Chapter Nine: In Which Letters Are Intercepted

Harry-

I can't say everything I would like to in a letter, it's too risky in case the owl is intercepted — we need to talk face-to-face. Can you ensure that we are alone by the fire in Gryffindor Tower at one o'clock in the morning on the 22nd of November?

Be on the watch, Harry. I still want to hear about anything unusual. Let me know about the 22nd of November as quickly as you can.

Sirius

He showed the letter to Hermione. She had quite a lot of things to say about it, too.

Harry quickly dragged her to an abandoned classroom lest someone hear about Sirius.

"Has he gone completely mental? If he's afraid his letters are being intercepted, maybe he should find a better way of communication then! What's he playing at, writing all the details of your meeting in a letter that could be intercepted?" ranted Hermione.

"I know —"

"Are you supposed to Stun and Memory Charm every single Gryffindor that goes for a walk? What are you going to do to keep out everyone? That's not even considering if someone intercepted the letter! If that happened, then I'm sure they will want to catch mass murderer Sirius Black when he shows up at Hogwarts!" ranted Hermione some more.

"Hermione calm down —"

"Don't tell me to calm down! Just write a bloody letter to Sirius and tell him that he's finally lost it!"

"I will," placated Harry.

"Ok."

Harry wrote the letter.

Sirius-

You have lost your mind. If my mail is being monitored, that means someone who's not on our side already knows Harry Potter is in communication with a known felon. And if that same person read your last letter, then they definitely know where and when you want us to meet.

Keep your head down and find a better method of communication that can't be intercepted. Preferably one that lets us talk 'face-to-face'.

Harry

PS: It's definitely a no for 22nd November.

AN: And that's why inbreeding is bad, readers. Everything one needs to capture Sirius is in that letter, including but not limited to where he is going to be and when. Stupidity runs in the family, I see.
