This is so far the longest chapter I've written for this fanfic. Once you're done reading it, if you thought it was too long, tell me so, and maybe I'll try to make any upcoming chapter shorter than that. But if you thought the length was fine, tell me that as well and I may continue to make chapters of similar length if necessary.
Chapter 10: Planes, Trains and Explosives
After what felt like an eternity, John opened his eyes and noticed Shayera looking over him, as he was lying on the floor while she was kneeling next to him.
"Are you alri…?" she began to ask.
She didn't have the time to finish her question before he sat up and pulled her into a hug. Hawkgirl was taken aback by that, with her chin resting on Green Lantern's right shoulder.
"Hum… John?"
The bald man stopped hugging her before they stood up. Suddenly, things were a bit awkward between the two.
"Sorry…" John began to say. "I sometimes get worried about the safety of those close to me." He then looked a bit nervous before adding the following. "And by close, I mean close friends, you know?"
The Thanagarian smirked at what he said.
"Yeah, I know." She replied.
Meanwhile, agents from the Central Bureau of Intelligence were there to arrest Giganta. They used special, high-tech bonds that would prevent her from growing back into a giantess again. At this moment, Wonder Woman was talking to a grey-haired man who was wearing a greyish-blue vest, a white long-sleeved shirt, a black tie, black pants and black shoes. His name is King Faraday, one of the secret agents working for the CBI.
"Something tells me the Louvre's grand opening was nowhere near as chaotic as what happened to your museum today, Mrs. Prince." Faraday said to her.
"Thank you for arriving in time before Giganta could wake up, Agent Faraday." Wonder Woman said to him.
"Do you have any idea why she attacked you?" the grey-haired man asked her. "I mean, I know you have a history with her, but there probably is a specific reason other than revenge for every time you sent her to jail."
"I didn't exactly have the time to interrogate her while we were fighting."
"Well, she's still unconscious, but we'll interrogate her when she'll wake up. And if our lie detector doesn't work on her, don't be surprised if we ask you to come with yours." He said while pointing at the Amazon's lasso of truth.
"Of course." The black-haired woman said, nodding at that.
"By the way, I've heard that you and your friends have been hanging out with certain cartoon characters. And as I can see, it is true." Faraday said while turning his head towards Lola, who was standing next to a vending machine.
"There's no point in me lying to you about it." She said. "But what are you getting at to be exact?"
"What I'm getting at is that the government may want to investigate over this and even go so far as to do some experiments, including some dissection on the Looney Tunes if they ever get their hands on them. You should make sure everything is in control for them, or else that could happen." The secret agent said.
Wonder Woman turned her head towards Lola, still standing next to the vending machine.
"Hmm… Should I buy some chips or a chocolate bar?" the rabbit wondered out loud before sighing. "Life is filled with hard decisions."
The superheroine turned her head back to look at Faraday.
"I can guarantee you the Justice League won't let the government do any harm to them." She said, with her face showing a lot of determination.
"I hope so. Considering how beloved they are, I don't think the rest of the world would want to see that happen either. I'll try to keep the government off your back, but I can't make any promise." The grey-haired man said before turning around and about to leave. He then turned his head around and saluted Wonder Woman before saying "Goodbye, Mrs. Prince." and leaving with all the other agents.
As the Amazon looked at the agents leaving, Lola arrived next to her, holding a bag of chips and a chocolate bar.
"I didn't know which one to choose, so I picked both. Here, you can take either the chips or the bar." The rabbit said to the superheroine.
The latter smiled before taking the chocolate bar.
"Thank you, Lola." Diana said.
Right at this moment, Hawkgirl and Green Lantern arrived next to the Amazon and the rabbit.
"We should probably help the museum staff clean up this mess." The bald man said while looking at the destruction caused by the fight.
"That's for certain. But first, I'm going to look for Julia and Vanessa, just to make sure they're both alright." Wonder Woman said before using her flight ability in order to look all around the museum.
Several minutes later, she came back next to Lola and the other two Justice Leaguers. "So, where are they?" Hawkgirl asked.
"That's the problem. I can't find them anywhere." The Amazon said, worried.
"Maybe you should call them. Vanessa does have her cellphone on her." John suggested.
"I would, but I don't have any cellphone."
"Oh, just take mine." Lola said while summoning a cellphone from her pocket and giving it to Wonder Woman.
"Thanks." The latter said before dialing Vanessa's phone number.
Suddenly, they heard a buzzing noise coming from under the vending machine. Lola walked up to it, kneeled down, put her arm underneath it, and pulled back Vanessa's cellphone.
"Okay, I'm getting worried here." Shayera said, which was a feeling shared by both Diana and John.
"Well, maybe it's just someone else's cellphone that just so happens to look like the one belonging to Vanessa." The rabbit said, trying to reassure them.
