HELLOOOO EVERYBODYYYYY! Nice you see you again... well actually not really because I can't... you get the point lol.
Well I guess this is Chapter 2, currently I haven't even uploaded the first chapter yet and I'm already starting a second chapter. Personally if I'm being honest I never thought I'd enjoy writing as much as I do.
And I'd like to thank everyone for the support so far, it doesn't go unnoticed believe me :)
Though this chapter I may or may not need a lot of opinions due to the fact that Adam's magic might be shown and I'm curious to how people feel about it as I came up with it myself.
But enough introductions let's get into this Chapter shall we.
DISCLAIMER: I do not own any Fairytail or any characters outside of my Original Characters.
Chapter 2: The Representative
Magnolia Train Station
It has been 2 days since Adam's meeting with the Magical Council. He had spent the following days home in Iris with his mother and father before heading off to Magnolia where he's current assignment was located. Emotions more prevalent than anger or frustration filled his body at the thought of being away from the Guardian Unit. Though he had no choice in the matter.
Adam is currently exiting the train station of Magnolia, unlike last time however he doesn't have a small bag with him. Instead he actually has a suitcase with him though it is fairly big. "Yeah im not carrying this around all day."
He opens his his pounch with his book in it. As he opens the pouch the book starts to levitate directly in front of him and opens.
"First Pentacle of Saturn: Transmutation." The book has a deep purple magic color to it flipping through pages before stopping on. Adam extends his right hand to his suitcase as a purple magic circle with the alchemic symbol for Saturn is in the middle.
He starts to twist his hand clockwise aiming at the suitcase as it starts to distort and transforms into a small coin. Once the spell is over he simply picks up the coin and places it in his pocket. The book levitates itself back into the pouch by itself.
Adam finally takes a deep breath in and looks around once he's outside. The sound of civilians talking, magic mobiles running filled his ears instantly. The city definitely had a voice of its own that was certain.
"Seems like a nice place actually, I can't imagine a guild like the council described being in a place like this." Adam says out loud to himself.
A group of three girls passes him and he calls out to them,"Hello excuse me." He says loud enough so even if they don't think he's talking to them they would still look as to why he was being so loud.
"Yeah how can I help you?..." One of them says acting very weary of Adam which he picks up on but ignores. "Do any of you know where I can reach the Fairytail guild? I've never been there before so I'm forced to ask for directions."
Another points at a road behind Adam. "See that road it's Magnolia's central path go up and it'll lead you straight to it. Though they're currently rebuilding so you won't see it until it's right in front of your face."
Adam nods and bows to them. "Thank you very much, have a good day." He says to the three girls as they nod and continue along their way as Adam turns around and begins walking to the road and looking up.
He sees that the central path is at the very minimum five to six kilometers long from start to finish in both directions. Looking in the direction he won't be walking estimates he's a little under half the distance so the walk to the guild hall shouldn't take that long.
But even with the optimal conditions of not having to walk to full distance doesn't stop his inner laziness to rise to the surface. "Yeah... I really don't feel like walking a mile..." Adam says looking straight down the path he's supposed to be walking.
Once again he opens the pouch as the book levitates infront of him as Adam doesn't cast a spell right away put instead pauses. "If only it was Sunday..." He says thinking to himself out loud. "But I that spell should work in this case." He says.
"Fourth Pentacle of Jupiter: Balance."
Adam cast the spell and the books pages rapidly flip through each other before stopping. When it stops an indigo magic circle appears under him with the alchemic symbol for Jupiter in the middle before fading away.
Once the spell is complete Adam feels how light is body is as he does some light hops getting used to the effects of the spell. He then looks around for tallest nearby building.
"That's should be good enough." He says as he walks towards the building. When he gets directly in front of it he doesn't stop walking as he begins to walk upright scaling the building.
Once he gets to a desirable height for himself he looks out towards the coast and can actually see the Fairytail guild hall being reconstructed at that moment.
He extends both arms to the building keeping him in place as he crouches down spins his body around so he is chest is facing the direction of the Guild Hall.
