A/n: Attention readers! PsychoJack is here with the next chapter of Holy Nail War. With victory comes the spoils and boy does our Honda have quite the spoil. He has reunited with Saber and Assassin, only to find himself in a potentially violent predicament. Mordred and Saber are now in full view of the other, and the confusion Honda had made with Mordred has led to this very volatile confrontation. At the same time, Atalanta is also to be dealt with as she herself originally sought the deaths of the other servants. Things are going crazy. How will Honda keep the infighting down, will he be able to temper his rivaling servants. Let's find out!
Honda stared confusedly, still trying to understand the position he was in. One second he was only around one blonde and yet here were two. Both possessed the same faces, eyes, and physiques, and yet they were separate entities entirely.
"You guys are twins?" Honda asked.
Saber looked at Honda. "Honda! Stay away from her, she's not your servant!"
"Of course I'm his servant! I've been here the whole time!! If anyone's an imposter here it's you!" Mordred argued.
'Okay, I'll be honest here, I have no idea what the hell is going on right now.' Honda admitted internally, unconsciously petting Atalanta's ears, causing her to gasp lightly from the affectionate and neurally stimulating sensation of his right hand caressing her feline ears.
Atalanta gritted her teeth as she tried to remove herself from Honda's grip. Due to the amount of blows she had already taken throughout her fist fight with Saber and Assassin at the same time, her arms were weaker from her injuries.
"Let go of me!" The green haired cat woman said with a fierce tone as Honda was her enemy for being the sole figure behind the destruction of the alliance as well as the estate. To the worshiper of Artemis, Honda was akin to a plague, an embodiment of unhinged chaos that needed to be destroyed.
Honda held firm, his left arm keeping her in his embrace.
"I would but it seems to me you could use the help. If I let you go now, you'll collapse under your own weight." Honda reassured, as just by the makeup alone, this cat girl was 'beaten up'.
Meanwhile the red clad knight looked at Honda. Her wild ponytail whiplashing from the fast movement.
"And what do you mean twins!?" Mordred barked.
Honda looked at Saber, followed by Mordred. He was deterred away from Atalanta. "I mean, what else do you want me to say?"
Saber shook her head in the negative as she spoke to Mordred, irritation prominent on her face. "You dare to speak lies to my face. Honda is my master. He has two servants as of this moment, myself and Assassin. You were never his servant to begin with!"
Mordred was angry. "Don't you think I'd know my own master. We literally had to exchange prana to give me the power to save his homunculus there! If you were really his servant then where the hell were you!" Mordred argues back.
"Take your hands off me!" Atalanta stared with narrowed eyes, as she attempted to kick Honda with her knee to his face.
Honda relinquished, not noticing Atalanta about to knee him in the face as he put her down gently. Atalanta, at the moment she was about to thrust her knee.
SFX: TIGHTEN
Felt the muscles in her right ankle get pulled sharply. Somehow, due to her lack of prana, her already beaten body, combined with the current positioning of her legs in Honda's arms, as well as her heeled boots, caused the great huntress to sprain her ankle.
Sharp pain registered in the weakened Archer as she clenched her eyes tight, hissing from the unbearable pain she was feeling. It was shocking that she was this weak from the beatdown. Then again, since this whole war, Atalnata had not recharged her prana in the slightest, and she had already begun with lower reserves due to the unusual nature of the war.
Honda looked in concern, immediately dropping the persona into his normal self.
"Hey. Cat girl? You okay?" Honda said in concern as he noticed her leg twitch from his touch.
"Oh? You sprained your ankle huh? Okay just hold still okay, I'll get you on a stroller. Hey Assassin, where's the medics to this whole war anyway?" Honda asked Assassin.
Assassin tilted her head in confusion. "Medics, master? There are no medics."
Honda looked incredulously at Assassin. "You mean to tell me that in a big budgeted production like this, ya can't afford a first aid kit?"
Assassin sweatdropped. "Um…master she is an enemy. She was Deacon's servant."
Honda eyes grew a tad. "Seriously, Deacon had pretty maids, an estate and now a catgirl and he still couldn't get it up? You're kidding me right?" Honda questioned Assassin.
Assassin seemed unsure as to what to say.
'Get it up? As in like his-?' The shadowy servant tried to get her thoughts in order.
