EnJoy!
The summer has been eye rolling for Cardia. She has been dragged around by her Grandmother to party after party. Cardia had to spend hours listening to the ladies of high society. First was afternoon tea at the Parkinson estate. After that it was morning brunch with the ladies of the Greengrass family. The list went on and on. The most enjoyable parties she had been to was the Summer Solstice Celebration held at the Potter manor and the Astronomy Tea Party that the Lovegood family threw after that.
That night Cardia stood with her friends dressed in a white dress that had enchanted cherry blossoms on the skirt, she also had a garland of the same flowers draped around her neck. Prim laughed beside her in a dress that was enchanted with roses all over. Charlus was be speckled in in red poppies, Percy's own mother had him dressed in corn flowers, Alphrad was dressed mostly in black with a garland of Chrysanthemums, and Tom was well Tom. He decided that the Ivy plant repented him and chose to be decked out in the plant. The children watched as many young men levitated Flaming Brands above them to signify the sun, while others danced around the massive bond fire that was blazing in the middle of the gardens of the estate. Firefly lights enchanted to float around the garden as well. Cardia spent the week with her friends and she watched as Lady Potter gracefully readied the home for the celebration.
But now the 12 year old witch was sitting in the Malfoy Garden Parlor sipping tea next to her grandmother, whom was wearing a deep red dress, black beading all over and black fringe dusting her ankles.
Wizarding world was about a decade behind in fashion.
The voice in the back of her mind was becoming more and more talkative. She simply ignored the voice as she sipped the tea in her hand.
"Oh Elinorea, I must say that your granddaughter there is quit quiet isn't she." Lady Black commented on Cardia's demeanor.
"Yes she is, she usually is until she is spoken to. Takes after her father in that regard."
"I heard she is quit outspoken, according to Talon." Lady Parkinson spoke over her tea cup.
"Yes she has always seemed to cause the boys embarrassment." Camille Malfoy sneered as she looked at Cardia.
"I've spoken to her about how to behave." Her grandmother spoke.
"I heard she is friends with those of lesser blood." Another Lady snickered.
Not wanting to listen any longer, Cardia placed her tea cup down and politely excused herself. Since she had been to the Malfoy residence many times growing up. She felt bad for her little cousin who would be taught by her grand mother to take over the as the family matriarch. That wasn't something that Cardia wanted, but still wished to not burden the 8 year old. Mainly due to the fact that majority of the elder witches here are bigoted and they are known for playing politics behind their own husbands.
Cardia continued her walking through the lower public area of the Malfoy Manor to the garden area. She loved her garden at her own family estate, the Malfoy garden came a close 3rd or 4th in her book. The Malfoy family only planted white bloomed flowers, which she thought was odd as they where a darker family. She could name many of the plants that lived in the garden. Chrysanthemum, Roses, Calla Lily, Snowdrop, Spider Mum, Baby's Breath, Bouvardia, Camellia and many more she named in her head as she walked through the path. She thought of the next year that she'll be at Hogwarts, with her friends. She also thought about the letters that have been delivered to her father that he seemed to burn upon delivery. She had asked him who he didn't want to hear from and he told her a mad man.
Only mad man now would be Grindlewald.
Her inner voice spoke, like it has many other times in her short life. Cardia asked her father about Reincarnation, pasted lives and what he thought of them. He always said that the Fates always had a reason for what they did, and if she has faint memories then she must have a purpose as to what it was he wouldn't know. She was afraid to ask Professor Dumbledore as Tom always said he wasn't worth asking since he was a senile old Coot.
"I understand Gellert, But are you sure that this is the best way to go about it?" Cardia heard Lord Malfoy speaking.
"As to how things transcend, or how the up coming events play out. This is how it is to be done." A voice that Cardia didn't recognize fallowed.
She creped closer to the window that was opened and listened in. Sur she knew it wasn't lady like to ease drop on conversations that she was not apart of. But she honestly couldn't help herself.