"Here goes nothing." He says as he starts to prepare himself mentally and physically, his lower body start to tense up and flex before he jumps from the building with all his strength which sends him flying through the air in the direction of the Guild.
Adam smiles while he's flying happy he avoided the obstacle of having to walk there though realizing how much of a waste of magic this is in retrospect. Watching the guild hall get closer and closer while he's soaring and slowly descending through the air decides he should probably stop a little in front of it.
The book which hasn't left Adam's side since he used the spell as is still open covered his the indigo magic aura closes as Adam begins to fall. Bracing himself for the landing Adam lands of the ground unscathed.
He dusts his pants off that were caught in the initial dust that was made during the landing. The book proceeds to hover in front of Adam before he grabs it and puts it back in his pouch, the magic circle appears under him again before fading away.
From a distance he can hear three people approaching him as he looks up to see them. Two girls and one guy, the guy is very tall and muscular with bronze like skin and white spiky hair sticking up. He's wearing a matching blue set of a shirt and pants.
One girl has the guys white hair but it's very long and wavy. She's wearing a red and pick dress and the other girl has long brown hair and for some reason is wearing nothing more than a blue bra and almost a dark amber is color pants.
Though he notices the guild insignia on both the guy and the girl with the brown hair from a distance so he knows they're members of Fairytail.
"I'm not gonna lie Elfman, when you said you saw somebody flying towards the Guild Hall... I didn't think you were serious." The girl with brown hair says.
"What would a man get out of lying?" The one she called Elfman responded. "Should I be friendly in the situation or act authoritative..." Adam begins thinking to himself.
"Hello." The girl with the white hair says as they finally reached an appropriate talking distance to Adam. Before Adam can even respond to her greetings the girl with brown hair stops him before his mouth could even open.
"Is there some reason you're flying in the direction of our Guild, right now isn't really the best time for that if you haven't noticed." She says with a little aggression slipping out her voice towards Adam who mentally smiles.
"Is your Guild Master around? I have an important message for him by the Magic Council." Adam says with a serious voice to her. Their eyes meet both clearly sizing the other up not wanting to back down to the other.
Mirajane quickly intervenes feeling the tension that is starting to be built upon by the two. "Yes Master is around here somewhere, I can bring you to him if you want."
"That would be very much appreciated." Adam states bowing to her as Mirajane smiles and starts walking over to the Guild construction site. Adam follows while passing Cana and Elfman he whispers to her. "That's what manners looks like."
Cana instantly gets furious over the comment and takes out her cards hearing that as fighting words. "Hey you mind repeating that buddy?!" She yells at him but Elfman puts his hands on her shoulders and shakes his head.
He leans in to her ears to whisper. "If he's really here with the council maybe it's not the best decision to start an altercation." Elfman says in a calm voice also glaring at the Vice Captain. They then look and each other and nod before following behind Adam and Mirajane back to construction site.
Upon them all arriving a lot of the members look over at Adam wondering who he is, though he doesn't pay them any mind and just looks around. "Has anyone seen the Master?" Mirajane ask to anyone who happens to be listening to her.
A woman with long scarlet red hair currently carrying a log of wood on her shoulder wearing what Adam can only describe as a construction workers outfit walks over to Mirajane.
"The Master is out back that way." She says to Mirajane using her thumb to point back behind her. "Who's your friend you got here?"
"I'm here on behave of the Magic Council and I'm delivering a message to your Master." Adam says calmly as the red head nods.
A strange sensation is felt by Adam as he quickly dashing to the side a couple of feet. Thankfully he listened to his instincts as he looks over to where he was just standing and sees a pink haired male with his hands on fire just where he was. "Damn he's good."
Adam thinking he's going to have to fight this guy for whatever reason is... shocked for lack of better words at the scene that plays out in front of him.
"Natsu... what the... HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" The woman with the scarlet hair says before taking the log she was carrying and using it to hit him with it.
Natsu goes flying until he ends up going through wall aand all the rubble falls ontop of him, the only thing that can be heard from him is moans of pain. Suddenly a flying blue cat lands ontop of the rubble clearly amused by what happened.
