Chapter 113 Everybody Gets Some
"
That week with Ava was one of the happiest of Jax's life. He felt in control of his destiny. He didn't have to bow down to Clay or listen to Gemma trying to control his life. He was setting the path for the MC, TM and a new future for him studying law. For the first time in his life, he was truly his own man.
His relationship with Ava continued to grow and get better since they had quit trying to make the other miserable. It was strange to think that his first ever relationship was with his wife. He always did do things in a unique way.
Sex with one woman or hundreds was pretty much the same. He'd been with skinny girls, fat girls, beautiful girls and some that weren't but sex had a sameness to it. With Ava, he remembered her. He'd never felt emotionally close to any of the women he'd been with because he always intended it to be short term.
When he was with Ava, there was an emotional component he had never experienced before beyond his inherent male desire to please his partner. He really wanted her to enjoy sex with him. He'd gotten her a little drunk one night—not enough for a repeat of drunk Ava, but drunk enough that she confessed that she'd never liked sex much until him.
It explained a lot about her ability to resist him. He liked that he'd given her the best sex she'd ever had. It made him feel closer to her.
He knew that beyond liking a girl there was love, but he'd never thought much about it. It hadn't been some need that he had to quench like his desire for sex. After being with hundreds of girls, he figured it would never happen to him.
He'd seen a lot of guys lose their focus when they fell in love like Juice. He wasn't going to lose his focus. Now wasn't the time to do that, but he was wondering if maybe his feelings for Ava went beyond liking her. Falling in love with Ava wouldn't be the worst thing that could happen. He knew that she was growing more fond of him with each passing day.
He felt an intense desire to protect her that was also a new feeling for him. He had the same feeling about his brothers but without quite the same intensity. When they were at the amusement park, a man shoved Ava a little. He had instantly turned and shoved the man to the ground and prepared to put a beat down on the guy. The man realized his danger, got to his feet and apologized. He recognized that was the only way to avoid getting his ass kicked. No one messes with Ava or they would have to go through him.
While he and Ava were spending an idyllic time visiting an Old West town, eating a campfire dinner complete with dessert, enjoying a visit to an amusement park in Washington and spending a lot of time in bed, Gemma had been busy too. She spent her nights in coke fueled sex with Nero and her days working on her plans to force her way back into Jax's life.
He was her son and she would be damned if he would kick her to the curb like she was trash. She was his mother and she was always going to be in his life. He would eventually learn to accept what happened with JT. It was a long time ago and he should just get over it.
If anything, Jax should thank her for getting rid of his weak father. If she and Clay hadn't taken care of JT, Jax would have grown up to be a pussy just like his father. JT was always dreaming and writing his thoughts down as if anyone gave a damn what he thought or would want to waste time reading that crap. Stupid, weak man. His death freed her.
If he'd been a stronger more forceful man, he would still be alive. It was his own damned fault he had to be killed. Without selling guns, SAMCRO would have struggled for money and maybe been forced to deal drugs like some of the other charters. JT would never have gone for that and it would have led to a deep division within the club. No, she had nothing to apologize for over JT's death. JT would have destroyed the MC.
She wasn't going to let him destroy her son's legacy. Jax was president of the MC because of her and the sacrifices she made. Sooner or later, he would see that she'd done what was best for the MC and him. Maybe his time as president would make him see things clearer.
He needed to understand that the MC wasn't just his legacy; it was hers too. She'd been the backbone of that damned MC. Without her support, it wouldn't exist. He would see now that he was president just how much work the president's old lady had to do. When things fell apart because that spoiled little bitch he'd married didn't know how to be a proper MC President's old lady, then he'd see just how indispensible she was.
She'd tried to find out what was going on at the MC, but she'd been meant with a wall of silence. She'd been listening to Juice's stories of heartbreak for years. He owed her and the little bastard had the nerve to tell that she was excommunicated from the MC on Jax's orders. No one was going to talk to her and then he hung up on her! Where the hell did that little prick find his balls?
She called Luann and was meant with a similar story. She'd been declared an enemy of the club and while she didn't understand or agree with it; she had business with the MC and had to follow Jax's edicts. And then her friend of more than twenty years hung up on her too! Stupid porn whore!
Not knowing what was going on inside the MC was driving her crazy. In Jax's frame of mind, who the hell knew what he was capable of doing? And the guys would follow him because he was the president now. He needed her counsel. She had helped Clay run the MC and she expected to do the same with Jax. It wasn't just his birthright; it was hers as well. He owed his existence to her for God's sake.
As far as TM was concerned, she understood why he had to change the name to put distance between him and Clay, but that whole makeover of the buildings and office was just ridiculous. It was too flashy and unneeded. He should have consulted with her first about it. He was already making mistakes without her around to help him.
That was all there was to it. The sooner she was back in Jax's life, the better.

Jax and Ava got back on Friday in time for Jax to go to Church to find out what was going on with the MC. There was some interest in the land. Bobby expected they would get an offer in the next few days. That was about the only club business. They needed to find rental properties for the next phase of the business side of the MC.
Ava came by after the meeting was over and sat with him while he drank a beer and chatted with the guys. Bobby saw Jax through objective eyes. Prison had made him harder. He was more focused and Bobby approved of the direction he was leading the MC in. The club would once again be about brotherhood and working together and less about money and serving time. It was a waste of life spending it locked up so Clay could get rich.
Against all the odds, Jax seemed happy with his old lady. It was good to see him settled. Bobby always believed Jax was better with a partner for both his personal and MC lives. As long as she accepted the MC as she seemed to be doing, Bobby was in favor of the two of them as a couple.
The next morning, Ava decided to reward Jax for last night with breakfast in bed. They had coffee and orange juice in the refrigerator in their room, so all she needed to do was load up a tray with pancakes, bacon and waffles.
She slipped out of bed and went downstairs in her knee length green T-shirt. She hadn't gotten dressed because she was hoping that after breakfast, they would spend some more time in bed together.
She took the elevator downstairs and was about to put a tray together when she heard voices in the entry hall. She recognized her father's voice, but she wasn't sure of the woman's voice. She hoped she was wrong. She hoped like hell she was wrong.
Ava crept quietly from the kitchen to a vantage point where she could watch the entry way but stay concealed by a column near the study door.
Dear God, she'd been right. It was Gemma making out with her father. She thought she might throw up a little in her mouth. She listened to their conversation for a few moments before silently creeping away and returning to her room. She had no appetite for breakfast.
"I was wondering where you were," Jax said sitting up in bed and looking at Ava. She hadn't changed her clothes so that was encouraging.
"I was going to bring you breakfast in bed. I saw something that made me lose my appetite. When I tell you, you'll lose your appetite too."
"What did you see?" Jax asked with a frown.
"Your mother making out with my father. She spent the night and she was leaving."
Jax's frowned deepened. So, Gemma was going to use TB to try to get back in his life. That woman was diabolical.
"How about you get back into bed with me? I have a different kind of appetite only you can satisfy," he said patting her place in bed beside him.
They could figure out what they were going to do about Gemma later.
"
Author's Note: Can Jax and Ava save TB from Gemma's clutches? Every time TB and Gemma are together I've been dropping hints that he is into her-there's no accounting for taste sometimes. And as so many bad romance novels/TV shows say-the heart wants what the heart wants.
