Chapter 2 - Uninvited Guests
Harry Potter, Queen of Erebor and Queen of the Greenwood, stormed through her kingdom or Erebor. She had sent a missive to Gandalf when the name of her best friend had magically appeared on her nephew, Fili's, forearm. It was a celebratory occasion, but Harry desperately wished to know why Hermione was here and where she might be. It had taken time, but she had now finally received a missive back. Apparently, Gandalf had brought not only Hermione here but Ginny as well! He did not explain anything at all. Only conveying that they were here and were being housed with Bilbo. Poor Bilbo was once again having to host uninvited guests. Harry was hurrying through Erebor to her husband, Thorin. She was ready to travel to the Shire. She needed to get to Hermione.
"Husband." she said as she opened the door to his court.
Thorin was holding court. He had heard petty squabbles all day. The prejudice against elves had all but died. So that had been on topic again that day. He had been thinking heavily that he wished for his pregnant wife to interrupt the proceedings. It was lunch time, and she would get worried if he didn't show soon. Then the door opened followed by Harry's voice, Husband. It was music to his ears. The men in the room greeted her formally but without warmth. Thorin knew that his court did not care for his wife and queen. She was not dwarven and that ruffled many of theirs feathers. And Harry did not care. He did not either. He had made it quite known that he would not tolerate any hate or unhappiness directed at his Queen. He would not have it.
Harry approached him on the throne. She was radiant in her pregnancy. He noticed that she had a letter in her hand. She handed it to him, and he read it. She was a bit distressed over her friend, he knew, but this was claiming that there were two from her world here and that they were with Bilbo. He sighed. He knew what she was wanting. Bilbo's birthday was almost here so he was alright with the idea. Time to see his old friend again.
"Let's go, my dear." he said, and she smiled.
Harry was thrilled. She pulled from her pocket the portkey she had created years ago. Thorin called for Fili and Kili. When they arrived, Thorin left Kili in charge and then he, Fili, and Harry all disappeared. The trio landed in Bilbo's garden. Harry rushed over and knocked on Bilbo's door.
"No thank you! We don't want any more visitors, well-wishers or distant relations!" Bilbo's voice came from behind the door.
"Bilbo Baggins, open this door!" Harry said.
"Harry!" Bilbo's voice came as the door opened.
The Hobbit looked out to his old friends. It was indeed Harry, Thorin, and Fili. They had not really aged much as neither had he. It was so good to see them.
"Oh, Bilbo!" Harry said and hugged him.
"My, my, Harry, look at you." he said and looked at her very pregnant self.
"Yes, Thorin and I have another little one on the way." she said and patted her belly.
"Bilbo, old friend." Thorin said as he came forward.
Bilbo invited them all in and told them of the young ladies that had been dropped in his garden by magic. Harry informed him that they had been planning to come to his party and then Hermione's name showed up on Fili's arm. Then they received Gandalf's missive. Bilbo looked relieved.
"Miss Ginny, Miss Hermione, would you mind coming to the kitchen please?" Bilbo called down the hallway.
The group at the table heard two doors open and then footsteps coming to the kitchen. Harry sat there a bit stiff. She had missed them so very much and hoped that she could comfort them.
"Hello Mr. Bilbo." Hermione greeted as they walked in, "Oh, I see you have guests."
"Please come in." Bilbo said.
"Hermione!" Harry spoke and turned to stand.
"Do I know you?" Hermione asked looking at her.
"Wait a minute." Ginny breathed, "Harry?"
Hermione looked at the lady again. The messy hair and the bright green eyes and then there on her brow was the lightning bolt.
"Harry?" she breathed, and her voice choked.
"Hermione. Ginny." Harry said and nodded.
"How are you a girl?" Hermione asked looking her over.
"I honestly don't know. I was brought here by Professor Dumbledore." Harry stated with tears running down her cheeks.
"Professor Dumbledore?" Ginny asked, "How?"
"Lady Yavanna had a hand in it. She is this worlds equivalent of God, almost." Harry explained.
"I am to guess she brought us here as well?" Ginny asked.
"Probably. We'll have to ask Professor Dumbledore, who is now called Gandalf the Gray in this world." Harry stated and hugged Hermione.
Harry's pregnant belly decided it did not appreciate being ignored and baby proceeded to kick Hermione. Hermione looked down finally noticing that Harry was around 8 months pregnant. Hermione pulled back and examined her.
"Merlin's bear, you're pregnant too?" Hermione asked aghast.
"Harry's pregnant?!" Ginny came over surprised, "Merlin's beard!"
"Who is Merlin?" Fili asked Thorin.
"I do not know." he answered with a shrug.
These utterances finally pulled all eyes to them. Fili got a good look at Hermione. She was a small young woman. Warm brown eyes, lots of long untamable curls, a pert nose and full pink lips. She was slight of frame and build, very delicate looking but from the stories Harry had talked about her friend she was quite the fighter. A very peaceable girl but once you stirred the fire within her, you had better watch out. So, this was his soul mark? He had to admit she was an enchanting woman.
