So, for this one, I decided to use the idea of Brother Grimace in his last review of revoking Peter Pettigrew's Order of Merlin.

It was a few days after the Battle of Hogwarts and Kingsley Shacklebolt was acting as temporary Minister of Magic as there hadn't been time yet for a proper election after the true downfall of Lord Voldemort.

Shacklebolt was sitting alone in his office when something occurred to him.

Peter Pettigrew had an Order of Merlin. An Order of Merlin First Class at that.

Pettigrew had been given this award for a "heroic confrontation" with Sirius Black.

At the time, most of the Wizarding World had believed that Sirius Black had betrayed James and Lily Potter to Voldemort and that Peter Pettigrew had been trying to warn the Potters that Voldemort was coming for them, and that Sirius Black had killed him to stop him from doing so.

Now?

The truth about Peter Pettigrew was now known.

Far from being heroic, Pettigrew himself had betrayed the Potters, then faked his own death and framed Sirius Black for it, not to mention that Pettigrew had killed twelve muggles with a single curse and framed Black for that as well.

Furthermore, it was now known that Peter Pettigrew, using his Wormtail moniker, had played a key role in allowing Lord Voldemort to return and had been a Death Eater. He'd been the one to kill Cedric Diggory and had even supplied the flesh Voldemort had needed for his Revival Potion.

Clearly, with what was now known about Peter Pettigrew, he was as deserving of an Order of Merlin First Class as Dolores Umbridge or Marietta Edgecombe or Bellatrix Lestrange.

As one of his earliest acts as temporary Minster of Magic, he would revoke Pettigrew's Order of Merlin.

The next morning, the following headline appeared in the Daily Prophet:

Death Eater Has Order of Merlin First Class Revoked.

The accompanying article read:

Yesterday afternoon, the temporary Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt, revoked the Order of Merlin First Class of Peter Pettigrew, now known to be the Death Eater Wormtail.

"Far from being heroic, with what we now know of Peter Pettigrew, he is in no way deserving of an Order of Merlin First Class and his continuing possession of such would be a slap in the face to his victims, " said the temporary Minister of Magic in a prepared statement, "Peter Pettigrew did not represent what he was awarded his Order of Merlin First Class for. Hardly brave or loyal, Peter Pettigrew was a coward, a traitor, a murderer, and a Death Eater. Pettigrew's life ultimately was the antithesis of what an Order of Merlin First Class should represent. It would also be a slap in the face to Mr. and Mrs. Diggory to allow the murderer who stole their son from them to keep his Order of Merlin First Class. It would be spitting on the memories of James and Lily Potter for the double crosser who betrayed them to retain his Order of Merlin First Class. It would be an insult to Sirius Black for the piece of shit who framed him to maintain his Order of Merlin First Class status. It would be a complete injustice to Harry Potter if the very Death Eater who had tied him up and taken his blood to allow Lord Voldemort to return continued on as an Order of Merlin First Class member. In fact, all people who were affected by Pettigrew's acts of evil are done a disservice if Pettigrew's Order of Merlin First Class is allowed to stand. I therefore am revoking Peter Pettigrew's Order of Merlin First Class effective immediately."

Shacklebolt's decision to revoke Pettigrew's Order of Merlin First Class was met with approval by the magical community.

"Future generations of witches and wizards deserve truth and honesty and it would be a complete lie if Peter Pettigrew was still proclaimed as an Order of Merlin First Class member, " said Harry Potter's BFF, Hermione Granger.

"Peter Pettigrew neither did nor represented what he was granted his award for, " said Harry's wife, Ginny Weasley, "As such, it should absolutely be stripped."

Peter Pettigrew caused a lot of pain to many people and families with his actions, " said Luna Lovegood bluntly, "He's a traitor and that's the most dishonorable thing that any person could be."

"I support Shacklebolt's decision to strip Peter Pettigrew of his Order of Merlin First Class, " Harry Potter told the Daily Prophet, "He destroyed many families, including mine, as much as Lord Voldemort did."

"It's the only decision, " was the position taken by Neville Longbottom, "I know how I would feel if Bellatrix Lestrange or Barty Crouch Jr had an Order of Merlin First Class."

"I'm pleased to see that Shacklebolt is doing the right thing and I would endorse him as permanent Minster of Magic, " declared Amos Diggory.

Shacklebolt also told the Daily Prophet that he will consider if any new Order of Merlin awards should be granted in the aftermath of the Second Wizarding War and the Battle of Hogwarts, though no decision on any was imminent.

The removal of Pettigrew's Order of Merlin First Class award is the final piece of his story as the Wizarding World now knows the truth about his actions.
