At the Owl House Grime was busy putting on some robes on himself and taking a few glyphs if he needed them. Tonight he is going to meet up with Raine, Darius and Eberwolf so they can enter Belos' mind tonight. They were meant to do it last night, but they didn't show for some strange reason.
He walked down stairs to see Eda walking around the room looking absolutely frustrated whilst holding Luz's damaged robe.
"I can't even do this since you're a wild witch, she says!" Eda exclaimed whilst Lilith, Yunan and Hooty watched on. "Uh, this is absolutely ridiculous. Everybody is joining a Coven nowadays!"
"Prim was bound to listen to that old liar someday." Lilith said. "Like I did until I realised how bad he was. If only there was a way we can prove to people he was human. I mean his lies are going to get people killed if we know what The Day of Unity is all about."
"It sounds ridiculous." Yunan remarked. "Plus, the whole Coven system sounds very discriminatory. Why can't we go about telling people the truth?"
"Belos has been Emperor for 50 years. Everyone is used to his lies. No one's gonna risk change unless you have proof that he's up to something." Eda said.
"Plus, nobody wants think they've wasted their lives believing in something." Lilith said. "Does Amphibia have anything like this?"
"Ah, I've busted a lot of dangerous cults in my days." Yunan said. "If we had the effort, this one would have been a slice of cake as humans say."
"Well, all we can do now is think of a plan." Eda said. "Hooty, how goes the door to Amphibia?"
"I think my carpentry skills have succeeded." Hooty motioned to the door that he made, poorly though. It collapsed into wooden pieces and screws. "Well, bright side is we still have Amity's glove."
Grime walked in to the living area. "So, I assume the plan is to build a door and get lucky?" Grime asked.
"Well, it is what we've been trying to do ever since Raine got brainwashed." Eda replied before noticing Grime's look. "What's with the robe?"
"Going out for some apple blood." Grime replied. "Don't wish to be seen by the Emperor's Coven after I snuck into the palace. I am wanted since giving Darius a concussion."
Eda laughed. "Yeah! He deserved it! Okay Grime, you go out and get crazy. Plus, get some for me, okay?"
"Okay." Grime walked out of the Owl House while Lilith looked at Grime in suspicion.
"What are you staring at Lili?" Eda asked.
"Grime." Lilith replied.
"What?" Eda chuckled. "You finally attracted to someone? Because I don't know if being attracted to an anthropomorphic animal is okay."
"No Eda, plus I'd never be attracted to anyone." Lilith replied. "Grime did the same thing last night. He went for apple blood and was gone for who knows how many hours until he came back."
"So?" Eda asked. "He went out to get crazy. What's the issue?"
"He came back sober." Lilith replied intensely as she picked up a bunny walkie talkie and put it in her pocket.
Yunan and Eda looked shocked by the revelation until Eda just dusted it off. "Eh! He can probably handle it better than I can."
"Well I don't like it!" Lilith declared as she stood up and summoned Jasper, her Palisman. "I'm going to follow Grime and see what he's up to. Eda, keep in touch with me."
"What do you think he's doing?" Yunan asked.
"I hope it's not the worst." Lilith replied as she walked out of the house and jumped on Jasper.
"Believe me, the worst he'd do for me is bring a grubhog." Yunan said.
"And you think him being a secret agent to the Emperor's Coven is a whole lot better?" Lilith retorted.
Yunan began to think about it. "It sounds worst. But what could be worst if he's a secret agent to the Emperor's Coven and bring a grubhog all at the same time!"
"What is even a grubhog?" Eda asked.
Yunan stared intensely at the Owl Lady. "The scariest animal known to Amphibia."
"Well, see you in a short time." Lilith took off on her Palisman and flew towards the town of Bonesborough.
When she got there, she saw the night market was up and ready. With a lot of people selling suspicious items.
She noticed a bird-like demon selling some liquid. "Nightmares! Nightmares! Get your nightmares here! Wanna wake up early for work?! Well, a nightmare will help ya!"
"Teeth!" Cried a witch that looked like a dentist. "Get your teeth here!"
She also noticed Tibbles running a stand and appeared to be negotiating a deal with Edric, whom was using the persona of illegal fireworks saleswitch D. Ricti Beth GL. "I have a hard time believing that you're D. Ricti Beth GL."
"Look sir, do you want these fireworks or not?" Edric asked.
"Are you sure these fireworks scam people?" Tibbles asked.
"Of course they do." Edric said as he crossed his fingers behind his back.
Lilith looked at the exchange in disappointment. "Of course he doesn't keep his promise." She then noticed Grime approaching three silhouettes in a robe. One tall, one short and the other around Raine's height.
The one in the middle who looked like Raine motioned Grime to follow them to a dark part of an ally. Lilith gave a suspicious glare before following the four down the ally.
During the walk to the dark ally, Grime gave a very angry glance at Raine. "So, any reason why you didn't show up last night?"
