The next day

A few streets away from the shopping mall, Yuzu was standing before pedestrian crossing, together with her mother Ume, her stepmother Sakura, and also her stepsister Harumi. Despite the fact that Yuzu was always thrilled to go to the mall for some shopping, especially when it comes to buying new clothes, today... she was quiet and feeling awkward being around her stepsister, thinking of the kiss they shared last night.

Sakura asked Harumi, interrupting the silence. "You seem a little tired today, Harumi."

Ume then suggested as they crossed the pedestrian crossing. "I think I'm going to pick up something for lunch soon." Then she asked Harumi. "Is there anything special you like to eat? Despite what Sakura told me all about you, I want you to tell me what all your favorite foods are. Remember; we're practically family, so that means we support and look out for each other."

Sakura nodded, agreeing with her wife. "Ume is right about that, honey."

"Oh... uhm..." Harumi didn't know what to say and just said. "Sure! Well... honestly, there are a lot of foods I like. Geez. Where to start?"

Yuzu, while following them, thought back to last night when trying to sleep. Same as Harumi, she too couldn't sleep. But besides Harumi feeling guilty of kissing her stepsister, Yuzu however was feeling somehow that it felt right. 'Well… you're not the only one who couldn't sleep last night, Harumi. And... even though Harumi and I may seem similar in many ways and I feel so happy to have such a caring and loving stepsister, why do I feel so... different towards her?' But being so into her thoughts, Yuzu didn't even notice she was heading towards a small pond.

"Yuzu, watch out." Sakura warned her stepdaughter where she was walking to. But seeing Yuzu didn't pay attention, Sakura warned her again. "Yuzu!"

"Huh?" Yuzu glanced confused at her stepmother, realizing too late that she tripped into the pond, grabbing Harumi accidentally by the arm and dragged her with her into the pond.

Ume and Sakura gasped at what just happened as both Yuzu and Harumi were now soaking wet.

Not long after, back at the apartment

"Achoo!" Yuzu sneezed, feeling cold after falling in the pond and took off her sweater before putting it in the dryer. She felt embarrassed about it, especially that Harumi now too was soaking wet and probably was feeling cold too.

"Hurry up and get into the bath before you catch a cold!" Ume called to her daughter from the living room.

"That's what I'm doing!" Yuzu called back as she took off her wet pants and t-shirt.

Yuzu then heard Sakura telling Harumi. "You should get in too, Harumi."

But hearing that from her stepmother, surprised Yuzu. 'Oh shit.'

Later on

After showering herself, Yuzu was sitting in the filled bathtub, blushing deep red knowing that Harumi could step into the bathroom any minute. 'Seriously?!' She annoyingly asked herself.

Then, the bathroom door opened, revealing Harumi and Yuzu had the inch to just hide herself in the water. But to her surprise, she saw that Harumi was still wearing her soaking wet clothes.

"Oh. You... still wear your clothes." Yuzu said, before she said with some worry. "Hey, you should take those off, Harumi. You could catch a cold."

Harumi thought about it before giving a shrug while she smiled. "Yeah, I suppose you're right."

But as she was about to strip out of her wet clothes, Yuzu was blushing deep red, realizing what she just suggested and quickly said before raising herself out of the bathtub and grabbed a towel. "Uhh...! I was just about to get out."

Harumi however raised her hand. "Hey, I don't mind taking a bath with you together. We're sisters now. It doesn't hurt to take a bath together, right?"

Feeling a bit embarrassed, but feeling she was right, Yuzu put her towel back and laid back in the bath. "I guess so..." Before Harumi gave a nod and began to undress. Seeing that Yuzu was going to keep her promise, Harumi gave a small nod. "Well... that's good enough for me then." Before she gave a deep sigh, feeling a bit scared too. "Okay... here goes..." Then slowly, she reached for her panties... putting them down slowly.

Though Yuzu blushed deeply after Harumi took her hand, she wondered why she was shocked all of the sudden. "Hey. What's wrong?" She asked before looking at where Harumi was looking.

"You've got to be kidding me." Harumi said with shock. "The fucking chairman's here today." Before she then told Yuzu her worry as she wasn't wearing the school's standard uniform. "And look at the way you're dressed! Well... I wouldn't mind as it really suits you but... if he sees you this way, he's so gonna murder you."

