Summary: Michael hears some disturbing news on the radio
Disclaimer: No I don't own Prison Break or the characters. I've tried to say otherwise but lawyers frown on that sort of thing.
The car was on its last leg, the broken, two tires were spares and the thing made so much noise Michael thought they'd be caught just because of the muffler noise. But the radio worked, it only got Am radio but that was all they needed, contrary to what Sucre said. With Am they could hear the news and find out how the manhunt for them was going. It was downer, yeah but it was also necessary.
Michael was listening to it alone while the others set up their convict camp,. He trying to ignore the blistering cold when a familiar name was mentioned. The broadcast chilled his blood.
'In other news Dr. Sarah Tancredi, daughter of Governor Tancredi was hospitalized for a severe drug overdose, reports say that she is in critical condition.' The woman spoke in a flat, formal tone, just doing her job. Michael watched the flickering light on the radio face as the static buzzed the newscast in and out of focus. He didn't need to hear anymore though, they'd already stopped talking about Sarah and moved on to the next story.
That's all she was to them, a story. They didn't know that she was kind and gentle. They didn't know that she'd saved him from going insane inside Fox River. And no one knew that she saved Lincoln's life just by leaving a door unlocked. He wanted to hit something, he wanted to take their stolen car and drive to whatever hospital she was in and beg her to forgive him. Logic killed both ideas, if he hit something he'd hurt himself, prison or no he wasn't tough like his brother and the others. Taking the car would get him thrown back in prison and probably get his brother thrown back in too. That would sort of defeat the purpose of breaking him out of death row in the first place. Plus he didn't know the name of the hospital she was at because they never said the name on the radio, either that or the static had blocked it out.
Cold logic was what made him take a few deep breaths, close his eyes against the pain and fury and turn off the car. He got out of the car, cool calm and collected as usual, walked to their makeshift camp and took a seat by Lincoln in front of the tent they would share.
"Anything new?" Linc asked. Michael looked into his brother's eyes and smiled without any real emotion.
"Nothing we need to worry about." He answered.
The End
