Chapter 63 Drunk Jax

"

Ava had spent a fair amount of time watching friends go from normal to drunk and was always amazed by how they changed. Shy people could suddenly become outgoing and wanting to be the center of attention. Others became happy, giggling constantly. Still others became angry and violent. When Ava got drunk, she let her Hallmark ideals slip. Guys she had no interest in, suddenly became irresistible. She was afraid if she got drunk with Jax, this might happen to her.

Ava was convinced that if she had sex with Jax, not only would it be a terrible experience; it would give him a strategic advantage over her that she would never be able to overcome. And if she had sex with him once, he would expect her to have sex with him again. She could justify sex with Jax once as a drunken mistake, but that's all it would be—a mistake.

The truth was sex with Jax scared the hell out of her. It would be like having sex with Big Foot or some zoo animal. His body intimidated her with all its muscles. And then there was his reputation. He'd screwed so many of the girls in Charming, he was probably riddled with STDs. She didn't want to catch something whether it could be cured or not.

She had a friend who had sex with a guy that was really big. She had to call in sick to work the next day. Strangely enough, she wanted to sleep with him again. Ava listened to the story in horror unable to understand why her friend wanted to be with the guy again. And her friend had been with a lot of guys.

What if Jax were huge and he hurt her? He was definitely the type of guy who would be rough—definitely a get in, get out and get off kind of guy. Sex with Jax would be painful and horrible.

She'd had enough bad sex in her life; what she wanted was a guy who would romance her. She wanted a love that would last longer than two weeks. Jax wasn't that man or she would have fallen in love with him already. And what was there to fall in love with? He wasn't her kind of guy.

He was being kind of nice drunk. He didn't paw at her like some men did when they got drunk. He just slurred his words and was clumsy. He kept spilling his drink.

When he staggered his way to the bathroom, their waitress seized the opportunity to come talk to Ava.

"We really can't serve him anymore," the young woman explained. "I should have cut him off a couple of drinks ago. He's had enough to knock most men out."

"Thank you for everything," Ava said. She signed off on the tab. The hotel was picking it up to make up for them getting stuck in the elevator. She handed over a large wad of cash to the waitress.

"Thanks," she said. "I appreciate the cash. Sometimes we don't get all our tips."

"You're welcome. You were really great," Ava said. "Could you do me one favor? We had a bet on who would get drunk first," Ava paused and dug in her handbag until she pulled out a pen and paper. "Could you write that you were our waitress and he got drunk first?"

"Sure," the waitress said with a grin.

She quickly wrote out a statement, signed it and handed it to Ava.

"Are you ready to leave now?"

"Yeah, I should get him back to the room while he can still walk."

"Probably best if I call for a golf cart. We don't want him to end up in the bushes."

Ava wouldn't have minded if Jax ended up in the bushes. It would be funny as hell, but she nodded her head and bit the inside of her cheeks to keep from laughing at the idea. She pictured Jax waking up in some bushes wondering what the hell had happened to him. It probably wouldn't be the first time he woke up and couldn't remember how he'd gotten to where he'd ended up.

The waitress helped her walk Jax out to the front of the Kona Club. Staff wasn't allowed to take photos with guests inside the club. The young woman asked if she could take a selfie with both Jax and Ava. Ava hated taking pictures, but she agreed. She also had her take a picture of her and Jax because it would help prove her case that Jax was drunk.

A golf cart arrived and they took seats at the back of the cart. The seats inside the cart were full with other guests who had too much to drink or didn't want to walk to their hotel rooms.

"Are we on a ride?" Jax asked looking at Ava. His words were so slurred she had trouble understanding him.

The back was open making it possible for someone to fall off the back of the cart. Ava had to put one arm around his waist and her other hand on the side rail to hold him in the cart so he wouldn't fall out.

"Yeah, we're at Disneyland. We're on Mr. Toad's wild ride."

"We went to Disneyland on my . . . tenth birthday. Don't remember this ride."