As Yuzu felt flattered when Harumi said how she liked the way she always dressed to school, Yuzu showed confidence by doing a pose. "Well, sister, maybe it's time for a change in this school! That gramps is no match for the elite Yuzu Taniguchi." showing no fear at all, she walked over to the chairman.

"No, Yuzu, wait!" Harumi tried to call her back, but it was no use.

Being all cheery and happy, Yuzu waved at the chairman. "What's up, gramps! How are you today?"

All the other girls looked in shock that Yuzu walked over to the very strict and ill-tempered old chairman, in her rebellious outfit. Harumi was very worried for her stepsister. 'This is gonna turn out very badly. I know it.'

"And who are you? The nerve." The chairman said with a glare at Yuzu.

'Didn't he get the memo about who my stepmom is?' Yuzu asked mentally with a wide eyed face.

"What disgusting behavior." He added before noticing her uniform. "And clothing. No, not proper at all. No, an uncivilized, disgusting thing is what this filthy creature is."

ButHarumi, not caring about the school rules or if that old man was the chairman, walked up to him. "Hey! Back off her, old man! Chairman or not, no 1 talks about her like that! Nobody!"

"Oh. The freak of the Taniguchi family defends that creature? How not surprising. But considering your 'condition', you're extremely lucky that an abomination of nature such as yourself is even here at all! If it weren't for your sister, I would have cast you out of my school when you 1st got here! As far as I'm concerned, your mother should have aborted you when you were still germinating within her, as an abomination like you and that creature have no place in any society! Let alone the elite of this country!" The old chairman said with heartlessness.

But every one of the chairman's heartless words only caused the stepsisters to snap and, in anger, they delivered a team punch into the chairman's face, making him fall backwards on the ground, making Mei, Mitsuko and the other students gasp in shock at what just happened. Yuzu and Harumi Taniguchi both had just punched the school's chairman!

Yuzu yelled at the old man. "Harumi is not a freak or a monster, you hear?! And if you're too stubborn to listen to other people or won't accept them for what they are then you're a way bigger fool than us!"

Wiping his face, the old chairman glared at the two girls who had the nerve to punch him in the face, especially at Yuzu who dared to call him a fool. He yelled at both of them. "You two have just proven that you don't belong at this school! Get out of my sight! GO HOME, NOW, YOU FILTHY CREATURES!"

Harumi took Yuzu's hand, glaring at the chairman, too. "Good, cause that's what we were planning anyway after everything you just said about us, you old bag!"

Mei helped her grandfather up. "Are you all right, sir?"

The chairman, as he stood back up, readjusted his glasses before asking about the blond haired girl. "Who is that insuperable child?"

Mei answered. "That's... Yuzu Taniguchi, sir. She had just started the semester with us."

The chairman then glared at his granddaughter. "And how could you let that kind of a disrespectful creature disgrace this school, Mei?!"

Mei was shocked that her grandfather yelled at her like that, but bowed, apologizing to him. "I'm terribly sorry, sir."

"I see you've been neglecting your responsibilities as president of the student council. I had expected better from you, Mei." He said in his usual stern voice.

Mei bowed again. "Yes, sir. I'm terribly sorry, sir."

Mitsuko felt terribly that her secret girlfriend was being treated like that by her grandfather, the chairman, but glared at where Yuzu and her sister Harumi walked to. "Hmph! Guess my little sister had no choice but to learn it the hard way."

The chairman then ordered Mei and the rest of the Student Council. "From this day forward, those two girls are not allowed on school grounds for the rest of the week, which, despite the fact that they used disrespectful violence against me, is considered as a simple warning. Is that clear?!"

Mei and the entire Student Council bowed. "Yes, sir."

However, as it seemed like Yuzu and Harumi were going back home, they began climbing the school's walls from behind where the parking lot was. As they both made it to the top of the wall and Yuzu jumped down, Harumi began to laugh. "Hahahahaha! Oh, man! That you called the chairman 'gramps' was like the funniest thing I've seen all year. And... I still can't believe we'd actually punched that asshole right in the face!"

Yuzu chuckled. "Yeah. Someone really had to knock some sense into that old sack of shit. But I never said it was a full proof plan." Harumi handed over her bag before jumping off the wall.