"Erza one, Natsu zero." The cat says laughing. Erza puts her hand in her face shaking her head. "Hey jackass now we gotta rebuild that wall! What's your problem?!" Another male shouts at Natsu but for whatever reason he's only wearing shorts.
"Gray your clothes." A blonde haired girl says to him shaking her head. The blue cats looks at Gray. "I told him not to do anything but he wouldn't listen."
"Do you not have any self control at all?" Gray says to Natsu as he's still underneath all the rubble. "Gray shut up... too loud." Is all that be heard from Natsu still clearly messed up by the attack from Erza.
Erza walks over to Adam and immediately bows before apologizing. "I hope you can forgive us for him, he's an idiot." She says plainly as Adam nods.
"It's fine there was no harm done and no need to be so formal." Adam says still fairly processing everything he just witness though the flying and talking cat is taking the majority of his processing.
"What is going on over here?" The sound of an old man says as Adam turns around to see a short old man walking over to them. "Master I was just going to look for you." Mirajane says.
"Hey I think I've seen him before..." Adam and Makarov both think to themselves looking at each other. "You have a visitor from the Council here to speak to you." Mirajane continues.
"Would you mind if we speak in private sir?" Adam says to Makarov as he nods. "Follow me." He says as he starts to walk back towards where he came from.
"I'll be back again shortly." He says to the Guild as Adam is walking besides him. They both leave the Guild compound and are walking through the small Forest behind the Guild.
"So I'm assuming this is bad?" Makarov asks Adam while they're walking. "Well not really honestly it depends on what you consider bad."
"Hmmm I see." Makarov says thinking. The two walk in silence for a couple of seconds before they reach a cliff area where you can see the ocean for miles on end.
Adam stops walking taking in the sight as he's never been to a coastal cliff area before. Though Makarov keeps walking until he gets to the edge before sitting down.
"Come on now, don't tell me you've never seen a coastal cliff before." Makarov says loud enough for him to hear. Adam snaps out of it and walks over to where he is before sitting next to him.
"No I actually I haven't, I'm assuming you come here regularly it's very peaceful." Adam says as the breeze from the sea hits them.
"Yes with these knucklehead children I need a relaxer once and awhile." Makarov says staring out the sea. "By the way what's your name son?" He asks.
"Adam. Adam Alastair." He responds back as Makarov smiles nodding. "Yes I see..." Makarov says before smiling.
"You're Org's grandson am I correct?" Makarov says looking to Adam as he nods. "Yes I thought you looked familiar, you were only a child when I first saw you. Amazing how much time can pass."
"Honestly when I saw you back there I had a feeling that I've recognized you from somewhere though I have no memory of ever meeting you before." Adam explains to him as Makarov laughs.
"Funny we must have had the same thought in mind then." He states and the two smile. "So son what brings you over to Fairytail?" He asks.
"Honestly a better question is how long I'm gonna be with Fairytail." Adam says exhaling as Makarov looks at him with a very confused face by his statement.
"What do you mean?" He asks him.
"Well that's why I'm here, the council voted that Fairytail is out of control their words not mine. So they wanted me to be some kind of representative or lawyer?... Truly I don't even know what to call it. But their basic hopes is that with my presence here Fairytail would be more orderly or compliant with whatever it is they have a problem with you guys for." Adam tries to explain to Makarov.
"They assigned me because they all personally know me minus those 2 new members and know that I speak to truth and won't be scared off by your guild because apparently no average person could even come close doing the task they ask of me."
"Hmmm that's very peculiar I will admit..." Makarov says before pausing to think. "So would you be legally considered a member of Fairytail? Because it sounds like this position of yours doesn't have a set an stone end date in mind and you may need to find work for money and shelter."
Adam actually never considered that. "I mean... I guess. Honestly I don't think money is so much of a problem, the salary of a Vice Captain for the Rune Knights is good enough that I could live pretty comfortable if I wanted too."
