In Sonic's world, Eggman unleashes an evil named entity Dark Gaia by splitting Mobius into pieces. Not only that, but Sonic gains a new transformation, and Rei has a horrific vision of Dark Gaia. Chapter 4: Temple of Gaia: Rooftop Rumble

Earth,Tokyo,Azubu-Juuban district…

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU STILL COULDN'T FIND HER?!" An angry voice boomed throughout the entire Azubu-Juuban complex. Standing in the door way was Kenji Tsukino, who did not look too happy. In fact, he was downright pissed. He was hunched over, with veins appearing on his forehead and neck as he seethed angrily. Standing outside were too policemen who were cowering as Kenji glowered at them. Inside of the apartment, Shingo hid behind Ikuko, who gaped as she watched her husband invoke his wrath upon the two policemen.

One of them gulped as he said. "W-We're sorry Tsukino-san...b-b-but we still couldn't f...find any sings of y-your d...daughter."

The other nodded weakly. "W-We looked everywhere-"

"LIKE HELL YOU DID!" Kenji roared as he was ready to lunge at the police officers, who braced themselves for a beating, but was held back by his wife Ikuko.

"K-Kenji, dear! Please, calm down!" Ikuko pleaded as she held her husband back.

"NO! I WILL NOT CALM DOWN!" Kenji freed himself from her grasp and glared at her. "USAGI'S BEEN MISSING FOR TWO WHOLE DAYS!" he points a finger at the two policemen. "AND THESE LAZY BASTARDS STILL COULDN'T FIND A SINGLE TRACE OF HER! WHAT KIND OF OFFICERS ARE THEY?!"

The two officers look down in shame and Shingo slowly backs away nervously. Growling, Kenji grabs them by their collar and pulls them to eye level. They held their breath as his eyes bored into theirs.

"I swear, if you swines don't find my daughter in the next hour, I'M GONNA-"

"THAT IS ENOUGH!" A voice boomed forth that made Kenji's heart stop. Looking over his shoulder, he saw his wife giving him an icy cold stare that sent a shiver down his spine.

"Kenji," Ikuko spoke sternly. "Release those officers at once."

"B-But Ikuko-"

"NOW!"

Yelping, Kenji nods rapidly and lets go of the two officers, before backing away from the door in a hurriedly fashion. Ikuko breathes deeply through her nose to calm herself down and walks up to the policemen, who looked at her with guilt.

"We're terribly sorry Tsukino-san," The first one apologized, taking off his cap. "We've searched every where in the entire city, yet we couldn't find even a single trace of your daughter."

"We even sent out an entire search party," The second one added before sighing. "I feel ashamed to call ourselves officers. If you hold this against us...then we won't blame you."

Ikuko said nothing, she just kept staring at the two policemen, her face blank and expressionless. They both cast their eyes to the ground, expecting her to yell at them. But then, they both felt a hand on their shoulder. Looking up, they saw Ikuko smiling a them, kindly.

"No need to fret officers," Ikuko said warmly. "I don't hold it against you, you both did what you could to look for our daughter."

The two officers look at her with surprise. Even Shingo and Kenji were shocked.

"And I'm sure my husband and son doesn't hold it against you either," She turns to look at them with a sweet smile. "Right boys?"

Letting out a yelp, they both nod as they said.

"N-No, of course not dear!"

"N-Not at all Mom!"

"Good," Ikuko smiled before turning back to the policemen. "But if you do manage to find our daughter, please let us know."

Feeling their spirits lifted up, the two officers stood straight up and gave out a salute.

"Fear not Tsukino-san! We will not rest until your daughter is found!"

Ikuko giggles. "That's all I needed to hear,"

"Take care Tsukino-san!" They bowed before leaving.

"Take care officers!" Ikuko called out as she watched them leave before closing the door. As soon as it was closed, a tense silence fell upon them. Her bright smile was replaced with a distressed frown, with her shoulders tense and bangs shadowing her eyes. Kenji took a few steps forward and reached for her shoulder, hoping to comfort her, but the moments he touched her she turned in forbearance.

"Kenji," She spoke evenly. "I'd like to be alone for now."

In spite of feeling stung by her rejection, he let her go. Both he and his son Shingo watched her go up the stairs towards her room. As soon as Ikuko enters her room, she closes the door and leaned back against it. And then...she sniffled as tears welled up in her eyes. The truth is, she was just as upset as Kenji was. Usagi had been missing for two long days. She and her husband called the police department to send out a search party to look for her daughter. Yet despite their efforts, they weren't able to find her. As Ikuko sobbed, she buries her face in her hands and slide her back against the door to sit down on the carpet floor.

'Usagi...where are you?'

Mobius, Mazuri...

BGM: Sonic Unleashed Ost- "Eggman Boss"

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

"KYAH!

"WHAA!"

"WHOA!"

Sonic, Moon, Mars, and Mercury yelp as they narrowly dodged the bombs and guided missiles that the Egg Beetle launched at them while Venus and Jupiter were swinging from the vines, waiting for the perfect time to strike. Eggman, who's inside the Egg Beetle, laughs at them mockingly.

"Ah, you unsuspecting little fools! My Egg Beetle's claws will tear you to shreds!"

Sonic narrows his eyes. "We'll see about that Egghead!"

As soon as the mech flexed it's pinchers tear its enemies to shreds, Sonic and the Inner Senshi saw an opening.

"NOW!"

Taking the opportunity, Sonic jumps in the air and CLANK! Launches a homing attack that sent the behemoth battle-mech flying several feet back. The girls began to counterattack as well.

"BURNINIG MANDALA~!"

"SHINE AQUA ILLUSION~!""

"SILVER MOON CRYSTAL POWER KISS~!"

BOOM!

All of their attacks struck the battle-mech simultaneously and sent it reeling back even further, tumbling across the Mazuri bridge. Once it recovered, Eggman started to fuming inside of it, the robot mimicking his movements.