Wonder Woman took the found cellphone, tapped on a button, and noticed something that made it impossible for her worried face to disappear. She showed what appeared on the cellphone's screen, which was the same selfie that Vanessa took with Lola earlier on.
"I spoke too soon." Lola said, becoming just as worried as everyone else.
"Mrs. Prince!"
All four of them turned around and saw Mr. Rucka holding a USB key with a note that said 'For WW'.
"One of our security agents found this on a table at the café." He said.
The four heroes were concerned by that, not liking the sound of it.
A few minutes later, they found a computer at the museum and used it to check what was on the USB key. On it, they found a video and clicked on it to make it play. The video began with both Julia and Vanessa trapped inside a glass tube in some unknown location. Both Kapatelis were scared, which caused the superheroes and the rabbit to continue being worried. Soon enough, someone else appeared in front of the glass tube. It was a woman with long auburn hair and brown eyes. However, what made her stand out from any other woman was the fact she had orange fur and black spots over her body, claws on her hands and feet, and a tail. Upon her sight, Wonder Woman was downright furious.
"Cheetah!" the Amazon angrily exclaimed.
"Let me guess: another person she's not on good terms with." Lola whispered to Hawkgirl, with the latter simply nodding.
"Hello, Wonder Woman." The orange-furred woman, AKA Cheetah, said in the video with a British accent while smirking evilly. "I'm sure right now that you're not pleased to see your friends in my presence. I certainly owe you an explanation."
The heroes listened carefully, with Diana glaring daggers at her long-time nemesis.
"You see, I hired Giganta to fight you at the museum to serve as a distraction in order for me to kidnap these two." Cheetah began to explain. "She was more than happy to assist me, as any excuse to fight you was always a good one. With all the visitors panicking in the museum, nobody noticed that I was able to knock out your friends with tranquilizer darts. I brought them to this place, whose location will remain a secret for the time being, and put them inside this glass tube. No sound can come out of this tube, so they cannot scream for help or reveal to you where we are right now. And once I'm done with recording this video, one of my employees will bring it to your museum, and hopefully you'll be able to watch it. But what could I possibly want in exchange of letting your friends go?" she asked,
The feline woman started to stroke her chin and pretend to be pondering. She then smiled sinisterly and briefly raised her index finger in the air.
"Oh! I know! How about that lasso of yours? Sounds like a fair trade, doesn't it?" the villainess rhetorically asked before talking in a more serious tone. "Leave it at the Lincoln Memorial. One of my employees will get it and you better not stop him from bringing it to me. You have until 5:00 PM. If your lasso is not in my hands before that time, well, I think you already know what's gonna happen to them." She said before sliding her index finger against her throat and making the appropriate sound with her mouth. "Have a nice day, Princess." She added while waving at the camera and smiling evilly.
The video ended. Wonder Woman was filled with rage, to the point where she would have destroyed the computer already if she didn't put so much effort into restraining herself from doing so. She sighed as she rested her hands against the desk where the computer was.
"She'll never change. It always comes back to this." Diana said.
"It always comes back to what?" Lola asked, confused.
The Amazon turned her head towards the rabbit before answering the latter's question.
"This is far from the first time Cheetah has been trying to get her hands on the Lasso of Truth. She's obsessed with it. Partly to put it in her collection of rare artifacts. Partly so that she can use it and get what she wants by forcing people to reveal their secrets." She explained.
"So… it's kinda like if she was Sylvester and your lie-detecting rope was Tweety, right?" the rabbit asked.
"It's… an odd analogy, but I guess it's sorta like that." Green Lantern said.
"Giving her the Lasso of Truth would be terrible. But the well-being of Julia and Vanessa is more important." Diana solemnly said.
"Am I the only one who noticed that Julia was constantly blinking her eyes in some sort of pattern?" Hawkgirl said while pointing at the video.
Intrigued by what the Thanagarian said, Wonder Woman played the video back from the beginning after clicking on the mute button (because she did not need to hear Cheetah's voice again). All four heroes looked at the background and, indeed, Julia was constantly blinking her eyes in what seemed to be a specific way. Sometimes, she would blink both eyes. Other times, she would blink only one eye at a time. She would also blink the same eye several times in a row. Eventually, the Amazon realized what was going on.
"She's communicating through Morse code!" she exclaimed before playing the video back from the beginning once again and watching carefully to make sure she would completely understand Julia's message.
Near the end of the video, the middle-aged woman stopped blinking her eyes. Diana's own eyes widened as she figured out the message.
"She said 'We're…" the Amazon began to say.
"…at the Grand Lightning Train'." Lola finished.
Immediately, the three superheroes all arched an eyebrow at the rabbit.
"You know Morse code?" Wonder Woman asked.