"Sorry, Belos wanted to make sure preparations for The Day of Unity were to his satisfaction." Raine replied.
"It was supposed to last 36 minutes, but for some reason, Coven heads really like to talk." Darius replied.
"So, how are we gonna enter the sucker's mind?" Grime asked.
"A little spell I studied." Raine replied. "Though getting out is going to be difficult."
"By the way Raine, I should have told you this." Grime said. "That Hunter kid."
"Is a pain in the butt." Raine interjected.
"Yeah…But, according to Lilith's possessed hand whom was somehow communicating with other people Granem possessed in other universes…"
"Bodywalkers can do that?" Raine asked.
"Apparently so." Grime replied. "I guess communications between other universes are strong with Bodywalkers. Anyway, Hunter is probably a Grimwalker of Phillip's brother, Caleb."
Raine, Darius and Eberwolf were surprised. Though Darius' seemed to have lasted a short time. "Huh, that explains why he looked like the previous one."
"Huh?"
"I was friends with one of the previous Golden Guards back in my younger days and when I was just joining a Coven." Darius replied. "This was before people like Spieg and Comet took over. He was a great Golden Guard who did question the Emperor's authority. But then, one day, he vanished."
"Did you know where he went?" Grime asked.
"I don't know." Darius replied. "But the more I learn of Phillip AKA our beloved Belos, the more worried and concerned I get."
Later, the four arrived to an empty location where a lone Coven scout was standing about. The scout stared at them with surprise. "Hey! What are you…"
Grime quickly ran up towards him and slammed his head against the wall, shocking Raine. "Grime!"
"What?!" Grime exclaimed before digging through his pockets.
"Grime!" Raine yelled even louder.
"Okay! Okay! I won't steal his wallet!" Grime instead dug through his wallet and took all the snails he had.
Whilst Raine began to prepare the spell, Lilith was watching with suspicion about what they're doing. "Is this how Grime gets initiated into the Coven?" Lilith asked her Palisman. "Okay, how should I do this? Okay, maybe I need to do this quietly. Before…."
"Edalyn to Lilith! Edalyn to Lilith!"
Lilith froze in shock over her sister interrupting from the walkie talkie. The sound of Eda talking through the walkie talkie wasn't ignored as Raine, Grime, Darius and Eberwolf looked up to see Lilith hitting the walkie talkie in anger and frustration.
"Wait, is that Lilith?" Grime asked.
"Quick, get out of here!" Darius yelled.
"On it!" Raine proceeds to start playing their flute and create a smokescreen.
Up in the air, Lilith was trying to shut her sister up. "Edalyn! I am above Grime and Raine had just gotten away!"
"Raine?! What are them two doing?!"
"I don't know! I…." Then, Lilith accidentally fell off her Palisman and fell into the smoke where she landed on something rough.
The smoke cleared to reveal that she had landed on Grime whom was somehow still here. "Huh, I guess I missed the cue."
"Grime, you better have a good reason…." It was at this moment, Lilith had suddenly stepped on a neon yellow vial. The liquid flashes brightly.
"Uh….Lilith, what did you do?" Grime asked.
Then, the circles Grime and Lilith are standing in start flashing brightly, causing them to cry out in shock. The light then wraps them up and shoots up into the night sky, creating a firework.
When Lilith's Palisman, Jasper flew back down to their owner. They looked around to see that they were gone. They squawked in sadness before flying back towards The Owl House.
Elsewhere, Grime awakens. "Uh….And I thought my trips during my late teen years were intense." He looks to his left and then sits up, finding himself in a dimly lit corridor. On the walls of both sides, there are multiple huge paintings. Grime then looks to his front and raises a shocked look. In front of him, there is a huge painting depicting Emperor Belos holding his staff while looming over her, King, Lilith and Eda in her Owl Beast form. Below the painting is a plaque which says "TRIUMPH OVER WILD MAGIC". Grime then stands up and moves backwards with a frightened expression on his face.
"What….What is this place?" Grime asked.
"We're in the mindscape." Lilith replied as she adjusted her glasses. "And judging by these pictures….We're not just in any mindscape, we're in Emperor Belos' mindscape!"
"Of course I…..." Grime knew what a mindscape was, but he didn't want Raine's cover to be completely blown so he had to act like a complete idiot. "Uh….Define mindscape."
"The mindscape is a place where the memories of witch or creature resides." Lilith replied. "But since we're in Belos' mind, I guess humans must have those as well. Though, this room isn't like most mindscapes from what Luz told me when she entered Willow's mind."
"Wait, why was she entering Willow's mind?" Grime asked. "Unless she wanted some juicy info about her girlfriend."
"No, this was before they became a thing." Lilith said. "You see, Amity burnt Willow's memories."
"Burnt memories?!" Grime asked. "How does that work?"
