She'll pay for this. She has to pay! She has to! How could she do this to me after all that I've done for her? How?

How could she?

How could she do something so cruel, so…heartless?

Revenge. I will get revenge. I will get revenge! You'll pay for this. You'll pay dearly for this! Just you wait, Jeanne.

His last words could be heard echoing through the darkness.

"Just you wait…"

---

I was hiding in the shadows, my figure half-hidden in the darkness. Footsteps could be heard as the group neared the trap I've laid out.

I sighed. Just a small group of vampires and they wanted me, Jeanne, the most successful vampire hunter to solve this? This is a joke, right?

Something rustled in the bushes. I bent down to find out what it was. Just then, my foot got caught in the bushes, and I crashed down in the sidewalk. The group quickly turned and I could see their weapons at hand.

"Who's there? Reveal yourself."

I stood up and got out my knife.

"Oh, it's nobody…" I said, "Just me, Jeanne."

I saw the group freeze. One of them, one who was brave enough to speak, stammered:

"J-Jeanne? You mean the legendary vampire hunter?"

I smiled. Praise always raised my grumpy attitude. "That's right."

They didn't even have time to scream. In just two flicks of my waist, they were all gone. I wiped the blood on my jeans; this job was too easy. I turned and walked away.

I was careless. I didn't pay attention to what was coming next.