Harumi then smiled, as the thrill of sneaking into school made her feel excited. "And sneaking into school is a great idea as well."

Yuzu nodded. "You bet. We shouldn't let that old bag boss us around, or those damn Student Councilmembers, even though one of them is your big sister. I may sleep in class, but I'm not skipping school."

"Me neither." Harumi said as the both of them sneak further to the school, using the parked cars to remain hidden.

But just as they passed the 5th car, Harumi grabbed Yuzu's hand, which surprised her. But upon seeing Harumi's eyes, Yuzu froze... as Harumi had tears in her eyes.

"Yuzu..." Harumi softly said. "I... Thank you for standing up for me, when the chairman called me a...!" Then, out of her own movement, Harumi leaned in, which shocked and made Yuzu scared for a moment. But then, as Harumi planted a soft kiss on her cheek, all her anxiety vanished... and began to feel warm inside. "Thank you..." Harumi softly said in her ear.

But then, both heard a voice nearby, who was talking on the phone. Both, leaving their little moment out of their minds, peeked their heads out, with both Harumi and Yuzu recording everything on their phones, seeing one of their teachers; Amamiya.

Amamiya chuckled as he said through the phone. "That's some plan." He said in a way as if he was up to something. "U-huh. Exactly. I'm telling you, it'll be fine. As soon as I marry the chairman's granddaughter, money won't be an issue anymore. I just have to play the part for 2 more years, after that, I'll be set for a little while. And that means spending far more time with you and buying you all the things you like, to show you you're the only one for me, baby."

Yuzu and Harumi shared a glance of confusion and shock. 'Holy shit. He's…having an affair!'

Amamiya then chuckled after what his secret girlfriend asked on the phone. "Hahahahaha. Seriously? Forcing her to have a threesome with us? You sure got some dirty mind, you know that?" But thinking how this idea got him turned on, he agreed to it. "Sure, why not. We can have some fun with her together for a little while, before we'll dump her on the streets like a whore and take all her family's money for our own. Yeah. Then it's only you and me." But seeing the time on his watch, he told his secret girlfriend through the phone. "I better get to work now. I love you too, you dirty little slut. Hahahaha. Bye." Before he hung up the phone and walked into the school.

Yuzu and Harumi couldn't believe what they were hearing. "Why that... that son of a bitch!" Harumi snapped. "I knew he was nothing but a perverted asshole, but this takes the cake!"

Yuzu nodded. "Yeah. I mean, sure, Mei can be a bitch sometimes, but nobody deserves to end up like what that asshole and his bitch secret girlfriend are planning with her!" Yuzu sighed and told Harumi. "I don't like the idea of it, but... Mei deserves to know the truth. We gotta tell her."

Later that evening

Yuzu stood outside the school gates for a while before Mei and Mitsuko came out. "Hey. You guys have a minute?"

You're not supposed to be here, delinquent! You and Harumi are both suspended for the next week!" Mitsuko told her.

"Hey, fuck that! I need to tell you both something, and it can't wait!" Yuzu said defiantly before looking at Mei. "Harumi and I heard Mr. Amamiya talking to somebody else today! That jackass pervert doesn't care about you at all. He's just using you to get close to your gramps and take your family's money away from you. He's using you so he and his secret real girlfriend can get rich. But that's not even the worst part: he and his little slut plan on forcing you into having a threesome with them and then they plan to dump you on the streets like a whore when they're finished with you! He's a perverted, heartless asshole, and that's not who you should spend the rest of your life with!"

But Mei, emotionless, only asked. "I know. What's your point?"

"What's my point?!" Yuzu asked with anger. "My point is that that asshole plans to steal your family's money, force you into sex with him and his chick on the side and dump you out on the streets like a whore! That's a pretty awful situation to find yourself in, president!"

"You're a child in a teenager's body. You don't know what you're talking about." Mei told her in the same tone of voice.

"I know exactly what I'm talking about, you weak willed jerk! Don't think for a second you or your girlfriend are better than me, Harumi or anyone else!" Yuzu yelled out before seeing the look on Mei face before the Student council president walked away.

Mitsuko, very angry at Yuzu for making Mei upset, turned to Yuzu. "I don't know where you get off telling that to her, you uncivilized idiot!"

