Chapter 8: Friendship, Love and Hate (Part 2)

This was going to be their first class in the potions lab and although Alex was a little nervous, Avery was the opposite, she was jumping with excitement.

Avery and Alex walk into the potions lab. Avery looks around extremely excited, pointing out the different ingredients and potions on the shelves.

Alex rolled his eyes as he put his things on the desk. -"You're so excited"- He chuckled as other students started to come in, but Severus hadn't arrived yet.

-"Of course! it's my favorite class, and it's taught by my favorite professor!"- Avery said, putting her things on her desk and putting her hair up, so she doesn't risk getting it in the cauldron.

Alex shrugged, and once he sat down in his seat Professor Snape walked in, closed the door with a wave of his wand and started the class immediately, making everyone take their places quickly.

Avery smiled when snape walked in and started taking notes and listening intently.

Alex wasn't very interested in potions, he wasn't bad at it as he sometimes helped Avery, but he preferred spells. He stared at Severus as his mind wandered to other things, it wasn't uncommon for him to withdraw from the real world from time to time, and more so when he wasn't very interested or just bored.

Avery kept nudging her brother to concentrate, she was very focused on this class, taking more notes than the other students and answering questions faster, giving the most correct answers compared to the other students.

Alex blinked rapidly as he snapped back to reality, he glanced at his sister before looking straight ahead again. Thanks to Avery he wasn't drawing attention to himself, all eyes were on her, but his eyes kept glancing at Severus thinking -'That man will really be our father and if so, how will we manage to find out without Albus ruining everything'- He snapped out of his thoughts with another nudge from his sister, realizing that the class was over. Quickly, he gathered his things and followed her to their next class, charms.

Severus watched the twins leave, he was really impressed by the amount of knowledge Avery had, she answered questions he didn't expect anyone to answer, he even asked her more advanced questions than they would see that year. The headaches wouldn't go away, he felt like he had to remember something, and they only got worse every time he saw the twins, he hadn't spoken to them again after the previous week, there was something about those kids that made him want to know more about them.

Avery looks around a little bored by the look of the charms classroom, but chuckles when she sees the professor, she has never seen someone like this before.

Alex sits down, he feels excited waiting for class to start, he takes out his wand and his spell textbook and his spell notebook while smiling.

Avery gets her things out and starts drawing on a random blank paper left by the person who sat there last period and the professor starts teaching with Alex taking extensive notes and Avery only taking notes when the professor tells them to write something down and barley not doing anything unless called on.

Alex writes happily until he feels a chill down his spine. Immediately, the door opens and Umbridge enters the classroom, for a moment Alex feels terrified and clutches her sister's arm.

Umbridge looks at the twins for a few seconds before going to speak to the professor.

Avery takes out her wand and points it at Umbridge's feet, making sure that she can't see her wand and very quietly mumbles a prank spell and Umbridge's shoes start walking in their own, and she quickly puts her wand away before Umbridge can see.

Alex hides his face in his sister's neck to avoid showing that he was giggling.

When Umbridge manages to get out of the spell, she looks at the whole class with a murderous look on her face.

Avery hugs her brother and takes out a vial of liquid luck from her potions bag and drinks it and puts it away -"Hey miss could you please leave, you're interrupting our lesson. If you need to talk to the professor, do it at lunch"- She said, feeling the potion working.

Umbridge glared at her before the professor spoke. -"She's right, I'll talk to you later, please get out of here"- Umbridge grumbled and walked out of the classroom.

Avery smiled to herself, and the professor continued the lesson.

Alex let go of his sister slowly as he took a deep breath to stop giggling.

The class continued normally until the professor dismissed the class, The twins had the next period free, so they each went off on their own, or rather Avery ran out of the classroom leaving Alex alone.

{Alex's POV}

Alex sighed when he realized he wouldn't find his sister, after walking around the castle not knowing what to do, he decided to go to the astronomy tower, during his night class he loved the view so much he decided to go up. He held his spell notebook against his chest. He smiled broadly as he looked at the wide landscape. He sat down on the ground and began to write and practice his spells. He was concentrating so hard that he gave a little jump when he heard footsteps behind him.

Blaise walked to Alex and sat down -"Pretty view isn't it?"-

Alex turned his head feeling nervous to see Blaise, -"Oh, hello, yes, it is very pretty"-

Blaise sat closer to Alex -"What are you doing?"- He asked smiling at him.

