Hello everybody!
This is it. The last chapter. I actually am crying. I can't believe that after all these years, I finally finished this story.
I want to thank FictionWriter91 for all the help, friendship and support, and of course I want to thank all the people that took their time to read this story.
I have an epilogue in the making, only I am not sure when it will be published. I also do have another fiction coming your way, which is called Post-it on guns. It's very different since it's an actual borderline crossover with the movie The One and there is a character going from our world to theirs. It's also Barney/OC pairing.
Well, that being said. Thank you all again and don't hesitate to write and/or review.
Enjoy your reading,
Pavs.
Chapter Thirty-Eight: Heart of Glass, Mind of Stone
[Trench's Plane]
They'd found Luna and Smilee first, both of them relatively unharmed and able to tell them that the others, except for Galgo and Lee, had been taken from the field one by one. Then they'd found Maggie. Gabrielle was still unconscious by the time they'd reached Trench's plane, but they all suspected a concussion and tiredness. Lee was another matter. The man had been shot two times, had a concussion, and had internal bleeding, which was now under control. He'd need a hospital as soon as possible.
[Stonebanks's Mansion]
Barney looked at the door with anger written all over his face. While the others had been brought to another, bigger room, Isaacs had decided to bring him somewhere special.
The room his very own daughter had been kept in for six months, the same room where Gunnar had been poisoned. He would have screamed if he could've, but they'd gagged him too. He heard footsteps and closed his eyes as the memory of Lee came back to him.
''Watch out, old man. You aren't as fast as you think!'' Lee had said seconds before his face had switched from a smirk to a shocked expression.
Then there had been the blood and the fear as Barney had helplessly watched his friend fall. He felt the tears coming back. He knew the risks that came with their life, but he'd never thought that Lee would…He couldn't even think about it.
''Need a tissue?'' Isaacs asked, appearing suddenly, and Barney launched himself towards the man.
He was stopped by the chains about an inch away from Isaacs. He tried to scream through his teeth as the man before him laughed. He was enraged. He needed to know that his team...his family...and his daughter and Maggie were ok.
''So, not that this isn't entertaining, but I was wondering how useful you could be to me. I thought about poisoning you and watch you kill your own daughter, but hey, that didn't quite work the first two times I've tried this with your crack head friend,'' Isaacs commented, and Barney was seeing red. ''So, I thought: Why not just let her come to me before I kill each and every single one of you in front of her eyes? You're all the reason why she fights so hard, so a little motivation shouldn't hurt.''
''FFKKEER!'' Barney tried to scream, and Isaacs smiled at him.
''Manners?'' Isaacs told him condescendingly, and Barney flipped him off. ''All right then, I'll go play with your friends instead.''
Barney froze as Isaacs backed out the room, a cruel smile on his face.
He was terrified.
[Russia]
''Of all the fucking things you could think of!'' screamed Gabrielle, and Church sighed.
''Listen, woman: Lee needed help, three quarters of your team is missing, and we are in no position to pick who we want as teammates,'' Church replied as Gabrielle hit the wall with her fist.
''Is everything all right here?'' a man with a heavy Russian accent asked, and Church nodded.
They walked back into their room, and Gabrielle looked at Lee. His bed was right next to the door, and he was plugged in from everywhere. Luna and Smilee were sitting on the floor where mattresses had been put for them to use.
The only other real bed had been left to Gabrielle, right up until she'd woken up screaming Lee's name like her life depended on it. Drummer had run back to the room, thinking they'd been under attack as Luna, Maggie, and Yang had tried to calm her down. Booker had gone to the medics, trying to ask them if they had any type of anti-anxiety meds. They didn't, so he'd asked for something strong, and they had ended up smoking or drinking for most of their first night in the only American black site ever constructed in Russia.
Church did agree with Gabrielle: this was far from their best idea ever, but it was their only one.
[Gabrielle]
I felt my eyes burning as the never-ending pain I was feeling since I'd woken up in the smoking forest was getting worse. I needed to feel safe; I needed my family. I needed Trench. I closed my eyes in an attempt to stop the tears, but I could only see the dead bodies of Billy, James, Gunnar, and Galgo. I focused on the sound of Lee's monitor as I remembered the fear and pain of thinking him dead too.
''I can't keep watching you all die,'' I whispered to myself as I started sobbing again. ''I just can't anymore.''