"RRRRRAAUGH! You little!" The mad scientist seethed angrily. The Egg Beetle started charging its pinchers as it began emitting flaming orange energy.

"TAKE THIS!"

The mech's pinchers spins rapidly like a drill and launches it at Sonic and the Inner Senshi, the latter jumping in the air to avoid being skewered.

"Bombs away!"

Eggman launches even more missiles and Sonic uses his lightning fast reflexes to evade them. Jupiter and Venus saw the missiles zeroing in on them and they kick them back at the Egg Beetle.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

"AUGH!" Eggman cried from the impact. But the assault does not end there. Then Sailor Jupiter and Venus swing towards it with a vine and CLONK! They deliver a powerful double kick that sent the Egg Beetle flying through the air. The Egg Beetle looked severely damaged and had smoke emitting from it.

"Sailor Mars! Now!" Venus shouts from the trees.

"Let's finish this!" Mars declares as she summons a fiery bow. Eggman's eyes go wide out of shock and disbelief upon seeing this.

'WHAT?!'

"MARS FLAME SNIPER~!" The Martian soldier bellows, shooting the fiery projectile at her target, setting it on fire and causing it to malfunction.

"I'll never forget this!" Eggman yells in defeat as he escaped into his hover craft before the Egg Beetle explodes.

KA-BOOM!

After the explosion, Sonic, Sailor Moon, Mars, and Mercury stop running while Venus and Jupiter land next to them.

"Heh, same as ever, all bark and no bite!" Sonic jeered, high-fiving Sailor Mars, Jupiter, and Venus.

BGM End

Later...

Sometime later, they walked across the bridge in search for the Gaia Temple. Just then Chip peeks over the edge and saw something in the distance.

"Look!" He called out, pointing downward. Sonic and the Inner Senshi walked up to him and looked down to where he was pointing. What they saw was a large temple surrounded by trees.

"Is that the Temple of Gaia?" Sonic wondered out loud.

"It has to be," Mercury said in a matter-of-fact tone.

"Well what are we waiting for? Let's go check it out!" Venus suggested. Everyone looked and nodded to each other before jumping down towards the temple. Once they got inside the temple, they looked around. Inside was rather dim, but they were still able to see. Chip was sitting on Sonic's head, but he didn't mind at all.

"Whoa...awesome!" Chip gaped, looking at his surroundings.

"It's beautiful...!" Mercury said in awe.

"Sure is," Jupiter smiled.

"What is this place?" Sonic ponders as he looks around.

"This is just like the Indiana Jones movies~!" Venus squealed in admiration, her blue eyes sparkling.

"ECHO~!" Sailor Moon shouted, her voice echoing through the temple. The blond giggles.

"Ooh! Let me try!" Chip clears his throat and shouts. "ECHO~!"

His voice echoes through the temple as well.

"Oh brother," Mars rolled their eyes at their immaturity while Venus, Mercury, and Jupiter giggled in amusement and Sonic chuckles, shaking his head. Both Sailor Moon and Chip saw a pedestal in the distance that was right in the middle of the temple.

"Hey guys!" Chip called out, pointing to the pedestal. "There's something weird here, right in the middle!"

He flew over to the pedestal, with Sailor Moon following him, to inspect it, and saw a small hole in the middle.

"Hey, what's this hole?" Chip pondered.

"Don't know," The Odango-haired girl responded, leaning in for a closer look.

"GUYS! DON'T!" yelled Sailor Mars.

"WAIT!" Sonic called out to the two. "There could be some kind of-!"

Suddenly, the temple began to shake, causing everyone to stumble a bit.

"W-What's going on?!" Jupiter questioned.

"It's a booby trap!" Venus exclaimed.

"Whoa! Wha-?! HEY!"

"KYAAAA~!EARTH QUAKE! EARTH QUAKE!" Frightened, both Sonic and Sailor Moon both quickly got out of the way and hid behind Sonic and Sailor Mars. The Martian soldier raises her fist and BONK! She brought it down right on Sailor Moon's skull, which caused her to yelp in both surprise and pain as a large, steaming bump formed on her forehead.

"Owww~!" Sailor Moon cried as she held her swollen forehead, looking up to glare at Sailor Mars, who glared at her in return. "What was that for?!"

"For being an idiot!" Mars barked. "You two could've triggered a booby trap!"

"You didn't have to hit me you big meanie!"

"BLEEEEEEEGH~!" The two stuck out their tongues at each other.

Jupiter sighs in exasperation. "Alright you two, knock it off!" she said, separating the two.

"Guys, look!" Venus called out, pointing to the pedestal. They look to see a smaller pedestal emerge from it. With caution, everyone walks up to the pedestal and looks down at it.

"What is that?" Jupiter wondered.

"You don't think...?" Mercury turns to Sonic and says. "Sonic-kun! Put one of the Chaos Emeralds in the pedestal."

Nodding, Sonic pulls out one of the black Chaos Emeralds and placed it into the hole in the pedestal. Just then, it suddenly sparkled to life and rose into the air, its energy and colors being restored. Once it was fully restored, it glowed a bright green color.

"YAHOO~! The Emerald's come back to life!" Chip cheered, doing some loop de loops in the air.

"We did it! We did it!" Sailor Moon cheered, jumping up and down in joy.

"This must be the Temple of Gaia!" Mercury said in realization.

"That's gotta be why Eggman was so keen on taking the place over!" Sonic added. Suddenly, the Temple began to shake again.

"Whoa-Ooahhh!"

"W-What the hell?!"

"Here we go agaaaaaaain!"

"Oof!" Sailor Moon grunted, falling on her rump. Meanwhile, outside, a bright pillar of light shoots from the temple and into the atmosphere. Mazuri's continent moved back into place on the planet's mantle and connected with a bright blue glow. Just as they were running to the exit of the temple, they stop when they hear Tail's voice call out to them.

