It was the first day of school at Ever After High. The blue sky and shining sun filled the air with excitement as the sound of teenage students drifted on the warm breeze. Standing tall and proud like a true queen, Greenly Pea faced her beloved school with a confident smile. To celebrate the new year, she had a whole new style. Her hair was still bright red and in a high ponytail, but she upgraded her tiny crown to a golden tiara perfect for a proud princess.
But it was the rest of her look that was the biggest change. She wore a white t-shirt with an embroidered gold crown in the center of the shirt placed over an embroidered green heart. A knee-length glittering green tulle skirt, white socks and green Mary Jane shoes. Greenly's princess look was taken to a whole new level. A level that she enjoyed very much!
"Hey, girl!" Greenly heard the sound of fairy wings flapping. She looked up and smiled when she saw her BFFA Amber Spite. "Requesting clearance to land!" Amber landed softly to the ground. She had on a long sleeve mint satin shirt, a black faux fur skirt, and mint high heels. Her wings had grown in size so she had to get a new wardrobe to fit her bigger wings.
"Dang, girl! I am loving that outift!" said Greenly. "You are totes rocking the fur look!"
"Thanks. Rosabella got me into it." Amber smiled as she smoothed her hand down her skirt. "I'm not just magically sweet, I'm wild with a dark side."
"Hey! Greenly! Amber!" Raven Queen called out with Maddie Hatter walking with her. Raven was using her magic to levitate a trunk filled with her belongings.
"Hey, guys!" Greenly greeted. "Lookin' good!"
Raven's eyes lit up "Greenly! You're wearing the shirt I made for your birthday!"
"Yeah, it's the first day of school. So, I had to look my best!" Greenly pointed her thumbs to her favorite shirt made by a friend.
"Greenly, you're the sweetest person ever after." Raven said. "I just wish everyone felt the same way about me..."
Amber gave Raven a nudge on the shoulder. "Hey, don't let the haters get to you, Raven."
"She's right. We're here for you, girl. No matter what." Greenly assured her friend.
"Thanks, guys." Raven managed to smile. "So, did you meet your roomies yet? Maddie and I are going to be rooming with each other."
Greenly shook her head. "Not yet. But we're ready for anything." She waved goodbye to Raven and Maddie. At that moment, she and Amber saw the double trouble dudes Ian and Bentley. Ian wore an orange beanie over his short back hair. He had on an open black hoodie with a gray t-shirt, black cargo pants, and orange boots with black laces. Bentley had his short light blue hair combed neatly and wore a short sleeve light blue shirt with a white bow tie, white shorts and light blue sneakers.
"Wow! You guys look good!" Amber said. "You got-"
"More style than any guys here?" Bentley said for Amber. "We know."
Ian shrugged. "Even I decided to tweek my look." He looked around to make sure no one was within eavesdropping range. "So, you guys ready to pull off our big shebang?"
"So ready!" said Bentley.
Amber grinned. "I was born to do this!"
"Fairytale Four, let's kick off this school year in style!" Greenly raised her hand and the Fairytale Four shared a group high five. They walked into the school and were surprised to see the hallways completely empty except for Raven and Maddie.
Greenly saw the bummed look on Raven's face. "Raven? You okay?"
"Oh, just fine. I just walked right into the school and terrified everyone away." Raven deadpanned.
Amber shook her head. "Haters gonna hate."
"Don't sweat it, Raven. If it makes you feel any better, we've got something big planned today!" said Bentley.
"What's that?" asked Raven.
Just then, loud hip-hop music started blaring throughout the entire school. Raven and Maddie nearly jumped a foot in the air. Then a pre-recorded voice of Greenly's voice was played over he PA system.
"ATTENTION STUDENTS OF EVER AFTER HIGH! PLEASE REPORT TO HEADMASER GRIMM'S OFFICE IMMEDIATELY FOR FREE SNACKS AND ENTERTAINMENT!" The Fairytale Four shared the same knowing smile as Raven and Maddie stood in stunned silence.