I felt arms around me as Luna told me that she was there for me. I put one of my hands on hers as I cried against her. I could feel her shaking, and I knew she was crying too. She really liked Galgo, and I missed him too. For the short amount of time, he'd been with us, he'd managed to make any silence sound so loud.
''Maggie, Booker, and Yang are working on something, and I know it's only a matter of time before Church and Drummer can convince the Russian agents to help us a bit more,'' Smilee said as he joined us on the small bed.
I felt the pain coming back as I thought about Maggie. I could see the fear and sadness in her eyes at the idea of losing my father every time I looked at her. We could lose him. We could lose them all. I looked at Lee, and it reminded me of one of the rare good nights before shit had truly hit the fan with Vilain's mission. When everybody, including Trench, had been at Old Point. I had danced with Gunnar, Tool, and even my dad. I'd laughed with Lee and Trench. I'd sung bad karaoke with Hale and Toll. I'd talked with Yang about anything and everything. Life had been so good.
''We don't have time,'' I replied, desperate to do something, anything, to save my family.
And to be able to hold Trench against me once again. Fuck, it was painful.
''Well, we don't have any other options…and I know this is shitty at best, but...'' Smilee said, and I remembered the initial plan back at the safe house. Smilee must have seen my expression shift because he stopped talking.
''What about plan A?'' I asked while turning to face both him and Luna.
''What about it?'' Booker asked as he entered the room with Yang, and I started to talk.
[Stonebanks's Manor]
Doc looked at Mars with a frown. He was in really bad shape. None of them were anywhere near top condition, but still. The wound on Mars leg was looking more than infected, and he highly doubted Isaacs's men were about to do shit about it except maybe kill him, which is why he'd refrained from talking.
They all tensed up as heard Barney's chains rattling and thumping and his muffled screams. It didn't take long after that for Isaacs to appear.
''So, looks like your old boss doesn't want to play, so I'll take you in turns,'' Isaacs said before he pointed to Mars. ''You first.''
''You mother fucker!'' Toll screamed as he fought against his own chains.
''Oh, so you don't want the kid to die but killing your old pall was just fine? Is it because he isn't trying to kill your gangbanged whore?'' Isaacs asked, clearly amused. Trench growled.
''Wage es nicht, so über sie zu reden, du herzloser Mistkerl (Don't you fucking dare speak of her like that you heartless son of a bitch)!'' Trench shouted as Isaacs turned to him.
They all did. Never had Trench sounded so angry or dangerous than he did at that very moment. Tool saw something flash in Isaacs's eyes and felt the blood drain from his face.
''So, you do love her then,'' Isaacs said, and Trench felt cold shivers running down his spine. ''I'll definitely save you for last.''
He'd fucked up, badly. He'd watched and heard Gabrielle's torture; he knew what Isaacs was playing at.
But then again…
He'd watched and heard Gabrielle's torture; he wanted to kill that fucker so slowly and painfully…
''Calm down,'' Tool whispered to him as Isaacs began to laugh. He wanted to kill that fucker too, so bad, but they couldn't if they got killed first.
''I'll rip out your fucking throat and see if you'll laugh then, you Scheißkerl,'' Trench threatened with such anger that Isaacs's smile disappeared.
Hale and Toll shared a worried/impressed look as Trench offered a cold, dangerous smile to Isaacs. Tool tensed.
''Oh, yeah,'' Doc thought to himself. ''Mauser is going to fuck you up. Sally can't wait.''
[Trench's Plane]
''I still don't think it's a good idea,'' Yang said as Gabrielle was preparing her weapons.
''We don't have another one,'' Smilee stated, and Maggie nodded in agreement.
They all hated the fact that they'd had to expose Gabrielle like that, but it was their last option. The agency couldn't get involved, and Dimitri and Marcus, both arms dealers and members of Russian organized crime, were a sure way to draw attention. So, they'd traded Gabrielle's inheritance in exchange for a diversion and peace afterwards. That had made Booker cringe as this was as close to the line he'd gotten so far. He couldn't do shit about it though.
''Alright, everything is in place,'' Smilee said while looking at the plan, and Luna looked at Gabrielle.
''Are you sure you want to do this?'' Luna asked, and Gabrielle nodded.
''I have to,'' she replied, and Luna went to hug her.
''Please take care of yourself as much as you can,'' she said before letting her go. ''I don't want to lose my friend.''