"Well….Wait, why are we having this conversation?!" Lilith exclaimed. "So, this is where you go out, eh?!"
"Yes! I went out to get apple blood." Grime replied.
"Then how come you returned home sober, last night?" Lilith asked.
"Because I can clearly handle it a whole lot better than you." Grime retorted.
"Then why were you following Raine, Darius and Eberwolf?!" Lilith asked.
"Uh…They were trying to execute me." Grime said.
"Really?" Lilith asked. "Then why did they draw a mindscape circle?"
"I don't know!" Grime replied. "They probably got it wrong! So, this must be Belos' mindscape? Much more….Self absorbed than I expected it to be."
"No, this is how I pictured his mindscape." Lilith retorted. "Hey, look at this painting."
They walk towards painting depicting Belos guiding people away from a burning town. This made Grime laugh while Lilith began to ponder.
"Look at this!" Grime laughed. "Someone has an ego!"
"Hmmmm, I don't know." Lilith said. "This all seems like stuff he'd say. His tales of his days trying to save us from wild magic. But, we've seen wild magic."
"Yeah, it's not that bad." Grime said.
They then walked to a painting of witches putting their hands towards Belos, who is holding a glowing floating orb with his left hand.
"Belos always says that the Coven system makes the Titan happy." Lilith said.
"But, if that's the case than why didn't the Titan do that in the first place?!" Grime asked. "Instead of giving them all their magical abilities at birth, why didn't they just not do that?"
"You make a good point about that." Lilith remarked. "Hey look…" She walked towards a painting of Hunter kneeling on his knees, being handed his staff by Belos while the Coven heads watched on. "….This was when that Golden brat was given the rank of Golden Guard." She then looked at Darius, whom looked visibly sad. "Why does Darius look sad?"
Grime starts looking around and notices the painting he first saw when he woke up. He walks up to it, and touches the part where Owl Beast Eda is drawn at. "I wonder how he sees me." He then turns around to see a picture of himself only it was really unpleasant. "Aww, what?! Is this how he sees me?! My scar is on this side!"
Suddenly, he hears the sound of a child crying. He follows the sound, and finds a child figure with a wooden mask similar to Belos's sitting behind a pillar sobbing. He notices Grime and immediately stands up, frightened by his presence.
"Belos?" Grime and Lilith said simultaneously.
Though Lilith was actually looking at something else instead of the child. She was looking at a dark figure resembling Belos approaching them.
"Uh….What is that?!" Grime asked.
"I think it could be his inner Belos." Lilith replied.
"What?!" Grime exclaimed.
"The inner defence mechanism everyone has to protect them from intruders that enter their mindscape." Lilith replied.
"I assume Luz had to deal with that in Willow's head?!" Grime asked.
"Of course she did." Lilith replied.
The dark figure stops in front of them looking at them with sinister intention. "Do we try and negotiate with it?" Grime asked.
The child figure emerges from behind it and shakes his head and hands at the duo desperately. They look at him with a puzzled expression when suddenly, the dark figure roars and starts transforming, revealing multiple glowing eyes on its body while also screeching.
"Definitely not!" Lilith replied.
"Watch out!" Grime yelled before rushing to the front of Lilith and taking out some fire glyphs from his pocket, then slaps on it. This creates an explosion with blasts strong enough to send everyone flying backwards.
Grime and Lilith roll on the floor then crash through a wall, falling down a dark void. They scream as they prepare for a painful fate. But then Lilith realised that she can transform into harpy mode and transformed into harpy Lilith and caught Grime.
She gently hovered down to the ground which looked pretty dead, like some kind of forest fire had spread far and wide. She landed on the ground and placed Grime down.
"You okay?" Lilith asked as she turned back into her witch form.
"I'm fine." Grime replied. "Hey, if you can fly what's the point in having a Palisman?" Lilith began to ponder that question for a moment. "Forget that question, where are we now?" They look up to see the hole they came through just now disappeared.
They then looked around the area they were in. It was a strange place filled with dead trees with paintings all about. Some were kind of damaged.
"This must be Belos' real mind." Lilith theorised. "That gallery we was in must have been his fake memories."
"So, he had some self absorbed version of the truth in case someone got suspicious and looked into his mind?" Grime remarked.
"How powerful is this human?" Lilith wondered. She then noticed a painting of Phillip holding a knife walking towards two silhouettes. One who looked like Hunter and the other who looked like someone familiar. "What the…"
"Boo!" Exclaimed the voice of Eda, causing Lilith and Grime to scream. "Lilith, are you there?! Is Grime with you?"
"We're fine Edalyn." Lilith said.
"We're in a bit of a bad headspace." Grime said. "Literally."
"Where are you? Your Palisman came back looking scared and worried so I assumed something bad happened."
"Eda. We may kinda sorta be trapped in, uh... the Emperor's mind." Lilith replied.
