Warnings : mentions of human trafficking

And on that note, King left, leaving Genji alone with his thoughts scrambled.

That was… intense ?

The Shimada was still recovering. He sighed, feeling his face cool down. Well, that happened. He walked up to his room subconsciously, and the ninja opened the door, flopping on his bed, face first.

His mind was blank.

Well, not really.

More like he couldn't think of something else.

He turned on his back, looking at the ceiling. He could still feel the slender fingers of Mockingbird on his chin, soft and tender. Gently holding his face up. He shook his head.

'Let's not think about it too hard.' He told himself. It was King, after all. Always the flirty one.

Always the one to give.

Genji wanted to give back, too, but didn't know how. He wasn't the man he was before… the event.

He was scary.

Bitter.

Angry.

The informant did call him pretty, though, even after seeing his scarred face. It boosted his confidence, to be called that way. He smiled softly.

Alright, time to sleep now.

He couldn't sleep.

The thought of what happened today, the woman, sure, but particularly of what happened once Cole left, still very much alive in his mind.

Unable to close his eyes and not see the masked individual.

It was annoying.

He looked at his phone, and his thumb hovered over the name "Mockingbird". Should he text him ? Should he go knock on his door ?

… He chose to text him.

Genji

Are you sleeping ?

Mockingbird

am not

y ?

Genji

I can't sleep.

Mockingbird

aww

so you texted me ?

He didn't want to answer, but… maybe he could try ?

Genji

Yes.

Mockingbird

come over then :3

What.

Mockingbird

well have a slumber party !

just the two of us

Genji

Slumber party, really ?

Mockingbird

cmon

itll be fun !

He thought for a moment.

Yeah, why not.

Genji

OK.

Sighing, he turned off his phone and looked at himself in the mirror. Oh, he didn't change clothes beforehand. Time to change that. He went up to his wardrobe and put up a t-shirt and some sweatpants, the first dark grey and the second black. Nodding to himself, he left his room, going to the area where King was.

Once he arrived, he knocked softly on the door, then waited. He heard some shuffling around then the doorway opened right up to show the same Mockingbird that he saw back a few hours ago.

He didn't know what he expected. Something more casual, maybe ? The intel provider looked like he hadn't even tried sleeping.

"Welcome to my humble abode, kitten~" He welcomed, opening the door some more and stepping aside gracefully, letting him in.

The Shimada stepped inside, looking around. This was a guest room, but he could see a computer set up in the corner. It was powered on with some files displayed. The ninja couldn't decipher what was written on it.

"Why couldn't you sleep ?" The masked individual questioned, tilting his head.

He really acted like a bird.

"Thoughts…" He wanted to add more, but hesitated.

"Bad ?"

"Not really." He simply answered, not really knowing if the reflections were 'bad'. "They were mainly about what happened today." That wasn't a lie.

"Yeah, I think about them a lot, too. Trying to figure out a way to get them out, or to prove the trafficking."

"Any luck ?"

"Not yet…" Mockingbird sighed, looking down.

"You're being too hard on yourself," Genji said, frowning.

"If I can't help then who can ?" Stated the informant.

"Blackwatch." King didn't answer for a while. Then he sat down on the bed, taking his head into his hands.

"You don't get it."

"Then explain." The silence was tense. He was about to say that the bird didn't have to, but he spoke before he could say anything.

"I was in that situation, too. A long time ago." The cyborg's stomach dropped. He understood now. "No one came to save me. I had to save myself." A heavy sigh. "I did what I needed to survive but…"

"It still haunts you." Genji finished. The lack of answer from King was loud.

Genji wondered how the informant could stay so happy all the time with this sort of past. He sat next to the caped man, unsure of what to do. The person next to him scooted closer and put his head on the shoulder of the cyborg. Said cyborg froze, but didn't make a move to go away.

He figured he just needed comfort.

Slowly, he put his arm around the shoulders of the masked individual, gently pulling him closer.

They stayed like this for a while, for how long Genji didn't know and didn't care. The touch was nice, and he surprised himself numerous times leaning into it.

Was he that touch-starved ?

It was kinda sad, if he had to be honest.

After another moment, Mockingbird scooted a bit away silently. He looked at the agent next to him, and said softly, barely above a whisper :

"Thank you, kitten."

"I didn't do anything."

The informant shook his head, as if amused.

"You did much more, but I'll let you have your fantasy."

Let him have his fantasy, huh ? What was that supposed to mean ?

He felt the weight of the bed shift, and King laid down on the bed. Looking at the Shimada, he tapped the space right next to him.

"C'mon. C'mere."

Hesitantly, he shifted closer and put himself at a respectful distance from the informant, which made the latter laugh.

"You're really fucking entertaining, you know that ?" He questioned, looking at the cyborg, a smile in his voice.

"What is that supposed to mean ?" He didn't get an answer, if only for a stare.

And they stared at each other for a while.

"Were you really that jealous of us ?" Asked the bird.

"What do you mean ?"

"Of cherry talking to me, interacting with him instead of you." He explained.

"...Yes."

"You're pretty possessive." He giggled. "It's cute, if not a bit concerning. You looked like you wanted to murder us. I genuinely thought I somehow did something very wrong there."

"...Sorry."

"Is it ok now ? Your jealousy ?"

He thought for a bit, then nodded, feeling the heat in his face.

"You thought back about what I did at the cafeteria ?" There it was. The teasing.

"I didn't expect it."

"Surely hope you didn't, or else I would've to step up my game." He wanted to see that, but also… Not. That was enough flustering for him.

"Please don't." A laugh answered him.

It was nice, having someone close to him again, without having to worry too much.

"Aww, you won't be able to keep up ? I understand, not everyone's up to the challenge~" King teased, moving closer.

"You're enough of a phenomenon now."

"Oof, that hurts."

A moment of silence, and they just looked at one another, waiting for the other to move.

Genji didn't want to go.

"You should probably get your beauty sleep, pretty boy."

But if he had to, he guessed he could go. He sat up, nodding.

"Yeah. Sleep well." He stood up, but at the whine of the masked man, he turned with a questioning gaze.

"I'm not getting a good night kiss ?" He lamented.

He couldn't tell if he was teasing or not. He felt his cheeks burn.

"Uh-"

A laugh, loud and bright.

"You should see your face, kitten."

"Would you stop teasing me ?" He asked. He couldn't really keep up, he could hear his own heartbeat.

"You're too fun for that~" He sighed, then averted his eyes. "Aw, are you mad at me ?" He didn't answer. "Promise, I'll tone down the teasing and flirting. Just don't be too mad at me." His friend said, almost in a begging tone.

He looked back at him, then nodded.

"Thank you, kitten."

And then he left the room, still a linger of heat on his face.
