It was the day all young children dreaded. The day they left their mothers to spend time with other kids who didn't know how to share toys. Or even know the difference between a Barbie and Ken doll for that matter.
Today was the first day of kindergarten. All the mothers began preparing their children, dressing them in their uniforms that made them oddly look like sailors.
But there were two children who were very excited. They were Sora and Riku. Their mothers knew each other, so they had playtime together every now and then, but they couldn't wait to meet other people from different parts of the island.
Sora's mother was beginning the finishing touches on her son, adding the hat to the sailor-like uniform. She was surprised it had actually fit on his wild mess of what you could even call hair.
When all the children had arrived with bloodshot eyes from crying, you could hear the mothers telling their children to have fun, be brave, and make friends. Some were holding conversations with the teacher before leaving their children all alone.
Everyone was very shy, but the teacher broke the ice by introducing herself to her pupils. "My name is Miss Sheer," she said flashing a toothy smile. "So let's begin our day by coloring portraits. It can be of a sibling, pet, parent, or yourself." She passed around large, white sheets of paper waiting to be filled with vibrant colors.
The children pulled out their crayons and began to draw. Sora was drawing his mother, Riku was sketching some far away world that probably wasn't real, Tidus drew a pretty girl named Yuna, and Wakka was drawing a blitzball.
In the midst of Sora's fierce coloring, the last sound he heard was his sky blue Pooh Bear crayon snapping in half. The snapping echoed loudly in his ears and he began to bawl. "My…boo…cwayon!" he said in between sobs. He stared at it then shoved it in his mouth and chomped away. Not realizing what he had just done, he sobbed louder.
Everyone at his table began to stare at Sora like he had horns growing out of his head. Tidus was the first to try and comfort him. "You can have my boo cwayon…" he said quietly. Sora took it from him and threw it at his face, causing Tidus to cry now.
Riku gave Sora his Dora the Explorer crayon, with a small smile plastered on his young face. He gently took it from Riku's small hand and wiped away the tears on his face. He gave a grand smile and clapped his hands together multiple times.
Sora finished his drawing of his mother and admired his work. He thought his mom would be so proud of him. "Your coloring is ugwy, So-wa." Wakka said looking over at the sheet of scribbled on parchment.
Wakka stared at Sora for awhile. "Oh weally?" he said, kicking Wakka under the table. Now it was his turn to cry. "HE KICKED MEEEEE!" Wakka wailed in utter pain. "Sora!" Miss Sheer called. He sank down in his chair and smiled to himself. This is going to be an interesting day.
Author's Note: I didn't really like the ending…but eh. Hope you liked it.
