I don't own any of the characters, or the High School Musical (although Corbin Bleu's locked in my closet).
I Heard Everything
Taylor's P.O.V.
I walked out of school to find Chad to figure out where we were going to go on our date. I noticed that Chad was talking to his friends about who knows what, so I started to walk up to him.
"No, man! What are you smoking?" Chad laughed.
"You love her! Admit it!" Troy said, smirking. I smiled. I knew what they were talking about and I knew that answer that Chad was going to say.
"No, man, I don't love her! I never have loved her, and I never will love her!" Chad announced. I felt a sharp pain in my heart as if my heart was just stabbed and crushed into a thousand million pieces.
"That's the Chad I know!" Zeke said, happily.
I had heard enough. I turned around with tears in my eyes. I ran through the school and into the gym. I crawled under the stands and curled into a small ball and just cried.
I cried for several minutes before I heard the gym door open. I immediately stopped crying and just tried to not make a sound.
"Taylor? Are you in here?" I heard Chad call. I became mad at Chad for even thinking about trying to come find me after what he had said. I unwillingly hick-upped and then became upset at myself for making noise.
"Taylor?" Chad asked again. "Taylor, where are… there you are," he spotted me. Chad climbed under the stands and reached to pull me into a hug.
"Get away from me!" I snapped, scooting away from him.
"Taylor, what's wrong? Did someone hurt you?" he asked as if he was confused and over protective. God, this man was a good actor.
"Yes, someone hurt me!" I snapped again.
"Wha… Who?" he yelled, protectively.
"Like you don't already know who," I mumbled.
"Who? Troy? I'll kick his sorry ass to the next century!" I shook my head, almost laughing. God, did he really not expect me to hear him? "Zeke? I'll kill him!" I shook my head again. "Then who?"
"Who do you think could honestly make me cry this hard!" I screamed at him. "Ass-hole" I mumbled.
"Me?" he asked, 'shocked'. "Oh, God, Taylor, what did I do?" he tried to run his fingers through my hair, but I slapped his hand away.
"Don't think that I didn't hear you talking to Troy, Zeke, and Jason! I heard everything!" I yelled at him, starting to cry again.
"Everything?" he asked.
I nodded. "Yes, everything! 'I've never loved her, I never will love her and I don't love her!'" I mocked him between sobs.
"Oh, Taylor, baby," he reached for me, and I pulled away, still staying in my small ball. "Taylor, I wasn't talking about you."
"You weren't?"
He laughed and shook his head. "No, hon., I wasn't. I was talking about my ex-girlfriend. I hated her. She was clingy, annoying, self-centered, and a cheerleader. I couldn't stand her, and yesterday she cornered me, and tried to make out his me. I told her to go find someone else who actually gave a shit about her. I told the guys about it, and they were makin' fun of me. Oh, Taylor!" he reached for me again and this time I melted into him, crying. "I love you, Taylor. I really do. Always remember that."
"I will," I sobbed into Chad's chest. "I'm sorry."
"You have nothing to apologize for," Chad reassured me.
"Yes, I do! I doubted you and your loyalty! I thought you didn't love me. I…" I was cut short by Chad's lips. He ran his fingers through my hair and pulled me closer. I draped my arms over his shoulders. Chad held me as if I would break if he held me too tight.
"Come on, Taylor," Chad said after finally pulling away from me. "We should get to the restaurant before they cancel our reservations."
"I love you, Chad." I said, hugging him close, still feeling guilty for doubting him.
Chad chuckled, "I love you, too, Taylor, I love you too."
