Back at home, Karen sat on her couch while Detective Mike sat across from her and a female cop sat on a chair to the right of her. She was in tears. She couldn't believe that Shane was dead. She felt so bad about it that she blamed herself for it. She sniffed and said, "How could I have been so stupid! I feel like an idiot now!" Karen began to sob.

Seeing her sob, Detective Mike grabbed some tissue off her table and handed it to her.

Karen grabbed it and wiped her face.

A few seconds later, Andy came through the door. He was surprised to see his mom crying with Detective Mike and another cop. "Mom?"

Everyone stopped and looked at him.

Despite her sobs, Karen managed to put a smile on her face and greet her son. "Hey Noodle!"

Not wanting Andy to hear what was going on, the female cop got off the chair and walked to Karen. "Come on. Let's talk in another room." She placed her hand on Karen's back.

Karen stood up and straightened up her sweater. "I'm gonna be right back ok!" She and the female cop walked away into another room.

Feeling scared and confused, Andy walked and sat on the couch his mom was just on.

"Hey! Don't worry ok! My partner is just asking her some routine questions." Detective Mike comforted.

Even though the Detective offered words of comfort, Andy still wanted to know what was going on. This was family!

Karen was sitting on the kitchen floor sipping a glass of red wine feeling depressed. She couldn't believe Shane was dead but already had a family. Guess she couldn't see the signs! "I should have known!...I should have known!" Karen took another swig.

As if to comfort her, Andy walked into the kitchen and sat right next to her on the floor. He didn't even complain about the floor being dirty. What a sweet boy! "Hey!" Andy leaned his head against his mom's shoulder. "I love you."

Karen put her glass down and looked at Andy. Without saying anything, she leaned her head against his head.

The fact that they made physical contact was emotionally bonding. With this emotional bonding, both instantly felt better. Blood really is thicker than water! Both sat there and just absorbed each other's energies. They felt sad but now they both felt better. They had each other even if they lost their friends. Although neither one said anything to the other, Andy and Karen seemed to be able to read each other's minds. Mother and son shared a special bond.