"Yeah, it was part of a bet I made with Daffy a while ago." The Looney Tune replied. "I betted him I could learn Morse code, and he in turn betted he could become a great flute player. I won my side of the bet, but he lost his when he received a court order forbidding him from ever playing the flute again because his performance always caused nightmares to everyone in town, preventing them from sleeping."
"Wow. And here I thought Booster Gold was a pretty bad piano player." John said, causing Shayera to shudder in disgust at the last time she heard Booster Gold, a fellow member of the Justice League who time-travelled from the future, playing piano.
"But… what's the Grand Lightning Train?" Lola asked.
"It used to be one of the fastest trains in the world." Diana explained. "But it was replaced by another train that's more modern and efficient. Since then, it's been abandoned before they could completely disassemble it. It's in a place that's not too far from where we are."
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go there and make Cheetah regret her decisions." Hawkgirl said, ready to get into action.
Suddenly, she heard some noise coming from her ear communicator and proceeded to respond to it.
"What is it, J'onn?" she asked and listened to what the Martian said before looking concerned. "Wait, right now?" she asked before listening and finally sighing. "Fine, we'll take care of this."
The Thanagarian turned her attention towards Green Lantern.
"J'onn said that Weather Wizard has been spotted in Virginia. In Richmond, to be exact. Given what he's able to do, J'onn suggested that at least two of us should handle him."
"You two can deal with Weather Wizard." Diana said to Hawkgirl and Green Lantern. "I'll take care of Cheetah."
Her fellow Justice Leaguers nodded before flying away and leaving the museum. Wonder Woman was about to leave as well, only to be stopped when Lola grabbed her by the knee.
"Hey, wait up! I wanna help you with this." The rabbit said.
The superheroine looked hesitantly at the cartoon character.
"Listen, I admire your desire to help." Diana said. "But this is a very serious matter. If anything were to happen to either Julia or Vanessa, I would never forgive myself." She said with the most serious tone in her voice.
Lola let what the black-haired woman said sink in before sighing.
"I get what you're saying… but I'm sure I can help you. I mean, Cheetah never had to deal with me or any of the other Looney Tunes before. My personal skills certainly would surprise her." She said.
The Amazon sighed before kneeling down.
"Alright. You can come with me. But don't clown around too much."
"I'll do my best."
They both nodded at each other before Lola hopped onto Wonder Woman's back and hung onto her shoulders. This was then followed by the two of them leaving the museum with the Amazon using her ability to fly.
In a mountainous region, the Grand Lightning Train was located on some railway. The train in question only consisted of two passenger wagons and one locomotive. The passenger wagons were completely devoid of passenger seats, as those were removed before the train was abandoned there. In the wagon that was the furthest from the locomotive, there was the glass tube, which still had Julia and Vanessa kept captive in it. Cheetah was nearby, sitting on a chair, reading a book about archeology, and resting her feet on a crate. The Kapatelis, sitting on the floor, were worried about what was going to happen.
"Mom… I'm scared." Vanessa said.
"So am I, Nessie. But Diana won't let anything horrible happen to us." Her mother said, trying to comfort her.
Suddenly, the wagon started to shake so violently that Cheetah tipped over backwards from her chair. She groaned as she stood up, having a bad feeling about this. Soon after, the door at the back of the wagon was teared off by Wonder Woman using her bare hands. The superheroine entered the wagon alongside Lola, with the former glaring at the villainess. At first, the latter glared back at the Amazon, only to look confused upon noticing the rabbit who was nearby.
"Since when do you hang out with cartoon characters?" Cheetah asked.
"Pretty recently." Diana replied, still glaring at her archenemy.
She looked at the glass tube and saw the Kapatelis inside of it before looking back at the feline woman.
"Either you let them go or I'm gonna force you to do so the hard way. Choose wisely." Wonder Woman said in a threatening tone.
Cheetah snarled before turning said snarl into a smirk.
"You know what? I thought I was going to succeed this time. But there was a part of me who knew there was a very slight chance that you would figure out where I was. So, not taking any chance, I decided to call on some backup." She said before whistling with her fingers.
The door that led to the next wagon soon opened, revealing the presence of someone else. It was a young African-American woman with a black afro. She was wearing a purple top, purple pants, purple shoes, and a purple hairband. Her left eye was cybernetic, while her right eye was brown. Also, her right arm had an arm cannon. She and Wonder Woman both glared at each other, indicating this wasn't the first time they met. But like Cheetah less than a minute ago, the African-American woman was confused upon seeing Lola.
"Okay, what the hell's going on!? Am I in a remake of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, or what!?" the woman with a cybernetic eye asked in disbelief.
"Hi! My name is Lola Bunny!" the rabbit said, waving her hand at the newcomer. "What's your name?"