"Guys! Guys! Good news! The planet! One of the broken pieces have moved back into place!" Tails said as he flew towards them.

"Really? That's wonderful!" Mercury smiled.

"Alright! Nice job you two!" Sonic said, giving Chip and Sailor Moon a high-five.

"Take a look!"

Everyone takes a look at the screen to see Mazuri's continent being put back into place.

"Whoa...!" Moon whispered in awe, stars in her eyes.

"Sweet!" Sonic grinned.

"At this rate, you'll have the world back together in no time Sonic!"

The blue hedgehog crosses his arms, smirking. "A planet-sized jigsaw puzzle?" he gives out a thumbs up, his smirk turning into a grin. "Sounds like a great excuse to see the world!"

Both Venus and Sailor Moon squeal in excitement and started hugging each other, jumping up and down like grade-schoolers.

"We're going to see the world~!"

Everyone else around them couldn't help but laugh at their excitement. This was most certainly gonna be a fun world adventure.

Spagonia...

They all arrive back at Spagonia. Of course, it was nighttime. A dark purple aura engulfs Sonic and he turns into a Werehog, again. Only this time, it didn't hurt as much. He noticed that his transformation gradually becomes less painful over time. Tails had already went off ahead to the University, leaving Sonic and the Sailor Senshi to do their own thing. Strolling down the dark streets, they couldn't help but admire the scenery of the city at night.

"Wow, the city's so beautiful at night," Mars smiles.

"I'll say," Sonic nodded in agreement.

"And look, the moon's full too!" Venus points up at the full moon. "Meaning that it's the perfect night for couples to go out on honeymoons!"

"Of course you'd say that," Jupiter mutters, rolling her eyes in slight amusement. Then, out of the blue, an all too familiar voice calls out to Sonic.

"Found you Sonic!"

"GAH!" Sonic exclaimed when he saw Amy running towards him, almost instantly wrapping him into a hug.

"Oh Sonic! I've been looking for you forever!" Amy sighs happily as she nuzzles her face in his fur.

"H-Hey! Lemme go!"

The girls couldn't help but giggle at the adorable scene before them. They always thought Amy's crush on Sonic was kind of cute. Chip, on the other hand, was confused since this is his very first time meeting her. Amy giggles as she continues hugging him.

"Hehehe! You're crazy if you think you could get away from Amy Rose and...ummm..."

Suddenly, she stops hugging him and slowly pulls away to see him in his Werehog form. What happens next not only shocks Sonic, but the Sailor Senshi as well.

"Who are YOU?!" She screeched, pushing him away. "Oh my gosh! I'm SO sorry! I just completely mistook you for someone else!"

'Amy...didn't recognize him?!'

"That's strange, I could've sworn it was him," Amy ponders to herself before turning back to Sonic. "Anyways, I'm REALLY sorry. I'll see ya later!"

Amy happily waves him goodbye as she took off.

"AMY WAIT!" The Inner Senshi call out to her, but she was too far gone. They all stared down the streets in stunned silence.

"I...I don't believe it..." Mars said, shocked. "...Amy didn't recognize him..."

"But...but why?!" Venus questioned in disbelief.

Chip flies next to Sonic and says. "Well THAT was weird. How come that girl didn't know that you were you Sonic?"

Sonic didn't speak, he just slowly lowers his arm in silence. Chip floats in front of him, taking notes on his physical appearance.

"I mean, I guess you are kinda...you know...and uh...these guys?"

"CHIP!" The girls chastised.

"What?" Chip asks innocently. Then, upon hearing a somber sigh, he turns to see Sonic walking away, with his head hung low. Immediately, guilt filled his heart.

"Oh, uh...I mean...D-don't worry! Hey! You only LOOK really scary Sonic. Inside you're the same as ever, I guarantee it! Okay?"

Sonic just sighs sadly in response.

"Soniiic! Cheer up! Uhh...chocolate! Want some chocolate?!" He asks, pulling out a chocolate bar. Unfortunately, that didn't work either. Chip and the girls watch their friend walk away in sadness.

BGM: Sonic Unleashed Ost- "Spagonia Hub Night"

"Poor Sonic-kun..." Sailor Moon whispered sadly. She never seen Sonic so upset before. Wanting to cheer up their friend, the girls went over to him and said.

"Hey, Sonic, don't let it get to you, okay?" Sailor Mars smiled. "At least we know that it's you."

"Rei-chan's right!" Sailor Moon agreed. "Even if you look different, your still the same Sonic-kun we all know and love."

However, Sonic just sighed in response, causing the Inner Senshi to frown. The Martian soldier sighed before she spoke.

"Sonic, if you don't mind me asking...why does it bother you so much?"

"Yeah, didn't Amy annoy you?" Venus asked curiously.

"Well...she normally does," Sonic replied. "but...at the same time, I kinda liked it when she ran up to me and hugged me like that."

Sailor Mars blinked at him, taken aback by the answer. "Wow, really?"

The werehog nodded.

"Awww~!" Sailor Moon and Venus cooed. Even Jupiter and Mercury smiled warmly at this.

"...I guess I didn't realize how important she was to me until now," said Sonic. "All this time I...kinda took her for granted, ya know?"

The Sailor Senshi couldn't help but feel bad for Sonic.

"Oh, Sonic..." Jupiter muttered sympathetically.

"...Maybe...I frightened her..." Sonic said as he looked at his big hands and claws. "If I were her, I'd be scared, too."

All of a sudden, Sonic stops dead in his tracks and stiffens when he felt a pair of arms wrap around him. Looking up, he saw that it was Sailor Moon who's hugging him, her chin resting on top of his head.

"U-Usagi...?!"

The odango-haired teen smiles at him sweetly. "Hey Sonic-kun, cheer up, okay?" she said kindly. "No matter what you look like, we'll NEVER be afraid of you."

