Once Greenly finished her classes, it was time for lunch. She arrived in the castleteria and saw the line of students holding their lunch trays and picking out what food to eat. Greenly was about to join the line until a fairy suddenly landed in front of her. Caught off guard, Greenly was dumbfounded as the fairy turned to her with a smirk. "Oops, too slow." her voice incredibly snide. Greenly frowned. She looked at the fairy. She had platinum blonde hair held up in a ponytail and wore a glittery black dress with dark blue leggings and cyan boots. Judging by her dark clothing and callous disposition, she must be a villain.
As the fairy got her tray of food, she walked to a table and bumped shoulders with Duchess Swan, both of them nearly dropped each others' food. "Hey! Watch it!" snapped Duchess.
"Excuse me?! You're the one who should watch it!" the fairy snapped back.
The students couldn't help but watch seeing thse two girls who looked ready to explode in each others' faces. Before things could escalate, Briar quickly came in between the two. "Hey! Cool it, you two! Faybelle, just apologize!"
"Me apologize?! Fat chance!" said the fairy named Faybelle. "I'm a villain! I never apologize! Besides, she's the one who should apoligize! She bumped into me!"
Duchess gritted her teeth. "Why, you wicked little-"
All of a sudden, Faybelle and Duchess started levitating all the way up to the high ceiling! Everyone immediately backed away as an elderly woman came in sitting cross-legged on a floating pillow. She obviously loved to accessorize as she wore lots of jewelry on her body along with bones and feathers decorating her long wiry grey hair. A red scarf was wrapped around her head and she wore a patchwork dress. Greenly swallowed. It was Madame Baba Yaga, one of the most powerful witches in the land of Ever After and an advisor to dark magicians. Queen Pea warned Greenly to be very well behaved around Madame Yaga. She was a teacher that you did NOT want to cross.
"That's quite enough, ladies." Madame Yaga said as she gently lowered the girls back to the ground. "If I hear any more bickering between you two, you'll both be spending the rest of the day as a newts!" she threatened, her glare cold and sharp like a knight's sword.
"Yes, Madame Yaga." Duchess and Faybelle groaned.
"Good, now I suggest you go your seperate ways." the teacher coldly suggested. The girls huffed and marched away from each other. Madame Yaga shook her head as she floated away.
"Man! That was too close!" Amber said, who appeared out of nowhere, startling Greenly. "Although I wouldn't mind seeing Faybelle as a newt."
"Faybelle?" said Greenly, still recovering from the shock.
Amber nodded. "Yeah, she's the daughter of the Dark Fairy from Sleeping Beauty, one of the most powerful fairies ever after. And being the next Dark Fairy, Faybelle is totes powerful and she knows it." she implied as she rolled her eyes. "So, first rule about Faybelle: just ignore her."
"No argument here." Greenly said quickly. She and Amber got their lunches and joined Ian and Bentley at a nearby table.
"Man! Did you see those crazy chicks square off like that?" said Ian. "I was about to bet on Faybelle to win the fight!"
"Same here!" said Bentley. "I mean, Duchess wouldn't have stood a chance! That Faybelle chick could just put her into sleep for a hundred years like she will to Briar!"
Amber shook her head. "Faybelle's not that powerful yet. Putting someone into enchanted sleep for a century takes a lot of magic. At the very least, Faybelle can put someone to sleep for a few weeks."
Greenly turned to her roommate. "How do you know that?"
"I'm a fairy too, Greenly. Knowing comes with the territory." Amber replied. "So, how're the princess classes?"
"Meh, no different from my lessons back home." Greenly shrugged. "I would hexpect more of a challenge."
"What's it like mingling with other princesses?" Bentley asked with excitement in his voice. "Are they even hotter up close?!"
"No, they're all the same." Greenly said with resentment. She paused. "Well, except for...Raven."
Amber nearly choked on her chocolate milk. "WHAT?!" she coughed.
"You saw Raven Queen?!" Ian said in shock.
Bentley gasped. "Is she cute?" he asked right away.
"Bentley!" Ian smacked his friend upside the head.
"Ow! What?!" Bentley rubbed his sore head.
"Relax, you guys. Raven's actually pretty cool." said Greenly. "In fact, she's not even remotely obnoxious as a royal or a villain."
Right on obnoxious cue, Blondie Lockes popped in holding her MirrorPad. "Blondie Lockes here reporting on the first day of school at Ever After High!" She aimed her mirror pad at Greenly. "This princess, um, who's name I can't remember at the moment, was bold enough to actually sit next to the queen of all things evil, Raven Queen! Is there anything you'd like to say?"
"Uh, who are you again?" Amber asked. She remembered who Blondie was, she just didn't care.
"Blondie Lockes!" Blondie answered with her usual bubbly energy. "You may not this, but I actually come from royalty myself!" she declared to her audience.
