Author's Note: The image for this chapter isn't the normal shirtless Jax pic because Jax got a bit of a makeover and now he looks like Ava wants him to look. Next chapter—back to the shirtless pics.

Getting the gum out of Jax's beard turned into an ordeal of cutting and shaving until finally he was gum free. He enjoyed the hot shave. He'd gotten one before prom at Floyd's, the town's old school barber shop that Piney loved. He and Opie had gone with four girls because they could.
He also got his first haircut from a barber other than Floyd and the barbers in prison. This was a more upscale experience and a vast improvement over the prison haircut. The barber washed his hair and then carefully cut the gum out of his hair before he then began to shape his hair. He even dried his hair. When he spun him around in his chair, Jax barely recognized himself. It had been years since he'd been clean shaven and he was used to his shaggy hair. This was a definite improvement. He looked more like a businessman than a biker. It was for that reason he hated his transformation.
He did say complimentary things to the barber who was beaming at him, proud of how he'd polished up Jax Teller. Probably every guy who sat down in that chair would have loved the transformation, but Jax was willing to bet that none of them was an outlaw biker.
He was going to be in for a world of shit talk from the guys when he returned to Charming. The first one who asked him to pose like he was a male model was going to get punched.
Jax had just walked out of the barber shop when his cell phone rang. He answered expecting to hear Ava's voice.
"Hi, Jax," Ava said doing her best imitation of the whore who gave her phone number to Jax.
"Ava?" Jax guessed. The voice sounded a little like Ava's.
For a moment, Ava thought Jax recognized her but there had been a note of doubt in his voice. This wasn't the time for her to abandon the plan to lure him into meeting with her as a test to see if he were going to be faithful to her or cheat the first chance he got.
"No, it's me from yesterday when I gave you my number," Ava bluffed. "Don't you remember?"
"Sure I remember you," Jax said. "How did you get my number?"
"Come on, Jax," she purred, "I have my ways. Let's get together and I'll show you what a good time really is."
"I told you I was married and not interested," Jax said sternly. "I only took your number to be polite and not litter the beach. I would never cheat on Ava."
He only took her number to not litter the beach? That was too over the top to be believable, but he had a feeling that Ava would buy it. This was a test to see if he would cheat on her. It wasn't a bad plan. Even her imitation was pretty good, but he was just a few steps ahead of her.
"I know how to do things that will blow your mind," Ava promised still pretending to be the slut she'd talked to only a few minutes ago. She couldn't believe that Jax was turning the slut girl down. Maybe she was really ugly.
Jax doubted there was anything left that he hadn't done with a girl sexually that could blow his mind. He'd partied with porn stars after all. It was probably not a good idea to mention that.
"Not interested. Don't call me again, Delia," Jax said. He'd made up the name. He couldn't remember her real name anyway. He'd forgotten it as soon as she said it because he knew he wasn't going to hook up with her.
"Keep my number in case you change your mind," Ava said in a pouty voice.
"I won't Delia," Jax said ending the call.
Ava couldn't believe that conversation had gone like that. Jax had actually told the slut he was married and he said he would never cheat on her. Could she possibly have misjudged Jax? Maybe he was kind of a good guy. Maybe she should be nicer to him. Start over with a clean slate and forget the dog kisses and his coming in the bathroom while she was taking a shower.
Wait a minute! That bastard had stood there leaning against the long bathroom counter and waited for her to come out of the shower and threatened to strip and come into the shower if she didn't come out. He was a pig! Damn. She'd just gotten herself mad at him all over again.
Jax was pleased with himself. He hadn't been fooled by Ava trying to imitate the girl who had given him her phone number's voice. He was pretty sure it was Ava and when he made up a name for the girl and she hadn't corrected him, his suspicions were confirmed. It felt good to outwit Ava.
He was glad he'd kept the girl's number to make Ava jealous. He had played the devoted husband perfectly. It would have been easy to make up some reason to get away for an hour or so and visit the blonde and the girl with the pink hair for a fun threesome, but he was staying faithful despite Ava refusing to have sex with him.
Now tonight, it was going to be his turn to get her drunk. That had to turn out better than him getting drunk. Maybe Ava would loosen up after a few drinks and they would finally have sex.
Ava was waiting for Jax. She watched a blonde guy, clean-shaven with perfectly cut hair walk towards her. Tall, broad shouldered with crystal blue eyes—he was everything a man should be except something was wrong. It was Jax! What the hell was going on with her?