"Yeah living comfortably is pretty expensive in Magnolia cannot lie to you there." Makarov says. "If you're going to stay here I'd recommend becoming a legal member, you don't have to get the guild insignia on your body if you don't want to I won't mind."
Adam thinks about it before nodding. "You're taking this a lot calmer and better than I expected if I'm being honest."
"Well there really isn't anything I can do about it can I, if they already voted on it then I guess there isn't much I can do. Besides I can tell you're a good person so I'd have no problems having you around, you might even be a good influence on some of them actually." Makarov says.
Before Adam can reply the book he carries flys out with a white glow around it and starts spinning through pages back and fourth. Adam sighs in annoyance,"What are you doing now?"
Makarov looks at the book simultaneously interested and confused. "Is that a grimoire of some sorts?"
"Yeah it literally has a mind of itself. If you've ever heard of the Ancient Relics of Solomon, well this is his Grimoire." Adam explains to him as Makarov stands up surprised.
"Really?! Your joking! The King Solomon?!" He asks now extremely surprised but Adam nods his head. The book lands on a blank page before Runes appear in the book making a sentence of some sorts.
Makarov and Adam both look at the runes though only one of them can actually read them. "So what exactly is it doing?"
"On occasion... well actually I should probably explain this first. Before he died he and his disciples did a crazy powerful enhancement of his personality in the book because he never finished writing it and didn't want his wisdom to go to waste. So occasionally he'll add more text to it or just simply send messages to me. The book is constantly growing so he'll never run out of pages to add or just simply talk shit to me before removing it." Adam says annoyed towards the end.
Makarov is speechless at the lost magic in front of him. "So what does it say now?" He asks him as the runes finally stop being made as Adam reads the full sentence in his head.
"It's says, The path of isolation is one that many beings can't bring themselves to. It that does is an anomaly, though the path will intersect with that of community which is essential to all beings. If light needs darkness to exist how about you." Adam finishes.
Makarov nods understanding the message behind it. "Very wise indeed." Adam rolls his eyes as the book closes and falls in front of him in his hands before he puts it back in his pouch.
"On my way here I kept thinking about how much I didn't really want to be here..." He starts before quickly realizing what he said and looks at Makarov shaking his hands really fast.
"Please no offense to you or anyone in your Guild." The young man says extremely quickly hoping he didn't offend him.
"It's alright my boy, take your time no offense taken I promise. Speak your mind." Makarov says listening. Adam nods relaxing again before continuing.
"I just don't make connections with people easily and have almost little desire to if I'm being honest. And I'm aware of how you and everyone in your guild treat each other like family which is nice and all... but it's not really like that all sunshine and rainbows for me all the time and I don't want to bring that negative energy here." Adam says staring out into the vast sea.
"You know why I like the Rune Knights so much?" Adam asks Makarov who just stays silent looking at him sitting back down next to him.
"There everyone has a job to do nobody is super close with anyone not even me and my Captain. That's not to say we're all just robots but..." Makarov cuts him off.
"I think I'm following with what you're getting at, there's no time to build connections when you have an important job to do." Makarov says as Adam nods.
"My whole life I've been expected to be a certain way and do certain things. At the age of fourteen I was a Division Commander for no other reason than because at 14 my mother was a full out Captain. It's always you're an Alastair you have to do this and that, can't be like this... I was rarely around kids my age I was put in the lions den and was forced to survive." Adam explains rolling his eyes.
"Anyway sorry I tend to ramble when I start talking sometimes, the point is I really don't think I'm a proper fit for this assignment or whatever it is to call it." Adam finally finishes saying.
Makarov plays with his mustache processing everything being said. "You know we have a member named Mystogan he has a similar dilemma to yours in the fact that he doesn't like having bonds in the sense. But in an ironic twist of events while during our... scrimmage with phantom he was out dealing with their other forty plus other headquarters without anyone giving him any orders. He did it simply because he cares for everyone in the Guild even though most of them have never seen him once."
"Like I said earlier I know you're a good person that much is evident, you might really grow to enjoy being here. Just like your Grimoire was trying to explain if you don't want to grow any attachment or friendships with the guild members that's fine but don't deny part of your humanity just because it's what you're used to. At the end of the day we're all human." Makarov says before standing up again.
