Summary: After defeating his rival Naraku, Miroku wanted to confess his love to Sango.
Pairing: Miroko x Sango
Chapter One - Prologue
Miroku was sipping coffee at Starbucks by himself. The sun was shining outside. It was a beautiful day, a perfect day. He was happy and content.
The gorgeous weather was not the reason for his happiness. The truth was, he would be happy even the weather was cold and stormy. It was just a perfect day. He smiled, and smiled, then giggled, and giggled, then laughed, and laughed. He won the national account against his rival Naraku. This Naraku had been his rival since elementary school. They were in the same high school, same university, same sport teams, and then same business. He worked two straight years to win this account against him. He felt so great. He could not stop smiling, giggling and laughing.
He just wished Sango was there to celebrate with him.
Sango, yes Sango, the beautiful, intelligent, competent and caring Sango. The one and only one that he admired and cared for. He knew she loved him. He was afraid that she would be a distraction to him. Yes, he was selfish. Or he was afraid. He did not want to be distracted. Now Naraku was gone, he could and would like to resume his feelings for her, if she was still there for him.
Would she still be there? Of course she would. She loved him. She told him many times that she loved him. Sango… He missed her so much that his heart literally ached. He had to do something. He must see her. He would let her know about these special feelings that he had kept inside for so long. But how…
Well, they worked in the same company. Specifically, she worked for him. She was one of the reasons why he defeated the impressive little devil Naraku. She was always there for him.
Something happened a little while ago, six months ago to be precise. They stopped talking to each other about six months ago when Sango confronted him with his feelings for her. He rejected her… No, he did not reject her. She interpreted his response as a rejection. He merely said he needed to focus on his career for the time being. He needed to defeat Naraku, an extremely persistent and strong rival. Then she started avoiding him. She was not available for lunches anymore. She stopped buying him his favorite pastries. She did not stay late to keep him company. She stopped decorating his desk…
He did not even notice the change until, all of a sudden, she was gone. It was not that he was not sensitive. He was totally consumed by the Naraku challenge. He did what a man supposed to do, that was to focus on one's career. Relationship would come next. And now he took care of business, it was time to build a family.
"I miss you, Sango, I miss you."
Miroku put down his coffee cup, got up and headed to the office.
"I will tell Sango today that I love her and I want to start a future with her."
The sun was warm. The air smelled fresh. The future looked bright.
When he got to his office, he noticed a letter on his desk.
"Letter of Resignation?"
He opened it with a song on his lips. He could care less who was leaving since he was on top of his world. He could lose anyone in this company as long as it was not Sango chan.
Guess whose signature was on the resignation letter.
TBC
A/N: My first story. Yes, it's short. I just wanted to see if anyone actually liked it before I carried on. And I thought it would be a good place to stop. You know whose signature was on the letter, right?
Thanks for reading. Review please?