"But-"

"No buts!" Sailor Mars interjected, her hands on her hips. "Didn't you forget that Tails recognized you almost immediately?"

"That's right!" Chip chimed in. "And...I was a little scared of you, at first, but then I started getting to know you better!"

"And even though everyone else barely recognizes you, you've still got the same big heart inside!" Venus added with a smile. "Plus I think your Werehog form's pretty cool."

"And who knows," Sailor Moon continued. "Maybe we'll run into Amy again and you'll get the chance to tell her that it's you."

Sonic looked. "I...I don't know guys, maybe..."

"Sonic-kun," The Odango-haired cuts him off in a soft, warm tone. "It's not too late, you should tell Amy that it's you while you still have time."

Sonic casts his gaze to the ground, deep in thought. Maybe they're right, he may look different, but he was still himself. But at the same time, he wasn't fully convinced and still had his doubts.

"I...I need to be alone right now..."

The Werehog pries himself from Sailor Moon's arms and walks away, with the others watching him with utmost sadness.

'Sonic...'

Professor Pickle's Lab...

Once they've entered the University, they found Tails talking to the professor. They ceased their conversation and turned to see them walking in.

"Ah, welcome back! Tails had informed me on what happened during your trip in Mazuri. Splendid job!"

The Sailor Senshi smiled, thought their smiles didn't last too long as they were quickly replaced with solemn frowns, something that Professor Pickle and Tails took note of.

"My word, is everything alright?" the professor asked in concern.

"And where's Sonic?" Tails asked worriedly, noticing Sonic's lack of presence.

"Sonic's sitting outside of the University," Mars jerks a thumb to the door they came through. "He's...got a lot on his mind right now."

"Hmmm, I see," Professor Pickle nodded sagely. "I'm sure he'll come around eventually."

"I sur hope so," Mercury whispers.

"Now then, have either of you noticed anything strange on your way here?" asked Professor Pickle.

Sailor Mars gently strokes her chin. "Well, we did run into your assistant. He wasn't acting like himself..."

"Yeah! He was all 'What? I'm not the same guy I was this after noon...Hey kid, I don't even know you!'," Moon says in a falsetto male voice. " Then he said 'You're really pissing me off! Get lost punks!' and then the big jerk pushed me!"

"And I would've broke the bastard's jaw Rei-chan hadn't stepped in," stated Jupiter, crossing her arms.

"When I saw him, he had this...dark energy that was inside of him, clinging onto his heart like a bloodsucking parasite," Mars explained, shuddering at the memory. "I even tried using my holy sutras to free him, but it didn't work for some reason."

"Hmm...I see," Professor Pickle nods grimly. "Clearly, he too has fallen under the influence of Dark Gaia. According to the Gaia Manuscripts, Dark Gaia is empowered at night...Its negativity impacts the deepest, darkest parts of the heart..."

Everyone, including Chip, gasps at this. Professor Pickle turns to Mars.

"I'm surprised you were able to see Dark Gaia's influence within my assistant,"

"Well, as a Miko, I posses some some psychic ability, and can sense energy waves within a person," Mars explained.

"WHOA! You're psychic?!" Chip asked excitedly, floating in front of Sailor Mars' face, causing her to sweat drop.

"Uh...sort of..."

"Hmm, impressive ability you have there young Rei," Professor Pickle commented, earning a smile from the Martian soldier.

"So how do we free those who have been possessed by Dark Gaia?" Sailor Venus asked.

"Thankfully, there's something that's in development that'll free them from Dark Gaia's influence, but it's still not quite ready as yet," the Professor told her. "In the mean time, you must find the temple in Spagonia. Then find the one in Holaska."

"Yes sir!" Mars nodded. "Come on guys, let's go!"

"Right!" Everyone left the lab and took off into the dark streets of Spagonia, while Tails stayed behind to help the Professor.

BGM: Sonic Unleashed Ost-"Spagonia Rooftop Run-Night"

Standing in the middle of the streets of Spagonia, Sonic and the Sailor Senshi were in the middle of discussing a plan.

"Okay, in order for us to find the Temple of Gaia faster, we're gonna have to split up," Venus explained to them.

They all nodded in agreement. Well, except for Chip who had a look rather confused by the plan.

"Wait, why do we need to split up?" He asked in perplexity.

"If we split up, we'll be able to cover more ground that way," Mercury explained to him.

"And it'll make finding the Temple a lot easier," Sonic added.

"Okay, then it's settled, I'll be going with Mercury and Jupiter," Venus points to the Werehog "Sonic, you go with Sailor Moon, Mars, and Chip."

Nodding, they all went their separate ways. Venus went with Jupiter and Mercury, while Sailor Moon went with Sonic, Mars, and Chip. The quartet noticed streets of Spagonia were rather empty and quiet, due to the purple creatures that be coming out at night. Thankfully, the street lights and the moonlight uplifted some of the eerie atmosphere, though not completely. Sometime later, they found themselves battling dozens of purple chameleon-like creatures along with little green ones that resemble crossbreed between a rhino and a bulldog.

BGM: Sonic Unleashed Ost-"Werehog Night Battle Suite"

"BURNING MANDALA~!" bellowed Sailor Mars as she launched several rings of fire at the creatures. The fire rings hit the creatures dead on, making them screech in pain as they felt their flesh being cooked to a crisp.

WHAM! CRACK! A loud, sickening crack echoed when Sailor Moon brought down her Eternal Tiare directly onto the creatures skull. Then, she jabs one in the midsection from behind, and strikes another one in the jaw from her left, sending it flying across the street and through a window.

CRASH!

"W-Whoops..." Moon muttered, sweat dropping.

BAP! BAP! BAP! HACK! SLASH! BAP! BAP! SLASH! BAP! BAP! SLASH!

