The Game of Thrones, from Follard's Fairy Tales
Once upon a time, there was a great big kingdom, with lots of many nobles who did not like each other. The king had died, and everyone wanted to be the next ruler of the realm. Instead of being peaceful about it, the many different houses of the land each fought each other, trying to take the throne for themselves.
One house, the house of gold and lions, managed to take the throne, but a mean little prince became king, and he was not a nice king. The people moaned under his rule, and everyone was unhappy with the mean little prince.
Meanwhile, in a land far away there lived a forgotten princess, who had to flee her homeland she was married to a powerful man, who led his many horse clans across vast open plains. At first, the little princess did not like her husband, but as time grew on, they grew to love and care for each other.
Across the sea the little mean king died, and no one mourned his loss. But to choose who would be the next monarch, the many houses all came to the capitol, and decided to play a great game, a game of throne. Each house faced off against an opponent, and as the day went on only a few were left. The house of snow and wolves faced off against the house of gold and lions, but just as the two were about to finish their game, the lost princess burst in!
Surprising everyone, she challenged the young prince to the game. The young prince, who had just won against the house of little wolves, agreed, and so the two played one final game. It was long and tense, but the pale-haired princess finally managed to have the prince at checkmate. But, then, she realized she didn't really want to be queen. She didn't really want anything else than what she already had. So, surprising everyone, the princess conceded, and returned to her husband to live her days out in that strange land. and the younger brother to the king became the new ruler.
And so the new king, with his bride, began a new reign in the kingdom, establishing peace and prosperity for all. The houses returned to their lands and all was right again. Even in the north, the outcast of the house of wolves lived free with his bride across the Wall, while the people of the land rejoiced as a new era began.
And they all lived happily ever after.
(Well, except for that nasty little snow zombie king. No one like him and he wound up dead and no one cared)
A short, simple, and hopefully sweet. This is, as can be guessed, heavily based upon Grimm's Fairy Tales, which I decided to use to ruminate on a possible future of Westeros. I have posted this chapter in conjunction with my other story, Tale of Stories, which was just updated today. I suggest you check it out. Otherwise, thank you and enjoy.