Gabrielle felt the tears in her eyes, and Luna let out a small, sad laugh.
''Besides, you can't let me deal with those kids alone. I'll go bat shit crazy before long,'' Luna said, and they both laughed at Smilee's offended look.
''I'll try and make sure you won't have to,'' Gabrielle promised.
[Stonebanks's Mansion]
''Is everybody ready?'' Church asked through the coms.
''No,'' Gabrielle said as the others said yes. She could only remember the pain and suffering as she looked at the mansion.
''Gabrielle?'' Maggie asked, worried, and the girl sighed.
''I'm ok. Let's do this,'' Gabrielle said, and she took a deep breath.
[Barney]
He looked at the blood on the floor and felt his heart clench. He wanted to move to see who it belonged to, but his whole body felt like he was in slow motion. The fuckers had given him a sedative, he knew it.
''Barney!'' Tool exclaimed, and he almost couldn't lift his head to see his panicked friend calling to him.
Then he felt a rush of fear and adrenaline. He looked around to see his men mostly ok, all except Mars. The kid was badly hurt and unconscious.
''He ok?'' he managed to mumble, and Tool shook his head.
''Fuck,'' Barney growled as he tried to sit up.
Then he felt the fear.
''Where is Maggie!?'' he asked seconds before they heard the door open.
''You're awake! Good. Just in time to see the show begin!'' Isaacs explained as he entered the room.
''Piece of shit,'' Barney managed to say, and Isaacs laughed.
''Now, is that the way you talk to someone who organized your very own family reunion?'' Isaacs asked, and they all felt their heart drop.
Then the man took out his phone and got closer to show them footage of the main entrance.
Trench felt his heart stop as sheer terror made its way through his entire body.
''If Stonebanks is to take me with him again and he…you… can't stop him, you have to promise to kill me,'' said Gabrielle with a trembling voice.
''No!'' Tool whispered, horrified as fear and anger rendered Barney speechless.
''What the hell?'' Toll asked as Hale felt a sense of dread making its way to his heart.
Then they heard the first shots being fired, and Isaacs started to laugh.
''Well, looks like Gabrielle is here! Enjoy the show,'' he said while looking at them with a cold smile. '''Cause I sure as hell will.''
[Gabrielle]
I was running as fast as I could while bullets were flying everywhere. I could hear the others coming to help me through the coms and tried to focus on the situation at hand. While there were a lot of people here, I knew that Isaacs was beginning to run out of man power...not that it made this fight easier, but still. Small victories and all.
I shot my last round before I took cover in the first room that I saw and froze as I recognized it. It was Woodsman's bedroom.
It had been Woodsman's bedroom.
I could feel his tags almost burning my skin before I spotted a painting that Stonebanks had made fun of. I ran to it, took it off the wall, and saw faint lines in the plaster. I punched through it to find weapons and ammo.
''Thank you,'' I whispered while looking at the sky through the window.
I went back out and shot as many men as I could while making my way to the basement.
[Stonebanks's Mansion]
Luna swore as she fought yet another man. They'd gotten there as fast as they could, but it still hadn't been fast enough. She saw Smilee from the corner of her eye and felt a rush of adrenaline.
She hadn't been on the team for a long time, but they still felt like family. She didn't want to lose that, so she took her fear and anger and screamed as she killed the enemies one by one.
It wasn't long before she and Smilee cleared their part of the mansion, and they went to retrieve Yang, Booker, and Maggie as Drummer and Church worked on the escape plan after clearing their part.
Smilee spotted Booker and Maggie, and Luna sent them a confused look.
''Where are Yang and Gabrielle?'' Luna asked, and an eerily silence fell upon the mansion.
.
The noise alone was overwhelming, and Trench had to fight himself to not lose his shit. He knew that as long as shots were fired, it meant that she was alive. He saw Isaacs's frown as he looked at his phone before the man got up and walked out.
''This is not good,'' Toll commented as Trench closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
''Es muss dir gut gehen, meine Liebe (You have to be ok, my love),'' Trench whispered to himself, and Toll looked at him with sadness in his eyes.
''She will be,'' Tool commented seconds before they heard a loud explosion outside the door.
Barney saw the door fall as shots were being fired and men were screaming and falling in front of the door.
''What in the fuck?'' asked Doc before he turned to Tool. ''Isn't that…?''
''Woodsman's old custom gun?'' Trench finished for him, and Tool nodded.