"I was just telling her the truth, asshole! If she's too weak to wanna save herself or her family, that's all on her, not me!" Yuzu countered. "Good luck watching your girlfriend get raped and forced into prostitution when her family's broke and homeless. Cause that's exactly what's gonna happen!" Before she walked away, having said her peace while Mitsuko, still angry, just waved her off and then caught up with Mei and left with her.

Later, back at the apartment

Yuzu and Harumi sat in their bedroom, with Harumi asking her stepsister as she was smoking an evening cigarette by the open window. "Well? Did you manage to talk to Mei?"

"I did." Yuzu answered. "But she doesn't want to listen. And she's just too fucking weak to wanna even try do a damn thing about it!"

That surprised Harumi as she took a drag from her cigarette and blew out the smoke. "What? How can you tell?"

"I don't know." Yuzu shrugged. "But the way that she reacted... with that sad face of hers. It's almost as if she's in physical pain." But then, Yuzu stood up determined. "Well, if she won't tell anybody, then I will! And even if that old asshole chairman will kick us out of school, then so be it! I'm not going to let some heartless piece of shit like Amamiya walk free and do as he pleases while others are too weak to speak out!"

Harumi was surprised that Yuzu was so confident. But deep down, that's like what she admired most from her stepsister. 'Wow... You're like the most rebellious and bravest girl I've ever met, Yuzu.' She mentally said to herself. Forming a smile, she finished her cigarette and flicked it out of the window before she stood up and told her. "Then I'm with you, Yuzu. And as your mother told me; we're a family now, and that means we need to stick together."

Yuzu smiled and both step sisters hugged. They remained like this for a few minutes, feeling... they wanted to remain in embrace, as if their bodies were like magnets, not wanting to leave each other.

Harumi, gathering some courage, looked into Yuzu's eyes. "Yuzu...? Can I... Can I kiss you?"

Yuzu looked with some surprise at her. But... wanting too to feel her soft lips on hers, she slowly gave a nod. "O... okay. Just... one kiss." Before Harumi and Yuzu's heads moved closer... both closing their eyes... their lips only a few inches away from each other...

"Yuzu! Harumi!" Ume called from the living room to them.

Harumi and Yuzu gasped and released each other's embrace, despite being only a very short inch away from another kiss. "Oh shit. Here we go." They said together.

"Can you two come in here, please?!" Sakura added.

The two stepsisters sighed and left their bedroom together, joining their mothers in the living room, seeing them both sitting at the table, looking with a very disappointed look on their faces.

"Sit down. We need to talk." Sakura said, making the 2 teenage girls do just that. "We got a phone call from the school saying that you both punched the chairman in the face, and that you're both suspended for it. Is it true?"

"Yes, it is true." Yuzu answered. "But we can explain."

"It better be a really good explanation! Because if it isn't, we both have a good mind to ground you both for the rest of the year!" Ume warned them.

Yuzu then started explaining. "Well, we we're almost at school when Harumi saw that the chairman was there. Me, not knowing how he was, walked up and tried to greet him in a way I know how to and he…called me…"filthy creature" and a thing."

This shocked Ume. "What?! He called such horrible things?"

But Sakura wasn't surprised. "Typical. That prideful old fool's always been that way for as long as I've known him. He even did the same thing to some of the other 1st timers who started late at the school and weren't trained in their ways yet."

"Then what happened, sweetie?" Ume asked, wanting to know the rest.

"Well, I stood up for Yuzu and…told him to back off her." Harumi answered. "It's what a good sister would do, right?"

"It is, sweetheart." Ume said with a small smile. "Go on."

"But then…" Harumi started as tears formed in her eyes. "He began calling me names, like…the freak of our family and…an abomination of nature and that…mom should have aborted me when I was in your belly, as, in his exact words: an abomination like me and a creature Yuzu have no place in any society! Let alone the elite of this country!"

"It's true, moms, he did say all those things about us. And after he said those horrible things about Harumi, just because she was born different, we…just snapped and it just happened. I…I couldn't just stand there and listen to him talk about her like that, and I don't care who or what he is, no 1 has the right to talk about or treat people that way! No right!" Yuzu said with sadness and anger.

"And I wasn't just gonna stand there and listen to him call Yuzu a filthy creature and a thing as if she's someone's property or not a person." Harumi added. "It's like you both said: we're family now and family sticks together and looks out for each other."

