Chapter 73 Jax Scores a Hit
"
Jax's plan to drive Ava into a sexual frenzy forcing her to seduce him didn't work—not even a little. She seemed just fine with all the sexual tension building between them. It was also possible that she didn't feel it. After the sweet interlude when she was drunk, she was nicer to him but he was afraid that she saw him as a buddy and not a lover.
He'd easily been with over 500 women and yet he didn't know anything at all about how a woman's mind works. He hadn't given the matter any thought because he knew what was more important and that was how a woman's body worked and how to please and fulfill a woman's sexual needs.
The problem with Ava was she didn't seem to have any sexual needs. She'd warmed up to him and let him kiss her that once, but since then she'd treated him like a . . . friend. It was an insult. She didn't seem to notice that he was sexy as hell and other women looked at him with lust in their eyes. What the hell was wrong with Ava? Why couldn't she see him as the hot desirable man that every other woman in the world saw him as?
He thought for sure riding on the bike with him between her legs would give her ideas, but so far absolutely nothing. They had two days left in Maui before they left for Louisiana and he had failed to score with his bride. Jax Teller was not used to failing with women. In fact, this was the first time. He didn't like it one damned bit.
Ava was enjoying playing Jax. She knew that he expected her to be seduced by riding on the motorcycle. He had even asked her to rub suntan lotion on his body. He must have thought she would be overcome with desire rubbing her hands on his muscular nearly naked body. She wasn't because Ava knew that sex killed romance.
A man might spend hours making out with her, but the second things progressed to sex, she was lucky if he spent five minutes on the romantic stuff she craved. That was one of the main reasons Ava seldom had sex with a guy; it always destroyed the relationship. Men might put in some effort in the seduction phase, but once their goal was achieved they thought that meant they didn't have to do the romantic foreplay anymore. After sex with a guy, his new idea of foreplay was how long it took your clothes to hit the floor. They forgot about kissing and touching and those were the parts she enjoyed the most. The actual sex was boring and unfulfilling and definitely far below romance novel standards.
She usually ended relationships before sex. She'd fallen out of love by then. With Jax, it was different. She hadn't fallen in love with him at first sight the way she usually did with men. In fact, she disliked him on sight. He was conceited, arrogant and thought he was God's gift to women. Getting to know him better hadn't changed her opinion, but he was capable of tenderness.
The way he'd taken care of her when she was drunk went a long way to getting her to see him more favorably. It didn't mean she was going to sleep with him though. She still wanted him to kiss her to see if her drunk memory of his kissing her was right and that he didn't really kiss like a dog, but she was in no hurry.
She had Jax Teller right where she wanted him—he was trying to subtly seduce her and she was just fine with his attempts. It was funny as hell because she could see his sexual frustration and knew she was the cause.
She wasn't in love with him but she did enjoy traveling with him now that they were getting along better. She enjoyed the bike trips and going out dancing and to clubs in the evenings. She was growing to like him.
Jax found Hawaiian print shirts in the same pattern for every member of his MC and sent them back to Charming each shirt sent in a separate package to make it more fun. Jax also got Gemma a freshwater pearl necklace.
He even surprised her with a pearl ring. He said he wanted her to have a souvenir of their trip. It had been a surprisingly romantic gesture. She wanted to believe that it came from his heart rather than the place where men usually think from—their dicks.
Tonight they had dinner at the Maui resort they were staying at and then they went to a club for a few drinks and dancing. That was something she liked about Jax—he seemed to enjoy dancing as much as she did.
Slow dancing with him was especially enjoyable because it was seductive and sexy with his hands on her, their bodies touching as they moved together yet knowing that it wasn't going to go any further. Tomorrow night they were going to another luau before flying to New Orleans the following morning.
They were sitting at a table in a bar at the resort decorated in the usual Hawaiian theme of bamboo and bright tropical prints. The colors of Hawaii were joyful and bright unlike what she thought of as New York all cold and gray. Jax was watching his alcohol consumption and Ava's too. He didn't want her to get too drunk because he couldn't have sex with her if she was so drunk she didn't know what she was doing and after that last long slow dance, she seemed like she just might be in the mood for a little Jax Teller lovin'.
A man in a blue and white striped shirt unbuttoned almost to the waist to reveal a couple of gold chains staggered up to their table.
"You Jax Teller?" the dark haired man demanded.
"Yes," Jax said. It was a question he was almost tired of answering.
"Think you're a tough guy don't you?" the man's voice was slurred.
"I know I'm a tough guy," Jax said. He turned back and took a sip of his drink trying to end the conversation.
Gemma had brought Jax up to be a tough guy. It was JT that he went to for comfort. He remembered running to his mother telling her about a big kid who took his scooter. She told him that's what happened to weak kids. You had to be tough to protect yourself and your property. She told him to go out and get his scooter back. One black eye and a bloody nose later, he'd taken back his scooter and learned Gemma's lesson.
Clay liked to brag that SAMCRO had the best and toughest fighters. Boxing and different kinds of combat training from karate and judo to Krav Maga, Clay made sure they got trained. They would go on runs and into bars outside of Charming (of course) to get into bar fights to stay in practice when they couldn't find rival MCs for some ass kicking, so Jax had been fight tested many times.
"I bet you were someone's girlfriend when you were in prison," the guy said, "because you're so pretty."
Jax turned to look at the guy again, his right hand balled into a fist. He had been working on controlling his impulsivity and anger which was the only reason the guy was still standing and not knocked out on the floor.
"Go fuck yourself you little pussy," Jax said through clenched teeth.
Ava was watching this exchange wide-eyed. She'd seen a few fights in clubs but she'd never been this close to being involved in one.
"Drunk asshole," Ava added. She felt this need to back up Jax.
"You don't scare me. I could kick your ass," the man said. "You got a pretty nice piece of ass with you. Mouthy though. You need to beat that out of her," the man reached over and gave Ava's butt a squeeze.
Jax hit the man with a lightening fast combination of a punch to the eye and to the gut knocking the man to the ground before he could even get his hand into a fist.
Immediately too large men dressed in black with security written across the front and back of their shirts came over to their table.
"Sorry about that Mr. Teller," the taller of the two said to Jax before roughly pulling the drunk man to his feet.
"No problem. He put his hands on my wife. He's lucky he didn't get worse."
"Don't blame you a bit," the other security guard said. "Would you mind coming outside and taking a picture with us. We're not allowed to take pictures with guests inside."
"Sure. Are you going to be OK alone?" Jax asked Ava.
"I'll be fine."
Jax left with the two security guards and the drunk man. When he returned he found a red headed guy with a wispy beard in his early twenties talking to Ava.
"Hey loser," Jax greeted the guy. "Get lost."
"You're Jax Teller."
"Correct."
"I don't want any trouble. I think you're awesome."
"He thinks he's pretty awesome too," Ava said.
The guy scurried away.
"Smart mouth," Jax said to Ava.
Ava leaned close to Jax and put her lips close to his ear.
"I think you're kind of awesome sometimes," Ava whispered.
Jax smiled at Ava and kissed her on the cheek.
"You're going to make me conceited with all the flattery," he replied.
Jax knew that finally tonight he was going to get to have sex with Ava. He could tell just how much she wanted him. The dam of her desire was bursting and tonight she was going to seduce him into having sex with her. He could hardly wait.