The African-American came back to her senses before smirking evilly.
"You can call me… Cyborgirl." She replied.
"Oh, you're one of the Teen Titans, right?"
Cyborgirl was taken aback by the question before frowning.
"No, I'm not Cyborg!" she angrily exclaimed. "Do I look like a dude to you?!"
"Hey, calm down! I've seen some people mistaking me for Babs Bunny, but I don't make a big deal out of it." Lola said, trying to calm the cyborg woman down.
"You're getting on my nerves." Cyborgirl said before shooting an electrical blast towards Lola.
Immediately, Wonder Woman came in front of the rabbit and used her shield to prevent the blast from hitting its target. The Amazon kept walking towards Cyborgirl while using her shield against any electrical blast the cyborg woman would shoot at her. At this moment, Lola noticed that Cheetah was too busy looking at the fight to pay attention to her. The rabbit grinned as she got an idea. She started tiptoeing towards the feline woman, hoping to pull a surprise attack on her. However, just before Lola could pull the attack, the British woman sensed her thanks to her enhanced senses, turned around, grabbed the rabbit by the ears, and threw her at the wall on the right. The cartoon character was once again flattened like a pancake. She managed to unstuck herself and fall on the floor. After coming back to her usual shape, Lola looked around and, much to her surprise, Cheetah was nowhere to be found. She then rested her right hand against the crate that the feline woman used earlier to rest her feet.
"And here I thought Batman was the only one who could pull off the old vanishing trick." The rabbit commented. "Where could she be now?"
What she was unaware was that, while Lola was stuck on the wall, while Wonder Woman was busy fighting Cyborgirl, and while the Kapatelis were preoccupied by the fight between their friend and the cyborg woman, Cheetah took this opportunity to quickly hide herself inside the crate. Smirking evilly, she took a remote that was inside the crate and pressed on a button. This caused the train to suddenly start moving, causing everyone else except Cyborgirl to be surprised by that.
"It's still functioning?" Wonder Woman asked out loud.
"Let's just say that Cheetah is full of resources." Cyborgirl said, smirking evilly. "And that's on top of the paycheck she'll give me once I'm done with you!"
The latter once again shot an electrical blast to the superheroine, who once again blocked it with her shield. What Diana didn't see coming, however, was the punch in the face that the cyborg woman gave to her, sending her a few feet away. The villainess ran towards her opponent. Unfortunately for the former, the Amazon used her feet to kick her away, sending her into the other wagon. After standing up, she noticed that there was a keyboard on the glass tube, which likely required a password.
"Lola!" she exclaimed to the rabbit. "Find the password that will free Julia and Vanessa!" she added before running into the other wagon.
Lola looked at the glass tube and noticed the keyboard on it. She approached it and noticed the Kapatelis observing her.
"Don't worry, you two. I'm sure I'll find the magic word." The rabbit said before stroking her chin, pondering. "Hmm… What could it be?"
Suddenly, she was interrupted in her thought process by the sound of two people fighting. She turned around and noticed that both Wonder Woman and Cyborgirl were back in this wagon, with the cyborg woman on top of the Amazon and the latter struggling to prevent the former from punching her.
"Hey! Ask her if she knows the name of Cheetah's pet goldfish!" Lola shouted to Diana.
The latter then punched Cyborgirl, sending the latter back into the other wagon again before the superheroine flew back into it.
"Geez, I bet she didn't listen to what I said." The rabbit said, annoyed before turning her attention back to the keyboard. "Alright. Think, Lola. Think. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out. Maybe the password is 'feline'."
She spelled the word 'feline' on the keyboard, but it wasn't the right answer.
"Password incorrect." A robotic voice said from the keyboard.
"Okay… Maybe it's 'I hate Wonder Woman' in this case." She said.
Lola spelled the sentence on the keyboard, only to get the same answer.
"Password incorrect."
"Oh, geez…" the rabbit said, getting frustrated.
In the other wagon, Wonder Woman and Cyborgirl continued their fight. The latter kept shooting electrical blasts at the former, who continued to use her shield against them. Suddenly, the cyborg woman aimed at the ceiling and created a hole by shooting at it. She then jumped high enough to go through the roof. Intrigued by that, Diana grabbed the edge of the hole and took a peek. She immediately ducked in the nick of time when Cyborgirl shot at her. This was followed by the Amazon jumping out of the hole and joining her opponent on top of the wagon. The African-American woman shot a white sound blast at the Amazon, who blocked it with her shield again.
"You keep hiding behind that shield." Cyborgirl said, annoyed. "What are you, a coward?!"
Frowning at that remark, Wonder Woman put back her shield on her back and got into a fighting stance, determined.
"I don't need it to knock some sense into you, LeTonya." The superheroine said, referring to the villainess' real name, LeTonya Charles.
