This was technically a Bad Things Happen Bingo request, for Falling from a Great Height with InuHina. However, I know the requestor would not like the fic I have planned for the prompt, so I wrote her this instead lol.

It was a clamorous sound: monsters wailing in all pitches, charging towards the group of four from all directions. Kenma, Inuoka, Hinata, and Lev found themselves surrounded on a desert mesa, forced to fend off this horde of beasts with only the weapons and ammunition they brought.

Kenma, by far the most adroit of them, pulled out his signature double machineguns and unloaded into the monsters. With each one that fell, more surged forward in its wake, raising clubs and claws. Before long they were upon the band of adventurers. Lev dispatched several with head shots from his revolvers, but the creatures continued to close in. Inuoka mowed some down with his assault rifle, providing cover for Hinata who took the foes down one-by-one with shots from his crossbow.

As hard as they tried, the horde would not cease. Kenma stopped to reload both guns simultaneously, creating an opening for a beast the size of an ogre to charge with his club. Lev sniped the monster in the head with one shot of his revolver. Ten more monsters rushed the vulnerable Kenma, but with his guns fully loaded again, Kenma hopped up and rapidly quashed the creatures in an instant.

"That's so cool!" Lev squealed in admiration at their squad leader.

"Lev, you idiot! Behind you!" Kenma yelled too late.

A monster slashed its claws across Lev's back. Lev landed on his torso. He rolled onto his back quickly, pointing both handguns skyward at his attacker, but the monster mashed its oversized fist into Lev's belly. Lev's body went limp and dematerialized.

Kenma cursed. Inuoka saw the loss of their teammate out of the corner of his eye. His body shook with rage.

"Shouyou! Cover me!" Inuoka commanded and darted forward, unloading bullets into the monsters. Hinata did his best to keep up, firing arrows into the heads of anyone who tried to get behind Inuoka in his one-man charge through the enemy throng. All around Inuoka, monsters big and small collapsed, their bodies staying in place momentarily before fading away.

Inuoka made it to the edge of the cliff. He spun around and already found himself surrounded, a black chasm to his rear. An arrow pierced the skull of one of the creatures, and it tumbled forward.

"Inuoka!" Hinata yelled. Inuoka smirked. He quickly refreshed his ammo as the remaining monsters charged from two sides. Inuoka fired sequentially this way and that, not letting any creature get too close. His workable space began to shrink nonetheless as the endless horde pressed more upon him. Inuoka gnashed his teeth, shaking nervously. Could he do it, or was this the end of him?

He took a step back to make just a little more distance, and half of his foot met air. The shock of straddling the edge of the cliff caused him to lose his balance. He rolled over the side with a cry.

"Inuoka!" Shouyou screamed. He sprinted towards the cliff.

"Shouyou, no!" Kenma called, but Hinata ignored him. In a heartbeat, Hinata leaped off the cliff in a misguided attempt to save his companion. Seconds later, both Hinata and Inuoka disappeared from Kenma's radar.

Kenma snarled at the beasts all around him. He continued to fire, but the never-ending horde surged closer and closer….

The "Game Over" message blinked on Kenma's TV screen. He sulked angrily. Hinata and Inuoka with game controllers to his left, and Lev with a controller to his right, stared at their captain.

"Shouyou!" Kenma rebuked. "You can't chase Inuoka over the edge!"

"I thought I could grab him and jump back onto the cliff," Hinata asserted.

"You can't jump on air! Or, I don't know, maybe you can on the court, but it doesn't work like that in videogames!" In protest, Kenma got to his feet and marched out of the bedroom.

"Where are you going?" Inuoka asked.

"To find better players to partner with," he grumbled under his breath. The door slammed.

Lev cheerily looked at the other first-years. "That was fun! Let's do it again."
