Chapter 114 New Hire

While they were still cuddled together in bed, Jax learned more about TB which worried him. Ava explained that in her entire life, she'd never seen her father with a woman. He never introduced her to a girlfriend. She thought he was asexual because he didn't seem that interested in women.
Jax pointed out that he traveled so much; her father could have all the girlfriends he wanted. Ava looked doubtful. She thought the great love of her father's life was money. It seemed inconceivable that her father actual sought out female company or even had sex. That's why she was worried about Gemma with her father.
Jax shared Ava's concern. He hadn't blocked Gemma's number. He should have but he hadn't been able to bring himself to take that step. To his shock, she hadn't made any attempt to contact him. He suspected he may have wanted her to call him and beg him to let her back in his life just so he could crush her again. He was still angry and bitter.
He dressed and left Ava still in bed. He was going to find Gemma and have a talk with her. He knew that she was using TB to try to get back into his life. It was just the scheming underhanded kind of thing she would do.
He didn't want Ava with him when he confronted his mother. Now that he and Ava were on good terms, he didn't want her to see his darker side. If Gemma tried to slap him, he was going to knock her on her ass. He had enough of her slaps to last him the rest of his life.
He felt his anger grow when she wasn't at the house. He drove his bike around town unable to find her anywhere. Wherever the hell Gemma was, she wasn't in Charming.
Gemma had caught sight of Ava out of the corner of her eye despite her efforts to hide behind a column. It was only a matter of time before Ava and Jax found out about her and TB. She would have loved to have seen the look on Jax's face when Ava told him about her and TB.
TB was flying out to be the guest of honor at some legal conference. He had told her what kind of legal conference, but Gemma had no interest in legal matters. It worked out perfectly that he was going to be gone until late Sunday night because Nero needed a hostess for the day to help at his Diosa Men's Spa. Just to make it clear what kind of establishment it was, all the employees except security were female.
Some men came in for just massages but most wanted a little more. They also sent masseuses to hotels with their own massage tables. It all looked perfectly above board. Nero's staff was carefully trained and he was proud that none of his girls had ever been arrested.
Gemma had been an old lady too long to have any illusions that Nero was something more than a glorified pimp. That was fine with her. He was good in bed and had great coke. Clay had always frowned on her drug use because he thought it was a waste of his money.
Gemma was happy thinking about Jax frantically trying to hunt her down so he could warn her away from TB. She was spending Saturday and Sunday with Nero, so Jax could hunt her all he wanted.
On Mondays, Jax and Ava met with Ed the attorney assigned to put together their legal training. He was surprised they hadn't given up immediately, but the longer that he worked with them; the more he was impressed by their commitment. Jax was especially astute when it came to criminal law. He was reviewing the cases from inmates claiming they were falsely convicted. Jax was doing an excellent job reviewing and preparing his analysis of each case.
Jax even insisted on writing a letter to each inmate explaining why they were passing on his case, needed more information or would be in contact about scheduling a phone call or meeting. Jax even taught him some stuff on how a prisoner thinks. It would prove useful since he was heading up the newly created wrongful termination division of Becker Law.
When they finished their meeting, Jax and Ava left the conference room together. There was Gemma sitting at a desk answering phones. She was even dressed for the part in a neat white blouse and navy skirt. She's toned down her make-up and the blonde stripes in her hair were gone replaced by her newly colored auburn hair.
She gave them a bright smile with her soft coral pink lips before answering a call.
Jax was working to control his temper, which was why he didn't go over to her and lift her out of her desk chair by the front of her shirt..
He wouldn't say anything to her now, but he would go to her house after she finished work and have it out with her then and there again.

Jax has a dilemma. He can't rat his mother to TB because of the whole can't rat thing. If Ava warned her father because Jax gave her information, could that be considered ratting?
Expect fireworks between Gemma and Jax.