But Amber and the boys did not looked convinced, especially not Greenly. As an actual royal who studied royal familes, Greenly knew very well that the Lockes family have no royal roots whatsoever. And yet Blondie was insinuating that she was. Greenly also knew that despite not being royalty, Blondie was acting spectacularly annoying as a spoiled royal.
Blondie continued her interview. "So, fellow princess, can you please describe how you survived your encounter with Raven Queen?!"
But Greenly didn't respond. She just calmly continued eating her lunch.
"Uh, excuse me! The camera's rolling!" Blondie insisted. But Greenly kept ignoring her. Just as Blondie was about to keep pestering Greenly, Bentley raised his hand.
"I can tell you." said the boy in blue.
"Finally!" Blondie skipped over to Bentley. Bentley gestured Blondie to come closer. Once Blondie was inches from Bentley's face with her MirrorPad filming, Bentley opened his mouth and let out a gigantic burp. Blondie Lockes gagged and drew back as Bentley and his friends burst into laughter.
"This just in: You are DISGUSTING!" Blondie screamed at Bentley. She stormed away as the four friends kept laughing.
"Okay, now that was worth filming!" Greenly laughed.
"I thought that powder puff would never leave!" said Amber.
Ian slapped Bentley on the back. "Nice one!"
Bentley smiled with pride as he took a bow. "Thank you, thank you. No autographs, please."
All the other royals just stared. "That guy is so gross." said Briar. "I can't believe that one princess is sitting with them!"
Apple shrugged. "Well, it takes all kinds of people to make a kingdom, I suppose."
After a while, Greenly had just finished her lunch. She got up to put away her lunch tray. But before she could get to the garbage can, a boy dressed as a rebel rocker with a fedora blocked her path. With him were two unruly looking students who seemed to mimic the boy's style. "Hey there, your royal hotness." he said with a charming smile. He offered his hand to the princess, but Greenly didn't offer hers.
"Excuse me." Greenly quickly passed the boy and took care of her lunch tray. She tried to return to her friends, but the boy blocked her path again.
"Hey! Where's the fairy fire?" asked the boy.
"Leave her alone, Sparrow Hood." said Ian. "She's not interested. Besides, you're just trying to swipe her jewelry."
"Who? Moi? Not a chance!" Sparrow said. "Can't a guy just be friendly to a gorgeous girl?"
Greenly stiffened as she registered that this was Robin Hood's son, Sparrow Hood. Her mother told her all kinds of stories of how Robin Hood would charm girls into a false sense of security so he can steal from them. Sparrow smirked as he came closer to Greenly. "Feel like sittin' with me, cutie?" He reached out and the moment his fingers touched Greenly's hair, Greenly grabbed Sparrow's arm and threw him over her shoulder. Sparrow screamed in agony as Greenly held him in a painful judo hold.
Everyone was shocked. Several students dropped their trays and their jaws.
"OKAY! OKAY! I GIVE!" Sparrow yelled. Greenly released Sparrow and calmly brushed herself off as the students stared.
"Greenly Pea!" boomed a strong voice. Stomping toward Greenly was Milton Grimm, headmaster of Ever After High. He towered over the princess with a sour frown. "What is the meaning of this?!"
Greenly quickly composed herself before the headmaster. "I apologize for my actions, Headmaster Grimm. But Sparrow Hood was harassing me and I was defending myself." she replied, ever so collected.
"It's true! We saw the whole thing!" said Amber. "Sparrow was stroking her hair like a creep and she was only protecing herself!"
"I saw it too, Headmaster!" said another girl. Greenly looked and saw a girl that was entirely made of wood! Greenly stared at the wooden girl with fascination as she continued to speak. "She was protecting herself! And you know I can only tell the truth!"
Hearing this, Headmaster Grimm hummed thoughtfully, twirling his mustache. "I see. But just remember, Miss Pea, fighting is not becoming for a princess. You must find better ways to defend yourself other than violence." he advised. "For example, find a nearby prince to aid you when you need it most."
'He's got to be kidding.' Greenly thought. No prince would bother to help a plain princess like her. But a princess had to respect her elders. "Yes, Headmaster Grimm."
With a nod, Headmaster Grimm left the castleteria. That's when Blondie Lockes started to speak. "Whoa! What an explosive first day of school! Greenly Pea, the powerhouse princess just gave Sparrow Hood the schooling of the century!" Blondie aimed her MirrorPad at Greenly. "Greenly, do you have anything to say?"
As chattering students flocked around her, Greenly felt herself sink like she was knee-deep in quicksand. The news of her sudden attack on Sparrow began to spread like wildfire.
At that moment, I, Greenly Pea, daughter of The Princess and the Pea, gained a reputation I never wanted on my first day of school.
