Chapter 111 Gemma Ava Dust up

Jax sat Ava down that night and explained that when he visited dying Chief Unser, he revealed that Gemma had known for several years that Clay had killed his father. He couldn't forgive her betrayal and after confronting her, he was cutting off all contact with her. To his surprise, Ava didn't take the news gleefully. She gently put her arms around him and gave him a hug.

They made out a little, but his sore ribs kept him from doing more than a little light kissing. Damn Clay and Lowen!

Monday morning, Gemma pulled herself together and decided to go look for a job. Outside of working fast food jobs in high school, she'd only ever worked for TM, but she was Gemma Teller, she knew a lot of people and she could easily find a job.

She decided she would be good at retail sales. She went into six stores with job openings and struck out. She was just leaving a furniture store when she saw Ava strutting into the store.

That spoiled little bitch thought she was going to replace her in Jax's heart. Well, she had news for her. Jax was mad at her now, but he would come around. She was his mother and he would never be able to do without her.

Gemma began walking past Ava.

"Aren't you going to say "hello" to your mother-in-law?" Gemma asked sharply.

Ava sensing trouble unclipped her keys from her purse. She kept a canister of pepper spray on her key ring. She unobtrusively slipped the canister into her hand.

"I don't have a mother-in-law," Ava said. "My husband's mother died on the same road that claimed his father leaving behind a horrible old woman. You betrayed your son."

The word "old" when followed by "lady" was acceptable to Gemma, but being called an old woman by this little bitch was over the top. Gemma hated Ava from the moment she met her.

"What do you know about it?" Gemma demanded. She would have smacked Ava by now, but she wanted to hear what story Jax told Ava. If she knew her son, it wouldn't be the complete truth.

"I know you knew your bastard of a husband killed Jax's father. How could you have stayed with a man knowing that? You are . . ." Ava paused trying to come up with a word vile enough "a despicable old hag."

That was it. Ava called her old again. Gemma had enough. She loved nothing better than delivering a well earned slap across the face. Ava was too fast for her. She stepped out of reach.

"You come after me again and I'll give you a face full of pepper spray," Ava cautioned her finger already on the trigger of her pepper spray.

Gemma didn't take that as a warning. She took it as an invitation to put a beat down on the little bitch. She stepped forward and tried to grab Ava's long reddish brown hair. She wanted to grab her by the neck and choke the life out of the little whore.

Ava had her hand on the trigger of her pepper spray and gave Gemma a full blast of pepper spray to the eyes, nose and mouth. Gemma immediately doubled over, her eyes watering.

She stepped around Gemma's slumped figure and walked up to a young blonde sales associate.

"Sorry about the pepper spray, but she tried to attack me," Ava said.

"I saw," the young woman admitted. "I was in the clubhouse once and she grabbed me by the hair and pulled me out of the clubhouse for smiling at Clay. Glad to see her getting a little payback."

"You know that Clay tried to kill my husband Jax Teller," Ava confided. It wasn't much of a secret. It had just hit the evening news last night.

"It doesn't surprise me. There was always something off about him. My name's Stacy. How can I help you."

Ava introduced herself and explained what she needed. Jax had tasked her with finding a six or seven foot dark blue vinyl or pleather sofa for the waiting area of TM. A mission involving shopping was something Ava enjoyed.

The young woman showed her a sofa and the colors they could get it in. Ava selected a navy blue that was exactly what Jax wanted. She ordered the sofa. It would take three weeks to get it, but Ava went ahead with the order. It was likely they would have to order a sofa wherever she bought it and Jax had asked that she buy the sofa in Charming. It was important to support other local businesses.

Ava also got a half dozen black straight back arm chairs to use in the waiting area until the sofa arrived and they stacked so they would fit in the area perfectly to provide extra needed. Next Ava got a navy desk chair for the office that would also need to be ordered. It would be delivered with the sofa. The furniture company would deliver the chairs next week after the office was finished.

She waited until she was in her car before calling Jax.

"Don't get mad at me," Ava began the conversation.

"What did you do?" Jax demanded.

"Gemma tried to attack me at the furniture store so I was forced to defend myself with pepper spray."

"How did that work out for you?" Jax asked barely able to contain his laughter.

"She didn't lay a hand on me and I pepper sprayed her."

"Good girl," Jax said approvingly. He'd seen Gemma go after crow-eaters. He didn't blame Ava for pepper spraying her. It was better than getting into a cat fight and losing of handfuls of hair.

Ava smiled happy that Jax wasn't mad. He may have said he was done with his mother, but she wasn't entirely sure he meant it. It seemed like he was serious at least for now.

She told him that she had all of the furniture they needed and was on her way back home. He suggested she come by TM, see the progress on the renovation and he would take her to lunch. She was pleased by the invitation. She was started to really enjoy being married as strange as the idea sounded.

Gemma was still slumped in her car still recovering from the pepper spray when Ava left the furniture store. Typical spoiled brat. Fighting with arms and legs wasn't good enough for her. She had to use pepper spray. Little bitch.

Jax and Ava might think that she was down, but she was a long way from being finished with them. She was going to get revenge on that little bitch Ava if it was the last thing she did.

A plan was beginning to form in Gemma's mind. She knew how she was going to get Jax back in her life and get revenge on Ava.

"

And soon Gemma's ruthless plan will be revealed, but can it be stopped?