Sonic uses his elastic arms to bring his fists forward repeatedly to unleash a flurry of rapid, powerful punches at the creatures, whilst slashing and hacking them with his claws. He bends backwards to evade a claw swipe from one of the purple creatures and counters with a vicious headbutt to its skull, knocking it to the ground. Then, he back fists another one in the jaw from behind, sending it flying into a pile of crates.

BOOM!

Sonic blinks in bewilderment and surprise when he saw the crates that he sent the creature flying into explode. From the corner of his eye, he saw two of the purple creatures perched on one of the rooftops above Sailor Moon, who was blasting the purple creatures with her Silver Moon Crystal Power attack. They looked ready to pounce on her. Looking around, he saw another one of the explosive crates. Sonic stretches his arms, grabs his head, and lifts it over his head before shouting out.

"USAGI! HEADS UP!"

"Huh?" questioned Sailor Moon, turning her head to see a crate reeling towards her! Yelping, she ducks to evade the crate, and not long after, hears the sound of a loud explosion from behind, followed by the unearthly screams of agony. She turns around to see the charred corpses of two purple creatures, who were dissolving out of existence.

"You okay?" Sonic asked, walking towards her. She opens her mouth to speak, but gasps when she saw a pack of little green creatures lunging at him, ready to sink their teeth and claws into his flesh.

"SONIC-KUN DUCK! SILVER MOON CRYSTAL POWER KISS~!"

"WHOA!" Sonic exclaims, ducking underneath the attack. Upon hearing screeches of pain, he looks over his shoulder to see the little green creatures being sent reeling back by the blast. Letting out a sigh of relief, he turns to Sailor Moon and said. "Thanks Usagi."

"Alright, that should be the last of them," Mars said walking towards them, with Chip flying next to her.

"But there's gonna be a lot more of those guys though," Sonic said, folding his arms behind his head. "Lets not get too comfortable."

BGM: Sonic Unleashed Ost-"Spagonia Rooftop Run-Night"

"Sonic, you of all people should know that I never get TOO comfortable," The raven-haired Miko quipped, placing her hand on her hip, not before sending Sailor Moon a teasing smile. "Unlike a certain bun head."

"HEY!" The moon princess barked, her cheeks burning red.

"Where do you think we should look for the Temple now?" Chip asked. "We've been walking around the city for a while now."

Tapping a clawed finger to his chin, he looks up at one of the rooftops. Humming thoughtfully, he came up with an idea.

"Maybe we can get a better look from the rooftops," Sonic suggested, pointing to the rooftops. They all look in the direction to where he's pointing.

"That's not a bad idea Sonic," Mars agreed. "We can get a better look from up there than on the ground."

Nodding, Sonic stretches his arms to grab onto the ledge and pulls himself toward the rooftop. Sailor Moon and Sailor Mars both crouch down, jumping up high in the air and onto the rooftop, with Chip following.

Minutes Later...

"WHOO~!" Sonic hollers happily as he, Sailor Moon, and Sailor Mars leap across the rooftops. Chip was flying above them, searching for the Temple of Gaia.

"Hey Chip! You see anything?" Sailor Mars called out to him from below, jumping over another rooftop.

Chip shakes his head and says. "Nope! Not yet!"

"Man, finding the Gaia Temple's gonna take forever!" The werehog groused, leaping over a building. "If only I had my speed, it would be MUCH easier."

"Hey, since it's night time, should've we have dinner?" asked Chip. This caused Sailor Moon too giggle and Sonic and Sailor Mars to sent him a look that said 'really?'.

"You just ate not too long ago," The Werehog deadpanned.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWLLLLLLLL~!

Upon hearing a loud growl, Sonic, Chip, and Sailor Mars screeched to a halt and turned to see Sailor Moon clutching her stomach, a light pink hue coloring her cheeks with a sheepish smile on her face.

"Really Usagi?" deadpanned Sailor Mars.

"Pardon me," Moon giggled nervously. The Werehog and the raven-haired beauty both sighed as they face palmed, shaking their heads. Then all of a sudden, they heard the sounds of growls and hisses from down below. Peering over the rooftop, they saw multiple dark purple creatures surrounding the fountain, along with Dr. Eggman's robots.

"AAH! It's those monsters again!" screamed Chip as he flew to hide behind Sailor Moon

Sonic smirked. "And Eggman's robots too. Perfect. I was hoping to blow off some steam."

Sailor Mars rolls her eyes at this. "Oh, brother..."

Grinning wildly, Sonic cracks his neck and jumps down to leap into action, with the other's jumping down with him.

With Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury...

"HIYA!"

KA-POW! BOOM!

A purple creature was sent flying cross the street and into a pile of explosive crates. Littered all over the streets were unconscious bodies of purple and little green creatures, who were dissolving into mist. Jupiter brings down her leg, letting out an irritable sigh.

"Man, these freaks are a giant pain in my ass," Jupiter mutters, her hands on her hips.

"Tell me about it," Venus groans. "Everywhere we go, they're always popping up out of nowhere! These guys are more of a pain to deal with than the Daimons!"

Mercury, meanwhile, was running a diagnosis on her Super Computer to locate the Temple of Gaia.

"Got anything yet Ami-chan?" Venus asked as she and Jupiter walk over to her.

"Almost, just a few more adjustments and..." Mercury trailed off. Finally, she got something on her computer. "Yes! I've got something!"

"Yahoo! Way to go Mercury!" Venus praised as she happily hugged the girl genius, causing her to blush and giggle.

"Which way should we go?" Jupiter asked her.

Mercury points straight up ahead. "That way! Straight ahead!"

Nodding, the trio journeyed down the path way that leads them to the Gaia Temple.

With Sonic, Mars, Moon, and Chip...

CLANG! SLASH! CLANG!