"I am so sorry to be rude. Harry, who are these men with you?" Hermione asked almost ashamed for ignoring them.
"Please accept our apologies." Ginny said, face aflame.
"These are my family here." Harry said and pulled Thorin forward, "This is my husband and father of some of my children."
"It is a pleasure to meet you ladies. Harry has told us many stories over the years about her friends and of Hogwarts." Thorin said then introduced Fili, "Fili here, is my nephew. My sister Dis's eldest son."
"Pleased to meet you both, I'm Ginevra Weasley, please call me Ginny." Ginny said and looked over at Hermione.
Hermione looked the embodiment of cat got your tongue. Her cheeks and ears were pink. She looked very shy as she had been introduced to Fili. Then she shook herself out of it.
"Yes, I second Ginny. It is nice to meet you. I am Hermione Granger." she said softly to Fili.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Hermione." Fili said and took her hand placing a kiss on the back of it.
"Uncle Bilbo, I'm back!" Young Frodo's voice floated through the house with the sound of a closing door.
"In here, my lad." Bilbo called back.
A young hobbit appeared. A huge smile spread across his face when he saw Harry. He came close to her and gave her a hug.
"It is so nice to see you, Lady Harry." Frodo exclaimed, "It has been 20 years since I saw you last."
"20 years!" Ginny and Hermione echoed him.
"Gin, Hermione, we need to have a long talk." Harry said to them.
Everyone gathered together and Harry told her story. From the beginning. From the time she died as young wizard Harry James Potter to waking up in the in-between with her family and had become a female. She had seen Remus, Sirius, her mother and father and Professor Dumbledore had been sent to fetch her for Middle Earth. Lady Yavanna had decided that she had needed her for the task of the dragon Smaug and to reclaim Erebor for the Dwarven folk. She told them of Beorn the skin changer and his gentle hand with the animals. How she had travelled through the Greenwood, Kingdom of the Woodland Elves. And with that part of the story the questions came. How many husbands did she have? Why did she have two husbands? She was a Queen over two Kingdoms? She had how many children? She's been married how long? How did she barely look to be 23 years old at most?
Harry could almost laugh at all the questions. It was understandable that they did not understand. It could be so easy to tease them, but she would not. It was so nice to have someone around that she knew before her life in Middle Earth. But now she had to think about Fili getting together with Hermione. And maybe... Ginny with her stepson, Legolas. They would make a fine pair. She could see it now. Both girls in her family. It was a delightful thought.
As the evening wore on Hermione and Ginny had filled her in on what had happened after she had passed. The war had been won. Hogwarts had been utterly destroyed but had been restored in quick order. Professor McGonagall had become Headmistress. Harry's funeral had been a grand yet somber affair. So many had lost their lives. Remus, Tonks, Fred, Lavendar, Professor Snape and so many others. Harry had shared her condolences with Ginny over Fred's passing. It had been proven also that Snape and the Malfoy Family had truly been double agents during the war. That did not surprise Harry in the least when she thought back on their behaviors.
Hermione had told Harry about everything she had been through since the rebuilding of Hogwarts. She had finished school, but her heart had never been back into the books or the academics. Then the death of her parents. She had found their graves in Australia. They had died just a month before the war of the Wizarding World had ended. Then she got to the day that she and Ginny had ended up in Middle Earth. She herself had been contemplating ending it all and had spoken to Ginny about it. Both girls wanted nothing more than to be with her again. They had been placing a bouquet of forget-me-nots and lilies on the grave when they both were suddenly in Bilbo's garden. Harry wagered that Gandalf had heard their plea and had come and taken them with Lady Yavanna's blessing. Eventually the old conjurer would show up and they could speak to him.
It was getting quite late, and Bilbo was more than ready to bed down. Harry was tired and the baby was kicking up a storm in its discontent at still being up instead of Harry resting. Fili offered to stay in the living room while Harry and Thorin were to bed down in the last spare bedroom at Bag-End. Hermione and Ginny returned to the room they were sharing after once again thanking Bilbo for his hospitality. Bilbo waved the young ladies on and went to his room after Frodo assured him that he would make sure everything was put away for the night.
Frodo was just placing some clean plates back into the cupboard when he heard a door open and then the soft patter of feet. He peeked out to see that Miss Granger, in her nightdress, had risen and had come to the sitting room. She carried in her arms a pillow and a blanket. He saw the Dwarf named Fili sit up and then stand up when she entered the room. She came to him and handed the items over to him. He heard them make light conversation before Hermione slowly made her way back to her room. Frodo saw that Fili had watched her every step of the way until she had disappeared from his sight. Not being too sure but Frodo felt as if he had snooped in on the beginnings of a courting.
With a quick pop in on Fili, Frodo then made his way to bed for a good night's rest. He had a feeling that the next day that things were going to get very interesting, fast.
AN: This was a longer chapter. This may or may not be a lengthy fiction. I never know until I get churning out these chapters well. So we will see.