Alex shows him his notebook. - "I'm thinking of a new spell, I came up with it after Umbridge visit to my class"-

Blaise looks at Alex -"Umbridge is violent, so you have to be careful with her"- He said worried.

-"I know, she's really scary, just by looking at her, I know she's dangerous, so it's better to be prepared to defend myself against her or at least run away from her"- Alex nodded.

Blaise sighed and hugged him- "Just don't hurt yourself"- He said, he felt something special for this boy since he came to the dormitory, although he didn't like him at first, he felt the need to be next to him and protect him.

Alex blushed intensely, but he hugged him back. -"Okay, after all I don't like getting hurt"- He tried not to stammer, only his sister used to hug him, it was weird for someone else to do it.

Blaise smiled and rubbed his back. -"That's good"-

Alex felt relaxed, and unconsciously rested his head on Blaise's shoulder. This was new to him, he only felt this way with his sister, but why now he felt this way with Blaise.

Blaise blushes and smiles - "Comfortable?"- He says, chuckling softly.

Alex nods his head. -"Yeah, a little"- He looked out at the landscape, the first night he went up there he thought two things, that the stars were very pretty from there and would it hurt if he jumped off the tower, or would he die instantly? Those kinds of thoughts were normal for him, it was more frequent when something bad had happened, remembering how he would stare at windows or cars, wondering what if it would hurt if he died from throwing for it or being run over by it, but since he got there only that night he had thought about that, now he saw the landscape and only thought about how beautiful it was.

Blaise smiled, -"Do you want to sit here and rant about your spells?"- He asked, realizing the boy wouldn't say anything of his own volition.

Alex smiles broadly, looking away from the landscape and looking at Blaise, -"I'd love to, I like to talk about my spells"-

-"Then go on, I like to listen to you"- Blaise said quietly.

Alex slowly pulls back to look at his notebook. –"Well, like I told you, I thought of a spell to defend myself against Umbridge, so I came up with a spell that I caused hallucinations"-

Blaise nodded -"I know you can do that considering all your other spells. However, A hallucination spell would be useful though"- He said.

Alex nodded. -"Yes, but I'm still working on it, the spell has to be strong enough to keep the person hallucinated for a certain period of time, but the timing is the hard part, if I do it wrong the person would never be able to come out of that hallucination"-

Blaise nodded -"Right, right…did you know that only powerful witches and wizards can create spells?"- He said smiling.

Alex looks at him incredulously and then laughs softly. -"That's impossible, creating spells is easy, I'm not a powerful wizard"-

-" I'm being serious, only powerful people can make spells"- Blaise said.

Alex looks at him, still in disbelief. –"But, but, I've been thinking of new spells since I was five, and I started creating them when I was eight"-

Blaise smiled -"So? It's still a fact. Only powerful wizards can create spells"-

Alex bit his lip. -"Even so, I don't think I'm a powerful wizard, but if you say so"-

Blaise chuckled, -"Well, you are"-

Alex nods his head. -"Okay"- He says softly as he looks down at his notebook.

Blaise held Alex in his arms, rubbed his back gently and smiled to himself.

Alex blushes and hugs Blaise. He couldn't remember ever feeling this way, not even with Avery, she used to say nice things about him, but he knew Avery did it to make him feel good, not because she really meant it. This comfort made him feel a little sleepy, he yawns. -"You're going to make me fall asleep here"-

Blaise smiles, rubs his back gently and pulls him closer to his chest, I try to make him relax more - "Then go to sleep if you want, I don't care"- He says in a calming tone.

Alex nods -"Okay"- He closes his eyes and falls asleep on Blaise's shoulder; he cuddled close to Blaise happily as he slept.

Blaise smiled and hummed a song, he had never sung in front of anyone, but since he was asleep and thought singing to him would help him sleep better, but decided to wait until he was sure he was asleep. He began to sing a little softly when he heard the lunch bell.

Alex has woken up a while later, he didn't sleep much, but he has decided to stay where he was, he likes to listen to his humming, and he felt so comfortable. He smiled when he heard him singing, opening his eyes slightly.

Blaise finished the song; he looks over at Alex and realizes that Alex is awake and blushes.

Alex opens his eyes wide and looks at him. -"Hey, you sing so beautiful, don't stop"-

Blaise nodded, he didn't dare to say anything, he had never sung to anyone, he kept singing blushing.

