Angelica Ainsworth had lived for over two hundred years. Ever since she gave up her humanity for her family she had learned the harsh reality that Dead Apostles were never welcomed within society. Mainly because they had to drink blood and if left unchecked could doom whole cities. Because of that any local members of the Holy Church or Mages Association would immediately try to attack her out of reflex. So, standing in front of Shirou's lair made her just stare dumbfounded. "You just live here out in the open?"
Here was one who lived out in the open and wasn't dead. Especially given that Fuyuki didn't just have a family from the Mages Association watching over it, a Church representative who oversees the city for the Holy Church, and a Dead Apostle Superior who limited contact with the outside world! "Well, yeah," Shirou knew his situation was abnormal for a Dead Apostle. "I mean I know how dangerous it is but so far no one has suspected that I'm a Dead Apostle."
Hiding in plain sight was what Shirou guessed he was doing. Only Illya and Taiga knew that he was a Dead Apostle. Everyone else had no real idea. Even Rin didn't know as she seemed to just assume he was a red eyed Magus. Walking into the building and turned to Angelica as he was about to tell her that she had to take off her shoes. To his surprise she had already done so. "This isn't my first time in Japan."
'Right should have guessed that,' Honestly it was almost surreal having met another Dead Apostle after so long. Eight years of basically being away from his own kind. Eight years away from his mother. 'Maybe she could help me?'
Finding his mother was likely going to be a bit difficult. Having another Dead Apostle help would be immeasurably helpful. Especially if she was a part of the faction his mother was in. But right now wasn't the time too as she wanted his help with something. Well, he volunteered his help but that was basically the same. "I'll have to talk to my sister for a moment so just wait here for a bit."
Angelica raised an eyebrow at this wondering what he meant by his sister. The obvious answer in her mind was that he wasn't the only Dead Apostle living here and that he was with his sibling. The other possibility was that she was a magus that lived with him and didn't turn herself. That later was also possible as some mages had learned means to live for a few centuries or more. Two minutes later, what came back with him, however, was something she hadn't seen in two hundred years. There was no mistaking what she was seeing. "An Einzbern…"
The plan Erikson had given him was simple. He wore the Mystic Code and met with Tohsaka. With its power Erikson will be able to walk into the building and overpower Rin. The Tohsaka heir was needed for him to perfect something he had. Shinji's reward will be having his Magic Circuits fully repaired from the effects of his grandfather, and be given a Magic Crest from a dead Magus. Before he went off on this though Erikson decided to "awaken" his circuits. Shinji only felt a slight discomfort from such an awakening. Something that went to show how naturally pathetic he was at being a magus.
Under normal circumstances an awakening like his would have numbed the person who did it. His circuits were of such a low quality and quantity that he had none of that. Something that showed how badly his grandfather had done to his own bloodline. 'It won't matter, all I have to do is help Erikson and when all is said and done I will be the Magus I was meant to be!'
After that, he could think about how to get back at his grandfather and Sakura. Strangely enough despite the anger he had towards her last night and even earlier today his anger felt more numbed. His jealousy had filled his actions last night. Angered at being denied his birthright. A birthright that as he had learned his own grandfather had practically taken from him and had given to a girl who he had been given from the Tohsaka's. For a brief moment thinking about what he had done to Sakura, having hit her over something she may not have wanted, brought about a slight amount of guilt. Immediately as soon as he felt it he pushed away in his mind and tried to ignore it.
'Wait, isn't she not home today?' Shinji almost wanted to scream at himself. In his haste he had forgotten that Rin was off with her cousin from Finland, Luvia Edelfelt. Said cousin was likely a Magus herself and who Shinji was certain had a thing for Shirou.
He had been overly hasty in wanting to get this done, that was all. Shinji looked up at the bat familiar that had followed him. Something that was to be used as a signal. He stopped himself from answering as he noticed that the gate to the Tohsaka estate had been unlocked. Which meant that the owner of the place had returned. 'Looks like lady luck is on my side.'
Watching him, the bat familiar kept a close eye as Shinji walked into the estate watching as he passed through, unknowingly to him, the bounded field surrounding the estate. The Mystic Code around his wrist reacted and with it the trap was set. Flying off the bat returned to its master who was already in route to the estate. Meanwhile Shinji, unaware of this, just walked up and rang the doorbell. He had no real plan and was just going to wing it. A few moments of waiting for a response, Shinji was about to ring the doorbell again when it opened.
