My poll for the next chapter is still up, but it will now be for chapter 44. This is a Petunia actually disciplines Dudley chapter. In chapter 15, it was about Dudley's bullying. In this chapter is about Dudley being irresponsible.
It was 10 A.M. on the morning of Wednesday, August 1st, 1990, and Piers Polkiss was at his BFF Dudley Dursley's house.
Piers and Dudley had just finished playing a few rounds of Super Mario Bros in Dudley's room when Piers piped up, "Super Mario Bros is a fun game, but I still say Pac Man is the GOAT video game."
'It's hard to argue against that when we know that Pac Man is the game that popularized video games, ' admitted Dudley, "I still like Super Mario Bros better though."
"So," said Piers calmly, "I'd like to offer you a bet."
"I hope it doesn't involve me having to hit a home run or throw a touchdown pass. You know I'm not Mark McGwire or Dan Marino, " said Dudley with a smirk.
"No,' promised Piers, "To win the bet I am going to offer you, we will be doing something much more up your alley, "
"We're going to do it in the alley?" asked Dudley confused.
"No, retard, "replied Piers, "Don't you understand the use of expressions? You're so stupid you couldn't spell cat if you were given the C and the A."
"Just tell me then," Dudley told Piers impatiently.
Next nanosecond, Piers pulled out two bags of Peanut M&Ms from his left hand pocket with his left hand.
"So," explained Piers, "We're going to have a Peanut M&Ms eating contest. I'd like to offer you a ten dollar bet on the outcome of the contest. Whoever eats the FULL bag of Peanuts M&Ms faster shall be the winner."
"I accept, " said Dudley eagerly and Dudley and Piers shook hands on the bet with their right hands.
Piers handed Dudley one of the bags of Peanut M&Ms and kept the other for himself.
Dudley and Piers ripped up the bags of Peanut M&Ms and got to work on them.
However, this contest didn't go as either Dudley or Piers might have hoped.
Because they both shoved too many Peanut M&Ms into their mouths at once and ate them way too fast in their attempts to beat each other at the contest and therefore win the bet and get bragging rights, both Dudley and Piers started to choke.
Petunia, who had been doing crossword puzzles, heard the choking noises and went into Dudley's room.
As Petunia entered Dudley's room, both Dudley and Piers proceeded to throw up M&Ms.
'What happened?" asked Petunia after Dudley and Piers had stopped throwing up.
"We were having an M&Ms eating contest, " explained Piers, "We had a ten dollar bet on who could eat a full bag of Peanut M&Ms faster"
"That bet is null and void, " said Petunia seriously, snatching up what was left of the Peanut M&Ms bags. "Piers, I will be calling your mother and informing her of what happened here. It's her decision what to do with you. As for you, Dudley, because you were careless and irresponsible, you will have to be punished."
Dudley looked horrified.
"I won't use corporal punishment here, " said Petunia matter of factly, "However, you will be suspended from being allowed candy for all of August. "
Dudley's face fell.
"But_" began Dudley.
"No ifs, ands, ors, or buts," said Petunia sharply, "Because you acted irresponsibly with candy, you have lost your candy privileges for August and you're lucky that I'm not suspending your allowance for a week or two."
Dudley's face went red, he looked a bit shocked, but it was obvious now he couldn't win this argument.
Petunia, meanwhile, called Mrs. Polkiss on the telephone and informed her of what had happened.
"How are you handling this situation?" inquired Mrs. Polkiss.
"I am suspending Dudley's candy privileges for the entire month of August. He will not be allowed any candy again until September 1st, " answered Petunia.
"That sounds fair to me," replied Mrs. Polkiss, "I shall implement the same punishment for Piers."
After the telephone call ended, Petunia informed Piers of what his mom had decided.
"There's no point fighting it," sighed Piers.
So, Dudley and Piers had to endure an August without candy.
Both Dudley and Piers clearly missed their candy during August, and both of their moms hoped that the unpleasantness and uncomfortableness that Dudley and Piers suffered from this punishment would teach them both a valuable lesson.
A lesson about responsibility.
A/N: Dudley and Piers bet in dollars rather than galleons because they are muggles.
