Christmas morning found Hermione to be the last one to wake. The aroma of bacon and toast greeted her nose. As she walked out of her room, down the stairs, and into the kitchen, she found her parents sitting at the table with Harry at the stove cooking. "Merry Christmas poppet," Johnathan smiled, looking up at her.

Hermione smiled, "Merry Christmas mum and dad." She turned to Harry who gave her a smile. "Merry Christmas Harry. The food smells delicious."

"Merry Christmas 'Mione. And thank you. Your mum wanted to cook but I insisted. It's my gift to her." He smiled as he turned back to the sizzling bacon. It wasn't much longer before everyone had a plate of bacon, eggs, and toast in front of them.

As they dug in, Jean complemented Harry before adding, "Now if only Hermione could master cooking eggs as you have she would be golden."

Hermione blushed, "Mum, I'm not that bad at eggs." Her father choked slightly on his toast. "Dad!" Johnathan shrugged his shoulders.

"Sorry poppet, but your mother is right. Your eggs can be a little," he cleared his throat, "well done."

Hermione pouted and stuck her nose in the air. "I can't help that I want to ensure they're fully cooked. I don't want to give anyone food poisoning."

The table just laughed as they resumed eating. It didn't take long before once full plates were emptied. The family retired to the living room where a tree stood sparkling merrily, gifts laid out around it. Jean took a seat on the arm chair as Johnathan grabbed a Santa hat and plopped it on Hermione's head before seating himself in another arm chair. "Your turn to play Santa, poppet."

Hermione grinned as she looked at Harry, "Aren't you going to sit down?" Harry rubbed the back of his head, "Harry, you're family now." Her grin widened. "So sit down and watch cause next year is your turn." She stuck her tongue out at the faintly blushing boy who sat on the couch. Hermione walked over to the pile of gifts before sorting them out to each person. The Grangers laughed at Harry's look of amazement as the pile around him grew. Once finished Hermione sat on the other side of the couch where her stack resided. They opened their gifts, one person at a time starting with Harry as he was the youngest. When he was done Hermione started on hers. Her mother had gotten her new outfits for school and a few muggle classics. Her father, always the practical one, gave her new muggle pens, and a journal. Harry had received the same from the older Granger. Johnathan told them that when he was their age, he had a journal himself that he used to write down his thoughts when he felt his mind clogged. He told them it always helped to write things down to clear and organize better. Harry had gotten her a new scheduler, saying that he wanted it to help her stay organized. Draco sent her Honeydukes chocolate. Lucius gave her a book on pureblood society with a note explaining it may help with future dealings in Slytherin House. Narcissa sent her a book on Advanced Charms; Severus sent one on Advanced Potions. She was surprised when she discovered a book on Advanced Transfiguration from Minerva. Her last two gifts were meat pies and a green knitted sweater with an H on it from Mrs. Weasley and a few chocolate frogs from Ronald.

The eldest Grangers opened their gifts before the family sat down to watch a Christmas movie. Once the movie was finished, Jean went into the kitchen to make a quick lunch as Johnathan pulled Harry into a game of chess. Hermione had her head stuck in one of her new books. So engrossed in her book, she didn't realize when it was lunch time. Harry walked over and pulled the Advance Transfiguration book out of her hands. "Hey! Give that back Harry," she scowled as he held it above her reaching hand.

He chuckled, "Hermione it's lunch time. You're mother has been trying to get your attention." He glanced at what she was reading, his brows bunching up, "How can you even understand any of this? It's Greek to me." He handed her the book back.

"It's because I'm smart and you're not." She stuck her tongue out as she stood up and placed the book on her seat.

Harry grasped his chest, "I'm hurt Hermione. And here I thought I was at least above average. Forgive me for not being a fifth of your brilliance." He bowed slightly before chuckling.

"Oh Harry you're more than a fifth of my brilliance. More like a fourth." She laughed as she walked into the kitchen, Harry trailing behind her. The family quickly ate lunch before they went back to the living room to watch another Christmas movie.

After the second movie Jean suggested that they all got ready to head to the Malfoy Manor for Christmas dinner and to stay till the new year. Narcissa had extended the invite earlier so that way the two families would have time to catch up and get to know one another better. After they quickly packed they met around the fireplace and Jean reached for the jar above the mantle. She quickly explained to everyone how the floo worked. Johnathan went first, followed by Hermione, Harry, and then Jean herself. They found themselves in a formal living room in front of a creature with bat like ears, big eyes, and short thin frame. It wore a toga style cloth with a crest bearing the Malfoy crest on the front. "Dobby is here to helps yous to your rooms. Follow Dobby please." He turned around and led the way out of the room, towards a staircase, then down the hall. "Master Abraxas, yous will stay here with Mistress." He pointed to one door. "Mistress Hermione, yous have that room." He pointed to another. "And Harry Potter yous have that room." He pointed to another door.