"Shinji?" Rin hadn't expected to see him as the one who was ringing her doorbell. "What do you want?"
"I saw you were back from Finland and figured I'll drop by," Most people at school just figured that she had been staying with distant relatives or something. Luvia's occasional appearances at school with them was enough of a prog for most of the student body. "Though I was wondering, do your trips occasionally take you to England?"
What he was implying was not lost on Rin. He was asking if she had been to the Clocktower. Something that Rin actually found strange for him to even ask. While the Matous were on paper a part of the Mages Association in practice they were basically just an independent family. Even then that was being generous. "No, I haven't and why do you care?"
Oh, Shinji was aware of the other side of the world. Rin had no delusions about that and Shinji had some idea on the truth of the situation with her and the Edelfelts. Still, she didn't think anything about it as there was to her knowledge only one member of their family besides Zouken who could use magecraft. Suddenly Rin could hear that little voice in her head that told her that she had basically refused to tell the Edelfelts about Sakura. Rin just pushed this away and repeated what she told herself. 'It wouldn't change anything and I doubt the Matous would care.'
"I'm the Matou heir, I should care you know," That was a lie and he knew it. She knew it as well seeing how Sakura was once her own sister.
Watching Rin fight to hold back a laugh, and failing as she did so made it extremely clear that she was aware of that fact. For a moment Shinji felt like telling her that her little sister was given to a Dead Apostle. That her parents basically handed their own flesh and blood to a monster. Priceless would be the look on her face and he almost did it. Against his own desire for payback he decided to keep up the idea he was clueless. "Is that it are you just going to laugh at me?!"
That answer should have been very obvious. After all, she did just laugh at him. "Shinji look I don't have time right now so can you please just head home or something."
Overhead he saw the bat familiar from before flying from the roof. A signal that Erikson was in and he could leave. Given how much he hated talking to Rin right now he was happy to oblige. "Fine whatever not like I care!"
Shinji turned away as he tried to contain his frustrations. 'Its only temporary deal with it and soon everything will be made right.'
Rin closed the door and walked back into her home wondering to herself why he even showed up. Reaching into her bag she pulled out a small object, a Mystic Code that was supposed to help her with finding out Shirou's element. Years ago she had decided she was going to figure it out and only now did she have the means to do so. Admittedly she could have tried from the same book her father had but it had a limitation. It was meant to work with the five main elements only. Shirou couldn't use any of them so it was basically useless. 'We'll finally know just what your Imaginary element is.'
"Rather basic of a Mystic Code don't you think?" Rin turned around pointing her finger out as she was met with a blonde foreigner who looked at her cross armed. A smirk was on his face. Arcs of electricity, or rather lightning magecraft, harmed in his hands. "Rin Tohsaka I presume?"
She didn't take her eyes off the intruder. A Magus at the very least. Someone who was able to get through the Tohsaka bounded field without triggering any sort of response. Her eyes caught sight of the bracelet that he wore. A bracelet that Shinji had been wearing. 'Is that a Mystic Code?'
Rin's thoughts immediately shifted as the man's claws let loose a blast of lightning magecraft aimed at her. At the last moment she was able to dodge out of the way. The lightning struck the wall behind her as Rin's mind quickly raced as to just what this man had to be. 'A Dead Apostle…'
Depending on the rank of the Dead Apostle a Magus like her could fight and win but something told her she wasn't facing a Dead Apostle Lesser. Immediately Rin used Reinforcement on her body and pulled out a few gems. If only she kept a few of the Black Keys that Kirei had around the building. Erikson gave a smirk as he saw she was ready to fight him. A fight he knew she was going to lose. Simple magecraft had no chance against the highest of Dead Apostle Superiors.
"Doing this the hard way is more fun."
Ainsworth was a name that Illya had heard a few times growing up in the Einzbern Castle. A family that had at one point been allies whose falling out had led to an unsuccessful attack on their home by their dolls. For two hundred years no one in the Moonlit world had heard about them. Now, she was starting to get an idea as to why. "So, are you the last of the Ainsworths or are you all Dead Apostles?"
Shirou sat watching as the both of them conversed. Hearing that both the Ainsworths and the Einzberns had a history wasn't something he had expected to hear. Actually, from what little Illya had told him the relationship they had seemed surprising even if it did end in them being attacked. Angelica who was sitting across from them both let out a sigh.