The cyborg woman smirked evilly before shooting multiple times at the Amazon. The latter used her speed to be able to dodge each blast as much as she could. Unfortunately, she was unable to dodge one of them and ended up on her back on top of the wagon behind her. Cyborgirl jumped onto the wagon in question and tackled Diana before aiming her arm cannon at her.
"Not so though without your shield, are you?" the villainess rhetorically asked, mocking her opponent.
Glaring at the cyborg woman, the superheroine kicked her opponent in the stomach with her knee before punching her hard enough to send her back to the top of the other wagon. Wonder Woman returned to that other wagon and tackled Cyborgirl into the hole, going back inside the wagon.
Meanwhile, Lola was having a hard time trying to figure out the password.
"Ugh! Why does it have to be so hard?!" she exclaimed before smashing her forehead against the keyboard.
"Password incorrect." The same robotic voice said.
"Oh, shut up!" the rabbit exclaimed before sighing. "Okay… Maybe I should think outside of the box."
Suddenly, an idea came to her as she grinned, indicated by having a lightbulb appear out of nowhere above her head.
"Of course! I'm a Looney Tune after all!" she exclaimed before putting her right hand inside her pocket and found a dynamite stick, with the lightbulb disappearing afterward.
The sight of the dynamite stick caused the Kapatelis to panic. Noticing their reaction, Lola waved her hands at them to calm down.
"Don't worry! It's non-lethal to human beings like you!" she exclaimed to them. "Just protect your face from the glass and everything will be fine." She added while waving her left hand back and forth in front of her face, hoping they will get the message.
Julia and Vanessa nodded before kneeling down and putting their heads between their legs. Lola taped the dynamite stick on the keyboard with a roll of duct tape she also summoned and then lit it with a match. The rabbit then walked a few feet away from the glass tube and covered her ears.
BOOM!
After a cloud of smoke appeared and subsequently disappeared, Lola noticed that the glass tube was now destroyed. She quickly summoned a vacuum and got rid of all the shards of glass surrounding the Kapatelis. One minute later, the shards were all gone.
"You're free now!" the rabbit exclaimed to the two humans.
Julia and Vanessa stood up and embraced the cartoon character, who embraced them back.
"Thank you, Lola!" Vanessa exclaimed.
"No need to thank me." The rabbit said.
The embrace soon stopped before Lola looked towards the other wagon.
"Hey, Wondie! They're both free!" she shouted.
Soon enough, Wonder Woman came back from the other wagon, grabbed both Kapatelis, and flew away with them out of the train. However, Lola realized something.
"Wait, did she forget about me?" she wondered out loud, confused.
"Well, I certainly didn't forget about you."
The rabbit turned around and noticed Cyborgirl's presence, still ready to fight.
"Listen, I don't know what salary Cheetah is giving to you, but I'm sure I can find some way to double it. I mean, Daffy has an uncle so wealthy that he's considered to be the richest duck in the world. I'm sure he would be willing to let me borrow some of his money." Lola said before looking embarrassed as she realized her mistake. "Oh, wait. Sorry, I keep mistaking Daffy for that OTHER duck. But don't tell him I made that mistake because he can't stand him."
"You talk too much." The cyborg woman said, frowning.
"I get that a lo-WHOA!" Lola exclaimed while dodging a blast from the villainess.
The latter kept shooting at the Looney Tune, who used various ballet poses to avoid each blast. Having enough of that, Cyborgirl ran towards the rabbit, leapt in the air, and tried to punch her opponent in the face. The cartoon character yelped before dodging the punch by bending her body and lying on the floor. The cyborg woman ended up hitting the floor instead. This was immediately followed by the rabbit running towards the other wagon, closing the door behind her, and locking it. Catching her breath, she started rubbing her forehead.
"Okay, Lola." She said to herself. "Use your brain and try to find some way to stop that angry lady."
Her eyes widened as she thought about something.
"Wait a minute… If she's a cyborg, maybe I could put some computer virus into her." She said.
Lola then put her hand into her pocket and summoned a laptop. She clicked on several buttons in a row before finding some virus she could use. Suddenly, the rabbit heard some noise, turned around, and witnessed Cyborgirl using her super-strength to open the locked door. She walked menacingly towards the cartoon character.
"You're not going anywhere. And that's too bad for you." The villainess said in a threatening tone.
"If I give you some fruit pie, will you stop your criminal activities?" Lola asked in a hopeful tone.
"Not a chance." The African-American woman said before aiming at the rabbit again.
The latter dodged the blast by jumping high in the air and landing on Cyborgirl's arm cannon. She grabbed a wire connected to the laptop and plugged it inside the cyborg woman's right ear. Before the villainess could react, Lola was fast enough to click on a button, which caused the virus to be transmitted to the cyborg woman. The latter suddenly felt a weird sensation.