"Follow us." Greenly said with a wink.
Raven and Maddie followed the four friends toward Headmaster Grimm's office. There, they saw a crowd of students watching Headmaster Grimm glaring at his office door. The loud music can be heard thumping from behind the door. Raven noticed some students eating delicious looking donuts, cookies, and other sweet treats.
"So, what exactly is going on?" Raven asked Greenly.
"Well, if you must know and I know you must, we sent a message to the whole school that there will be free refreshments outside Headmaster Grimm's office with a dance party held inside!" Greenly explained.
"A dance party?! In the headmaster's office?!" Raven couldn't believe her ears. "And he's cool with it?!"
"Of course not!" Amber replied. "In fact, he's not throwing a party in there. We hacked into the PA system and locked his office from the inside!" She couldn't help but snicker to herself.
Raven gasped. She watched Headmaster Grimm struggle to open the door, but no luck. He even rammed and kicked it with all his might, and still no luck. "Why won't this blasted door open?!" he roared. "Where's Mr. Badwolf when you need him?!"
Blondie Lockes bounced right up to the angered man. "Allow me, Headmaster Grimm!" she said, bubbly as ever. She took a bobby pin out of her hair and picked the lock. When Headmaster Grimm opened the door, he and Blondie were blasted by an explosion of pink glitter.
The entire student body howled with laughter. Even Raven and Maddie were laughing! The Fairytale Four cheered before victory dancing to the beat of the music. But the glitter bomb prank party was cut short when the music abruptly stopped. Madame Baba Yaga poofed before the students. They silenced themselves quickly or they'd be turned into toads.
Headmaster Grimm roared as he wipped the excess glitter off his reddened face. "I DEMAND TO KNOW WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS!" His voice was louder than the hip-hop music. He noticed Raven Queen still trying to keep in her laughter. The headmaster pointed directly at Raven. "MISS QUEEN!" He marched right over to the teenage dark princess. "I suppose this is your idea of an evil prank?!"
"What?!" Raven exclaimed. "I didn't do this!"
"Raven! How could you?!" said Apple White. "I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm glad you're embracing your role as a villain. But how could you?!"
"Miss Queen, I'm glad you're embracing your evil destiny. But nonetheless, you must be punished." Headmaster Grimm said sternly.
"She didn't do it! We did!" Greenly blurted out, shocking everyone. Raven herself was especially shocked.
But Headmaster Grimm was hardly shocked. "Miss Pea, taking the blame for someone maybe a kind thing to do. But a lie is still a lie, so there's no point in defending Miss Queen."
"Greenly is telling the truth!" Amber said. "I magically locked the door and rigged it to make the glitter bomb go off!"
"I hacked into the PA system." Ian admitted.
"I...picked out the song." Bentley said.
"And it was all my idea." Greenly said directly to Headmaster Grimm. "We were just having a little fun, that's all."
Now Headmaster Grimm looked shocked. But his face grew into a withering scowl of disapproval. "Miss Pea, in all my years as headmaster of Ever After High, I would have expected such an evil prank to be conducted by a villain! Not a princess!
"You call that an evil prank?" Faybelle said while munching on a chocolate chip cookie. "All they did was serve free food, play some music, and set off a glitter bomb. It's not like they unleashed a horde of unruly baby dragons!"
"And no one really got hurt, Headmaster Grimm." Apple added, wich caught everyone off-guard. "It was just a harmless little prank. Go easy on them."
Greenly was completely floored. Perpetually perfect, goody-two shoes Apple White was standing up for Greenly?!
Normally, Headmaster Grimm would severly punish someone for a prank like this. But Apple White was his one weakness. This was the future queen of Ever After so he had to be careful not to step on Apple's dainty toes. He heaved a sigh. "Miss Pea, since my office is a glittering mess, we'll discuss your punishment in Madame Yaga's house."
Right on cue, Madame Yaga's wicked cackle echoed before she poofed into the hallway. She snapped her fingers and herself, Headmaster Grimm, and the Fairytale Four were gone.