Meanwhile Saber's eyes widened when Mordred mentioned a prana exchange. "That…that's impossible." She looks at Honda who broke out of his attention to Atalanta, a prevalent sweatdrop on his head. "Honda, please tell me she lies. You didn't perform an exchange with her, did you!?"
Honda was thinking back. "Well…I…"
Mordred narrowed her eyes, too distracted with Artoria to even notice the disruption nearby . "Don't even think about keeping up the charade, Artoria! You're gonna try to sell me the bogus idea that Honda confused me for you, somehow suckered me into thinking I'm his servant, screwed the hell out of me afterwards-" Mordred said.
Saber had a flash of betrayal filling her gaze.
Mordred continued, a mocking smirk on her face. "And to top it off, the 'great' King of Knights, the 'pinnacle' of chivalry would sleep around *snaps fingers* just like that! Yeah! That's rich!"
Saber looked aside, mumbling. Technically that would have been true, however there have been many surprises as a result of this unusual war. "I…"
Honda gulped.
'The Holy Nail War sure knows how to keep a guy on his toes. I didn't see this coming!'
-Honda Vision Start-
[Note: Your decisions up to now have led to this point!]
Saber and Mordred could be seen, both dazzling under the lighting as their steel plate armor is highlighted; however, their blades are drawn. They both have pouts and embarrassed blushes on their faces as they looked solely at Honda.
Saber spoke with a girly voice. "Honda, I am your servant aren't I? Then why are you with Mordred? Homewrecker!
Mordred with a fanged mouth barked. "You better not be playing hooky with me! I'll tear your balls off and feed 'em to ya! Ya no good cheater!
Assassin, with a shy voice spoke. "I have no idea what's going on."
Idores with an overtly cute but disappointed voice spoke to Honda. "What did you do Honda? You trying to two time me."
Atalanta stared at Honda, her eyes beckoning him to her. "Nya!" She let out before Honda petted her. *Purr*
Stria looked normal. "This reminds me of the Knight Girl manga. This is the part when the main villain gets caught in an affair and gets his butt kicked.
[Conflict: You cheated on Saber! You banged her twin/doppelganger, Mordred.]
[EVENT: HOMEWRECKER!]
[DECIDE YOUR….]
[Note: Not much to decide. You don f$%*ked up!]
-Honda Vision End-
' Considering the whole immersion thus far I think lying wouldn't really help here. Neither would the truth, but these escorts might just beat it out of me if I lie. Truth is key here, though I better be ready for a major beatdown.'
Honda gulped.
"I think we're all a bit confused. Mordred…me and Saber already…you know…"
Saber blushed immensely at Honda's suggestion.
Mordred looked at Saber's expression, noticing the meek look of the great King of Knights. She looked at Honda.
"This is no time for jokes, Honda." Mordred said, snorting at his statement in denial.
"No seriously…I think I was kinda confused before when we first met…" Honda said with careful awareness as to his words and his delivery.
Mordred's eyes widened slightly. "T-that can't be true…."
Saber mumbled. "Did you…really do a prana exchange with her…Honda?"
Honda gulped, and nodded looking downward in shame. "It's true Saber. I cheated on you!"
Mordred had a flash of betrayal emanate from her eyes. "I am your servant!"
"No…you weren't. See I thought you were Saber over there with a bad case of too much 'mindflaying'!" Honda explained.
Idores' face reddened. Honda still thought 'mindflaying' was a code word for sex.
Artoria looked at Honda. A look of disbelief registered on her face. 'He thought Mordred, was me!?'
"Honda, how can you be tricked so easily!" Saber protested, insulted by Honda being confused between herself and Mordred.
Mordred was more vocal. "B-bullshit! How did you confuse me with her!? What about us looks so familiar?"
Both girls had turned their irritations towards Honda. Assassin could be seen noticeably tiptoeing away a bit from the fiery blondes.
Honda had a deadpan expression."Seriously? I mean c'mon! That's like saying I'm not an actual master in this war!" If only the performer knew how true that statement actually was.
Electric red sparks shot from Mordred threateningly. "Confuse her with me will you!?"
Saber was offended. "I must protest, we have no familiarity! And you admit to…fornicating with her!"
Honda sweatdropped. "Well…yeah!"
Artoria responded with an angry facial expression. "You harlot!"