"I am the only one living that uses the name Ainsworth but I am not the last of my family," it was a technicality but it was one that did exist. By Mage society standards one would say that technically her family was effectively dead with her being a Dead Apostle. "My younger brother Julian ceased using our family name and took the name of the woman he married as for his family I stopped visiting them over seventy years ago."
Her contacts had been rather brief after her brother's marriage and that fit both her and the family he married into. Having an aunt and later great aunt who was a Dead Apostle would have been grounds for suspicion and with her raising to her current position, a candidate to fill the vacant Twenty-sixth seat, contact had to be cut off completely. "As for my family's magecraft I am the only one who practices anymore."
Having been there to see it Shirou had to ask. "That weird portals right?"
Calling the magecraft that her family had perfected that was overly simplifying the Flash Air that they practiced, or rather she did. Even then her own wasn't the same that it had always been. Especially, thanks to the developments that brought her to the point she was in. "Anyway, the reason I am here is because I am a candidate to take over the Twenty-sixth spot amongst the Dead Apostle Ancestors and I am not the only one."
"Erikson right?" Shirou remembered when she had pulled out the rapier at him and was ready with another sword. Out of what he assumed was someplace she had. If she was a candidate then it wasn't unreasonable to assume she might be developing a Reality Marble. "He's the other candidate and the reason you're here."
Angelica gave him a nod as she thought about the first time they met. It was just about two years after she had been named a possible candidate and the resulting confrontation was rather cordial especially given what they are. One would have expected a fight and indeed there was but it was only after their talk had broken down. "Yes, he has gone to the local Dead Apostle who lives here for help in whatever scheme he has to gain the power to overtake me."
The biggest thing that caught the siblings' attention was that there was a Dead Apostle here in Fuyuki. Seeing how Angelica had been surprised by Shirou that couldn't be him. "There is a Dead Apostle in the city?"
"Yes, one lives within Fuyuki and has for almost two hundred years," Angelica didn't know the details but she had heard that Fuyuki had a Dead Apostle who was able to live in the city. A city that had both the eyes of the Holy Church and the Mages Association watching even if just to a token amount. "All I know is that he has an agreement with the Tohsaka family of some kind."
The Tohsaka family having an agreement with a Dead Apostle made little sense to the both of them. Rin hadn't once even hinted that her family had ever done such a thing. In fact, if anything this sounded like something that was completely made up if not outright bullshit. "How do you know this?"
"He had a few dealing with the Dead Apostle Ancestors before I was able to get something about him but not much as he has usually dealt with one of the two factions," Which given he had only really done so a handful of times really said a lot about him. Given he was said to be unorthodox compared to the usual standard of their existence. Looking between them both a question that had been plaguing her mind started to demand to be asked. "You both wouldn't happen to know the Tohsaka's current head?"
It made a lot of sense given that they both basically lived within the Tohsaka territory. Given their families connections the Tohsaka head should know about Illya being an Einzbern. Said Einzbern, Illya if Angelica recalled, was the one to answer. "She's my best friend and we've known her for years," There was also the fact that Illya knew that Rin had feelings for Shirou. Something that Illya didn't like. "She doesn't know that Shirou is a Dead Apostle though."
Somehow that just seemed outlandish to Angelica. How does a Dead Apostle basically just hide in plain sight while being in close proximity with a family like the Tohsaka's? Nevermind the fact they had connections to the Holy Church and from them likely know how to spot a Dead Apostle living amongst them. Yet, right here in front of her that very thing seemed to be the case. 'Just who are you?'
Fuyuki she knew was the place that she had been separated from her child. It was the only reason she was even active again instead of living a low profile. Hearing that she had a child was not as surprising as one would think. Angelica knew that she could eventually figure it out given her tendency to create using flesh and her understanding of medicine. The chances of this boy being him though was unlikely. After all, Fuyuki would be the first place she would check.
Whatever questions she had about Shirou had to wait. There was the threat of her rival claimant to the Twenty-sixth seat. "Erikson has a plan for something that will allow him to take the position but it requires the Tohsakas for some reason," Angelica couldn't get much more than that. The issue with being an independent Dead Apostle was that her resources are limited. The independent Dead Apostle Ancestors didn't have this issue. "Whatever it is most likely requires her life in exchange."
