The Doctor sighed. "Let's go to the kitchen, I want some tea before I get into the details." He said. I nodded silently and followed him through the TARDIS hallways.

We walked for barely a minute before a door marked 'Kitchen' came up. The Doctor walked in and I followed, stopping in the doorway to look around.

It was like an eclectic mix of styles, with old fashioned kitchen islands, futuristic tech for kitchen appliances, modern light fixtures and wide arrays of fruit in big wooden bowls. It looked awesome.

The Doctor walked over to a kettle that looked like it could also double as a high tech blender and flicked it on. "While we're waiting for that to boil." The Doctor said, turning round with a massive fake grin. "You want to tell me how you escaped the Time War?"

I sigh and nod, sitting down on one of the old fashioned wooden stools that were surprisingly comfortable.

"It was a terrible day Doctor. I had just finished scrapping a destroyed War Capsule, the pilot dead before her regeneration kicked in. I was walking to my office for a quick nap when a couple members of the high council walked by."

I was going through my memories of that day, still feeling the terror as if it was still happening months later, even when I wasn't the soul that experienced it.

"They were whispering amongst themselves about the President's decision to initiate the Final Sanction. I'd read about it in the library, how it was the ultimate of last resorts and that it would rip apart the Time Vortex, destroying the universe and only the Time Lords could potentially survive as 'creatures of consciousness'. I didn't know what that meant but I knew that it would be terrible, I mean, who would want to live as just a consciousness, a ghost for all intents and purposes."

"I decided that if I was going to die, it wasn't going to be as a Time Lord. I theorised that if I put myself into the pocket watch that when the Final Sanction happens I would die as a human, freeing me from being a ghost. I ducked into a random Time Capsule that was scheduled for scrapping and managed to pilot it into space far away from Gallifrey. I had just finished setting up the Chameleon Arch and was undergoing the transformation - which I do not recommend by the way - when I saw Gallifrey destroyed in flames. All the Dalek ships surrounding Gallifrey were also destroyed, so with my last moments of lucidity I put in the destination Earth 21st century, and set it to self-destruct upon landing."

"I don't remember what happened after that, my first memories are me in my flat, about two months before you turned up. All I had that was from my old life was the pocket watch, and I just knew it would open in two months and that I had to keep it safe. Opening it felt like I was being reborn, that I was finally who I was meant to be." I finished explaining. There was a small silence that was soon broken by the kettle beeping, apparently done.

The Doctor didn't say anything, just turned around and busied himself with the tea.

"Tea?" He finally asked.

"Dash of milk, two sugars please." I requested, getting a nod from the Doctor. As he went about making the tea, I decided to try Observe again, now that I was fully Time Lord once more.

WARNING! PERSON YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO OBSERVE HAS MENTAL SHIELDS. CHANCE OF DETECTION:45% (40% WITH LUCK STAT ACTIVE)

DO YOU STILL WISH TO OBSERVE?

I silently said no, vanishing the box. A 50% increase in mental power, that was good, although the Doctors shields were still too powerful for me to comfortably risk it.

The Doctor turned around then, silently placing the tea in front of me. I nodded my thanks and took a sip, it was lovely.

"Time for my side of the story then." The Doctor muttered into his tea. He took a sip, a deep breath, then began. "I had just found out about the High Council's plan to unleash the Final Sanction, and decided that I would not allow this war to destroy the entire universe. I managed to break into the Omega Vault, home to the most powerful and forbidden weapons of the Time Lords."

The Doctor took another sip and started again. "All the weapons had been used in the war, except for one. The Galaxy Eater, nicknamed The Moment, was never to be used because it had been rumoured to become sentient, to have a consciousness even. Not even the Time Lords wanted to risk being judged unworthy by such a powerful weapon, for fear it might decide to destroy them instead. I managed to use it, and I set it to Time Lock the entire war on Gallifrey. I sentenced my entire race and most of the Daleks to death and watched my planet burn from my TARDIS."

There was another silence. The Doctor was hunched over his tea as if he was waiting for me to punch him, scream at him, hate him. I didn't do any of those things, I just got up from my stool, walked over to the Doctor, and hugged him tightly.

"I don't blame you, Doctor. you saved the Universe from the madness of the Time Lords. The whole of existence owes itself to you, even if they'll never realise it." I whispered in his ear. He was tensed up when I hugged him, but when I said that I didn't blame him he crumpled, as if he had been holding strong for years and had been told he could finally let go.

We sat together like that for a few minutes, the Doctor sobbing on my shoulder and whispering names and apologies as I rubbed his back and just let him get it all out. After five minutes or so the Doctor's breathing evened out and he stopped talking, instead breathing deeply and regularly. He had fallen asleep.

I awkwardly got up, keeping tight hold of him so I didn't drop him, and made my way out of the kitchen. I was just about to start randomly searching the TARDIS for his bedroom when a random door seemed to melt into existence just next to me.

"Thank you old girl." I whispered, keeping my voice down so I didn't disturb the sleeping Time Lord. A light flashed once, as if in acknowledgement. Gently opening the door, I was introduced to the Doctor's bedroom.

It was spartan like, with only a double bed, a coat hook on the opposite side of the door, and an open door that led to a bathroom. It just reminded me of the fact that even though the Doctor put on a show of being a happy fun loving alien, he was still very saddened by his actions and was still recovering from the War.

Placing the Doctor down on his bed, I got the covers over him and quietly made my way out of his room. Closing the door behind me, I was met with another door with a Gallifreyan marking, that read out as Engineer. Happiness welled up inside me as I saw indisputable proof that I was now a part of the TARDIS Crew.

Opening the door, I stood in the doorway in shock, it was my dream room. There was a massive king sized bed in deep green covers, a window that, when uncovered, showed the expanse of space filled with glittering stars. There were moving photos in frames across the wall, showcasing amazing works of art and machinery and there was also an ensuite with a large bathtub, big enough for swimming in.

I was busy taking all this in, when the light that was over my new bed flashed again. Chuckling slightly, I took the hint and undressed, getting into my extremely soft and comfortable bed. When I was fully in, the curtains and doors closed and the lights dimmed, showing me a ceiling filled with constellations. With a massive smile, I fell asleep as the TARDIS drifted silently through space.