Artoria couldn't decipher the origin of these new frustrated feelings, but she didn't really care about her harsh words. Honda being with Mordred rubbed her the wrong way and practically triggered her.
Mordred was more blunt. "Y-you asshole!"
Honda sweatdropped. "Okay I kinda deserve that."
Mordred's voice cracked as she spoke. "So, all this time. Everything you said to me about being mindflayed was a lie!"
Honda looked at Mordred. "Actually, gotta stop ya there, you made that conclusion yourself, I went along with it because it was the only explanation that made sense to me…but yes, I thought you were Saber. I didn't know that you were her twin!"
Mordred rose her head looking intensely into the eyes of her 'master'. Her eyes had a noticeable wetness appearing. "She's my father!"
Honda paused mentally. He wasn't sure what the hell was going on. He looked at Assassin. "Do you know anything about this?"
Assassin replied in the negative. "No…"
Stria simply tilted her head at Mordred's statement, wanting to correct that statement but finding herself quiet as she didn't want to incur the wrath of the servant.
Honda felt his brain hurt. "So wait a second…lemme get this straight. You're Saber's daughter?"
Mordred with her teeth bared. "Son!"
Honda continued. He looked at Saber. "And you're her mom!?"
Mordred corrected. "His!"
Honda sweatdropped again. This was getting stranger and stranger. "I thought you were a virgin?"
The other girls looked at Saber, hearing all this was much akin to hearing about an argument in a relationship. They couldn't help but just listen.
Saber blushed and looked aside as a result of being put on the spot. "Technically I was a virgin. A magical ritual was done to make me temporarily a…man…to remove the seed men produce for…conceiving. It was meant to be with Guinevere, that was until Morgan le Fay, my sister, stole it and used it on herself to create Mordred, a homunculus. "
Honda looked lost then gobsmacked. "A sperm donation? And you lied about your virginity. And-"
He points as Mordred. "She's a homunculus? You sure! She's not an albino, and where's the red eyes?"
Mordred seemed offended. "I'm not like those people, okay!?"
Idores scoffed. She took great offense to that. "What do you mean by 'those people', in all my years I have never heard of a flat homunculus!"
"Up yours! I never liked you anyway. You cold stuck up bitch!" Mordred insulted Idores causing her face to redden in anger. Stria held Idores back.
"My lady, please stop!" Stria said as she held Idores from saying anything else, even Idores losing her composure for a second with a servant of all things.
Honda pieced it together. "You had a kid…with your sister!? Wait a sec! You're a man too!?"
Stria placed a hand on her mouth. "Honda, you did it with…you dog!"
Idores could be seen noticeably raising an eyebrow from the summary Honda provided in a blunt manner. She didn't really know much about Mordred or Artoria, but hearing their origins directly…made the Velune head feel lightheaded.
'I never knew much about King Arthur. Never would have that thought she would have such a…colorful history.'
Artoria had a flushed face. "I'm a woman Honda! It was a temporary magical ritual for sireing an heir."
Honda continued. "Were you a 'temporary man' lore wise or reality wise?"
Artoria was trying to understand the nature of the question. Being that she was technically a servant embodying a fictional tale, then that would fit the phrase 'lore wise' right?
"Lore wise?"
Honda seems relieved. "Oh…well okay then! You had me worried for a sec!"
Saber tilted her head. "Normally, people are more shocked to find out I'm a woman to begin with, your reaction is not what I expected."
She actually felt a little happy that her being a woman was what Honda responded with positivity.
Honda smirked. "You're one sexy King! That's all I need to know."
Artoria felt heat rise to her cheeks. She was supposed to be angry but she was steadily being less angry with Honda.
Mordred with her tears flowing from fury and the obvious flirtatious chemistry between Saber and Honda, spoke with her voice cracking. "You manipulated me. You tricked me! I thought…I thought…I was yours."
Honda was growing concerned. Despite the fact that they were escorts, these tears seemed awfully real. "Mordred…I didn't know you weren't Saber, honest! Despite that, we worked together to stop Deacon, right?
Mordred spoke again. Her eyes shadowed by her blonde hair. "You…you said all those nice things to me. When we were…together. Was that all a lie too!?"
Her shoulders shook, desperately trying to shake off these emotions. She couldn't show weakness and yet, it hurt just to gold it all in.
