A/N: I hope you guys enjoy this story because I really enjoyed writing about Darvey through the eyes of Donna's mother. I honestly feel like you could so much more from her point of view but wanted to keep this specific chapter light and fluffy. Also I'm not sure if we ever got confirmation of Donna's mother's name but I've read fics before where her name is Claire and I found that to be most fitting... now that I'm writing this I think it might be Clara.. Anyways as always reviews, critiques, and suggestions are welcome!

Claire-voyant Sees All

Claire saw her daughter swarm around her apartment, playing the role of hostess with her group of colleagues and friends, as she swanned around with a plate in her hand, and to Claire's amusement, a Harvey Specter on her tail. They looked like the epitome of a picture perfect couple. His grey suit offset her dark midnight blue flowy dress beautifully as Donna continued greeting people with Harvey tagging along.

Harvey and Donna seemed to be synchronized together, gravitating towards one another despite the big turnout that overcrowded Donna's place.

When they were sitting down at the dinner table, although Donna and Harvey were not sitting next to one another, they managed to mirror each other's mannerisms from twirling their hands in similar notion to finishing each other's thoughts, spouting like fireworks against one another putting on an amusing show for her as she viewed her daughter's boss act more so like a co-host than another dinner guest. Claire bid them both a goodnight, Harvey kissing her cheek as he stayed back to help Donna clean up. She teased them both that night at the end of the party as she gathered her coat about their relationship and domesticity to which they both shared a look and rolled their eyes, as if they were used to such a thing and such assumptions. Which Claire took by surprise. She understood her daughter being teased innocently by her mother about her love life, but she didn't expect the rest of the world to see something between the two of them. It made Claire wonder how the rest of the world saw them both, and how her daughter and her boss seemed to turn a blind eye to what was glaringly obvious to apparently everyone else.

In the back of her mind, Claire would compare the way her daughter interacted with Harvey at that dinner party to how she interacted with the few and far in between boyfriends she got to meet throughout the years over overpriced Italian food. She'd see them all look at her daughter with sentiment and perhaps even love, but she'd see her daughter look back with only amusement, appreciativeness and perhaps even with adornment- but she was never enraptured. Not like she was with Harvey. Claire would chalk it up to a decade's worth of closeness, and she'd focus on supporting her daughter's choices no matter her opinion.

Claire hit 'call' on her phone as she waited patiently for her daughter to pick up for their phone date. The phone picked up after ringing for a minute too long.

"Harvey Specter." was snapped into her ear, the words carrying a bite to them. As if he was annoyed that he had to answer his own phone.

Claire stilled in surprise. "Harvey? It's Donna's mom, Claire."

"Oh, Mrs. Paulsen!" Harvey said with a tone of surprise, his voice going up slightly.

"How've you been?" He asked hesitantly.

"Good Harvey, yourself?"

"I'm doing ok." Harvey spoke calmly, with a slight hint of awkwardness, probably not sure how to keep the conversation going knowing she was trying to reach her daughter, whom she knew he wasn't talking to right now.

"Did you mean to talk to Donna because she has a different extension now." Harvey sounded muffled, like he was trying to get the words out through a clenched jaw.

"Oh yes, my daughter informed me over her new desk but not the number." She chuckled hastily.

"It's 479. I'd transfer you myself, but I have no idea how to work the damn system." He said sheepishly, to which Claire laughed at, recalling her daughter's words that don't seem to be an exaggeration apparently.

"You really are lost without Donna aren't you?"

Silence.

Claire wondered if what she said was slightly inappropriate, or perhaps hit too close to home to land in the teasing manner she meant for it to.

"Listen Harvey, I don't know why my daughter left your desk after ten years or so working together. But I do know her, and I know whatever it is, she just needs time to collect herself before all of this blows over. So just… give it to her. Things have a way of working out the way they're supposed to." Her words were meant to be soothing, and she hoped he took it that way and didn't mind her unsolicited motherly advice.

"Thanks Claire." Harvey said hoarsely, like he was fighting back emotion, holding onto her words like a prayer, hoping her mother did know her best.