Alex hummed the rhythm of Blaise's song. Avery used to sing lullabies to him, but this was different, Blaise's voice was beautiful. His stomach started to growl, but he didn't speak until Blaise finished his song -" I'm a little hungry, shall we go eat?"- He said as he pulled away.

Blaise nodded, he also pulled away and stood up -"Yeah, let's go"-

Alex stands up and takes Blaise's hand, and together they leave the astronomy tower towards the Great Hall.

{Avery's POV}

Avery decided to sneak into the next potions class in her free period, she was so excited to continue watching classes with Snape that she completely forgot about Alex. She sat in the back, writing down any notes she didn't get last time.

Pansy also used to sneak into Professor Snape's classes, so she could get extra points, being better prepared, when she saw Avery walk in, she went to sit next to her.

Avery looked over and sees Pansy and leans on her shoulder, "Hi, pan-pan "She whispers to Pansy softly, she had only known her for a week, but she felt so like with her and ever since the meltdown Alex had in the Great Hall, she knew she felt something special for her.

Pansy bites her lip to keep from laughing. - "pan-pan, I like it"- She spoke softly so as not to disrupt the class.

Avery looked over and seeing that they weren't bothering anyone, she cuddles into it a little.

Pansy puts her arm around Avery's shoulders and pulls her closer to her.

Avery smiles and blushes -"Comfortable..."- She mumbles getting sleepy, she hadn't slept well and besides she woke up very early, feeling so comfortable with Pansy the tiredness took over her body.

Pansy blushes slightly. -"If you're tired, why don't we go back to the dorm and sleep for a while?"- She didn't want to be away from her now.

-"Ok then, let's go pan-pan"- Avery said getting up unwillingly and puts her stuff away and grabs Pansy's hand and holds it gently -"Come on get up"- She gestures towards the door.

Pansy chuckles and gets up and leads Avery out of the classroom and into the dormitory.

Avery goes into the dorm and lies down on the bed and mumbles -"You can lay with me if you want, pan-pan"- She was tired and wanted to hug someone.

Pansy laughs -"I had already planned to do that anyway"- She lies down next to her and pulls her close to her chest.

Avery cuddled into her and smiles, -"Thank you, pan-pan"- She says softly before falling peacefully asleep. She hugs Pansy as she sleeps.

Pansy watched her for several minutes until she couldn't stand to sleep and fell asleep holding her against her.

After a while the bell rang, and it was time for lunch.

After a while Avery wakes up, sees that Pansy is asleep, and she cuddles her more and plays with her hair gently.

Pansy wakes up a few moments later and looks at Avery, sleepily. -"Hey"- She smiles at her.

-"Hey, Pan-pan"- Avery smiles back, still playing with her hair.

Pansy stretches. -"There's nothing better than a nap, did you sleep well?"-

-"The best I've slept in a while "- Avery says, smiling at Pansy.

Pansy chuckles. -"I'm glad, it was the same for me, I slept great."

Avery blushes and smiles -"Then we might have to do that more often if that's making us sleep so well"-

Pansy blushes and laughs. -"Well, we're roommates, so we can sleep together a lot"- She offered.

Avery nods and smiles softly at Pansy -"So I guess we'll sleep together then, huh?"- She said blushing at the thought of sleeping with Pansy every night, so much to now her blushing was noticeable. She rubbed Pansy's back softly smiling -"I wish we could stay like this all day"- She mumbled to herself putting Pansy's head in her lap and touched her hair humming a song.

Pansy giggles at her blush, she never thought she'd end up with her head against the lap of a girl younger than her. -"Well, I'd like to too, but we still have to eat, and I have classes later"-

-"I wish we didn't"- Avery said with a sigh.

Pansy let out a giggle and stroked Avery's hair, enjoying all the time she could with her.

Avery blushed more and smiled softly and stared into her eyes and mumbles. -"Such pretty eyes"-

Pansy blushes and looks away. -"Thank you, you're very pretty"- She ran her hand over her cheek.

Avery let out a small giggle and smiled -"Thank you, Pan-pan"- She said, blushing a little. She really appreciated those words, Lily always told her that she should be pretty and act feminine, but Pansy already saw a side that she never showed at home and still called her pretty and wanted to be with her.

Pansy strokes her hair, her stomach was growling, and it was annoying her -"Although I love lying here with you, I am hungry, let's go get something to eat"- She smiles at her.

Avery smiles back -"Alright, let's go pan-pan"- She said, getting off the bed and grabbing her hand and they both walked towards the Great Hall.