Sailor Moon was engaged in close-quarters combat with Dr. Eggman's robots, parrying their sword strikes with her Eternal Tiare. She parries one from her left, ducks underneath one form her right, and flips in the air when one of them tried to slash below her feet. Landing on her feet, she aims her Eternal Tiare at the robots and shouts.

"SILVER MOON CRYSTAL POWER KISS~!" Her attack blows the robots into bits. Sailor Moon pants lowering her weapon. "Okay, that should be the last of them..."

Looking to her left, she sees Sonic and Sailor Mars panting heavily, with dozens of unconscious bodies of the purple creatures littered all around them, which they later dissolved into mist.

"So..." Mars heaved, turning to give Sonic a look. "...blow off some steam, huh?"

The werehog glared at her. "Oh, give me a break, would ya?! I didn't think there were gonna be THAT many!"

The moon princess giggles a little at their small banter. Back when Sonic was transported to Earth, he would often butt heads with the fiery Miko, almost as much as she butts heads with her.

Sonic sighs. "Geez...at least it can't get any worse."

THUD!

"...I stand corrected..."

"You and your big mouth..." Mars sighed, pinching the bridge of he nose. They turn to see the Big Mother enemy.

"...Oh boy...!" Sonic blanched.

"Not again...!" Moon squeaked in fright. And to make matters worse, Eggman's drones were there too.

With Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury...

BGM: Sonic Unleashed Ost-"Werehog Night Battle Suite"

Venus is preforming a chain of back flips to avoid being incinerated into a pile of ash by the barrage of lasers that Eggman's drones were shooting at her. Tired of being on the defense, she runs up a building, somersaults in the air and charges her attack.

"VENUS LOVE ME CHAIN~!" Venus yelled as she lashed out her chain at the drones like a whip. Her attack rendered them into ribbons. Landing gracefully on her feet, she breath's slightly heard and wipes a bead of sweat from her brow.

Jupiter grunts as her hands interlocked with one of the purple creature's. The two engaged in the contest of strength, their muscles tensed and bulging, neither of them budging from their spot. Snarling, the Amazonian brunette lifted her legs off the ground while still clutching hands with the purple creature. She placed her feet to the monster's chest and pushed it with all her strength. The purple creature immediately lost its grip and was thrown twenty feet away from its opponent. Jupiter quickly regained her composure and prepared her attack.

"SUPREME THUNDER~!" She shouts as she shot a bolt of lightning at the monster, shocking it and killing it almost instantly. Mercury, who was being cornered by the purple monsters, creates a water harp in her hands and starts playing it, charging up her attack.

"MERCURY AQUA RHAPSODY~!" She fires blasts of freezing water towards her enemies, freezing them solid and destroying them.

BGM End

The Mercurian solider sighs as she puts up her Mercury Harp. "Okay, that should be the last of them."

Jupiter pants, wiping some sweat from her forehead. "I sure...hope so..." the brunette huffed.

"I hope that Sonic-kun and the other's are having better luck than we are," Venus said. The moment she said that, they heard the sound of screaming, which seemed to be getting louder and louder.

"...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!"

"Wait, is that...screaming?" Jupiter pondered, slowly turning around. And the second she did, her eyes popped out of her sockets when she saw Sonic, Sailor Mars, and Sailor Moon reeling towards her!

"WHAT THE?!"

"TAKE COVER!" Shouted Venus as she and the others rolled out of the way to avoid being crashed into.

CRASH!

The trio crashed into the ground hard, creating a large crater. Once the dust clears up, it shows Sonic, Sailor Mars, and Sailor Moon lying on the ground, their eyes swirling with stars circling over their heads.

"Sonic-kun! Usagi-chan! Rei-chan!" Mercury cried out in worry as she and the others ran over to their side. "Are you okay?"

Sitting up, the Odango-haired blond gave them a shaky thumbs up.

"Y-Yeah...N-N-Never...better..." Moon said dizzily, her head spinning. Suddenly, she gasps and starts shaking her head furiously, regaining her composure. "That's right! Rei-chan!"

"Oh, yeah! Where is she?" asked Sonic, looking around for her, and being completely unaware that he's actually sitting on top of her.

"Get your big, furry ass OFF OF ME!" yelled Sailor Mars.

"WHOA!" Sonic exclaimed, jumping off of her. "Sorry Rei! My bad."

The raven-haired beauty just simply rolled her eyes and stands up to dust herself off, grumbling under her breath.

"So, what happened?" questioned Sailor Jupiter.

The fiery Miko points to her left, saying. "THAT, happened."

Looking in the direction to where she was pointing, their eyes go wide when they saw the Big Mother enemy, the monster they fought back at Mazuri, the little green creatures that were being spurted from its mouth, and swarms of Eggman's drones hovering over it.

BGM: Sonic Unleashed Ost-"Night Battle Music Mini-Boss"

"WHAT?! Another one?!" Venus exclaimed, her eyes locked on the giant blob creature.

"You gotta be shitting me..." Jupiter groans, throwing her head back. From the corner of her eye, she noticed that Chip's no longer present. "Wait, where's Chip?"

"Huh?" Sonic questioned as he and the other Sailor Senshi looked at her in perplexity. "What are you talking about, he's right-"

However, as he gestures to his left, he too notices that Chip is no longer with them. Everyone else begins to notice as well.

"W-Where'd he go?! He was right with us!" Moon asked in worry as she looked around for him. Suddenly, their attention was caught by the sound of screaming. Snapping their heads to the direction of the scream, their eyes went wide with horror when they saw Chip being pursued by Eggman's drones.

"Oh no! Chip!" Mercury gasped, covering her mouth.

"Damn it!" Mars cursed. "How could've we been so careless?!"

Chip yelps as he narrowly dodges the relentless rain of lasers that were being shot at him.

"HELP ME!" he cried out.

"Don't worry Chip! We're coming!" Sonic yelled out as he leaped forward with his claws extended.