"We should go sometime," Ava said.

Jax might be kind of fun at Disneyland. She usually went alone because she could move quicker and go on more rides that way, but it might be nice having him along if he were in a kind mood.

"I don't feel so good," Jax whispered his head bobbing on his chest.

"If you throw up, turn your head away from me," Ava said.

They arrived at their hotel. Jax got off the golf cart and promptly vomited. Ava dodged and the bushes in front of their hotel got a puke shower. Ava giggled.

Jax moaned while Ava took a couple of pictures with her phone to add to her proof that he had gotten drunk first.

"Let's stand here a moment in case you vom . . ." Ava broke off when Jax showered the bush with vomit again.

"Feel so much better," he mumbled. "Not gonna throw up again."

One thing he'd learned from all his years drinking in the clubhouse and everywhere else was how to puke and not get it on your clothes. It was an important skill. No one wanted to pass out in vomit soaked clothes.

Ava, her arm around him to help him stand, guided him into the elevator and to their hotel room. She had no idea how many drinks he'd had. She hadn't even bothered to count.

When they got to their room, she wasn't sure what to do with him. There was no way she was going to undress him. He was trying to untie sneakers and couldn't manage to find the shoe laces.

"Here, let me help you," Ava said bending down and untying his shoes for him.

"Sweet Ava," Jax slurred.

"Sit on the bed to take them off or you'll fall over and I'm not strong enough to help you stand."

Jax mumbled something that Ava couldn't decipher but he sat down and tried to take off his shoes. He kept trying to untie them again.

"I untied them for you," Ava reminded him.

She took a little video of him trying to remove his shoes to build her case that he was the one that got drunk first.

Jax couldn't seem to figure out how to get his shoes off. Ava stepped in and removed his shoes for him so he wouldn't get into bed with them still on his feet.

If he couldn't manage the easier task of taking his shoes off, he would never manage to get his clothes off. It wouldn't be the end of the world if he slept in them. He had plenty of other clothes.

"OK," Ava said. "Get into bed and get some sleep."

"Brush teeth," Jax said and tried to stand up.

His dedication to good oral hygiene considering how drunk he was was impressive, but there was no way he could manage that task with his impaired coordination.

"How about some nice sugar free gum?" Ava suggested. "It's going to be too hard for you to brush your teeth."

Ava dug out gum from her handbag, unwrapped several pieces and handed them to him. This was just too easy.

Jax mumbled something that might have been thanks and put the gum in his mouth and began chewing it.

"Now lay down and try to get some sleep."

Jax managed to remove his shirt after the sixth try.

"Stand up for a minute and I'll turn the bed down and you can get under the covers."

Jax was determined to remove his khaki pants. He fumbled with trying to get his belt off.

"I'll help you with your belt if you get under the covers," Ava said.

He nodded his head. Ava walked over and unfastened his belt and removed it.

"Nice Ava," he slurred.

"OK now get into bed."

Ava had to help him into bed. She grabbed a small trash can near the desk in their room and placed it near him.

"If you feel like you're going to throw up, throw up in here."

Jax nodded and got into bed with more of Ava's help.

Ava looked at Jax and decided marriage to him wouldn't be so bad if he could be drunk most of the time. He was actually pretty nice. It wasn't enough to save him from her retaliation.

Ava stuffed her mouth with almost two packages of gum and began to chew. She was not going to go soft and not take her revenge. His behavior was horrible. She remembered being scared when he'd barged in on her while she was in the shower. He had been such a bastard when he refused to leave the bathroom until she came out of the shower. It had only been luck and some fast thinking that she was able to prevent him from seeing her naked.

The anger was back! Dog kissing bastard! Wait until tomorrow morning when he wakes up!

Ava finished chewing her gum and checked on Jax. She nudged him but he was out cold. Carefully she arranged her gum all over his facial hair.

Jax Teller was going to have to shave to get the gum out of his facial hair. She fell asleep with a grin on her face.
