Gotham City, Earth-66.

The man panted as he raced down the street. Sweat came down his brow, and his chest expanded and contracted with his breath. He kept looking behind him.

"She's after me...She's after me..." He chanted to himself like a maddened mantra. "Can't let her get me...can't let her get me..." The man ducked into an alley, and looked around in a panic. "She's not here. She's not here. Oh, thank goodness..." He closed his eyes in relief. He put his hand on his racing heart, as if it would calm it down. His breath slowed. He opened his eyes, and they ended up widening in shock.

"Hello, Martin." The woman greeted with a smirk. She was clearly a superheroine. She wore a brown outfit with a gray helmet meant to evoke an owl. The helmet was attached to a gray feathered cape. The cape had a clasp with a feather hanging from it. The main outfit resembled a brown leotard with gray leggings, elbow-length gloves, and knee-length boots. The gloves and boots had gray feathers on them, and the outfit was completed by a yellow utility belt, with the buckle having a stylized owl head on it.

"Owlwoman!" Martin gasped.

Owlwoman. Real Name: Wenonah Littlebird. Birthplace: Oklahoma City, OK. Affiliation: Justice League. Physiology: Metahuman. Powers and abilities: Night vision, superhuman senses, and gliding.

The costumed heroine sauntered towards the frightened man. "Now, you got me curious. The sight of me sent you running. Now, normally, an innocent man would have no reason to run away from someone like me. So, what got you frightened?"

"I don't know anything!" He yelped.

"Really?" Owlwoman raised an eyebrow. "Because I didn't ask you if you did."

"You got nothing on me, you wannabe Hawkwoman!" Martin snapped. Owlwoman rolled her eyes.

"Sure I don't." The Cherokee woman smirked, then punched Martin out. "I'll let the police grill you."

Wayne Manor

The Cherokee Crusader stood in the old Batcave, with her was a doughy dark-haired elderly man. He wore a pair of green slacks, black shoes, and a red sweater with a pattern of green, yellow, and black lines around the collar.

"When I was a little girl, I had wanted to be a superheroine just like the original Batgirl." Wenonah smiled. Her helmet was on a table nearby. She looked around in awe, making the old man chuckle. "I never thought I'd get to step in the old Batcave."

"I'm happy that I finally got to meet you in person, Miss Littlebird." Dick Grayson chuckled, patting a dog next to him. "I admit, I've been following your work since your debut. Both in and out of costume."

"Ah yes, my activism work." Wenonah nodded. "My people need voices to speak for them. And there are not many Native superheroes. At least, known to people in general."

"Your cause is certainly a noble one." Dick nodded. "Are you sure you don't want some refreshments or anything?"

"No, thank you. I don't want to impose." Wenonah smiled. "I just wanted to say thanks for inspiring me."

Dick smiled. "Thank you for continuing the never-ending battle. I'm sure Bruce would have loved to have met you."

That night

Wenonah was relaxing in her apartment, watching some television.

"Oh Candy, you can do so much better than Trevor..." The Cherokee woman shook her head. A knock was heard on her door. She blinked and opened the door.

Standing there was a dark-skinned woman, wearing a blue shirt and leather jacket, and a matching skirt. Her legs were covered by fishnets, and her feet had blue boots. Her hair was blonde.

"Jurnee." Wenonah blinked.

Black Canary. Real Name: Jurnee Queen. Birthplace: Gotham City, NJ. Affiliation: Justice League. Physiology: Metahuman. Powers and abilities: Hypersonic Scream, skilled martial artist.

"Hey, Wenny." The woman smiled, and they hugged.

"Is Delilah with you?" Wenonah asked.

"Naw, she's back in New York." Jurnee explained. "Huntress duties."

"Oh yeah, she took that up when her mother retired." Wenonah recalled.

"Oh, and I brought a friend." Jurnee smiled. She waved at the hall. "Come on in, Harper." Another woman walked in. She had dyed blue hair, shaved at the sides. She wore a blue domino mask, a black costume with a matching leather jacket, with a chest emblem of a blue stylized bird. The costume had black boots, a gray utility belt, and holsters with a pair of futuristic-looking taser guns in them.

Bluebird. Real Name: Harper Row. Birthplace: Gotham City, NJ. Affiliation: None. Physiology: Standard Human. Powers and Abilities: No innate superpowers. Skilled martial artist, expertise in electrical engineering and gadgetry.

"You're new." Wenonah noted.

"Yeah, I've been active a short time." Harper nodded. "You're kind of the reason for it."