"Anytime Harvey." She hung up the phone and silently wondered about what went wrong between the two, whether it was because of something said or the unsaid, as she dialled her daughter's new phone number.

She saw Harvey's condo years ago, and while Jim nitpicked the place apart, calling it cold just like his daughter's boss, Claire saw touches of his personality everywhere: the musical records he seemed dear of, an old saxophone case her daughter informed her was his dad's, paraphernalia of a baseball career that ended too early, a love of cars that she didn't get, and finally she saw her daughter. She saw her daughter in a frayed old christmas picture that was tucked away in between vinyl records, that must've been back in their D.A. days, evident by her daughter's bangs and Harvey's more youthful face. She saw her daughter and Harvey in ridiculous ugly Christmas sweaters, his worn over khakis and her's worn over a red dress that acted like a skirt, both of them wearing dopey matching grins as they posed together, Harvey's arm securely placed on Donna's waist keeping her close. She couldn't imagine the same Harvey Specter in his dolce and gabbana suit, who greeted them in his condo before leaving for a business trip, would ever be caught dead in a christmas sweater, seemingly tipsy and with a goofy attitude as he hugged her daughter. She wondered about the Harvey Donna knew and the Harvey he presented for the rest of the word, as she slid the picture of them back in it's secret slot. She wondered if Donna knew about how Harvey seemed to hide the loudest piece of evidence of his sentimentality, and that it was of her. She decided to tell no one, not Donna nor Jim, keeping it a little secret between her and Harvey.

Claire came into town to surprise Donna who was in a Broadway show. Donna had called earlier in the week and off-handedly mentioned her rehearsals, which Claire was shocked by because her daughter hadn't mentioned it before and it made her realize they hadn't seen one another or really talked to one another in quite a long time. She had even neglected to tell her it was a real broadway show, one with over 500 theatre seats which in the not so distant past, was 10 times more than the usual amount she played for. So Claire, being the supportive mother she was, hopped on the next flight to Manhattan to surprise her daughter who flitzed around in a corset dress on stage with her hair in a mane of curls that defied the law of physics.

She had a seat in the far rows, not wanting to drop her daughter's name to get better last minute seats lest it ruin the surprise for her. At the end of the show she clapped and whistled the loudest for her excited to go round backstage to finally hug her daughter congratulations.

Once backstage, Claire spotted Donna flushed red from the adrenaline, eyes darting around as if she was waiting for someone. Claire grinned widely and screamed for her.

"Donna-Bear!"

Donna blinked in surprise as she found the source of the voice. "Mom?" Claire flung herself into her daughter's path, her daughter immediately hugging her fiercely back despite her surprise. She felt something squish between them.

Claire stepped back slightly to see a bouquet of pink peonies, Donna's favourite, resting on her daughter's stomach.

"Oh, I'm sorry honey I was just so excited to see you! You were marvelous out there."

"Mom, I'm so glad you made it! I didn't know-."

Claire sent her daughter a look as she caught her off. "As if I was going to miss a chance to see my daughter live out her dreams." Donna beamed at her mother's words, feeling fifteen again trying her hand out at piano and waiting to wow her mom so she'd dazzle her with compliments of a job well done.

"I brought you these," Claire gestured to the set of daisies she had picked up from the airport, "but I see you don't need them!" Claire teased, referencing Donna's bouquet.

"Who, of your many admirers, got you those?" Claire faux-whispered, leaning into her daughter as if they were school girls about to talk about their latest boy crush. Donna blushed on cue, about to answer her mom when Claire spotted the man in question.

"Next time, could you play in a show that's not sold out? The line to the bathroom was- Mrs. Paulsen!" Harvey stuttered in surprise, halting a few centimeters away from Claire and Donna.

Clair frowned confusedly.

He hastily got his bearings together, and took the extra step to greet Donna's mother with a kiss on her cheek.

"I didn't realize you'd be here Harvey." Claire spoke with an amused tone and a half accusatory look at her daughter.

Harvey grinned cheekily at Donna in reply. "Well it is tradition."

"Tradition?" Claire's voice turned even more amused, a knowing smirk gracing her lips as she sent another look to her daughter, who promptly ignored it.