As Ume and Sakura listened to their daughters, while they were still upset about them getting in trouble at school, they couldn't help but feel a bit proud that they stood up for each other, even if the punch in the face was a bit too far.

"Well, that's everything that happened today, moms." Harumi said. "Are we both…grounded?"

"If so, we understand." Yuzu added.

Ume and Sakura, despite the fact that their daughters got in big trouble and suspended for a week, understood that it only happened because they were looking out and standing up for each other, as they'd been teaching them about, both separately and together now as a family. And, if they were in their shoes, they'd definitely have done the same thing. Screw the school rules or the law if anyone talked to them or their daughters in such a horrible way.

"Sweethearts, while we are disappointed that you both got in trouble and suspended for a week, we also are proud that you both stuck together and defended each other against someone who would try to hurt you both with emotional pain and horrible words." Ume said with sympathy.

"And for that, we've decided not to punish you. But only just this once. If you get into a situation like that again, please just walk away." Sakura implored them. "It takes a strong person to walk away instead of fighting in a situation that isn't worth it. Please, promise us both you'll do that next time."

Both Yuzu and Harumi smiled. "We promise." They both promised together.

A few hours later

Yuzu laid awake in her pallet bed, staring at a sleeping Harumi, admiring how cute she looked. 'Look at her. She's really cute when she's sleeping.' She thought to herself.

And when Harumi rolled to face Yuzu, the blonde girl blushed and, unable to control herself and wanting to feel Harumi's lips on hers again, leaned in. But this time, she was successful and shared a passionate kiss with Harumi, despite the other girl being in deep sleep, and dreaming of kissing Yuzu. "Mmmm. Mmmm. Mmmm." Harumi moaned before Yuzu broke the kiss.

"Yuzu…I…want you. I want you…so bad." Harumi said in her sleep, making Yuzu smile before she laid back down with a content smile.

The next day at the school

After a long speech from Mineko, Kayo was about to announce that Mei and Mitsuko would come up next when Yuzu and Harumi came up. "Hey, you shouldn't be up here!"

"Screw that! We have something to say, and you all will hear us out!" Harumi said before announcing to the entire school. "My name is Harumi Taniguchi, and this is Yuzu, my new step sister."

"We have the same announcement to make! And being as how we hate long speeches, we'll keep it short and simple. We're probably gonna get expelled for this, but someone has to do this!" Yuzu added before revealing to the entire school. "1st off: Mr. Amamiya made out with a student! Right here at school, too! He was totally forcing himself on her! I was ready to get expelled when you and I told the whole school about Amamiya and who he really is. But I'm glad that the other teachers supported us enough that the grumpy chairman lifted our suspension after that."

Harumi chuckled. "Yeah, I too was ready to be expelled as well, but as soon as we told the truth and the police arrested that perv, there wasn't any reason for them to punish us and instead reward us."

But right at that moment, Mei walked up to them. Yuzu and Harumi didn't know what Mei came over to them for. Yuzu and Harumi both shared a confused look before Yuzu then annoyingly sighed. "Uuugh! But we were planning to go to the mall together!"

Harumi felt her pain. "I know it sucks, Yuzu. But if my mom, your mom or both of them want me to go home much earlier, I think it won't be that really serious." Before she gave her a wink of confidence. "Tell you what, you just buy something for me as a surprise, okay?"

Yuzu still felt disappointed that she couldn't spend the rest of the afternoon with her step sister, actually hoping deep down they could do some... more stuff. but Yuzu smiled and gave her a nod. "Sure! I'll buy something you'll love."

Many hours later

Yuzu arrived back home after spending several hours going through multiple shops to see the newest fashion trends. Though she didn't bought much, she had bought a beautiful Kimono dress for Harumi. In her mind, Yuzu smiled. 'I'm sure that Harumi is going to love it!'

When opening the door, Yuzu said while taking off her shoes. "I'm home!" But to her surprise, she didn't see Harumi's shoes along with her mothers. So she called. "Moms?!" But as she walked into the living room, she saw both Ume and Sakura sobbing in each other's arms. "Mom? Sakura? Are you crying? What's wrong?"

Ume and Sakura both looked at Yuzu. "We have bad news, sweetheart... It's about Harumi." Sakura said with great sadness.

