What Riku Wants
Riku just wanted it to stop. He was tired of the stares, the looks, the comments that followed him wherever he went—tired of people's reactions whenever he and Sora went out together.
Really, he was just tired of it all.
The entire island had split into two opposing factions. On one side were those who thought Sora and Kairi were destined to be together, and saw Riku as only in the way of their precious love. They gave Riku scathing looks that hurt him, but it still wasn't as bad as the actions from the other side.
The other side was convinced it was Riku that Sora was fated to be with, and Kairi was a bitch to keep them apart. They showed up at his doorstep every morning with words of encouragement, like: "Hang in there, girlfriend!" and "We're totally with you, Riku."
But, they didn't know anything. Neither side knew, nor—Riku supposed—really cared about his wants and his needs. Riku liked both Sora and Kairi well enough, but they were only friends. He hung around them not because he secretly lusted after them, but because he enjoyed their company. They were also the only people on the entire island that truly knew Riku, and knew what he desperately, and secretly, desired.
Because, in the end, all Riku wanted to do, was sing.
END!
