Doubts
She stood in front of the mirror, looking at her reflection in its silver glow. Her dress flowed down to the floor, shimmering cream satin embroidered with magical symbols in a subtle gold thread. It hugged her upper body, then flared out from her hips to fall in gentle folds. The neckline is modest, but shows her curves, feminine and shapely. The girl sighs, and holds her hands in front of her. The diamond of her engagement ring sparkles at her, reminding her of the event happening in ten minutes, but she makes no move to go and stand in place ready.
Hearing the door open, she smiles at the petite redhead who enters.
"Hi, Ginny." Hermione turned, her dress sweeping out around her. She stepped away from the mirror, and sat down in front of the dressing table.
Her best friend and maid of honour came and stood beside her, looking down at the ring on Hermione's hand as well.
"Hermione, you're shaking!" Ginny was shocked, and told her friend so.
"Hermione, you can face a three headed dog, Snape, murderous Death Eaters, the Dark Lord Voldemort and my brother angry without blinking, but you can't take getting married to the man you love?" Ginny was incredulous. Hermione had surprised her before, with her unwavering strength, determination and the ability to read no matter what the atmosphere, but never like this.
"I know." Replied Hermione, never taking he eyes off her engagement ring. "It's ridiculous, and irrational, and silly, and… well, lots of other things too. But I am shaking, and I can't stop."
"Well, you should just go and do it. I was scared when I married Neville, but once I was standing by him, I was fine. Just go." Ginny gave Hermione a push towards the door. Sighing, the brunette stood, and slowly walked out of the room.
Ginny followed, making sure Hermione wasn't going to run away, and helped her down the stairs.
Once inside the grand hall with all the guests, Hermione had another fit of nerves. This time she stood tall and pushed them to the back of her mind. She walked down the aisle, smiling at all the guests that had come to see her wedding – Professor McGonagall, Hagrid, all her old year mates from Hogwarts.
Upon reaching the end of the aisle she stopped, and turned to face the groom. She lifted her head to look him in the eyes, and thought:
"Damn, Ginny's right again!" All her worries and doubts had gone, leaving her with a sense of rightness, that this was the most natural thing to do, marry the man she loves.
The groom smiles, and pokes her gently.
"Hermione?" He whispers, "Are you ready?" Taking one last look at Ginny, who gives her a thumbs up sign, she turns and smiles at him, her love.
"Never been more ready for anything in my life, Harry" Hermione Granger and Harry Potter stand side by side, as always, and makes sure everyone in the hall knows how deeply their love runs.
