As the months went on, Raven's words never left Summers' mind. Even with Tai being in her life she began to have horrible dreams about Salem coming for Ruby in the dead of night and taking her away back to the hell hole she hides in. After, Ruby comes crawling back home with the eyes plucked from head, and her crying so loud it could pierce her ear drums. Tai had comforted her more than once when she woke up screaming from the nightmares.

Although she loved spending time with her family, those moments were also filled with paranoia. She always wondered if every moment would be the last before she came.

Despite this she kept going on Huntress missions for a few months, the war against Salem had to go on, and Oz needed her more than ever now since Raven was gone.

She loved being a huntress, but every time she was out her mind stayed at home worrying about Ruby. Tai was more than capable of defending himself, but what if someone stronger than him came? Or smarter? Or with a powerful semblance? Her fear consumed her to the point she started messing up missions she could normally do with her eyes shut.

Eventually she decided to stop going on missions and began spending all of her time at home.

It eventually got to the point where she couldn't handle it anymore, spending every waking moment worrying. Part of her wished Salem would come for Ruby that way Summer could get it over with and end her right then and there. Then it dawned on her, the solution. She would kill Salem before she could come for Ruby.

It made perfect sense in her head. Salem was the Queen of the Grimm and Summer had silver eyes, she was destined to destroy her.

Ozpin had told her that it normally takes him a decade to resurrect, so Salem would probably take around the same amount of time.

That gave Summer and Tai ten plus years to train her to be able to defend herself, and train Yang to help protect her.

Oz had always been weird about bringing the fight to her. He always had some well crafted excuse as to why they shouldn't. It never made sense to Summer, they knew where her base was. The northeastern continent of Fafnir, was the only continent without a civilization and it was crawling with Grimm, the perfect place for their Queen.

If Oz didn't want to help she would do it alone. She couldn't bring Tai or Qrow into this, she needed them to watch over the family if something went wrong.

.

A few weeks after she came up with her plan she met up with Qrow.

She had convinced him to come to her and Tai's house. It was the first time they spoke since her incident with his sister.

Summer stood high up on a tree branch where she could watch over the house. Qrows bird appeared next to her. She watched as the small animal transformed into a full grown man.

"What do you want, Summer?" Qrow said annoyed. "I thought you said it was urgent?" He looked around. "It doesn't look urgent.

When Summer first met Qrow at Beacon they got off to a rocky start to say the least. They made a lot of progress since then, but now it seemed like it was back to that again. "It is urgent. I need a favor." Summer said.

"A favor? I don't think you know what urgent means. And why would I help you after what you did to my sister?"

"It's less about me than it is my kids. Ruby specifically."

"What? You want me to babysit?" He said sarcastically.

"Something like that, yeah."

Qrow looked surprised. "I was joking. Why the hell would I babysit for you?"

"Listen, Qrow please!" Summer pleaded, turning to him. Qrow was taken back when he saw the dark spots around her eyes. "You alright Summer? You know eight hours of sleep is supposed to be daily not monthly right?

"I'm fine… actually that's a lie, but that's not important right now. Look, I'm gonna go on a mission, I'm not sure how long it will take. I just need you to make sure nothing happens to Ruby."

"Didnt realize Tai was so useless he couldn't even watch his own kid. And why would something happen to her?" Qrow asked, confused.

"Have you seen her eyes?" Summer answered plainly.

"Oh." He paused, looking down at the house.

"I'm sorry to ask, but I've been super paranoid recently. I just want there to be one extra person here, just in case."

"Where are you going anyway?" Qrow asked.

"Sorry, it's a secret."

He groaned. "Fine, I got nothing better to do anyway, but you owe me."

Summer turned to him relieved. She wrapped her hands around him gently "Thank you, Qrow."

"Just hurry back from whatever it is. I got my own jobs to do."

Summer smiled. "I'll be as quick as I can."

"I'm sorry to spring this on you at the last minute, Tai" Summer said to him. She was already in her huntress gear, ready to head out. Since Qrow had agreed to make sure nothing happened to Ruby, Summer felt at ease for the first time in a while.

Going up against Salem didn't worry her much. She was confident in her abilities, plus as long as she was sure she would win.

"Are you sure you're ready to go back out there?" Tai asked.

Summer hesitated. "I'll be fine. I got Qrow to help make sure nothing happens here, so I won't have to worry. I know nothing can stop you two together.

Tai looked surprised. "Qrow? He hates us!"

"He doesn't hate us, he's mad at us. He'll probably stay at a distance like he always does."

"Wait, does that mean you told Qrow before me?"

"I wasn't gonna go unless I got him to help." Tai looked upset. She thought about telling him the true nature of her mission, but she knew he wouldn't want her to go. He'd do everything he could to stop her from going, she didn't want to deal with that.

Summer leaned forward to kiss him. "I won't be long. I love you."

"Love you too." he said in a low voice. She ruffled his hair and pulled away to the living room.

Yang was on the couch waiting to say goodbye to Summer. Ruby was in a baby carrier on the couch.

Summer kneeled down as Yang ran to her and kissed her head. "Good luck, mom!" She said, "Bring me back something cool!"

"I will. Promise me you'll be a good sister to Ruby, okay." Yang shook her head. "I promise!"

Summer then turned to Ruby. She had no idea what was going on, Summer looked at her silver eyes for a moment before bending down and kissed her on the head as well. "I'll see you soon, Ruby." She whispered. Ruby just smiled and giggled.

Summer got up and headed out the door, she turned to take one last look at her beautiful family, waving goodbye to them one last time before she took off on what would be the worst mission of her life.