"How in the world did you….No, we don't have time for that. Has the Inner Belos spotted you yet?"
"Yeah, but we escaped." Lilith said.
"Yeah, we also encountered another Inner Belos." Grime informed Eda.
"Grime, there can't be two Inner Belos'." Lilith informed Grime. "There can be only one."
"I have heard of strong emotions materializing. Just stay safe you two. If you're devoured in his mindscape…"
"We'll be trapped forever and dragged into his subconscious." Lilith interjected.
"Uh, sorry, what?" Grime reacted.
"Well, we're gonna get you out!" Yunan declared. "We'll make a return spell as fast as we can!"
"Just don't lose the walkie-talkie. It's our only connection to you." Eda said.
"You got it Eda. Over and out." Lilith put the walkie-talkie in her pocket.
"Do you think Yunan will make a good spell with Eda to get us out?" Grime asked.
"Why do you think she wouldn't?" Lilith asked.
"Because it's Yunan." Grime replied.
"Okay, you make a good point." Lilith said. Then, they heard some rustling nearby. "What is that?"
Grime pulled out some glyphs. "Come out you disgusting beast!" They look towards the source of sound and see the child figure from before emerging from behind a tree. Grime looked perplexed and relieved. "Well, he could be a beast underneath that mask."
"Thank you for helping us before." Lilith approached the kid Belos. "You don't seem as intense as your inner self."
"Shame you come from a real jerk." Grime said.
Suddenly, from somewhere above, Inner Belos screeches, which surprises Lilith and Kid Belos. He covers his ears, then runs towards Lilith and grabs her arm.
"If strong emotions can take form, maybe he's the Emperor's... I don't know, sense of guilt?" Lilith theorised.
Grime laughed. "Ha! Judging by his paintings, that man has no guilt whatsoever! This kid is probably…I don't know, his inner kid."
"Well, whichever it is, I think he can help us stay safe." Lilith said. "And maybe you can show us who Belos really is." Kid Belos nods.
"Yes kid, we're riding a lot on you." Grime said. "And if you betray us….Than we're gonna be disappointed and I might kill you."
"Grime!" Lilith yelled in disapproval. "What the hell?! He's just a kid!"
"It's Belos." Grime argued. "Wait, did you hear that?"
From somewhere above, Inner Belos screeches again. Kid Belos grabs Lilith's arm and drags her away.
"No time! Let's go, go, go!" Lilith cried with Grime following behind.
Kid Belos leads Lilith to a painting and jumps through it. Lilith prepares to follow suit with Grime, whom stopped in amazement.
"Wait! Did he just jump through a painting without destroying it?!" Grime laughed. "Ha! I'm already liking this place more and more." Somewhere above, Inner Belos screeches again.
"No time to admire it, let's go!" Lilith said before she grabbed Grime's arm and drags him towards the painting and fall into it together.
Back outside the Owl House. Eda arrives back on the Owl staff with Yunan and Jasper. She then flings the door open.
"Hooty, I need you to lock down the house." Eda commanded as she entered the living room and grabs some stuff from the ledge above the fireplace. "Windows shut, curtains drawn, absolutely zero distractions." Jasper hovers nearby, also grabbing an object while Yunan just tossed them over her back with zero regards to damage. "Jasper, go grab all the textbooks you can find." Jasper flies to find all the textbooks they could find. "This is gonna be tough without magic. Hooty! Chop-chop!"
"Ma'am!" Hooty proceeds to barricade all the windows, summon some spiky plants from the ground to surround the house, and latch the front door shut with multiple locks. He then hangs a sign outside the front door which says: 'BRB!'.
Not far away, Raine, Darius and Eberwolf are hiding in the bushes. Darius intends to go near the house, but is stopped by Raine.
"Oh, hey, Lilith's trapped too, right?" Hooty asked Jasper. At the mention of Lilith, Raine immediately rushes forward, but Darius halts them. "Eda's smart but... without magic, I'm afraid she can't do much. Plus, I hope Lulu's okay. Oh and Grime as well. I'm still considering eating him. Maybe a bit of his mucus."
Raine crosses their arms as Darius scratches his head. Eberwolf pops out from a bush beside them. Raine then proceeds to write on the ground to communicate with the duo. They write: 'I KNOW HOW TO GET PAST THE BIRD', 'OWL?', 'TUBE?', 'HIM!'
They also sketch a drawing of Hooty with arrows pointing at it. "What even is that?" Darius asked.
"I….Still have no idea." Raine replied.
Back in Belos' mindscape, Lilith and Grime fall out of the painting Lilith previously pulled them into. Kid Belos appears out of thin air in front of them, and runs away while laughing. The duo follows him to an area depicting one of Belos' memories, which takes place during Deadwardian Era somewhere in Bonesborough.
Multiple townspeople have gathered in front of an empty platform. Kid Belos vanishes as he approaches the crowd, while Lilith and Grime run towards the platform and stop in front of it.