Then they saw Gabrielle coming in through the hole where the door had been, covered in blood from head to toe and wearing the same cold and angry expression she'd had on Santa after Gunnar's death.
''Gabrielle,'' Trench said with such relief in his voice that she instantly felt the anger fade.
''Wow, that is touching,'' Isaacs said as he entered the room by the emergency door. She turned to him, weapon drawn, before they all saw her becoming pale. ''I wouldn't do that if I were you.''
They all turned to him, and Gabrielle felt her hands shaking a little.
''Bohai,'' she half-whispered with a scared expression that made their hearts drop.
''Gwabi,'' Bohai cried as Gabrielle fought the tears.
They all felt their anger rising at the sight of the small frightened child.
[Yang]
He heard his son's name through the coms and felt a chill running down his spine seconds before he ran to where he knew Gabrielle was. The others went after him, protecting his back as he made a detour for the emergency exit.
[Basement]
''Drop it,'' Isaacs said, and Gabrielle looked at him with indescribable rage in her eyes.
Barney watched in horror as his daughter did as she was asked.
''Good whore,'' Isaacs said with a sneer, and Trench growled in anger beside her.
''Let him go,'' Gabrielle commanded, and Isaacs laughed.
''On your knees then,'' Isaacs retorted back with a suggestive smile, and Trench pulled against his chains as Barney, Tool, Doc, Toll, and Hale all looked like they were about to kill the man.
Gabrielle stood still and looked at Isaacs straight in the eyes.
''Let. Him. Go,'' she repeated herself seconds before Isaacs shot her in the leg, making her fall to the ground. Thorn screamed.
''Good girl,'' Isaacs said as Gabrielle struggled to get up and ended up in a half kneeling position.
''You fucking arsehole!'' Hale screamed, and the others felt a deep fear making its way to their hearts.
''Let him go,'' Gabrielle repeated herself as she looked into Isaacs eyes.
Gabrielle's blood was all over the floor, and Toll could see how much pain she was in. He was thrown back to Vilain's mission when he'd helped stitch her back up after Lee had found her.
Lee.
He felt his heart break as he sat there, completely vulnerable and unable to save any of his friends. He felt the tears rolling down his cheeks. Trench saw him from the corner of his eye, and then he noticed the fear in both Barney and Tool's eyes and felt his chest tighten. He couldn't lose her. He just couldn't. He loved her too much, he…
Isaacs got closer to her and shot her a second time in the same leg as she was still trying to get up. This was an execution, Trench realized as the tears started to roll down his cheeks too. Gabrielle looked at Trench, and he could see the pain, the sadness, the love. The call for help. The help he couldn't give to her.
''LET HER GO!'' he roared with pain and anger in his voice, and Gabrielle felt like crying. ''PLEASE!''
This was pure torture.
''I can't do that,'' Isaacs said with fake concern in his voice before he finally let go of the child.
Gabrielle exhaled loudly as Bohai went to hug her. Then he turned and ran to the door, not noticing the panic in Gabrielle's eyes.
''DADA!'' Bohai screamed as he ran into his father's arms.
Isaacs turned around and forced Gabrielle up to use her as a human shield as he put the canon of his gun against her temple. Gabrielle let out a small scream as the pain in her leg rose suddenly, and she could feel the blood pouring from it.
''Don't you dare!'' shouted an enraged Yang while he pointed his own gun at Isaacs.
''You can't kill me without taking her out,'' Isaacs said with a smile, and Gabrielle turned her head to look at Trench. He saw the regret and love in her eyes and felt his heart shatter as he knew what she was about to say.
''I'm calling out my life debt,'' she said to Yang as tears were rolling down their cheeks.
''No!'' said Yang as he started shaking. ''I am not killing you!''
''You are not killing me,'' Gabrielle corrected through her tears as she looked at her family. Then her eyes stopped on Toll's heartbroken expression. ''You're saving them.'' Barney pulled against his chains to try and get to his daughter.
''NO!'' Barney screamed as Gabrielle closed her eyes briefly.
''I love you all so much. I love you that much. I always have, and I always will,'' Gabrielle said before she looked back at Yang. ''It's ok. Help me save them.''
Yang could feel his heart break down to his very soul as he called for help into his coms. But no one was near him yet to give assistance.
''Well, time's up then,'' Isaacs said, and he began to pull the trigger.