"I didn't know you were going to be here mom, I'd have gotten you good seats, I didn't spot you anywhere in the audience." Donna's attempt at averting the subject of the conversation didn't go unnoticed by her mother.

Claire shook her head. "Never mind that, do you have any plans now because I'd like to take my talented daughter out for a celebratory dinner."

Donna's eyes flickered to Harvey quickly, but Claire caught it.

"Oh, I didn't mean to assume-"

Harvey quickly intervened with a smile on his face. "Nonsense. I'll let you guys catch up. I just wanted to tell the big star of the night congrats again. You were amazing out there." His voice turned sincere at the end, directing his gaze and words at Donna, who sent him a shy smile back.

Donna quickly gathered her wits about her "Just tonight?" She teased him in response and Harvey rolled his eyes at her. "Don't push it, Paulsen."

He bid Claire goodbye as well, before turning to leave the backstage area completely.

As Claire waited for Donna who hurried back to her room to change out of her costume, she wondered to herself how many traditions her daughter and Harvey had.

And how many of them highlighted the love they clearly had for one another under the guise of support and friendship.

Claire saw Donna loose faith in Harvey, saw her compare him to her father which in of itself raised alarm bells in Claire's head for a myriad of reasons, from excitement that her daughter to seemed to be comparing them to her and her father, to disappointment as she seemed to liken Harvey to her dad's least flattering picture. A picture of a man who was desperate, and would act on instinct, ignoring those he could hurt around him.

Claire hoped her daughter took her advice wisely, and applied it to Harvey. Because she meant what she said, she never regretted having faith in Jim, and she'd hoped Donna would never lose faith in Harvey, because from what she knows, he never let her down before, not in the ways it mattered.

It had taken Claire a few years to see the good in Harvey Specter. At first, she found him a charming, lovely and attractive addition to Donna's stories about her life in the big apple. Then she found him to be a threat to her daughter, stringing her along his career path while Donna lost sight of hers. She'd ridicule her daughter for staying as his assistant, and Donna would lash out telling her he offered her the security she'd been craving since she was a little girl. They didn't see eye to eye about Harvey after that fight. But then, Claire saw the truth in her daughter's statement. Perhaps she wanted more for her daughter than the life she was living right now, but it was clear as day to her that Donna was fulfilled by the people she surrounded herself with and the lifestyle her job gave her- to some degree. So they drew a line under that fight and agreed to disagree about Donna's future.

But she did change her mind about Harvey.

Because over the years, despite the many harrowing stories she'd hear about Harvey Specter; the obnoxious career lawyer from Jim, who'd read off the latest headlines about what hot water and shady business deals the lawyer landed himself in, to the "pretentious asshole of a know-all" Donna would label him as whenever they got into arguments about work, her love-life that he managed to weasel his way into, or even Donna's own career- Claire never again lost sight of the fact that were many stories of Harvey Specter she never did get to hear or see firsthand. She had learned the hard way that for every rant she heard from Donna or story from the headlines regarding Harvey Specter, there were hidden gems of his kindness and love that seemed to get lost along the way to her.

Claire had seen glimmers of the Harvey Specter she rarely got to see or hear of, the one who dropped everything to support her daughter's dreams, that risked his career and life for her, tease and adore her, and even put up with her parents.

Claire hoped one day she could see firsthand all of Harvey Specter, because she's positive she'd fall in love with him just like her daughter did.

….

Claire smiled widely as she entered the premises, already excited about the meeting's location.

She squeezed Jim's forearm as they took off their coats, her eyes were darting around, taking in the location that was familiar yet different now.

"Calm down, your eyes are like saucers right now." Jim chided her amusedly and she chuckled in response with an eye roll. Just as she was about to open her mouth with a retort, she got cut off by Harvey.

"Oh now I know where Donna got her frisbee eyes from when she gets excited."

"What about my eyes?" Donna's voice carried over to them as she went about setting up the dining table from a far. Claire spotted her pulling out a cooked meal- an honest to god home cooked meal from the kitchen to the table.

