Gwen was sitting on the couch with her brother watching TV with her little brother Dylan.
Gwen: this show sucks
Dylan: why are you so negative
Gwen: why are you so annoying
Dylan: why are so…so…
Gwen: so, what (said smugly)
Dylan: SHUT UP!
A seconds later a letter comes through the door's letter shoot so Gwen goes to see what it is.
Gwen: huh it looks like it's addressed to me
She opens the letter to find a contract, a plane ticket and a letter that said:
Dear Gwendolyn Harper
We are proud to announce that you out of all the hundreds of other teens you have specifically been picked to star in our new tv show Total Drama Island. Too officially participate please sign the contract to state that you are comfortable to be on TV and mail back before June 6th if not then you will not be able to compete and will be replaced. However, if you do however mail back then on June 23rd please arrive at your designated airport and board the plane to Toronto with the plane ticket provided, once there a limousine will be waiting for you to drop you off at a harbour where a yacht will take you to the island.

Gwen: this can't be real
Dylan: wow I didn't actually think they'd pick you, talk about unlucky
Gwen: whatever I'm not going anyway
She leaves the letter on the coffee table and walks to her room then her mother comes by and sees the letter and is overjoyed.
Later Gwen was in her room drawing on her sketchpad until her mother burst in with joy on her face.
Gwen: whatever happened to knocking
Gwen's Mother: oh, sweetie I'm so proud of you
Gwen: for what
Gwen's Mother: for being accepted to be on TV course (Gwen gulps)
Gwen: uhm mom…
Gwen's Mother: oh, I need to go tell everyone
Gwen was worried she didn't want to go on Total Drama Island but she didn't want to break her mom's heart.