Originally staying in Fuyuki had seemed more like a task. Which to Luvia it kind of was. However, soon she found herself drawn to the Emiya boy and his family. Imagine her surprise to learn his older sister was an Einzbern homunculus. A gift given to the Magus Killer for some important catalyst. Oh, that wasn't even the beginning of the oddity that was the Magus Killer's adopted son.
Twenty-seven Magic Circuits of rather extremely good quality. Apparently neither the two siblings or Rin had a full idea of how amazing they actually were for a first generation mage beyond how rare of a find this was. Then there was the revelation he had natural born Mystic Eyes of Enchantment. Add this on top of his circuits and Shirou would be the desire for many Mage Family. Only issue was that he seemed to have an inability to properly use magecraft outside of a few basic spells and his Mystic Eyes. Something she could fix by figuring out his element. Something that Rin promised that she would do but seemed to have never gotten around to it because she didn't have the means for it. Luvia laughed to herself as she now had the means to do it for him.
'Oh, Shero will just love it and with his element known I can't wait to see what he can do,' Maybe this will get her closer to him. Oh, she couldn't wait to lord this over her cousin. Walking the Mystic Code that was to help with it she walked out to find Auguste who was talking over the phone.
As he ended the call he turned to her with a concerned expression. What he had heard over the phone had come from the local police force. "My lady, someone had attacked the Tohsaka estate, your cousin is currently missing."
Despite the ongoing rivalry they had, Luvia did still care about her distant relative. Hearing this made her forget about what she was going to do as her mind immediately questioned how this could have happened. The Tohsaka estates bounded field was admittedly rather well put together. Any intruder who walked on to the property would have been both picked up but hit with a countermeasure. A normal human couldn't have done this. Which meant that a mage or something else had to have done this. Something like a Dead Apostle, or the mixed bloods that Japan was believed to have in a higher number. "Did they say anything about it?"
"They believe there was an explosion of some kind but they can't figure out what caused it."
It had to be a fight between Rin and whomever took her. Luvia knew what she had to do and she was certain that Auguste had a similar idea. First, she had to go see what the damage was and if she could figure out any clues on who did this. Once she had a lead Luviagelita Edelfelt was going to teach whomever did this why you shouldn't mess with the Edelfelts, even those who were just branches of their family!
Shinji looked at The Dead that wandered around the old building feeling the unsettledness creeping in. Just looking as the walking corpses stare at him with an instinctive desire to bite down being only kept back by the will of his new… benefactor? Honestly, he didn't know what he would call his current agreement with the Dead Apostle who was looking to become a Dead Apostle Ancestor. Whatever it was he was in deep and he knew it.
"You know there is a method to become a Dead Apostle that requires The Dead as an ingredient," He almost jumped out of his skin as Erikson walked up behind him. Erikson looked at The Dead as he continued to speak. "The method lets you skip over the whole thing and become a Dead Apostle Lesser, an independent one to do what you wish."
Staring back at the living corpse before him Shinji had to wonder just who would be mad enough to do that. The answer was seemingly obvious given that if mages like his grandfather existed that were willing to go as far as they did then who wouldn't try it. "Is that how you became a Dead Apostle?"
A nod in confirmation was given to him as the Dead Apostle looked at the corpse and pointed to it to leave. The Dead didn't even hesitate to follow the command of its creator. There was no spark of anything that would allow it to rise out of its state as a mindless servant to its master. "Yes, over six hundred years ago I decided to cease an opportunity that preceded itself before me and became a Dead Apostle," His expression darkened as he thought about someone else. "My rival claimant Angelica Ainsworth did the same but she benefited from the process being given to her by the Twenty-second."
"Wait, isn't the Twenty-second dead?" According to the books that Zouken had that he could read it did list that the Twenty-second of their kind was dead. Admittedly he probably should have guessed that this wasn't the case given how little he had on them.
Erikson had a bit of a chuckle at this. Of course, the boy wouldn't know about it. Not like Zouken cared about what went on as long as it didn't possibly affect him. At least that was what he thought. "No, turns out when the Burial Agency tried to put her down she was able to fake her death and went into hiding," Even some of them had figured she was gone. How funny it was to learn she was alive and searching for her Successor. "On accident it seemed she figured out a more perfected method able to skip one further into becoming a Dead Apostle Superior."
