Hello, it is the 28th and I am back with a new chapter! This time it's a bit of a free theme as the last chapter after following the themes of PokeShipping week over on Tumblr for the month of November. I just wanted to do something sweet and something romantic from Ash to Misty. And even though this letter isn't from him to her, it certainly involves her, and shows his devotion and care to her. I hope you enjoy :)
Disclaimer: I own the story and the OCs mentioned!
Dear Jordan and Lynne,
Wow, this is weird. Unusual. Despite what you might think, writing letters isn't an odd thing for me. I know I probably don't seem the type but that is the truth. I actually love writing letters. Someone who I really adore writing little notes to is your daughter. Silly little notes, really. Love notes. But hey, you probably don't want to hear about that, do you?
Well, maybe Lynne does. I know how much she lights up at the idea of romance. But maybe even if either of you don't want to hear that, perhaps you should. It is no secret that I love your daughter, Misty. I'm absolutely besotted with her. Enthralled. Have been since I was a little kid. But I'm sure that goes without saying. I hope that goes without saying. Otherwise, I really wouldn't know what to do.
I'm writing to you both for an important reason. It might be completely untraditional of me but hey, I'm okay with that. As long as you don't feel disrespected. That is the last thing that I want. I might still be learning a whole bunch in my life but one thing I know is how important it is to respect the parents of the love of your life. And not just respect in the shallow sense but really get to know them and all sincerely get along. Misty is important to me and the two of you are too.
I get that me saying that right now might come off wrong, but I promise I mean it! I'm not just saying that because I want something because I don't. Well, I guess I kind of do. But I want the opportunity to work with you, not gain something from you.
I'm rambling. I'll cut to it:
I truly hope you know how much I care for your daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Williams. I believe that my devotion towards her through thick and thin has shown that. I believe building a home for her and our children alongside her has proven that. I deeply pray that every single day I show that, both to Misty herself and the two of you.
I mean it when I say she has bought complete and utter joy to my life. I'm sure you know how much she gloats about rescuing me on the day that we first met, tugging me out of the river. I roll my eyes at her, and I smirk when she recounts that tale. But she is right, you know? She rescued me from the river. She rescued me from everything.
I didn't turn from a brash ten-year-old to the man I hope I am now overnight, but I wholly trust that she is the reason that I've grown in the ways that I have. She makes it worth it. She inspires me. She pushes me. She nurtures me. She's the best partner that I could ask for. And I should know, I've had to work alongside and have encountered a lot of unsavory types!
She is the best. Plain and simple, your daughter is the best and I applaud you for that. Everything you have done for her and everything you weren't able to do shaped her into someone who I need to have as my wife.
There, I said it. That is what all of this is about.
I know it's tradition to ask and certainly in person and not by letter, but I really wish to get all my thoughts out in a way that we can both look back on whenever we like. It's tradition to ask the father. But because I see you two as such an inseparable force – a relationship that I see myself having with your daughter over the coming decades – I wish to ask Lynne as well.
So here goes:
Please, will you do me the honor of offering me your blessing so I can ask for your daughter's hand in marriage?
I promise to treat her well. No matter what we are going through. No matter the turbulence or the obstacles, I will stand by her, support her, and uplift her. The same goes for the children that we share. I will provide for them forever. I will provide more than just a roof over their head, food on their plates and clothes over their little heads. I will lend a listening ear. I will offer open arms no matter the occasion.
I will show more than just our children everything that a marriage can be. I will show everybody. But most importantly, I will show the two of you. Every day, I will prove to you that I am worthy of your blessing.
So, may I have it?
I certainly hope you think about it. And even more so, I hope you offer it!
This is a nerve-wracking occasion for me, as I'm sure you understand. But it's an exciting one also. And not just because of the prospect of becoming a husband to your wonderful daughter. You see, I see it as an honor to be able to even ask you in the first place.
Once upon a time, I wondered if I would have to sit next to your shared grave and ask you this question in the same way I have asked for your advice before over the years. I've certainly chatted to you lots!
So yes, I see this as an honor to even ask, let alone be given the blessing. I sure hope you say yes. You will both make me an incredibly happy man and certainly, Misty will make me an even happier one.
I eagerly await your response. And thank you for hearing me out.
From your daughter's devoted partner,
Ash.
There you go! Thanks so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed :) Before writing this, I couldn't help but wonder if I've written something of the kind before. But even if it may be a little repeat, I certainly wanted this chapter as part of this story because I think it's one of the best ways to show Ash and Misty's love for each other. While their childhoods may have been different and difficult in separate ways, they have a really wonderful relationship and later, marriage, which certainly captures the attention (and hearts) of those around them :3 Thanks again and I will be back on Wednesday 7th with my first Christmas upload over on Pikachu Tales. I hope to see you then!
Amy signing out :)
