinefur asked.

"It was just the way I was raised. I wasn't comfortable with the idea of the slaves being freed, so I figured I would give them a little test." Glowfur explained.

"I can't believe I let you talk me into it, because of you, I hurt a lot of cats." Shinefur meowed.

"I know, and I'm really sorry Shinefur. Tomorrow, I will go to the slaves and tell them that I'm sorry for putting them in danger." Glowfur meowed.

Shinefur sighed. At least this was a start, but it would take a long time to let go of that incident.

"I don't know how I'm going to explain myself to Lightclaw and Stormeyes. They've always looked up to me, even when they were kits." She meowed.

"Come on Shinefur, this is Lightclaw and Stormeyes you're talking about. For all we know, they probably still hate us." Glowfur meowed.

"These are my kits you're talking about, Glowfur." Shinefur growled.

"First of all, Lightclaw's your adopted son, and second, unlike Stormeyes, Lightclaw will hold a grudge. He's always hated me, even as a kit." Glowfur argued.

"And what about Stormeyes?" Shinefur asked rhetorically.

"Stormeyes… he might forgive you." Glowfur admitted.

Shinefur sighed and flatten her ears. Glowfur had a point, Lightclaw has always been able to hold grudges. Shinefur didn't believe that Lightclaw had forgiven Whitestar, Daisypetal, Brightshine, Wolffang, Moon, and Snaketooth; however, that didn't mean that she had forgiven them either. To be honest, Shinefur had never forgiven them for what they did and for putting Lightclaw and some others in so much pain. This was going to take a long time for anyone to move on from that incident, especially those involved with the trial, but for now, Shinefur had to focus on fixing her mistake and redeeming herself to the cats she hurt. Glowfur wrapped his tail around Shinefur's paws and it did bring her a little comfort. Shinefur knew this was going to be a long road and as long as Glowfur was there, she knew this was worth fighting for and was worth it.