She wasn't the only one who did. The oldest amongst them did know ways to do the same but the means to do so have largely faded away. Her method was still unknown as she didn't share it with anyone. For a long time it was believed she didn't know how to replicate the process. Then Angelica Ainsworth happened and it was revealed that she did.
"Look I kind of don't want to become a Dead Apostle," Shinji figured that this was what Erikson was going for. At least that was what he was getting from the exchange. "N-not that there's anything wrong with it, I assure you, it's just… "
Erikson just rolled his eyes at this. "Don't worry about it I was just dropping the idea that you could become one if you wanted," Although, admittedly he would suck as one. "Besides there's no worry, I always keep my end of the bargain."
Shinji helps him with gaining the power he needed and in exchange Shinji would receive the means to undo what his grandfather had done to him. A deal that Shinji was starting to question a bit even if he was seemingly committed to it. "Hey, so why do you need Rin anyway?"
Erikson pulled out a small vial which contained some kind of red fluid. A fluid that contained within it something that was long since lost from this world. "Oh, it's something that will kill me but I plan a way to ensure she is the one to die," Erikson put the vial away. "In truth I had thought I was going to have to attack the Edelfelts to get what I needed."
"I don't follow."
A sigh was let out as Erikson could guess he didn't know. Maybe he really should have explained to the boy about what he had planned. "The ritual requires someone of my blood and as you can guess I can't have any kids," A trade off of a human undergoing the process was that none of them could. "Lucky me I had a half brother and I was able to track down his bloodline into the Edelfelt family."
Shirou looked at the police tape that had been all around the Tohsaka estate. It was hard to not notice both the destroyed windows on the outside and the open door at the front of the house. The only thing that was strange was the lack of anyone at the scene of the crime which was suspicious in of itself. Angelica cursed under her breath. "He already got her."
Now Erikson was a step closer to what he had planned, and that meant a step closer to having the means to kill her. With the rival dead and him having the power needed he would take the position for himself. For a moment she cursed herself for deciding to investigate the other Dead Apostle instead of finding and killing him. As soon as the crossed her mind she pushed it away. If she hadn't done that she would have been paranoid about him having a possible ally. 'What's done is done.'
"This couldn't have been long ago," Shirou gaze hardened as he knew that Rin was now in trouble. There was no telling what was going to happen to her. He felt his fist tightened as he knew that he had to save her. Without much thought he turned over to Angelica. "Do you have any idea where he could have gone?"
Angelica gave a nod as she understood why he was worried. Despite her change she did keep her humanity and it seemed so did Shirou. "There are a few places, if I recall, that he could be using as a lair. "
Fuyuki didn't have much in the way of suitable places for a lair. This wasn't an old ruined down urban area nor some place with a lot of old and abandoned buildings. Which meant that space was limited making the possibilities limited as well. Before the three of them could make much of a plan though someone else cut in. "Illya, Shero?"
Both siblings turned as they saw Luvia walking out of the building with a few gems in her hand. Her eyes turned to Angelica wondering who she was. As she got closer she noticed the claws, the red eyes, and had this feeling that something was off. "Is that a…" Luvia used a minor spell that her family had developed during their time to locate an individual as something other. Her eyes widened as it answered her. "A Dead Apostle!"
Luvia had yet to face one herself but her family had dealt with Dead Apostles as part of their mercenary work. Fighting one was a hassle if one didn't know their rank. Though at least the board daylight was supposed to weaken them and she was rather prepared. "Wait, Luvia, listen Angelica is working with us.."
Shirou's attempt to defuse the situation wasn't working as Luvia was thinking of the worst. Given how Dead Apostles were, such a thing was natural to do. "Shero, whatever the bloodsucking demon told you is obviously a lie!" Luvia's expression became one of nothing but hatred. "Dead Apostles are sedistic monsters who can betray anyone they make a deal with."
Her words were not wrong. Most of their kind were in some ways sadistic and many did whatever they wanted the circumstances be damned. Nevermind, most who became Dead Apostles did so for selfish reasons or had been wrapped by their transformation into one. Angelica was still annoyed by this even if the reasoning was sound to have when dealing with Dead Apostles. Angelica turned to Shirou who seemed conflicted by this before he let out a sigh. They didn't have time to waste on this as Rin was in danger.
It was reckless but he had to do this. He'll deal with the problems that will arise afterwards. "Luvia, I'm a Dead Apostle."