"He says he can talk to the Titan." Said one of the townsfolk.
"The Titan's dead, how is that possible?" Asked another one.
"Because he's lying!" Grime exclaimed.
"Grime, they can't hear or see you." Lilith said.
"Oh!" Grime grinned before giving them the rude finger gesture. "This is for blindly believing a liar."
"Sssh!" Lilith commanded.
She pointed towards a young Belos stepping onto the platform where the townspeople gasped at his presence. His mask looked like it was made of wood, like he had just started off with the persona.
"Fellow citizens, we are born into chaos." He bows. "Our lives anger the Titan. My own family has been hurt by the darkness of wild magic." As he's speaking, a past version of his artificial magic staff sparks and smoke comes out of it, obscuring everything around him, he starts to twirl his staff, clearing the smoke, and 9 differently colored lights shine from it. "I've been shown the healing light, it shines in nine hues!" The townspeople gasped in delight and awe.
"Yeah, fall for it, you gullible morons." Grime said.
Then, explosions suddenly start to go off everywhere around Belos. "The wild witches! They have found me, run!" Belos cried to the townspeople who began to run in fear and terror. Belos also ran, but down an alleyway nearby where Lilith and Grime followed.
When they get there, they see Belos standing in front of a previous Golden Guard scolding him. "You incompetent fool! You nearly took my head off with that blast!"
"I'm sorry, Lord Belos!" The Golden Guard said.
"I'm off to the next town." Belos declared.
"Uh, what about... the rest of these?" The previous guard asked.
He takes off a blanket revealing various boxes of unused explosives. "Put on a bigger show." Belos replied.
Lilith and Grime's face turns to a mix of shock and realization. The previous Golden Guard ignites the fuse, then follows Belos into a building.
Kid Belos then appears, picks up a bag filled with what sounds to be glass bottles, and jumps through another painting. Lilith and Grime follow suit, and land outside the memory.
"So that's how he did it!" Lilith exclaimed. "Explosives! They were quite convincing I'd give him that! Now it only makes me regret working with him even more."
"And that must have been the first Hunter." Grime said. "Hey Lilith, did all the other Golden Guards sound so obnoxious that you'd wanna punch em?"
"Believe me, the current one is the most annoying." Lilith replied. "I still can't believe he's now on our side."
Then, the inner Belos starts to creep out of a memory, reaching towards Lilith and Grime. "Ah! He found us!" Lilith screamed.
Kid Belos laughs and jumps into another memory; Lilith and Grime follow him in.
This memory takes place at the top of the Knee, where Belos is standing in front of a group of nine witches and demons. Kid Belos jumps up and grabs a loose rope hanging off one of them before running away, something that Grime noticed.
"What's the kid doing?" Grime asked.
"Shh!" Lilith gestured to Belos, whom was gesturing towards a burning city in front of the crowd
"Look at what wild magic has done to your city." Belos said. "Now imagine what it's doing to you. A city can rise from the ashes, but a soul..." Belos shakes his head slowly. The crowd becomes uneasy and murmurs among themselves.
"What does that mean?" Asked one of the witches.
"I can make your magic pure again, as the Titan intended!" Belos declared.
Another previous Golden Guard appears next to Belos, a yellow glow emitting from his finger. The crowd extends their arms outwards, and the previous guard uses his finger to brand a coven sigil onto each of them, representing all nine covens.
"Welcome, to your new covens!" Belos exclaimed.
The witch looks down at the sigil branded onto her wrist. Suddenly, lines start to come out of it, spreading throughout her entire body as she exclaims in pain and panic. Her eyes glow, and the scene cuts to the other eight group members with the same effect as they all drop one by one to the ground, becoming unconscious.
The previous guard kneels down next to the horned witch and checks her pulse. "They're... still alive." He said.
"Then we still have some work to do." Belos declared. "Gather the Palismen."
The previous guard brings two staffs to Belos, who snatches one of the Palisman off its staff and crushes it before walking away.
The horned witch gasps softly and the previous guard turns around to look at her writhing in pain before he walks away.
Whilst this went on, Lilith and Grime were standing behind her, both looking horrified. Grime then looks at her in concern.
Then the two began to look at the unconscious crowed with the same facial expressions. A strong gust of wind blows past, bringing along some snow that obscures the bodies from their vision.
Outside the memory, Kid Belos jumps out of the painting while laughing. Grime then comes out from it and runs off. Lilith emerges from the painting shortly after.
"What is that?!" Lilith exclaimed. "He just hurt these people!"
"He said he... needed to perfect the sigil magic." Grime said. "They were alive unless….the sigil magic is….Intent on definitely killing them."
Lilith began to panic with horror and fear over this revelation. "That….Genocidal witch hunter! I'm actually glad Amity and Hunter aren't here."
