It was a cold winter's night. No one, or at least, nobody normal, would be awake at this hour. Except her. She sat there, in the dim lit room, a candle her only light. The bone-chilling sound of a blade across stone could be heard echoing in the night. She smirked… she knew tomorrow would be a fun night. More people to hear her song. More people to meet the 'Muffin man'… Konoha's worst fear.
The next day…
"Raaaaah!"
Naruto yawned as he awoke. He paused to stretch for a moment, then peered out his window. 'Great', he thought, 'Just what I need, a Winter thunderstorm'. True to his thoughts, thunder rumbled violently and his house shook. This was also bad because Kakashi had told them to be at the forest statue this morning, and he didn't have an umbrella. Scratching his back, he got up and shuffled into the kitchen. He stopped. He thought he'd heard a sound, no, a voice…singing? He strained his ears, listening for the sound again. Dismissing it as rain and wind, he sat down to a cup of bubbling hot ramen.
Outside, the girl smiled from her perch on a tree. Hopping silently to the ground, she hummed while stroking the knife within her coat. The fleeting sound could barely be heard, "…Do you know the Muffin Man…he lives on cherry lane…"
Later, at the forest statue…
Cold, forlorn, and the first to arrive, Naruto shivered under his refuge: A large tree with a large canopy. Under the deluge of the rain, for a moment, he thought he'd seen Sakura, or… at least, anyone at all. He was sure it was just a trick in the light…but then looked closer. He could just barely make out the figure, but it looked like a little girl… wearing a coat. 'No', he thought, 'I must be tired'. Shifting uncomfortably, he tried to relax, but something stopped him. The figure was gone! His heart pounded in his chest, his mind was going frantic! He froze. A presence. Right behind him. He wanted to run, but he couldn't; his legs were frozen stiff! As he began to stand up, something behind him cuffed him upside the head. He saw stars! Gasping for breath, Naruto slid down as he began to slip into darkness. Using the last of his strength, he tilted his head upward slightly to see who did it. The last thing he remembered was a girl smirking at him before he faded into oblivion…
Later, in a dark, silent room…
"OOooooooh…", Naruto groaned, his head throbbing. He tried to stand up, but something was constricting him. 'Ropes?..', he wondered. He tried to survey his surroundings. A darkly lit room, littered with various torture devices, as well as assassination weapons. Small tables, bloodstained walls, organs and appendages, and…
And her.
Sitting in a lone chair, his captor stared back at him. "Awake, are we?", she purred. Naruto whimpered. Who was she, what did she want? She giggled. Very disturbing. Her hand drifted into her coat. Naruto's eyebrows raised in fear as she withdrew a knife from said coat. It was now obvious ( How was it NOT obvious!) that she wanted him dead.
In an Ominous stride she paced towards him. Now quaking in fear, Naruto did expect what happened next. The girl started singing!
"Do you know the Muffin man, the Muffin man, the Muffin man? He lives on Cherry lane. And just like cherries, your blood is red. I'll feed off your pain…"
As her morbid melody came to an end, she raised the knife high above her head. Naruto's eyes wide, as if in a trance. The girl grinned like the Cheshire cat. Her lips moved slowly and silently, and if you listened closely you could hear her say:
"It'll all be over soon, my little Kyuubi-chan. Your going to see the muffin man."
