"Wow! Daddy's really mad," Caroline exclaimed.

"Daddy had a fight with Don," Lyla said to Catherine and Caroline.

"Oh, my Gosh...I didn't want them to fight, I just want to live in peace," Catherine said to Caroline.

"Are you crazy, Dad? Do you know how much that sound costs?" Don said to Steve.

"Pack your bags, you're moving in with your Aunt Mary. If you don't want to live near your family, then go live far away from us."

"What? I don't want to go live with Aunt Mary," Don replied.

"I didn't ask if you want to go, I said you will," Steve replied snidely. Don had crossed every line. Steve left the room and slammed the door hard. Catherine entered the house with the girls and found Steve in the living room.

"He's going to live with Mary," Steve told them and pointed up toward Don's room.

"Stay calm Steve," Catherine urged him.

"I am calm, Catherine. Who says I'm nervous?" Steve ran his hand across his face showing how angry he was.

"I'm going to lie down for a while," Catherine told him. She was annoyed by the tone of his voice.

"Okay, Cath."

Catherine went into the bedroom and Lyla went with her. "I'll take care of you, Mommy."

Catherine held her hand. "Thank you, dear."

Catherine sat up in bed and was pensive. She was wondering if it had been a mistake to have moved in with Steve. "He probably didn't even want to have another child," she thought as she stroked her belly. He was angry with Don, but she knew that he really didn't want to send his son to Mary's house and maybe he was blaming her for the family crisis. Catherine quickly dried a tear that ran down her cheek so that Lyla would not see it.

Steve sat on the front porch of the house and called Mary and laid out everything that was going on with his family. "I need your help, Mary. Catherine is in late pregnancy and I want her to have peace until the baby is born, but so far that seems like an impossible thing."

"Ok. I will help you, Steve. Don has a good relationship with Joan and me and it will be good to have him around for a while."

"I thank you, Mary. Give him some advice, maybe he'll listen to you."

"I'll try, Steve."

Catherine lay on the bed and Lyla sat on the bed next to her as she played with her phone.

"Don't drop my phone on the floor, honey."

"Okay, Mommy," Lyla replied as she ran her little fingers across the phone screen. "Mommy, are we going to have a Christmas tree?"

"Of course we will, honey. It's still a long time until Christmas, but we're definitely going to do it," Catherine told her.

"It's going to look so pretty, Mommy!" Lyla celebrated and kissed Catherine's cheek.

"Yes," Catherine replied and stroked Lyla's hair.

"Will Liz like the Christmas tree, Mommy?"

"Absolutely, Lyla. By Christmas Liz will be here with us."

"Santa will bring Liz a present too!"

"Yes, she will bring presents for all the children who have been obedient that year."

"I was obedient, wasn't I mommy?"

Catherine smiled and pulled her into a hug. "You're a sweetheart, Lyla. Santa is very happy that you are such a lovely little girl. What do you want to get for Christmas, dear?"

"I don't know," Lyla replied.

"Then think about it, tell me, and I'll tell Santa."

Don was upset with Steve and the whole family. He left the room and went to sit on the edge of the beach. He was assessing what his life with Mary would be like when a little dog approached him. "Hey!" Don stroked the puppy's head.

"Rufus!" A girl emerged from Lidia's yard looking for the puppy.

"Hi, so his name is Rufus?" Don asked her.

"Hi. Yes, his name is Rufus. I'm sorry for trespassing in your yard."

"No problem. Are you new to the neighborhood? I don't know you," Don told her.

"Yes, my brother and I came to live with my father and stepmother," she pointed to the Lidia's house. "By the way, my name is Maggie." She held out her hand to Don and he stood up and greeted her. "I'm Don."

"Just Don?" she asked and smiled.

"Just Don," he replied and smiled as well. Don thought she was very pretty and nice, and Maggie also thought he was a handsome boy. They talked for a few minutes and found out that she was going to study at the same school where Don studied.

"Maggie!" They heard Lidia call out to her.

"I have to go. I'll see you at school," she told Don and called to the puppy. "Come on Rufus!"

"Nice to meet you," he spoke as she ran towards her house. She just looked back and smiled.

At dinnertime, Catherine didn't want to come downstairs and stayed in her room. Steve brought dinner to her on a tray. "Hey, I brought dinner."

"I'm not hungry, Steve." She continued lying down.

"Why? Because you are upset or because the baby is about to be born?" Steve asked.

"Don said some very harsh things to me," she replied.

"He's going to move in with Mary," Steve sat on the bed and put his hand on her belly.

"I know you don't really want to send him to Mary's house," Catherine told him.

Steve sighed, "I don't want to, but I have to". He put his head against her belly and felt a kick from Liz. "Hey baby! What? Mommy didn't give you any lunch or dinner?' Daddy will fix it, okay?" Steve kissed Catherine's belly affectionately. "Daddy's waiting for you out here anxiously".

"Well, Liz is hungry. I think you'd better sit down to dinner," Steve said to Catherine.

Catherine sat down and Steve placed the tray on the bed. He kissed her gently before getting up. "I love you both."

"We love you too," she replied.
