-1Clark is at the cemetery. It was a beautiful service and Clark knew that Lana would of approved. Everyone was leaving but Clark had asked for a minute alone. As he stood there looking at her grave he remembered their first Christmas together:
Clark and Lana are at the Kent's. They are decorating the Christmas tree. Clark and Lana are laughing and holding each other. Lana turns to Clark and smiles at him with her big brown eyes. Clark smiles back at Lana
" I love you Lana. This is the best Christmas ever." Clark says happily.
" I love you too Clark" Lana tells him .
His mind travels from that point to when he proposed to her in the fortress and how he told her to wait to tell him her reaction. His mind travels to when she accepts his proposal at his house.
Clark is back on the steps. He sees Lana's car pull up and sees her get out. She walks up to him and then they talk.
" I have an answer to your proposal. Yes Clark, I will marry you." Lana puts the ring on and smiles as Clark twirls her around in the air
The memory fades and Clark is standing back in front of her grave. God he was so angry. He wanted to scream and cry but what would crying do. Nothing. It never did anything. It wouldn't bring her back and it wouldn't take away his pain and anger.
"Clark" Lana calls out from behind
Clark turns around and sees Lana standing in front of him. He couldn't believe his eyes. It wasn't possible.
"Clark, you have to let me go" she tells him
'No Lana I cant I love you way too much" Clark says
" I love you too. You have to get on with your life. That's why you have to get on with your life and let me go" she tells him
She pauses for a minute and then he continues
"what am I going to do with out you Lana?" Clark asks.
" one day, you will find love with someone who loves you for you and accepts your secret, just like I did." she says while smiling.
"Lana, I love you! I'm so sorry I couldn't save you" Clark says tears falling
Lana looks at Clark her heart aching for him. She then steps foreword and takes his hand.
" Don't be! There was nothing you could of done. It was my destiny to travel that road that night. Please don't blame yourself. I don't blame you. That's how much I love you, trust and believe in you, Clark Kent" she says with tears falling down her face.
" Clark, I have to go now. I love you and I will be there for you when ever you need me. I promise." Lana tells him
" I love you Lana" Clark tells her
" I love you Clark Kent, always and forever" Lana says smiling.
Lana looks at Clark and smiles. She then turns and walks away.
Clark looks after her until she fades and then walks over to her grave, never more sure of anything and says
"Lana Lang, one day I am going to save the world for you and you are going to be as proud of me as I am of you. One day I will see you again and it will be magic. Before then I am going to live my life for you and only you and be the man you wanted me to be. The one I truly am.
With those words, he watched her coffin down as it settled in the ground. The place it was meant to be. She was never meant to be here that long, only long enough to help him be who he was suppose to be. He got down on his knees and sprinkled a fistful of fresh dirt on her coffin as a single tear fell as he said his silent goodbye.
Clark felt a light breeze and then something touched his shoulder. From here on he knew everything would be alright. As he was standing there he could hear her laugh, her contagious laugh. He stared into the distance and smiled, just a little bit knowing he would be alright. He smiled again and with out taking one glance back he turned and walked away