Walking around the city was just somewhat annoying to him now. Gilgamesh had tried quite a few things about the modern day in his ten years being incarnated and each one was just disappointing. Most of the entertainment was basically just time wasters that just exist to keep the masses happy. TV, games, movies, and whatever else didn't seem all that appealing with this revelation in mind. The food was just about the only redeeming thing about the modern world to an extent. Faced with all of that and the boredom of the Church seemed less of an annoyance to him. 'At the very least the Grail War should begin in two years' time.'
Suddenly he could feel something off. Turning his head towards the door to the church he watched as tendrils of darkness gave way as a Servant materialized. For a split moment he thought he had seen the albino dressed in a black with red trim religious looking outfit right in front of him. He was vaguely aware of a homunculus woman who had shown up during the last Grail War and had pretended to be her master. No, they looked the same but they were not the same. Another thing was he had this feeling about her.
Only once had he felt this when the contains of the Lesser Grail had fallen on him and he was bathed in the mud. Its influence was trying to enter into his mind and failing. When he looked into the truth of what had become of the Holy Grail that everyone had fought for. Yet, even this wasn't completely the same feeling that he had when that had happened. "Who are you?"
The unknown servant stared at him confused for a moment as she was scanning the feeling he gave off. It was muffled but it was there. "You're the Archer of the Fourth Heaven's Feel correct?" The albino gave a slight bow. "I'm Servant Class Ruler summoned by the Grail to deal with an anomaly within the system and to persuade over the upcoming war."
Ruler was something Gilgamesh had a vague idea about from when he was a Servant in the Fourth Grail War. It was something that was only to come about if the other Servants had decided to stop fighting. "What is this anomaly if I may ask?"
"The Lesser Grail has appeared to be in two places at once," There was also the presence of another possible Lesser Grail that was only discovered by Ruler after she had been summoned and had spent the time looking over the systems. That Grail had to be dealt with but in due time. "After the last war I have decided that a new Grail needs to be created, one kept under my own watch to ensure that the failure of the last war is not done."
She also wanted to ensure that the outcome of the war went her own way. Which was something that brought her into conflict. On one hand the Grail was already trying to grant a wish, and on the other hand she had the desire to regain the Third Magic. A tiny voice within her wanted to instead wish for the dismantling of the Grail for good so that Illya could have a normal life. 'Who is Illya?'
Justeaze knew that she wasn't fully herself, or rather fully Justeaze Lizrich von Einzbern. Within her was also part of the Servant stuck within the Greater Grail and some sort of lingering will. It wasn't a full personality nor could Justeaze figure out what it was but whatever it was constantly tried to influence her to find or help someone called Illya. Someone who she knew had a connection to her but why that matters she had no idea. Justeaze had other things to worry about then the lingering will telling her to find this 'Illya' that it wanted her to find.
"I see well it's of no concern of mine unless my existence here is of your concern," Gilgamesh stared at the Ruler Class Servant before him. Her plan to oversee the war was something that Kirei was likely to do but now that seemed to be taken by the Grail's own Servant.
"While you are a lingering remnant of the previous war, you are no issue for the Grail system," Incarnated Servants were not truly tied to the system though in theory they could still be used for the ritual. Only issue was trying to get them into a Lesser Grail as from what Justeaze could see from Gilgamesh he might just return to the Throne of Heroes if he died.
A dark echo within her was rather annoyed at the Servant. His will, or rather his ego, was too great to influence. In the end he had been incarcerated by the contains of the Lesser Grail for no cost. Much like with the "Lingering Will" this "Echoing Voice" within her had its own desires and they seemed tied to the wish that was left waiting. Gilgamesh was apparently tied to such a desire and more with annoyance but also to the reason for why she had decided to come here. Apparently after the Second War the Holy Church had taken into overseeing the ritual. Who should have been here and who she needed to speak with.
"Where is the overseer that the Holy Church appointed?"
So, a few things given the last chapter brought a few questions in the reviews. If it isn't obvious what the Greater Grail had become thanks to Angra Mainyu rendered the Throne unwilling to answer the Grails call for a Ruler. After, all should the thing in the Grail mature and be let lose it will be a threat to humanity. Something the Heroic Spirits in the Throne are meant to prevent.
As for how far are we to the Fifth Grail War? This arc is part of the lead up to it which is itself might take some time. As for how many chapters I am not telling. Got to keep some surprises after all.
Anyway, I'll cya all next time.