Adam stands up as well taking a deep breath regaining his composure. "Sorry I really didn't mean to dump all of that on you just now."
Makarov shakes his head. "No need to apologize. My children come to me for all sorts of different things. Listening is one of my better qualities." He says to Adam with a big grin on his face.
Adam smiles looking at him. "Maybe this place won't be so bad after all." Makarov makes a gesture for Adam to follow him as they make their way back to the guild.
Upon their arrival back they find the majority of the guild members working. Makarov coughs trying to get everyone's attention as most of them stop to look at them and those who didn't immediately quickly follow the others giving Makarov their full attention.
"I'd like to introduce Adam Alastair, he will be staying with us for awhile and I'd like you all to treat him with the outmost respect." Makarov says as a few members starts whispering among themselves.
"I'm pretty sure I've heard that name somewhere."
"I overheard him talking with Erza he's with the council."
"I mean he is wearing an ankh necklace."
A lot more comments can be heard as Adam just looks around. "Enough!" Erza says as all of the side talking instantly stops.
"The master gave an order to treat him with respect so I expect you all do follow and do so." Erza says as everyone is silent was she walks to Adam extending her hand.
"Don't mind them here everyone is treated like family. My name is Erza." She says as Adam smiles extending his own hand as they shake hands. "It's a pleasure to meet you Erza."
"Natsu! Happy! Here this instant!" Erza shouts in their direction. Natsu and Happy rush over and stand next to Erza as Adam is starting to notice Erza must be one of the more high ranking people in the guilds social hierarchy as everyone seems to listen to her like a Division Commander.
"I want the both of you to apologize to Adam for the little stunt you pulled earlier." Erza says sternly as Happy is the first to complain.
"But I didn't do anything, it's all Natsu's fault anyway." Happy says pointing to Natsu who rubs the back of his head grinning.
Listening to Erza, Natsu actually apologizes. "Hey man my bad for earlier, I just had a crazy hunch that you were really strong and just wanted to fight!" He says very energetically grinning at him.
"Oh you're a fight junkie huh? You actually remind me of one of my subordinates, if it's a fight your looking for I'm happy to oblige." Adam says to Natsu.
Natsu's eyes light up with excitement. "But just not here or today, I'd rather not cause any damages to your guilds reconstruction."
Natsu nods still smiling and Makarov just looks at Adam briefly before walking away and going to sit ontop of a few stacked boxes. Mirajane ends up walking over to the master standing next to him.
"So how did it go?" Mirajane asks Makarov. The old man puts his head on the chin holding his head just looking at Adam introduce and greet himself with the rest of the Guild.
"I didn't tell him about the letter Org sent." He responds to Mirajane who looks at him confused. "Why?" She asks.
"I was never going to in the first place, after all the letter was just him saying that Adam can be reserved and closed off at times. Which is primarily his fault to begin with and that him being here is a chance for him to grow and actually make genuine connections with people." Makarov says looking at Adam.
"The boy knows this already though his position might be temporary here as our representative, Org hopes him being here can help his grandson start doing and finding what his heart truly follows whether that be continuing in his family footsteps or not is up to him. But being around our group of knuckleheads can break his shell." He finishes as Mirajane nods understanding.
"Well I think he'll end up liking it here though." Mirajane says smiling, Makarov nods agreeing. "Yes I believe so too."
A/N: Ok this is another chapter done. I hope you all enjoyed now I realized in the beginning that I said I was going to reveal Adam's magic which I did to an extent. But his magic is very complicated so I've really only scratched the surface of it if I'm being honest.
The next couple of Chapters though will play into the mini introduction arc I have going on which is basically a bunch of Adam just socializing really getting to know and get a feel for Fairytail. Because let's be honest if you were dropped in the Fairytail Guild it would take a little to get used to.
But next chapter will be better chapter magic wise for Adam. Once again leave a review if you can all forms of criticism is taken here, no hurt feelings on this side ;)
Until next time.