"What have you done!?" Cyborgirl asked, furious to know the answer.
"I sent a computer virus into your body. Said virus is a rare one that should overload your mind with videos of cute kittens found on the Internet." Lola replied, smirking.
"You can't be ser-ARGH!"
The cyborg woman screamed in pain. Her arm cannon turned back into a regular arm, causing Lola to yelp and fall onto the floor. The African-American woman grabbed her head with both hands, feeling the pain inside her mind. Suddenly, her eyes widened in shock and she started seeing something she never thought she would see that day.
"Aww, look at that kitten. It's so cute!" she said, smiling at the video she was seeing in her head. "And look, there's more of them coming." She said before realizing that a large amount of kitten videos were soon going to appear in her cybernetic mind. "Wait, there's too much of them. My brain can't contain that many videos! Make it sto-ARGH!"
Once again, Cyborgirl was feeling pain, screaming until her mind could not take it anymore, weakening her entire body until she was lying on the floor. Tired and unable to fight, the villainess had a hard time believing what just happened.
"How?" she asked to Lola while looking at the latter. "How did you manage to defeat me like that? It makes no sense."
"I'm sorry, lady, but to us, the Looney Tunes, 'logic' is pretty much a foreign concept." The rabbit replied.
After hearing that answer, Cyborgirl groaned as she closed her eyes before being unconscious.
"Well, that takes care of that." Lola said, dusting herself off before realizing something when she looked at the window. "Wait… This train is still going. I should check where we're going."
The rabbit made her way towards the locomotive. Inside of it, she looked at the window. However, much to her shock, not only was the train about to reach a dead end, but a town was on the other side of said dead end. Lola screamed in panic while her eyes were popping out. Quickly, she found the brake lever and pulled it. Unfortunately, she accidentally broke the lever in half.
"Oh, come on! I don't have time for that cliché!" the rabbit exclaimed, still panicking.
She was shaking in fear as she tried to find a solution. Suddenly, she noticed Wonder Woman landing in front of the train and facing it. The superheroine turned around, planted her feet against the ground, and braced herself for the impact. Soon enough, the train collided with her, but continued its path. Because her feet were planted against the ground, this resulted in the wooden planks on the railway being broken in half. Diana used not only all of her strength, but also all of her determination to push again the vehicle, hoping to make it stop before it could endanger the lives of several people.
Fortunately, just as they were only a few inches away from reaching the dead end, the train stopped moving. This allowed Wonder Woman, who was exhausted, to catch her breath. Lola sighed in relief after what she witnessed, almost fainting.
The Amazon then flew towards the wagon that was the furthest from the locomotive and entered it from behind.
"Lola!" Diana exclaimed. "Where are you?"
The rabbit opened the door to the locomotive and appeared from it.
"Right here, Wondie!"
The superheroine smiled before making her way towards the cartoon character. She arrived in the other wagon and noticed the knocked out Cyborgirl. The superheroine was glad they wouldn't have to worry about the cyborg woman for the time being. She finally arrived inside the locomotive, reuniting with Lola.
"Glad to see you came back. For a moment, I thought you forgot about me." The latter said, a bit upset.
"I'm sincerely sorry for making you feel that way. I wanted to make sure that Julia and Vanessa were safe and sound. I was able to bring them to a taxi before coming back here. I knew that you would be able to survive against Cyborgirl thanks to your durability. I don't know how you managed to defeat her, but I'm glad you were able to do so." Wonder Woman said, smiling at the rabbit.
"Oh, it was nothing, really." Lola said, trying to be humble about it.
Suddenly, a black spherical device was thrown from the locomotive's door and landed between the superheroine and the Looney Tune, surprising the two of them. They both looked at the door, but it was quickly closed before they could get a good look at who threw the device at them. It then emitted a gas, revealing itself to be a gas bomb. Wonder Woman and Lola covered their mouth and their nose with their hands, but that wasn't enough to prevent them from coughing and inhaling the gas. Soon enough, the two of them were knocked unconscious. The Amazon was lying on her stomach, while the rabbit was lying on her back, at the mercy of whoever threw that gas bomb…
Later on, Wonder Woman slowly opened her eyes. She felt very groggy and tired because of the gas she inhaled earlier on. At first, she didn't realize what was happening to her because of her tiredness.
However, her eyes suddenly widened in shock when she realized that a white cloth was covering her mouth and tied behind her head, gagging her.
"Mmph!?" she exclaimed.