SLASH! SLASH!

He rendered the drones into shreds with his claws. Landing gracefully on all fours, he turns to face the Little Rex's that surrounded him like a pack of rabid dogs. The werehog merely smirks, flexing his claws.

"Bring it on!"

"BURNING MANDALA~!" bellowed Mars as she launched multiple rings of fire at the Little Rex's, burning them alive. Turning around, she leaps out of the way in time to evade the lasers that Eggman's drones shot at her. Performing a handspring, she raises her hand and unleashes a torrent of flames towards the drones, melting them and burning their circuits.

"VENUS LOVE ME CHAIN~!" Venus shouted as she twirls on her right foot, lashing out her chain and rendering the Little Rex's that surrounded her into ribbons.

"MERCURY AQUA RHAPSODY~!" She fires blasts of freezing water at the drones, freezing them and causing them to crumble into blocks of ice.

SMASH!

Jupiter flips out of the way just in time to avoid being smashed into paste by the Big Mother's fist. Landing on her feet, she brings her hands together and starts gathering lightning from her Tiara to charge her attack.

"SPARKLING WIDE PRESSURE~!" Jupiter yelled as she hurled bolts of lightning at the Big Mother enemy, who didn't have time to react. It roared in pain as bolts of electricity coursed through it's body. Seeing that it's now weakened, the brunette turns to Sailor Moon, who's finishing off the last of the drones, and shouts.

"Sailor Moon! Now!"

"Okay!" Moon nod as she aims her Eternal Tiare at the blob-like creature. "SILVER MOON CRYSTAL POWER KISS~!"

The Big Mother enemy roars in agony as it was hit with beams of bright pink light, which erases it from existence.

BGM End

Everyone lets out a sigh of relief once the Big Mother enemy was finally finished off.

"Finally," Mars heaved, throwing her head back with her hands on her hips before turning to look at a half-shaken Chip. "You okay, Chip?"

Chip nods shakily. "Y-Yeah...I-I'm fine..."

Sailor Mars smiles and gently ruffles his hair. "I'm glad."

BGM: Sonic Unleashed Ost-"Spagonia Rooftop Run-Night"

CHOMP!

"YEOUCH!" Sonic suddenly yelped in pain, causing the others to jump in alarm.

"Sonic-kun! What's wrong?!" Mercury asked in worry. With an irritated scowl, he turns around to reveal one of the Little Rex monster's chomping on his rear end. Everyone bursts out laughing, much to the Werehog's chagrin.

"Looks like you missed one, hot-shot!" Mars jeered.

"Haha, very funny," Sonic laughed sarcastically. Chip covers his mouth to muffle his laughter as the girls giggle.

"Don't worry Sonic-kun, I've got you covered." Venus giggled as she aimed at the Little Rex and vaporized it with her Crescent Beam attack. Sonic lets out a sigh of relief.

"Thanks Mina."

Venus smile brightly. "No problem!"

"Yo Ami! How close are we to the Gaia Temple?" Sonic asked Sailor Mercury, who was typing on her Super Compute

"Let's see...the Temple of Gaia should be..." She trails off until she finally gets a signal. "This way!"

They all look to see her pointing at the Clock Tower, much to their bewilderment.

"Wait, why would the Temple of Gaia be inside the clock tower?" Sailor Venus pondered, tilting her head. Boy, were they in for a big surprise.

Inside the clock tower.

"This is NOT what I've had in mind!"

Sonic and the Inner Senshi found climbing up inside of the clocktower, shimmying across a ledge, doing their best not to lose their grip and fall. Though since Chip can fly, there was no need for him to climb.

"Just when I thought things couldn't get any crazier," Jupiter grunted as she used her upper body strength to launch herself upward and grab onto another ledge, with Sonic and the other girls the same.

"Wow, we're really high up!" Chip commented, his voice echoing down below.

"At least you can fly little buddy," said Sonic. Looking from behind, he stretches his arm to grab onto a gear and hoists himself upward, with Chip flying after him. The Inner Senshi each jumped off the ledge and landed on the same gear that Sonic and Chip are on, though Sailor Moon nearly lost her balance when she landed.

"Phew, close one," She sighed in relief.

"You klutz..." The Martian soldier muttered.

"I HEARD THAT!"

"Hey look! I think I see the exit!" Chip said, pointing up ahead to what looks like the exit. It looked rather far away, but not too far.

"Alright! Finally!" Grinning, the werehog stretches his arms and pulls himself towards the ledge with the exit, with Chip following him. Hoisting himself up on the ledge, Sonic turns around and shouts out to the girls.

"Okay girls, when you jump, I'm gonna reach out and catch you! Got it?"

"How do we know you won't drop us?!" asked Sailor Mars.

"Just trust me hothead!" Sonic barked.

Grumbling under her breath, the raven-haired teen takes a few steps back to gain some more distance. She takes a deep breath before she sprints forward and jumps up high into the air. Once she was in reach, Sonic stretches out his arms to grab her.

"I got'cha!" The werehog grunts as he hoists Sailor Mars up the edge.

"Thanks Sonic," said the fiery Miko.

"Glad you didn't chicken out," Sonic smirked.

She shoots the werehog a death glare. "Watch it fur ball!"

"Okay Ami! You're next!"

Nodding, Mercury backs up a bit before running forward and leaps toward the edge, with Sonic using his elastic arms to grab her and pull her to the ledge.

"Alright Mako, your turn!"

Narrowing her eyes, Jupiter cricks her neck to prepare herself and rushes forward. When she reaches the edge, she jumps into the air, doing a front flip and grabs Sonic's outstretched hand, the latter pulling her up.

"Nice flip," Sonic complimented, earning a smile from the brunette.

"Thanks,"

"Your turn Minako-chan!" Mercury called out to her.