"You mean the pillow talk? No, I meant a lot of those nice things. You're still my Mordred to me. Amnesia or not, we had to start from the beginning, the basics remember. First missionary then doggy-"
Saber interrupted. "Honda!"
"And you're still my Saber. If anything, this was my fault. I didn't know! That was entirely on me, okay? I screwed up."
Mordred sniffled. "Even if that was the case. Why…did you have to be Saber's master. Of all people! Of all times! Why now? How can fate insult me this way!?"
Honda looked between Artoria and Mordred. A silence permeating in the air.
'Oh yeah! Lore wise, King Arthur and Mordred fought at the Battle of Camlann! If that's the case, then these two have some serious beef going on. No wonder they've been acting this way. This Holy Nail War sure know their mythology.'
"Honda's…right. I did come to the conclusion I was 'mindflayed'. And who am I kidding, we do look the same. I always hated that about myself, wearing the face of you and my mother. But you know what, I know what I want. And I know Honda doesn't need you, that's for sure."
Saber narrowed her eyes. "What are you saying?" She clasped her blade.
Mordred continued. "I want…to finish this. We'll settle it…right here…right now…"
Mordred's eyes had a red glint in them. She looked almost possessed by a rage deep inside. "Always being compared to you, being denied my existence or even my birthright because of you! No more…finally I can have my own place in this world, and with it my own kingdom, and someone to be by my side as I do so. I refuse to let you take it away, not without a fight! I will win this war, by relieving you of your throne."
Saber took offense to Mordred's rant. It wasn't literally a throne Mordred wanted at this moment. She was referring to whom would serve Honda as his servant for the war. Saber wasn't sure why, but the thought of being 'replaced' by Mordred made her feel extremely on edge, as well as defensive of her own place in this war.
Two pairs of emerald eyes stared at one another, both practically attempting to stare holes into the others' head with the immeasurable amount of hostility they mutually possessed.
One belonging to the great King of Camelot, narrowed in focus on her greatest and enemy and traitor to the Knights of the Round. Though her enemy possessed her face and blood, the Avenger in front of her was nothing like herself. Mordred was not a knight, but a brute beset on destroying everything related to her, unfortunately succeeding in taking part in the dismantling of her achievements.
The other pair of emerald orbs belonged to the great traitor knight herself. One who, whether out of malice or legitimate birthright, usurped her own king and 'father'. To Mordred, Artoria was the source of her pain. Of being rejected by her own blood, of being denied what she felt was owed, and at the same time, looked down upon as a knight and as a person.
Both walking embodiments of legend stood firm, awaiting the spark of their war that has spanned generations, leading them here and now.
"Mordred…" Artoria the King of Knights said, her eyes narrowed with the calm demeanor of a wizened lion, ready to strike.
"Artoria…" Mordred the traitor growled, her eyes possessed tiny irises that held pure hatred, as well as a seething rage within. She bore her canines in a primal display of aggression.
One knight garbed in royal blue, whilst the other in sanguine red.
Honda called out to the rageful knights. "Saber! Mordred! Why don't we just ease up on the hostility alright?"
Mordred raised her blade, Clarent. A sword embodying the right of succession of the throne, a symbol of kingship now a tainted reminder of Mordred's actions, as tainted as its wielders' feelings for her father. Her prana surging out with a blood red purst of crackling electric power that embodied her hatred. Her energy as chaotic and unpredictable as the one bearing it.
Artoria raised her own invisible blade Excalibur, the power of her wind encrusted sword bathing the legendary Holy sword in golden light. Though currently hidden, the blade still served as a beacon of hope alighting in contrast to Mordred's bloodlust. The golden energy swirled in cyclic motion, like a building tornado, resembling a beacon for those in darkness, and a promise to those who opposed it. Like it's master, the energy was refined and through years of combat, and honed through the firm disciplines needed to become the perfect King.
Saber held her blade firm. Her voice spoke without thought, only feeling. "As if you could ever measure up to what is needed for the right to rule, let alone a true master."
Mordred spoke in a whisper, one that Honda couldn't hear. "He likes me better. I know that much.
Saber's eyes were like daggers. "You lie!"
Mordred smirked. "Am I? We did it twice! What's the matter? Ashamed that for the first time I have something that you don't, that you're lagging behind! How pathetic! We would've done it a third time after that battle that we won without you. It would be perfect if you just…disappeared!" She held up her hand, a fanged smile on her face.