Her first instinct was to get rid of it, but she was unable to move much. Diana looked down and realized that the rest of her body was bound. Her hands were handcuffed behind her back. Her arms were tied up by chains, and so were her legs. Additional chains were added to keep her in place on the side of a large grey device that was twice the superheroine's size. The top of the device had a rope tied to it. The rope went through a pulley on the ceiling, and its other end was tied to a pole sticking out from the wall in front of the Amazon. She looked around and noticed that she was inside a large military plane.
Wonder Woman then noticed Lola on her right. Not only was the latter unconscious, but she was also bound and gagged exactly like how Diana was at the moment, including being tied to the device with additional chains.
"Mnmn! MNMN!" Wonder Woman shouted through her gag, trying to say Lola's name.
The rabbit slowly woke up, feeling groggy. Several seconds later, her eyes widened in shock when she realized the situation she was in before noticing the black-haired woman next to her.
"Nnnnn!" Lola exclaimed, trying to say Diana's name.
"You finally woke up, you two sleepyheads."
The two heroines looked to their left and noticed Cheetah coming from behind the device. She had the Lasso of Truth rolled around her left elbow, earning herself a glare from the Amazon.
"I kidnapped your friends earlier on. But now, it's your turn to be kidnapped, Princess." The villainess said, smirking evilly. "You probably noticed that I took your precious lasso. Don't worry. I'll put it to great use. And if you're looking for your sword and your shield, they're somewhere in this plane, but don't expect me to give them back to you."
The feline woman stopped smirking and leaned her back against the wall before continuing to talk.
"You might be wondering what's going on. Well, after I knocked out you two with my gas bomb, I brought you to this plane and tied you both to this bomb. I'm planning to drop that bomb from this plane. As soon as it will be falling down, the timer will start, and it will blow up four minutes later. But if the bomb somehow malfunctions, that won't be a problem as it will be landing right in the middle of a volcano. Either one or the other will surely kill you. Now, some might say that my plan is an instance of overkill."
Cheetah then walked towards Wonder Woman, who was still glaring at her, and stopped right in front of her, with their faces just a few inches away from each other. The feline woman glared back at her archenemy.
"Well, in your case, NOTHING will ever be overkill." She added.
Immediately after hearing that, Diana headbutted the feline woman, causing the latter to yelp in pain and fall on her back. The British woman rubbed her forehead and winced in pain. She then snarled and stood up before tightly clenching the superheroine's gagged mouth with her left hand.
"MMPH!" the black-haired woman exclaimed.
"You will no longer give me headaches both figuratively and literally, you bitch!" Cheetah exclaimed.
"Mnn mmnn'ph gmph nmmnm mmnphh phhnph, Chmmphnh!" the superheroine exclaimed.
"Aww, you're adorable. It's so cute of you to think I'm able to understand what your mouth is saying right now. Too bad there's not a translator for it." The feline woman said, smirking.
"Mnn hng mmnnnm!" Lola exclaimed while frowning, getting Cheetah's attention. "Nf N mmnphn'ph phnmn np rnghph nnmm, N mmnnmn phnrn mnn nnphn mnrphhmnmmnmmph!"
"It seems like you don't understand the concept of a gag either." The villainess said before letting go of Wonder Woman's gagged mouth. She then faced Lola and booped her nose, causing the rabbit to be annoyed by that. "Then again, maybe you just haven't been tied up as often as certain cartoon damsels in distress like Daphne from Scooby-Doo have been, otherwise you would understand it." She added, smirking.
Cheetah then walked towards the wall and stood next to the rope.
"You know what, Wonder Woman? In some ways, you've become a Disney princess. Like them, you're a beautiful princess from a world of fantasy who befriended at least one annoying talking animal." The feline woman said, earning a glare from Lola. The former glared at the Amazon while saying the following. "But unlike them, you won't get the opportunity of singing a song about what you want in your life AND the villain will be the one to get a happy ending."
The villainess looked at the rope before looking back at her longtime enemy again, smirking evilly once more.
"Oh, and by the way. I did not gag you two to prevent you both from calling for help. But rather to prevent you both from communicating with each other and coming up with a plan to save your asses."
Cheetah clicked on a nearby button on the wall, causing the ground to open and showing that they were quite high in the sky. The bomb, along with its captives, was now suspended in the air thanks to the rope. Lola panicked upon seeing that, while Wonder Woman tried to stay calm. The Amazon looked back at the feline woman, who was ready to cut the rope.
"Farewell, Princess Aurora." Cheetah said, smiling evilly before finally cutting the rope and making her enemies fall to their doom.
Diana and Lola struggled to get themselves free, grunting against their respective gag while doing so, but the chains and the handcuffs were too tight for that. The superheroine stopped struggling and decided to come up with a plan. She had to think fast given they only had less than four minutes.