Grime notices Kid Belos emerging from behind a tree while laughing. "You think this is funny, kid?!" Grime exclaimed. "You're bringing this destruction."
Grime was about to chase after the kid Belos, but Lilith grabbed him by his wrist. "Grime! He is just a kid!"
"I don't care!" Grime argued. "That kid is Belos! He deserves all the pain coming to him! Anyway, what happens if you kill your inner-self?"
Lilith froze as she thought of a response. "To be honest, nobody has tried to kill anyone's inner self."
"Well, time for a first timer!" Grime rushes towards Kid Belos, but before he can catch him, Kid Belos suddenly stops and turns around. The sound of Inner Belos screeching is then heard from behind Grime, prompting him to turn around.
"Huh?" Lilith reacted.
Lilith turns around and sees a tall and lanky skeletal Inner Belos approaching her and Grime. It then screeches at the duo, causing them to scream in fear and immediately start running away before it can catch them. They follow Kid Belos to another painting and jump through it.
They hide behind a few of the destroyed trees and saw part of inner Belos' skull come through the painting, sniffs around, then leaves.
Both Grime and Lilith let out a sigh of relief. Kid Belos pushes Lilith's arm away, then runs forward to pick up empty glass bottles from the ground and put them into his sack.
Not far away, Grime and Lilith are shocked to see the portal Luz destroyed before has been restored. "Raine wasn't lying." Lilith said.
"He's got a portal?!" Grime asked. "Not to self: Heist to the Emperor's palace!"
"But…But how?" Lilith reacted. "Seriously, how did Raine come up with the theory of our worlds merging with Earth?"
"I can hear you." Belos said.
Grime and Lilith appear surprised at what Belos just said. Not far away, he walks towards the portal, but then stops and looks back. From somewhere behind the duo, someone starts laughing maniacally, prompting them to turn around and look up at a tree behind them. A pair of glowing eyes then appear from the darkness within the tree branches.
"You caught me." Exclaimed a childish voice. A strange shadow in an abstract form emerges from behind a tree branch. To you, who stray so far from home. To me, who's trapped beneath these bones. We'll play forever, me and you, when you paint the land in nine bright hues!" As they speak, the shadow moves around the room and transforms into multiple abstract picture forms. Eventually, after reaching the portal, the shadow transforms to depict nine people lifting up their hands in a worshipping position. They then transform again to depict a screaming Titan and people being shattered into pieces. After that, they revert to their original form and start cackling.
"What can I do for you, Collector?" Belos asked.
The Collector moves towards a statue and lies down between its arms. "I'm bored! Is the Draining Spell ready yet? I wanna play and see everything go all..." The Collector transforms themselves to wrap around the statue and then screams, eventually shattering into multiple pieces.
"You'll have your fun on the Day of Unity." Belos assured him he turns around and walks away from the portal.
The Collector appears on the door. "Betrayed, beguiled, alone, deceived! We'll have our revenge on... Ugh, "unity" is so hard to rhyme."
Grime and Lilith are bewildered by everything they have witnessed. "That's….The Collector?" Lilith asked.
"A child?" Grime reacted. "We wasted our time in the past for a child?!"
Suddenly, a projection of Hunter from the past runs through Grime, much to the duo's surprise. Grime then clutches his chest in shock.
They watch as Hunter ran up the stairs towards Belos, who is standing in front of the portal. "I- I know you didn't want me going to Eclipse Lake." Hunter said. "But if I hadn't, I wouldn't have found this!" The former Golden Guard shows his uncle the key.
Belos immediately snatches the key away from Hunter's hand. He then holds up the key to take a closer look, and sees some Titan's Blood leaking out of it. "Some... of the Titan blood did spill, but- but if you let me explain then-"
"Leave. Now." Belos commanded sternly.
Past Hunter looks up at Belos sadly before he ran away back to his room. Belos stood in front of the portal as the sound of Past Hunter's footsteps becomes further away. Eventually, the sound of a door closing can be heard.
The Collector then emerges from behind the portal. "Ooh, you were maaaaad. I thought you were gonna go all..." The Collector transforms into an image depicting Belos with multiple tentacles, then scream and wave the tentacles around. "...on that kid."
"Not as long as he stays in the right path." Belos replied. "I say, 'The Titan has big plans for you,' and he does what he's told. Unlike the previous attempts."
"I'm starting to think you make those things just to destroy them." The Collector laughed. "You have fun with it. Admit it!"
Both Lilith and Grime were shocked. "No way!" Grime exclaimed.
"He couldn't have." Lilith said in disbelief.
"Of course I don't, Collector. It hurts every time he chooses to betray me." Belos said, though there was a small smile on his face.
Outside the memory. Kid Belos jumps out from the painting and runs off. Lilith comes out, then helps Grime out of the painting.
"He really does want to wipe out all life in the Demon Realm. And the sigils help him do that." Lilith said.