"What of Lord Beckford? Have you been able to get in touch with him?" Lord Malfoy asked.
What did this strange man need from her father? Was it the person that sent the letters to her father that he burned with out reading them? She had questions that she might get the answers to.
"Beckford isn't responding to my letters. He had changed much over the years, especially after the death of his wife."
"He still should at least respond to the letters." Malfoy sneered.
"His wife was killed in an attack that was orchestrated by a group of my Reapers. So I can understand why he wishes to avoid me." The man laughed.
Cardia's eyes grew wide at hearing this. She vaguely remembered much of what was explained to her when she was 7 years old. Her father told her that her Mum had gone to join Merlin and the fates as she had saved a child. But hearing that someone was behind her mothers death, even if they weren't there when it happened.
"He still trying to distance himself from those that where responsible which is ludicrous."
"What do you know of his daughter?"
"His Daughter is, I would say is very particular. She is friends with a few in the darker families and those of the lighter families. She is also nice to those of lesser blood then herself."
Hearing the conversation turning to questions about herself she decided to leave before they men found her there listening. Walked back to the ladies party with many questions running threw her head. She just stayed quiet even when her grandmother was glairing at her because she wasn't taking part in the conversation. Just as afternoon tea had finished up, Cardia caught a glimpse of Lord Malfoy and the man he had a meeting with.
It wasn't for a few weeks later that things came to a head when she was awoken by yelling in the usually quiet home. Cardia decided to investigate the yelling as she quietly descended the stairs. She could tell that her father was angry at the fact that their homes visitor was intruding on their families solitude.
"I have ignored all the letters you have sent to this home asking to meet. I figured that you would leave this family alone." Lord Beckford yelled.
"Issac, Issac, Issac, have your heard of me doing so to others who are of interest to me?" A familiar voice spoke in a calm but amused tone.
"I don't want any part of what your planning. My family have always been Neutral or Gray between the Dark and Light Families of our world. I also personally don't want anything to do with you and your organization as your responsible for my wife's death."
Cardia had to place a hand over her mouth to keep them from hearing and noises that she would make. Why was Gellert Grindleward in Beckford Manor? Was it because she heard him and Lord Malfoy a few weeks ago? The questions where running threw her head as she stood there at the door way leading to her father's study.
"Oh I know your family is very much like the Zambini and Greengrass Families, Neutral as to keep the balance of our world. But I'm here to ask something of you that I know you are able to create." Cardia could hear the smirk in the mans voice.
"I want nothing to do with you as you only bring chaos in your wake."
"Nicolas Flamel sides with Dumbledore as such I can not ask him for this, but as you just said you're a neutral party and as such I can ask you this. Since only two people thus far can create what I'm looking for."
"I wont do it."
"Even with your daughters life on the line?" Gellert spoke as the door flew open and Cardia found herself being lifted off the floor.
She felt as the air in her lungs was slipping from her body, as she tried to breath air into her lungs, they burned. It was like they where on fire on the inside. She had no other way of describing it.
"Pretty little thing she is, if she lives to be an adult she'll definitely be able to turn heads of those un-attached and attached." Gellert spoke as he stood and walked over to her, wand drawn and pointed at her.
"Grindlward your issue is with me, not my daughter." Issac spoke as he watched.
"All I ask is for you to create that witch I seek as your one of two Alchemists that have the ability to do so. And I'll leave your little enchantress alone." He spoke, Cardia felt that she may black out from the lack of air she had.
Black spots where forming in her vision as she tried her hardest to stay conscious as she could see her father struggling to stay where he was. He and herself knew how dangerous this Wizard was that was in-between them at the moment. Issac had his wand drawn, but have yet to point it at the man that threatened his family.
"What is it you seek?"
"A Homunculus, capable to house the Horologium Achaz." Gellert Grindleward spoke releasing the spell and disaperating.