"Nothing!" Harvey yelled back in a song-like tone as he winked to Claire good naturally. "Good to see you, Claire." He kissed her cheek in greeting and went to shake Jim's hand after as well.

Claire beamed at the interaction of Jim clapping Harvey's back in response, a clear sign of no bad blood between the two, something Donna and Claire were both dreading early on.

Claire moved forward to the dining area, noticing her daughter didn't stray away from the usual Italian course they had whenever she was meeting a boyfriend of hers. She raised an eyebrow at the food and merely glanced up at Donna.

Donna rolled her eyes in exasperation as Harvey and Jim joined them. "No, I didn't cook this was all Harvey."

"Oh thank god!" Both Claire and Jim exclaimed, which earned a huff from Donna and a laugh from Harvey, his arm going around Donna's waist as he brought her in closer.

"Can't blame them for not wanting a repeat of that god awful dinner party."

Donna slapped his chest jokingly leaning slightly away from him "Hey, that party was a success! Minus some company.." Donna sneaked a pointed look to her mother about her date for that evening.

"And the food." Claire bounced right back at her, reminiscing over the shrimp cocktails that were too chewy.

Harvey chuckled once more, before gesturing for them all to take their seats.

This was the first time they were all sitting down together after Harvey and Donna had gotten together. Yet it didn't feel tense and awkward, the biggest hurdles having already been jumped earlier on from having all met years ago, to Jim giving Harvey his blessing months ago.

Instead all that Claire felt throughout the night was excitement in the air. She had never seen neither Harvey nor Donna this happy.

They gushed over the food, learning that Harvey was quite the cook thanks to his upbringing and that his little brother had a successful restaurant back in Boston.

Claire and Jim gained more insight in Donna's working life as Harvey praised their daughter's "life-saving" and clever thought-out deals she had secured as COO earlier that day. They even learned tidbits about how Harvey was encouraging her to run a for-profit Arts and Theatre company on the side.

"They just want anyone with a background in business and the arts as well." Donna clarified over her glass of wine. Shrugging like it was no big deal, undermining herself and her abilities.

"No, they want you specifically because they'd be hard pressed to find anyone better than you for the job." Harvey stated firmly, yet with a soft tone as his hand squeezed Donna's under the table, leaving no doubt in anybody's mind on the table that Donna was amazing at what she did.

Donna turned away from his gaze as a slightly rosy hue creeped its way to her cheeks.

Jim and Claire shared a knowing smile about their daughter as she cleared her throat.

"Time for dessert!" She gingerly got out of her chair and started collecting their plates away.

"I'll come help." Jim stated as he gave Claire a quick kiss to her forehead, standing up to clear the rest of the table with Donna before giving her a hand in the kitchen, leaving Claire and Harvey alone at the table for the first time.

Claire took in Harvey through her eyes, sitting across from her smiling wide, close lipped, yet the lines around his eyes showed just how happy and content he really was. His hand absentmindedly playing with the tumblr of scotch in front of him seemingly relaxed with how the evenings panned out.

"You know I've known you've been in love with my daughter for quite awhile." Claire broke the silence, and Harvey's grin only grew wider.

"I'm not surprised, it seems to me that everyone in my life knew about that except maybe your daughter. I didn't hide it very well."

"I don't know about that." Claire chided thoughtfully, thinking back to the many conversations she had with Donna and the extra length he went to to hide his feelings "But what I do know, is that she's never looked at anyone the way she looks at you."

Harvey smiled warmly at that, clearly chuffed by having Donna's mom approve of them.

Clair thought back to how the night had played out so far, with her not only learning new facts about him, but unveiling aspects of him with her daughter. How he seemed to hang onto every word Donna said, the way they managed to get sidetracked in their own little bubble, his eyes following her every movement, lighting up and teasing her about every childhood story they shared with him. She also saw her daughter's eyes glistening with love, her entire being completely relaxed and in the moment something she never did see before with her boyfriends.

"I'm really glad I get to know you better Harvey." Claire said earnestly, hoping they become closer as time goes on.

"Likewise Claire." His voice dipped lowly, conveying his sincerity as he raised his glass, and she raised hers.