''NO!'' they all shouted as a shot fired.
Then Isaacs dropped his gun as he took a step back, life leaving his body. He dropped dead on the floor as Gabrielle fell back on her knees.
''GABRIELLE!'' screamed Trench while pulling on his chains, not even feeling the pain of it as he saw his love lying on the floor in a pool of her own blood.
Yang ran to her and put pressure on the wound as he screamed for help in his coms. He hadn't missed his shot. He hadn't miss…
''Gabrielle, don't close your eyes! I didn't miss. You're not supposed to be bleeding that much!'' Yang cried as he was trying to follow the instructions Doc was giving him. ''Don't you dare close your eyes! HELP!''
''Yang we're here!'' Maggie shouted as she came through the door before she felt the blood drain from her face. ''NO!''
''Smilee, Luna, go. Get Doc and the others!'' Booker ordered as they came in.
Doc ran to Gabrielle as soon as he was freed and noticed the blood pouring from her leg.
''You didn't miss! It's not her chest it's her leg!'' Doc shouted as the others were forming a circle around her. ''Keep the pressure on her wound. I'll try and stop the bleeding. Booker, take a look at the kid and get him out of here!''
Booker went to it as he signaled for Drummer and Church to wait for them. He went with Thorn, Smilee, and Luna, leaving the others behind.
''There's too much bleeding, I can't stabilise her,'' Doc replied said as sheer panic was starting to make its way through them.
''Gabrielle, I can't lose you. Please, love, don't go,'' Trench begged as Doc was working his best on her.
''Love…you. So…so…much,'' Gabrielle managed to say as more tears fell down Trench's cheeks.
''Don't say it like it's goodbye, mein Liebe,'' Trench cried.
''I…think…we both know… it is,'' Gabrielle said as her whole body was trembling.
''It's not!'' Yang replied. ''Why did you even…?''
''I promised…Bohai…Make sure…he's…fine,'' Gabrielle said as Yang broke down in tears. ''It's ok…be safe…love you…go…''
''Thank you,'' Yang said between his tears before he kissed her hand and took his terrified son in his arms. They went to safety as Gabrielle began coughing blood.
''Gabrielle,'' cried Tool as he felt like his soul was shattering.
''Please, stay,'' she begged, and Tool began shaking as he was barely keeping himself from sobbing.
''Doc, tell me what to do!'' Barney begged as both he and Tool tried to help stabilize her.
''Please, love, don't go,'' Hale said as Toll was holding onto him for dear life.
''Trying,'' she said before she looked at Trench. ''But if I can't…I…love…you. Know that…I'll…never…stop.''
Trench broke down as he kissed her softly.
Then he looked at her, and she began to cry.
''Dad…Tool…I'm scared,'' she said before Barney took her hand in his.
''We're here,'' they both said at the same time.
''I can't see you,'' Gabrielle said, and Trench let out an agonizing sound.
''Just don't give up. Please don't give up,'' Toll begged her through his tears.
Gabrielle's eyes closed, and Doc looked up to see that Booker had come back with Church and more material.
''All right, it'll have to do,'' said Doc as Booker was handing him a portable stretcher.
They ran to the chopper as Doc instructed the kids about what he'd need for a quick field blood transfusion. By the time they'd arrived, Gabrielle was unconscious. She was put beside Mars. Booker redid his health check on the man as Doc kept working on Gabrielle. The kid was still stable, which was far more than could be said for the young woman.
They all felt time stop as Gabrielle went into V-fib.
''FUCK!'' Doc screamed as he started to do CPR.
Trench screamed in pain before Booker forced him to sat back to let Doc work. Barney and Tool held onto each other as they both felt like they were dying with her. They couldn't go through this.
''GABRIELLE, COME BACK!'' Barney begged as Tool was struggling to breathe.
Doc kept going at it for about five minutes before they saw him gradually begin to stop.
''NO!'' Trench screamed again as he got up. This time, even Booker couldn't stop him. He felt like he was drowning in pain at the sight of her being…He couldn't let her go.
''NEVER AGAIN YOU HEAR ME!?'' Trench begged as he shoved Doc on the side to hit Gabrielle on the chest.
[Gabrielle]
I saw a white blinding light as I felt a warm comfortable sensation. I looked around and saw…nothing. The pain was completely gone, as were my scars. I felt like I should be scared, but I wasn't.