Yuzu was shocked to hear that for a moment. "What happened?"

"They came and took her away from us!" Ume cried.

"What?" Yuzu was completely surprised and shocked as she sat with her mother and stepmother. "But... I don't understand. Who do you mean by 'they'?"

Sakura sobbed while she stated. "It was... my oldest daughter and my ex-husband's secretary. They said that they came to take Harumi away to live with her father!"

Ume then added. "Harumi wanted to argue... but... Mitsuko insisted that Harumi was better off with her and their father. So... Harumi didn't argue and... took her things and went with them."

Yuzu felt deeply angry inside, feeling more hatred towards Mitsuko to take Harumi away from them without giving a real big reason. 'That…THAT BITCH! SHE HAD NO RIGHT TO DO THAT TO US! The next day, at the academy

Yuzu was waiting in the locker room when Harumi walked up to hers and she tried to talk to her. "Harumi. Why didn't you fight harder to stay with us?"

Being so confused about her feelings, and also feeling she didn't know what to say, Yuzu remained speechless.

Harumi then planted a soft kiss on Yuzu's cheek and sadly said. "I'm really sorry, but I... my father doesn't want to associate with you anymore. And I think..." As tears formed in her eyes. "It's just for the best..." She then began to walk away, trying to hold her tears. "Goodbye... my sweet sister...!" And then ran off, leaving behind a depressed Yuzu. But in a bathroom a few hallways away, Harumi bursts inside before shedding her tears, not wanting this to end with Yuzu... Mitsuko then added. "I agree as well." Before telling her younger sister. "I warned you that this would happen, Harumi! You should have just listened to me and followed the rules!" She said before mocking Yuzu, who was getting herself dressed. "And you: did you really think you would end up with my sister? I don't think so. As far as I'm concerned, you're nothing, just a child who has no place in my sister's life." She said, mocking Yuzu.

This made Yuzu even more sad and she yelled out with tears in her eyes! "NOOOO!"And ran off.

Harumi tried to go after her. "Yuzu! Wait!" She called out, but was stopped by both Mei and Mitsuko, who held her arms tightly. "LET GO OF ME!"

Later that night, back at the apartment.

Yuzu, feeling sad, just walked into her room without eating dinner, not hungry after everything that had just happened. She'd found a note from her mothers saying that they'd gone out to take their minds off of losing Harumi, so she had a few hours to herself. "Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! DAMN IT!" She yelled out angrily. But then, she noticed a barely open drawer in Harumi's desk, having forgotten about it due to thinking all about her during the last few days. She walked up to it and opened it all the way, finding a pack of Harumi's cigarettes and a lighter.

Yuzu picked them up and opened the pack, finding it was full. "She must've forgotten them while she was gathering her things." Before she pulled 1 out, went to the window and opened it. "Well, she did say that the offer stood." She said before putting the pack down, putting the cigarette in her mouth and lighting up, taking a drag before she coughed out the smoke. "Fuck! Is this what all 1st time smokers go through?!" She asked herself before calming herself and sitting down. After a few minutes, she took another drag from the cigarette and blew out the smoke, finding it a bit easier this time as it seemed to calm her down a bit. "Damn. I can see why Harumi smokes now. They really calm you down a bit. I think…I could get used to it." She said while looking at it with a small smile while thinking of Harumi. "Although, when Harumi offered me the chance to smoke with her, I didn't think it'd be without her." She said sadly before taking another drag from her cigarette and blowing out the smoke, all the while, she kept thinking of why she felt the way she did about Harumi.

A few minutes later

After finishing her very first cigarette, flicking it away before closing the window, she took a bath to get the cigarette smoke off her and prepared for bed soon after, turning off the lights and trying to get comfortable, but was unable to as she hugged Harumi's pillow and blanket to her, thinking to herself. 'Why do I feel this way about Harumi? She's my step sister and yet, I feel like she's so much more than that. If only…the world wasn't against us. If only…I could…tell her how I feel.' Before she realized something as she sat up, holding her hands on her heart while tears formed in her eyes. 'Wait a minute, that's it! All this time, what have I been trying to say to her? Those times we got close to each other. The times we touched, kissed and felt each other. And, with me smoking my very 1st cigarette. The truth is…I've never felt like this before. I'm beyond clueless about love. But here love is…right in front of me.'
