Chapter 103 Laroy Meet

Jax sat beside Opie as he drove the van. He quickly pulled off Sack's cut, folded it and put it on the seat behind him next to Chibs. He put on his own cut once more thinking of his father. He wondered what his father would make of his best friend marrying his wife and trying to kill his son.

"Gemma's going to know Clay got voted out the second she sees the president's patch on your cut," Opie said.

"I'm going to tell her that we've made some temporary changes with club duties and she can't tell Clay. Ope, I need you to make sure Tig's on board with keeping his mouth shut and he doesn't say anything to Gemma."

"You got it," Opie said.

"And when she finds out the club killed Clay?" Chibs asked.

"I'm not telling her that, but she'll figure it out. What does she expect the club to do? He tried to have me killed a couple of times. Once she finds out Clay tried to have me killed, she'll want to kill him herself."

"Losing Clay is going to break her heart," Opie said.

"Give her two months and she'll have another guy," Jax said cynically. There was truth to his words because it had taken his mother less than two months before she hooked up with Clay. He had always suspected that she might have been cheating with Clay before JT died, but it wasn't a truth he wanted to know. He still carried some bitterness over how quickly she'd replaced his father in her life. She might have been able to replace her husband, but he'd never been able to replace his father.

"Maybe she and Unser will hook up," Chibs suggested.

"Forgot to mention it at the table. Unser's at St. Thomas. He's got a day or two left. Fucking HMO cancer treatment."

"Fucking HMOs," Chibs and Opie said in unison.

"There's always Tig," Opie suggested.

"Can you imagine what those two could get up to?" Chibs asked chuckling.

Jax's mind instantly thought of Gemma in a leather dominatrix outfit whipping a chained up Tig. Once back in high school, he'd looked in her closet for a duffel bag when he found that outfit. He'd repressed that memory until Chibs mentioned Gemma and Tig hooking up.

"Stop," Jax groaned.

"I think you are going to have your hands full with Ava and Gemma fighting over who's going to be queen of the clubhouse," Opie said.

"I can see the cat fights now," Chibs said with a gleam of anticipation in his eyes.

"No cat fights. The president's old lady is responsible for the crow-eaters. If Gemma weren't my mother, I'd ban her from the clubhouse and members and the friends of the club would shun her."

Opie and Chibs exchanged looks both thinking that Jax was naïve if he thought Gemma would surrender her position as leader of the crow-eaters so easily especially since Jax and Ava hadn't been together very long.

"Ava looks like she's got a little fight in her at least when it comes to Ima," Chibs said.

"So how is married life treating you?" Opie asked.

"It has some good points. I'm not always out hunting pussy every night," Jax said.

"What hunt?" Chibs demanded. "I thought you just walked over to a girl, said I'm Jax and you're with me tonight."

"There may have been some of that," Jax said chuckling. "Not with Ava though. She wasn't very impressed with me when we first met. It took a lot of work to get her to even like me a little."

"Hard to believe any woman is immune to your charm," Chibs said.

"Definitely a first," Opie chimed in.

"Ava is different," Jax said. "I never knew women could be so complicated."

"That's because you've never had one around for more than a night or two," Chibs said.

"There is that," Jax admitted.

Opie parked the van. Laroy was already waiting for Jax on the bench near the duck pond.

"Didn't hear your bikes," Laroy said.

"I can't ride for a couple of weeks. Broke a couple of ribs in the last attempt on my life."

Laroy chuckled.

"Last attempt?"

"Third," Jax clarified.

"Looks like a little regime change too. How long you been president?"

"Pretty recent."

"Congratulations on getting out of prison and sticking it to those ATF fucks."

"Yeah, they fake busted me with one of the types of guns that we don't sell," Jax said laughing. "I have a business proposition for you."

"I'm all about business."

"Clay got arrested. He's going to be in Sanwa lock-up tonight. I need him dead. You interested?"

"Yeah," Laroy replied without a second's hesitation.

"We wipe out the debt for the guns."

"When you need him dead?"

"The sooner the better. You hit him in the next forty-eight hours and I'll give you the twenty of our gun warehouse and you can have everything that's inside. Some KG9s, Sigs and a couple of cases of mixed ammo. It's worth about 20k. SAMCRO's out of guns for awhile. Too much ATF heat."

Laroy rubbed his hand over his chin as he thought over the offer. It was tempting, but he thought he could get more out of Jax.

"We're going to need to buy a guard or two. Takes cash."

"How much?"

"5k upfront."

Jax appeared to think it over.

"OK. I'll give you an additional 5k if you can make it happen in 24 hours."

"Make it an additional 15 and I'll make it happen tonight."

"10 as soon as we can confirm he's dead."

"Done."

Jax raised his hand showing five fingers to Chibs who was near the van. Opie was behind Jax watching his back. Chibs opened the van, put five stacks of cash into a white bag that had once held donuts and brought the bag to Jax. He returned to the van.

"I don't care how you kill him as long as it doesn't look like suicide," Jax said. Clay's life insurance policies wouldn't pay out for a suicide.

"Not a problem."

Jax handed Laroy the bag after he and Jax slapped hands sealing the deal.

Once Jax was in the van and they were on their way back to Charming, he briefed Chibs and Opie.

"You're right about Clay," Opie said. "The sooner he's dead the better."

"Now all you have to do is tell Gemma Clay's locked up for killing Lowen," Chibs said.

"You could tell her the modern way," Opie suggested.

"How?"

"Text," Opie replied with a grin.

Jax pulled out his phone.