"Wow, that is surprising." Grime said, though he already knew thanks to Raine.
Not far away from them, Kid Belos puts down some objects on the ground while Lilith and Grime tried to think of plans.
"I don't believe it, Grime!" Lilith said. "They're all true. Is this what human witch hunters did? They go to other worlds with witches to try and wipe them out?!"
"This is awful." Grime said. "I mean…Is there anything else that…." Grime notices something in front of him and Lilith and becomes horrified.
It is another part of Belos' memories, except this one has multiple broken Golden Guard masks on the ground. There are also some paintings on the trees depicting what happened to the previous Golden Guards.
The two of them were so horrified by what they were seeing that there were no words. Only tears from Lilith and sweat coming from Grime.
The two suddenly hear something cracking and gasps, turning towards the source of sound. Behind them, Kid Belos is standing in a circle made out of rope and surrounded by multiple arrows and bottles of liquids. He breaks a Golden Guard mask in half and throws it into the fire.
"Hey! Stop that!" Grime runs towards Kid Belos and drags him away from the fire. Lilith then proceeds to stomp out the fire.
"Why would he do that?" Lilith asked.
Something floats past Lilith's foot, and she gets into a defensive posture. Multiple strands of this unknown substance float towards the rope circle, then form into Inner Belos, who proceeds to start screeching loudly. Grime and Lilith look at it in shock as it stomps on the ground. Its body appears to be made of dozens of small, screaming, animal-like figures.
"Get away from him! Danger! Danger! Run!" The thing cried.
"Run! Run!"
"Are those... Palismen...?!" Lilith reacted in shock.
"Wait, what does this mean?" Grime asked with confusion and fear.
"We weren't running from the Inner Belos." Lilith replied as fear took over her. "He was with us, the whole time."
Behind the duo, Kid Belos is facing away from them and crying, but this soon turns into a maniacal laughter as he takes out a wooden sword and strikes the rope on the ground, transferring some sort of energy into the circle where the Palismen figure is at. This activates it and launches the bottles onto the figure. The rope then tightens around the figure, causing it to crash to the ground.
Grime and Lilith turn around to look at Kid Belos, who proceeds to transform himself into Adult Inner Belos.
"Hello, Lilith. Hello, Grime." Belos said. "Or was it…Lord Grimothy and Dirtrude?" Lilith and Grime stare at the mad man in anger and fear all in one. "Ah. I was finally able to catch it." He walks towards the figure. "This thing's been a thorn in my side for years. All these weepy Palismen souls..." He puts his hand on the figure, causing the figure to start turning into dust. "Their voices constantly nagging me." He grabs a bird Palisman from the pile. "Vile. But without them, I wouldn't be able to do this." Inner Belos transforms his left arm into some sort of goo and squeezes the Palisman. Grime and Lilith's faces are filled with shock and horror as Inner Belos proceeds to destroy the Palisman in front of them, causing them to wince. "Ah...I'm feeling better already." He turns to the two. "Thank you for distracting it."
"What did you do to the other guards...?" Lilith asked in horror. "Those were your nephews!"
"What a shame." Inner Belos' face turned cold. "You saw the damage. I thought you'd figure it out. Besides, out of all the Grimwalkers, he looked the most like him."
"You have caused so much pain Belos!" Grime exclaimed. "But not just to me and Lilith, to your nephew! I will fu…." Then some sticks shot up from the ground and silenced Grime.
"Shut up!" Belos commanded. "I was really expecting him to last longer than the others. But now I know that he's in Amphibia protecting those vile frogs and toads."
"We're gonna tell everyone about the Day of Unity, that you've been lying about the Titan for years!" Lilith declared.
"Yes, this has gone on longer than I'd have liked." Belos said. "But... no one ever said being a witch hunter was easy."
"I can't believe you, you monster!" Grime tore the stick from his mouth. "You brainwashed people into believing you! To helping you to make a system that will kill them!"
"I wouldn't be so judgmental, if I were you." Belos said. Inner Belos proceeds to summon a picture frame from the ground behind them.
It then shows the moment where Lilith showed Phillip how to use the light glyph and him retrieving the Collector and how he and the Collector talked on how to wipe out the witches.
"No! No! No! No! No!" Lilith reacted in shock and horror. That tears began to fall from her eyes. "No!"
Grime was beyond shocked and horrified. They had inadvertently helped Belos set everything into motion. "No! No! I…I….I….I no! Nooooooo!" Grime punched a tree in anger, causing it to shatter.
Belos looked upwards in disappointment. "Hmm, I wonder what this moment would have been like with Luz?"
Back to the living room of the Owl House. Eda uses a dropper to put a drop of liquid into another liquid inside a flask, but the reaction causes an eruption of gas.
"Bones, dirt, and muck!" Eda throws her flask on the floor. "I don't have time to fail!" Eda knocks over a book stand.