"I am?" Wenonah blinked.

"Yeah." Harper nodded. She smiled. "I mainly protect the Narrows. I...wanted to do something to help after some punks beat up my little brother Cullen."

"My apologies." Wenonah said sincerely.

"He's alright, but..." Harper sighed. "They beat him up because he was gay. Shaved a slur into his head. It's why I wear my hair like this." She pointed at her head. "I...I wanted to do for him, others like him, and...myself what you do for Native folks, too. I figured being a superhero would be a way to do it."

"Being a superhero is a dangerous line of work." Wenonah warned. "And...yourself?"

"I'm bisexual." Harper said. She blushed slightly. "Your legs helped me discover that." Jurnee burst out laughing. Wenonah smiled in amusement.

"Glad I could help you on your journey of self-discovery." Wenonah chuckled warmly.

"I was pouring my heart out here!" Harper smacked Jurnee's arm.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Jurnee held her hands up in a peace gesture, trying to calm herself down. The television then blared out a newsflash.

"Police have responded to an incident at the Third National Bank!" The newscaster announced. "The supervillain known as Whiteout has made an appearance, and Gotham PD is on the scene."

Wenonah smirked at Harper. "You want to show me what you can do, kid? Here's your chance."

Some time later

"Put it in the bag!" A man clad in a white costume with a chest emblem of a large white "W" yelled as he pointed a futuristic-looking gun at a teller. He wore a white cowl with a large white floppy hat with a light blue band around the brim. The teller whimpered and shook in fear. The man growled. "What, don't you speak any blasted English?!"

KRESH!

He looked up as the glass ceiling of the bank shattered, the three heroines falling in and doing superhero landings.

"Hello, Whiteout." Owlwoman smirked.

"Oh, look." Whiteout sneered. "Lady Tonto has friends."

"Call us the Birds of Prey." Bluebird smirked.

"Birds of Prey?" Owlwoman blinked.

"Black Canary, Bluebird, Owlwoman." Bluebird explained. "You know, we all have the bird thing going."

"Birds of Prey. I like it." Canary smirked.

"Yeah, I'm gonna blast you now." Whiteout fired a white energy beam from his gun.

"Down!" Owlwoman yelled, and the three heroines dodged the energy beam. It hit a potted plant, vaporizing it. "Watch that Eraser Gun of his!" The three heroines were surrounded by men in pink.

"Take them down, my Eraser Squad!" Whiteout laughed. The pink-clad henchmen charged at the three heroines.

"Alright, Birds of Prey..." Owlwoman smirked. "Let's take these clowns down!" The three heroines charged the Eraser Squad, and...

POW!

BIFF!

WHACK!

PUNCHINNAFACE!

HARDKICK!

"Fellas, fellas, come on..." Whiteout groaned as he saw the Birds easily dispatch the Eraser Squad. "They don't make henchmen like they used to..." He glanced at his Eraser Gun. "Ah, right! I can just vaporize ya!" He pointed his gun at the three heroines.

EEEEEEEEEE!

"Agh!" The supervillain yelped and covered his ears as Canary blasted him with a sonic scream.

BUZZZZZ!

"Gyyyyyyahgrgl!" He yelped as Bluebird threw a small gray-and-blue disc at him, and the disc shocked him.

POW!

And Owlwoman finished him off with one punch to the jaw. The tellers and customers cheered the three heroines.

"We should do this more often." Canary said.

"I'm all for that." Bluebird grinned as she waved at the customers.

"I would not be against it." Wenonah smiled at her compatriots.

Wayne Manor, sometime later.

Dick Grayson watched the TV in amusement. He took in the news report about the three heroines taking down Whiteout.

"Birds of Prey, eh?" The elder ex-superhero chuckled in amusement. "Well. Things just got a lot more interesting..."

I decided to establish that Owlwoman was from Oklahoma as she's a Cherokee in the comics, and two of the three federally recognized Cherokee tribes are from Oklahoma. Her costume is a mix of one of her comics costumes and the costume of her counterpart from DC One Million.

Jurnee Queen's name is meant to homage Jurnee Smollett-Bell, who played Black Canary in the live-action Birds of Prey film. And she's meant to be the granddaughter of Oliver Queen and Dinah Lance.

Bluebird first appeared in Batman #1 (September 2011), but would not become Bluebird until Batman #28 (February 2014).

Whiteout is an original character, partially inspired by the Foolkiller. The original Foolkiller, Ross G. Everbest, first appeared in Man-Thing #3 (March 1974).