''You don't have to be,'' said a female voice, and I turned around to see my mother smiling at me.
''Mom!'' I exclaimed before I ran into her arms.
It felt so real.
''You are so strong. You found your own way in the world, found a family and love. I am so proud of you,'' my mother said as I looked at her. ''I will always love you.''
''I love you to,'' I said as I frowned.
Then she disappeared, and I felt sadness wash over me.
''Mom?'' I asked before I heard steps behind me.
''She'll be waiting for you,'' Billy said as I saw him open his arms.
''I'm so sorry,'' I told him as he hugged me briefly.
''Don't be. I'm not. I'm ok,'' Billy promised.
''How can you be? I couldn't save you…'' I began before he disappeared, only to be replaced by James Woodsman.
''He wasn't yours to save. You, however, needed to be saved,'' James said, and I took his hand in mine.
''You needed to be saved too! I tried so hard!'' I replied, and he smiled at me.
''That's what makes you so special,'' James replied. ''I am so glad I got to meet you.''
''I…'' I began before he was gone, and Galgo was suddenly smiling at me. ''What does it mean?''
''That you give love, no matter how hard it is to do so. You never leave anyone behind,'' Galgo said. ''You bring us life, light and peace. It was an honor fighting for you and the family you all built. You gave me friendship and love. Thank you.''
''Always,'' I said as he disappeared too.
Then I saw Gunnar, and I felt the pain coming back tenfold as his beautiful, sad blue eyes were looking at me.
''Gunnar!'' I called him through my tears, and I began sobbing.
''I heard your calls, Gabrielle, and I am so, so sorry I couldn't answer them… Älskling,'' Gunnar said as he held me against him. ''I love you so much.''
''I'm sorry,'' I cried as my heart broke all over again. ''I love you too. Fuck, I love you so much. Come back to me, please! I know I don't deserve it, but it hurts so bad that you're gone. I can't do it without you. I fucked up everything. I became everything you feared and I…''
He was there, and the more I held onto him, the more he felt real to me. His skin, the texture of his shirt, his smell…I was taking everything in as much as I could while I still could.
''You have absolutely nothing to be sorry for, Gabrielle. I meant it,'' Gunnar said with tears in his eyes. ''You didn't fuck up, Gabrielle. You became you, and it's so amazing to see. It was me who wasn't ready. I was scared, but I'm not anymore because I know that you are strong and capable. You are a force to be reckoned with, and I shouldn't have messed it up.''
''I betrayed you…'' I cried, and Gunnar wiped my tears.
''You didn't,'' Gunnar said with a smile. ''You found love and happiness in a very dark world, just as I asked you to. Just not with the person either of us expected.''
I suddenly heard Trench's scream and automatically searched for him. Gunnar took my hand, and I looked at him.
''He is a good man, Gabrielle. He will love you forever. He will love you well. And you are in love with him; it's so beautiful to see,'' Gunnar said with a sincere smile. ''Go back to him, be happy. I'll be waiting for you when you're ready. I love you.''
''I love you too,'' I replied before I kissed him chastely on the lips.
It felt different. Gunnar smiled.
''You're going to be ok, princess. Everything's going to be ok,'' Gunnar said as he began to disappear and the pain was coming back. ''Just always keep fighting.''
I screamed in pain as it felt like someone was hitting me in the chest and everything became dark once again.
[Chopper]
She gasped for air as her heart started beating again.
Doc resumed his work on her as Trench took a step back without letting go of her hand. Then he had to switch place, and as soon as he let her go, her pulse sped up.
''What the fuck?'' Doc called as he was looking for a cause.
Trench touched her good leg, and she stabilized again.
''Holy fuck,'' Toll said as he realized what had happened, while they all realized what happened.
Gabrielle had been calling for Trench.
Doc stepped back as Trench took Gabrielle's hand into his own.
''Ich bin hier, Gabrielle, meine Liebe. Immer (I am here, Gabrielle, my love. Always),'' Trench said softly before he kissed her forehead.
Tool and Barney looked at the scene in absolute awe as the others were sharing emotional looks. Maggie took Barney's hand in her own as Trench was sitting beside Gabrielle.
''Will Gwabi be ok?'' Bohai asked his father, and Yang nodded with a small smile as he saw Trench looking at Gabrielle with nothing but love in his eyes.
''Yes, she will,'' Yang replied, and they all silently agreed with him.
They were finally going home.