BOOM
CRACKLE
Saber had, in a rare burst of emotional anger, dashed towards Mordred before the traitor knight could register the burst. She was coming in fast.
Mordred looked at her "father". Currently the great Holy Knight, Artoria bore an inconceivable level of venomous wrath in her eyes. One solely directed at Mordred. Mordred sweatdropped, this didn't seem like the noble king in the slightest.
Saber hissed out as she charged her strike. "I won't let you lay another finger on Honda, traitor!"
Mordred responded by dashing with her own blade, both about to meet in a deadly clash. Whoever won would be Honda's servant. An unspoken part of this duel to the death.
A darkness had crept into the stares of the two knights. Both bearing a look of insidious anger, covered only by the green shades of their narrowed pupils.
They intended to finish this in one strike.
"EX-!"
"Clarent-!"
Everyone in the vicinity had begun to run. The light of Artoria's and Mordred's respective attacks bathing the walls in a fiery orange.
"CALIBUR"
"BLOOD ARTHUR"
Before the blades had clashed.
"HOLD!"
All wind and ambience in the surrounding area ceased. A grand light had filled the battleground before dissipating.
Artoria and Mordred felt their bodies sapped of all strength, as they were literally being held midair by a translucent veil of indigo tinted energy. It was much akin to a net that kept them restrained.
Between their still prominently charged blades was the Warlock. The tips of their blades a mere centimeter away from Honda's head.
The two were both shocked as the Warlock had stopped their noble phantasms a split second from contact.
'I never really knew my dad or mom, but I know this. This is not how family should be…'Father' and 'son' at each other's throats.'
" Enough." Honda spoke with conviction and a firmness in his voice. He had the grimoire clasped in his right hand. It was on the first page where a written command word was translated.
Artoria's and Mordred's blades began releasing their energies, letting their respective noble phantasm dissipate before the master in front of them. The one who commanded them.
The moment the blades stopped pouring out their energy was the moment Honda snatched their blades from their hands. He was able to see Excalibur due to its golden energy in use and thus had no trouble holding it properly to not get himself cut.
Both protested. "Honda!".
'It looks like despite the fact that they are supposed to be kings and knights, these two have an entire story arc of their own. How can I tame them both? What these characters need is guidance!' Honda thought to himself.
'Time for me to play "Big Daddy"!'
The Warlock spoke. His words were absolute in their delivery.
" You would dare take the blades of Excalibur and Clarent, blades embodying the rightful honorable rule of kings and the hope of better futures and sully them in the blood of your own kin. As far as I'm concerned, as a master, as a mortal, and as a man, neither of you are worthy of the name of King or Knight. And as thus neither are you fit to wield these blades."
Artoria and Mordred felt the bitter tingling of shame on their consciousness. The dreaded words of their time, that they 'weren't worthy' were spoken. Words that shook them to their core, emanated from the Warlock, their master. Dishonored and relieved of their divine swords, there could be no greater shame.
Phantom wire began wrapping around the two. They were practically hogtied.
" You are both unfit to be called knights as you are! You will have to earn that title back! Since you have willingly forgone your knightly oaths and bastardized its meaning with vengeance and petty rivalries, you will now learn to kneel as the servants you are! Whatever deity that reigns the heavens may not be enough to sway you, but you will learn today that I am not nearly as merciful."
The phantom wire tightened on the knight duo to a painful degree.
" You are weak! But through me, your one true master, will you have the chance to regain your honor. Serve me! Kneel to me! Obey me! Your lives are mine to command! And I command you, that from here onwards, I deny you both your bloodlust!"
Artoria and Mordred felt their bodies spasm in response to a command seal about to be used.
Their eyes shook. He was serious.
" Your vengeance for your kin, denied!"
The command seal was beginning to run its course.
" Your need to spill blood in the name of a fictitious birthright, denied!"
The command registered in the minds of the servants.
" Your defiance in this matter between you, the idea that you both are free from the Warlock's judgment, forevermore, in this world and those beyond, DENIED!"
The absolute command was carved in their being. Saber and Mordred looking at the other, noticing how their pupils glowed purple cracks in their retinas before dissipating as this single omnipresent command was written in their souls.
