"I need that prophecy," said Voldemort smoothly.
"You'll have to kill me," retorted Sirius defiantly.
"Oh, I will, but first you will fetch it for me," responded Voldemort silkily.
Harry Potter awoke from seeing this vison.
"Sirius is in danger, " thought Harry, "Maybe I could contact him via our mirrors. He did say to use the mirror if I needed him."
So, zipping along to his dorm faster than a cheetah chasing its pray, Harry retrieved the mirror Sirius had given before the semester had started from his trunk and spoke into it in a crystal-clear voice, "Sirius."
Harry waited. He knew he had to give Sirius a little bit of time to retrieve his own mirror.
Sure enough, a minute and a nanosecond later, Sirius said, "Harry, what's up?"
"Sirius, are you safe, are you okay?" asked Harry urgently.
'I'm safe, albeit unhappily holed up in Number Twelve Grimmald Place, " answered Sirius calmly.
Harry left a huge sigh of relief.
"Have you heard some rumors about something that has happened to me?" Sirius grilled Harry.
"I just had a vision of Voldemort torturing you. I thought it was real, like when I saw Mr. Weasley get bitten by Nagini in my vision before Christmas. In the vision, Voldemort told you that he needed a prophecy. You defy him and tell him that he'll have to kill you. He insists that he will but that you will fetch it for him first. This scene was taking place at the Department of Mysteries. "
Sirius turned very serious and said, "Wait in your dorm."
Harry did as he was told, and Sirius arrived about a minute and a nanosecond later.
Sirius was holding one of those silver goblets that Harry knew Sirius hated.
"I made a Portkey," explained Sirius, "We need to talk face to face."
Harry heard the door of the dorm lock and Sirius said, "Harry, please sit down on your bed."
Harry sat down on his bed and Sirius sat down on the bed next to it.
"So," explained Sirius in a businesslike voice, "It is obvious to me what happened. Voldemort planted a fake vision into your head intended to lure you into the Department of Mysteries."
"So?" asked Harry, shocked, "He was trying to lure me into going to the Department of Mysteries specifically?"
"Yes," confirmed Sirius, "There is a prophecy involving you and Lord Voldemort. Prophecies can only be retrieved be people about who they are made. Voldemort knows of the existence of this prophecy but knows nothing about what it actually says. Ever since he got his body back, Voldemort has been obsessed with hearing the prophecy, believing that knowing what it says could be his key to conquering you. He had two choices: go to the department of Mysteries himself and risk getting exposed at last or lure you into the Department of Mysteries for him. He has likely stationed a team of Death Eaters at the Department of Mysteries with the idea that you would take the prophecy off the shelf for him and then the Death Eaters would force you to give it over to them and take it back to their master."
"What does it all mean now?" inquired Harry.
"I'm going to be talking with the Order about that as soon as I leave here, " said Sirius clearly, "The ability of Voldemort to plant fake visions in your mind, especially given that you have had real ones, is why it was so important for you to learn Occlumency."
"On one hand," said Harry slowly, "Snape stopped giving me lessons, he threw me out of his office. On the other hand, I should've practiced my Occlumency more on my own, though I didn't know why it was so important."
"This is also why I gave you the mirror though," added Sirius, "Thought it might prevent you from doing something rash if you could talk to me in the mirror. "
"That proved to be true," said Harry matter of factly.
"I'm glad you thought to use the mirror, Harry, " said Sirius slowly, "It saved us a lot of trouble and danger. But now, I want you to practice your Occlumency more. "
"Yes, " promised Harry, "Now that I fully comprehend the importance of Occlumency, I promise that I will put much more effort into mastering the craft of Occlumency."
"Good boy," said Sirius approvingly.
Harry and Sirius smiled at each other. Both were glad that Harry had thought to use the mirror and thus had gone off doing anything rash or stupid.