Smiling, Sailor Venus backs up a bit to get some distance and rushes forward, backflipping twice before landing on the edge and does a 360 degree spin in the air as Sonic catches her and lifts her over her head.

"Ta da~!" Venus cheered as Sonic puts her down.

"Show off," muttered the raven-haired Miko. Finally, Sailor Moon was the last one to jump onto the edge. Making their way outside, Mercury pulls out her Super Computer to pinpoint the Gaia Temple's location.

"Hmmm, according to the data, the we should be close to the Gaia Temple."

"But where though?" pondered Jupiter. To answer her question, Mercury points to a balcony in far away the distance.

"EH?! The Gaia Temple's all the way over there?!" Sailor Moon complained.

The Mercurian soldier closes her Super computer. "I'm afraid so."

"Well this is just great," Sonic groused, facepalming. "How the hell are we supposed to make it all the way over there anyway?!"

Venus puts a finger to her chin, humming thoughtfully. She analyzes the balcony in the distance and looks at one of the street lights that were by the gate. The blond then glances at one of the ridge turrets and back at the balcony. She stands there deeply in thought for a minute before an idea clicks in her head.

"I got it!"

"VENUS LOVE ME CHAIN~!" Sailor Venus summons her light-chain and spins it above her head like a lasso before tossing it at one of the street lights at the balcony. This didn't go unnoticed by the others.

"Umm...Minako-chan, what are you doing?" Mercury asked the bubbly blonde who ties the other end of the lasso around a ridge turret. Everyone watches the Sailor Senshi of Love take a few steps towards the ledge and does a few stretches before taking a deep breathe. It didn't wake long for everyone else, except for Chip, to catch onto what she's doing.

"Wait a second, is she...?!" Mars thought with wide eyes.

"Here we go!" said Venus as she jumps in the air, grabs her chain and ziplines down to the balcony while yelling "Yahoo~!"

"What's she doing?" asked Chip in bewilderment.

"Who cares? Let's hurry and catch up!" Sonic said as he jumps up and ziplines down Venus's light-chain.

"Hey! Wait up!" yelled Sailor Mars, jumping up and grabbing the chain to ziplines down with Sonic and Sailor Venus up a head. Next was Jupiter, then Mercury, and finally Sailor Moon, with Chip flying after them. Once they landed on the balcony, the Soldier of Mercury takes out her Super Computer and aims it at the gate in front of them.

"My readings say that the Gaia Temple is behind this gate."

This made Sonic light up with joy.

"YAHOO! Alright! Let's go!" The werehog wastes no time and rushes over to the gates. However, as he was doing it, Sailor Mars noticed something was rather...off. Using her spiritual powers, she senses a powerful energy radiating from the gates. Gasping, she shouts out to Sonic.

"Sonic, wait! Don't touch the-!"

Too late, Sonic was already within reach and grabbed the gates to open it. And the moment he did...

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAP!

He was suddenly electrocuted by green electricity before he was sent flying backwards, charred to a crisp.

"Sonic-kun!" Sailor Moon cried out in worry as she and the others run over to his side. "Are you okay?"

Sonic coughs out puffs of smoke and nods weakly. "Y-Yeah...n-never better...!" he wheezed, staggering up to his feet.

"What the hell was that just now?" pondered Jupiter. Sailor Mars walks over to the gates and reaches out to touch the gates, only to recoil back when her hand got shocked.

"These gates must be guarded by some kind of powerful energy," the raven-haired teen surmised. "Which means we probably can't access the Temple yet."

Sonic let out a few more coughs and says. "Well that's just fantastic." he said sarcastically. Then, out of the blue, his ears twitches as he picked up the sound of a commotion. "Hey, you guys hear that?"

They all turn to look at him confused.

"Hear what?" asked Venus. The werehog walks over to the edge, with Chip and Mars following him, and spotted something rather strange. They weren't exactly sure, but there was something weird going on near the University.

"What's going on over there?" pondered Chip.

"Hmm, not sure, but whatever it is, it can't be good," the fiery Miko said with narrowed eyes. "Let's head back to the University for now, then we'll check out the commotion."

Everyone nods in agreement as they jump down the building and head back to the University. Suddenly, Sailor Mars stops in her tracks as she feels a chill run down her spine and looks up into the starry night sky. This didn't go noticed by the others.

"What's wrong Rei-chan?"

The raven-haired beauty stays silent for a minute before answering. "It's...it's nothing. Let's get moving."

Sailor Moon blinks at her, but decides to drop it for now. However, the fiery raven-haired teen couldn't shake off this strange feeling...iT feels almost as if someone was watching over her.

BGM End

Hiwaka Shrine, Earth, Minato-Ward...

Back on earth at the Hiwaka Shrine, the construction workers are nearly finished building the shrines roof. At the stairs, Rei's Grandfather was talking with three policemen.

"Any sign of my granddaughter?" He questioned. The three officers shake their heads.

"No Hino-san," One of them responded. "There's still no trace of your granddaughter."

Grandpa Hino hummed grimly. "I see."

A look of guilt immediately washed over their faces.

"We're sorry Hino-san," The second one spoke up. "We've searched all over the city, but we still couldn't find your granddaughter."

"Ah, don't be so hard on yourselves men," The old priest waved. "You all did the best you could, that's all that matters," he turns around as he made his way towards the shrine. "But if you do manage to find my granddaughter, let me know."

"Yes sir!" The three officers saluted before walking down the stairs to leave. When the old Priest entered the shrine, he lets out a small, somber sigh. In truth, he was worried sick for his granddaughter Rei. Not only that, but he knows that Rei and her friends are the Sailor Senshi. Two days have passed ever since she disappeared. While he doesn't know where she is, he knows that she's no longer here in Tokyo, or even on Earth for that matter.

'Rei, I don't know where you are, or how long you'll be gone. But wherever you are...I hope that you have a safe journey...'