" Release!" The Warlock uttered, causing Saber and Mordred to fall to the ground, both grunting from the impact. One would notice that during the exchange, the golem was unresponsive, its eyes were somewhat dulled during the display before alighting once more at Honda's saying the word 'release'.
Idores stared shocked underneath rubble that she hid behind. Those two noble phantasms would have destroyed the entire vicinity, and everyone here with it. And yet Honda, one lone man stopped two servants and treated them like children.
Saber and Mordred felt limp, as the command was finished being imbued unintentionally by Honda's over passionate delivery of his lines. To them however, they just saw perhaps the strongest novice magus in existence who disciplined them as if they were not the legendary beings that they were.
'Considering that these two are part of the Holy Nail War, I suppose only one method can tame these two. I'm gonna have to 'torment' them.'
Honda then raised his mask off his face. "First, you'll both be needing a little 'reminder' of how much I appreciate you two. And the new lives you will have by my side, along with its 'benefits'" Honda said, a grin on his face.
Before Saber and Mordred could register what he meant, he had scooped them up, carrying one under each arm as he began walking away.
Assassin reached out to Honda, albeit hesitatingly to not make him angry. "Master? What about Archer?"
Honda stood confident. "Welp no needfor getting rid of the catgirl. I already beat Deacon!"
Atalanta's eyes widened at his claim. The whole nightmarish duel that nearly occurred left her dazed. "Deacon's…dead?"
Honda smiled. "Nope! He's a-okay, but he surrendered his command receipt, and his life is mine. Those security guards he was with took him away."
Atalanta's eyes widened further. "If…that's true…then that means you're…"
Honda grinned lecherously. "You my dear are staring at your new master!"
Atalanta's whole world came to a halt. It was inconceivable that the same man whom Deacon had outnumbered, outgunned and fought on home turf, had somehow overcome all odds and defeated the experienced magi. Worse yet, he was in possession of her master's command seal, meaning that by extension, she was expected to obey.
Atalanta's vision grew fuzzy and disoriented. She was seeing everything lopsided as Honda's voice registered in her ears in a slower and deeper pitched manner as he spoke. She felt faint.
"I'm gonna have to do a mana exchange with you to make it official." Honda said casually.
Archer's whole world was shattered in that instant. To fight as Honda's servant was crazy enough. Now, on top of that, the same man that destroyed this alliance was going to deflower her.
"Dear lady Artemis…protect me!" Atalanta weakly stated to her goddess as her vision blackened. She was too weak to fight against this dangerous magus.
Archer was rendered unconscious.
"Got the cat girl Assassin?"
Assassin nodded dumbly. "Yes? But-"
Honda simply waved off her concern. "Just trust me, that cat ain't going anywhere. Besides, she could use some 'milking' anyway."
Idores and Stria blushed at the implication. They were both not sure what to do here, or even if they should do anything. What could they really do at this point?
Assassin wanted to protest, especially considering the battle that she and Saber had with Archer just a few minutes earlier. However, as a magus, Honda did defeat Deacon and had claimed Deacon's command seal if what Honda said was true.
Assassin shrugged and followed her master.
'I could also use an exchange myself.'
Stria sweatdropped, looking at the golem that was fused to Honda's back. Its strength was immeasurable, considering that with Honda's word it literally stopped two noble phantasms at the last second. It seemed to be constantly observing Honda's movements. And it seemed to be acting in tandem with Honda's actions. Their synchronization has been increasing. The meaning behind it…well Stria still had no idea.
Idores couldn't help but notice that the golem stared at her before fusing to Honda's back completely. A sudden twinge of instinctual self preservation filled her. Despite being an artificial human, even she knew that the golem was more aware of her. As if wanting something.
"Stria, make sure to secure Elias." Idores whispered.
Stria blinked at Idores. The bodyguard seemed to notice something as she tilted her head to the side.
"What?" Idores asked.
Stria pointed at her eyes. "Your eyes, Idores!"
Idores realized something. Her ligare (A/n: Latin for 'bind') was inactive.
She immediately turned towards where Elias was. He was gone.
Stria ran up the debris where Ursus was. He too was missing. Stria's eyes widened. How did they escape?
Idores ran to where Mara Malga was last located. She was desperate in her rush.
The Black Witch of Fuyuki,
nowhere in sight.
CHAPTER END