Someone suddenly knocks on the door, grabbing everyone's attention. "Inopportune interruption, eh?" Hooty remarked. "I'll handle this."Hooty retracts outside.
Eda picks up the book stand she just knocked over. "Eda? What do we do?!" Yunan asked in desperation.
Eda doesn't reply and only looks at her with a worried expressions while Yunan only sighed in sadness.
"Eda!" Eda looks up and sees Hooty barging in through the window with a bouquet of flowers inside his mouth. "Special delivery from a secret admirer!" Hooty puts the flowers inside a glass vase.
"Is it from Wrath?" Yunan asked as she activated her wrist blades. "I told him I won that belt fair and square!"
"Hooty, that thing could be booby-trapped. Get it outta here." Eda commanded.
The flowers suddenly start floating and glowing, surprising Hooty. The flowers then wilt, causing the petals to drop and the contents wrapped inside it to dissolve in the vase and create a yellow liquid. Eda picks up the note that comes with the flowers and reads it.
Eda gasped. "It's the teleportation potion into the mindscape! But who would..." Eda walks over to the window and looks outside, in time to see someone disappear behind a rock.
"Figure it out later." Yunan commanded. "Now we can save them."
"Hold up." Eda begins to read the note. "It says it still needs a power source. And a big one."
Yunan thinks for a bit, then runs to grab Amity's glove and offers it to Eda. "Use this! If it helps!"
"But... that's the last of Luz's Titan Blood." Eda said. "We need it to find her."
"Eda, we can't lose Lilith or Grime!" Yunan argued.
Eda grabs the glove from Yunan's hand and stares at it hesitantly. "I'm sorry Luz."
Back inside Belos's mindscape. The duo back up from Inner Belos and trip over, not knowing that Lilith had dropped her walkie-talkie.
Just then, Eda's voice rings out from the walkie-talkie. "Guys, you there? We're getting you two out.
"Now you two know, I have two options." Belos said. "Do I kill you? Or do I let you live? So you know of your mistakes. Knowing you have killed an entire species. Then again, I could try and kill Raine for the beating, but they're part of it anyway."
As he speaks, he slowly walks towards the two who back up with frightened expressions on their faces. They then accidentally fall backwards and roll down a slope.
"I told you once before, Dirtrude." Lilith stand up as Inner Belos approaches them. "Perhaps... He morphs into Philip. "…we were destined to meet." He walks away.
"And what about Hunter?" Grime asked. "What's a Grimwalker? Is it a clone of a dead person?"
Philip morphs back into Inner Belos. "He's... a better version of an old friend. But, thanks to the human and her insufferable allies, I'll have to make another one."
"They're not answering!" Eda exclaimed. "Grime? Lilith!"
"But... why? Why go through all this?" Grime asked.
Inner Belos grabs a Golden Guard mask and holds it triumphantly. "I'll do anything to save humanity from evil."
Lilith shakes her head. "No."
"You two, we're gonna start the countdown. Are you ready?"
"You're evil." Grime argued.
"Can't reason with crazy." Inner Belos said.
"Five..."
Lilith grabs Grime and run towards the walkie-talkie to get back to Eda. But Belos just let them live so they could live with the guilt of wiping out witch-kind.
"Four..."
They run close whilst Belos watched on. "I'll see you two in a few weeks."
"Three..."
"The Day of Unity will begin." Belos said.
"Two..."
"Luz won't be able to stop me." Belos said.
"One!"
Lilith and Grime reach the walkie-talkie as Lilith makes a dive for it. "Eda, now, please, now!" She cried before a burst of light envelopes the both of them.
Outside the Owl House, the ground rumbled and multiple beams of light flashes through the gaps of the barricaded windows.
Back in the living room Lilith and Grime emerge in a puff of smoke whilst Yunan, Eda, Jasper and Hooty looked down at them as the newt and bird tube attempt to approach the duo.
She blocks Yunan and Hooty. "Don't crowd them." She turns to the duo. "Are you two okay?"
Lilith sits up and gives the gang a blank stare. As Grime sits up, the toad Captain began to panic as tears began to fall.
"I did it. I... set everything into motion. I' m a monster... I have killed everyone!" Grime starts panicking and hyperventilating.
"Grime, breathe." Eda said to the alarmed Grime.
She offers her hand to Grime, but he fearfully backs away. He then ran outside the house and ran away far from The Owl House with tears falling from his eyes.
"Grime!" Lilith cried as she tried to chase after him.
Yunan, Eda, Jasper and Hooty then come out of the house, looking worried for the Raven Lady.
"What the heck happened in there?" Yunan asked.
"Lily, what did you see?" Eda asked.
Lilith's expression worsens as she looks back towards the others regretfully, tears forming in her eyes. She then collapsed to her knees and began crying in fear and sadness. Whilst the four only watched on, feeling helpless.