"My name is Johnathan, Dobby. Not Abraxas."

Dobby shook his head violently. "Nos Master Abraxas. Dobby knows yous Master Abraxas. Dobby helped Mistress smuggle yous out when yous just a baby. Dobby happy to see Master Abraxas again, Dobby is sir."

Johnathan sighed, "Dobby could you please just call me Johnathan. I truly prefer that. And I'm not your Master."

"Yous a Malfoy. Yous my Master. Dobby will call yous Master Johnathan on yous request." Johnathan went to say something but was stopped by his wife.

"Thank you Dobby. We're going to put our things away now. Is everyone in the drawing room?" Dobby nodded his head. "Alright then, I will be able to guide us there. I believe I still remember how to get there from when I was last here having tea with Narcissa." Dobby nodded his head before he winked away. Jean looked at the group staring at her. "What? Have you all forgotten that before my memory was wiped I used to live in the wizarding world? The Potter family had House Elves and used the Floo Network to get around." She looked at Johnathan who had his brow raised. "And yes, I have been here before when you had an emergency appointment in the office last week. Where do you think the invite came from? Through owl post?" She looked back at the kids. "Alright you two. Take your bags in and get settled. I'll come get you both when we finish." Hermione and Harry laughed at the look on Johnathan's face.

Twenty minutes later the Grangers plus Harry found themselves entering a massive drawing room. Spread around were multiple chairs and a few couches. In the middle of one wall stood a black marbled fire place housing a roaring fire. In a corner stood a ten foot tall tree decorated in silver and green bulbs. The other corner held a black polished grand piano. On the other walls stood tall, mahogany shelves filled with books and knicknacks.

"Jean, so glad you could make it." A thin, blonde hair woman walked towards Jean and gave her an air kiss on each cheek.

"Narcissa, thank you for the invite." Jean took a step back, "This is my husband Johnathan, my daughter, Hermione, and my nephew, Harry. Everyone this is Narcissa."

A long, blonde hair man walked up behind Narcissa along with Draco. "This is my husband, Lucius, and son Draco." The two nodded in greeting.

Johnathan stuck his hand out to Lucius, "I heard that you along with some of the Professors are responsible for the wards now protecting my home and family. Thank you."

Lucius shook his hand, "No need to thank me. You are blood. The wards on the house would not have took if you weren't. The blood magic I used only worked for those in Father's direct bloodline. That was how we confirmed the story of your birth. After that, Dobby was released from Mother's vow to allow him to speak freely. A… safeguard from Father finding out if she died and he questioned the Elf. Please, let us sit and talk while the children go out to play. Draco, why don't you show your cousin and Harry around before dinner at 6."

"Yes Father," Draco walked forward and motioned the two others to follow. Once they left the drawing room, Draco gave them a quick tour pointing out the different rooms. When they got to the library both boys had to practically drag Hermione out of it.

"Jeez Hermione, the library isn't going anywhere. I'm sure they'll let you spend time in here this week. You're practically acting like a child who had their lolly taken from them." Hermione stuck her tongue out at Harry when he spoke.

Draco chuckled, "Not bad Potter. I think this will be one in few times I have to agree with you. Surprise, surprise."

Harry rolled his eyes. "Whatever Malfoy. At least you're not as much of a prat here as you are at Hogwarts."

Draco held his hand over his heart. "A prat? Moi? I'm hurt Potter. And here I thought we were best mates."

"Oh stop you two. If you guys would just look beyond Houses you might actually become friends." Both boys looked at each other before turning back to Hermione with a raised eyebrow each. "Why do I even bother?" she mumbled. "Fine, you two may not be best mates, but you both are my family so you will at least get along in my presence. Got it?"

Draco gave her a salute as Harry gave her a scout's honor. "How about we go outside? You two can ride your brooms while I get some reading done."

"Why don't you join us? You can use Mother's broom."

Hermione shook her head. "No, I'd prefer both feet on the ground thank you." The boys just laughed as she stuck her nose up in the air. The trio quickly put on winter gear that had been charmed to keep the harsh cold at bay.