She looked at Lola and noticed the pocket on the latter's dress. This was the same pocket that allowed the cartoon character to summon anything. If only one of them could reach the pocket, they might have a chance. Unfortunately, the chains on Lola's arms and the handcuffs on her hands behind her back made it impossible for the rabbit to reach what was at the front of her body. However, the Amazon's hands might be able to reach it if they moved their bodies closer to each other. She had to tell her idea to the Looney Tune, but her gag was too tight for her to simply make it slide down and free her mouth.
Suddenly, the black-haired woman's eyes widened as she got an idea.
"MNMN!" Wonder Woman exclaimed, trying to say Lola's name once again.
This got the rabbit's attention as she turned her head towards Diana, who then started to blink her eyes in various ways. At first, the cartoon character arched an eyebrow, having no idea what the Amazon was trying to do. But then, her eyes widened as she realized that the superheroine was trying to communicate through Morse code, just like Julia did earlier on.
"NH! Rmpmnph mmhnph mnn nnphph phnnn!" Lola exclaimed.
Guessing that the rabbit was trying to tell her to repeat what she was trying to say, Wonder Woman nodded and started her message back from the beginning. The Looney Tune tried to keep her focus entirely on the black-haired woman's blinking eyes, which was quite hard to do given how easily distracted the rabbit could be at times, not to mention the fact they were falling from the sky while stuck on a bomb. Eventually, she figured out that the superheroine was trying to say 'Let me reach your pocket'. Lola looked at the pocket on her dress before realizing what her fellow captive wanted to do. The rabbit started to move her body to her left as much as she could, while Diana did the same to her right, trying to reach the pocket with her handcuffed right hand. The two of them struggled heavily, making lots of grunts against their gags.
After lots of struggle, Wonder Woman was able to grab the pocket with her index and middle fingers. The rest of her hand was able to go inside the pocket, rummaging to get something that would save them both. A few seconds later, her fingers grabbed something and she pulled it back. It was an eraser. At first, Diana was in disbelief that it was all she could get. However, she realized there may be more to it than it appeared. Holding onto the eraser tightly, she rubbed it against the middle part of her handcuffs. Much to her pleasure, it literally erased the middle part, allowing the superheroine to free her hands.
She then started erasing the middle part of the chains around her torso, freeing her arms. The Amazon bended over to erase the middle part of the chains around her legs. Upon doing so, she also noticed that they were getting closer to the volcano. Along with the fact that the bomb was also getting closer to blow up, Wonder Woman decided to not remove her gag, as every second mattered and she didn't think using her mouth would be essential at the moment. After freeing her legs, the black-haired woman turned her body to her right, grabbed the chains around Lola's torso with her left hand and held onto it, and planted her feet against the bomb, with the rabbit being between her feet. Diana erased the middle part of the chains around the cartoon character's legs, freeing them. She immediately did the same thing to the chains around the Looney Tune's torso. This was followed by the Amazon lifting Lola and putting her on her right shoulder before erasing the middle part of the rabbit's handcuffs, freeing her hands.
The cartoon character then climbed down Wonder Woman's body and held onto her waist. Diana flew towards the top of the bomb and grabbed it by the rope, mere moments before they could reach the volcano. She then flew towards the sky, bringing the bomb with her before stopping at a certain altitude. The Amazon started to spin around incredibly fast, swinging the bomb around like how Mario would swing Bowser around after grabbing him by the tail in Super Mario 64. Faster than you can say 'So long, King Bowser!', the superheroine threw the bomb upwards, sending it to a pretty far altitude. And then…
BOOM!
Lots of debris from the bomb ended up falling down. Wonder Woman turned her back towards them and used her body as a shield to protect Lola. Luckily, not a single debris ended up hitting either of them. After the rain of debris was over, the superheroine and the rabbit looked at where the bomb exploded, with Lola pulling down her gag.
"Great Hera!" Diana thought, sighing in relief. "MMPH!" she exclaimed when the rabbit jumped at her neck and hugged her.
"My hero!" Lola joyfully exclaimed.
The Amazon closed her eyes and hugged the cartoon character back. After the hug was over, they looked at each other while the black-haired woman finally pulled down her gag with her hand, revealing a smile underneath it.
"Let's go. We have some unfinished business to deal with." The superheroine said.
Lola nodded before Wonder Woman started to carry her like a bride and flew towards Cheetah's plane, the two of them ready to teach a lesson to the feline woman…
End of chapter.
That was a close one. But our heroines aren't done yet, as they still need to deal with Cheetah. Next chapter will be the conclusion of this adventure involving Wonder Woman and Lola before we put the spotlight on other characters.
Originally, Lola was supposed to have Cyborgirl's mind be overloaded with Internet memes, but I realized that might date the chapter quite a bit. So, I decided to replace it with something more timeless: cute kitten videos. Because there will always be people watching cute kitten videos on the Internet.
