Chapter 6. Sasha
Sasha relaxed on her bed, clinging onto a photo of her family. She looked at her mother, father, sister and pet chocolate Labrador in the picture. They all appeared to be filled with happiness on that sunny day. She remembered how ten years seemed to pass by so suddenly; how was it that twenty eight years had gone by so quickly?
'I graduated from Highschool on that Spring afternoon. My sister was twenty. That had been before...before everything went to hell.'
Memories of how disease had claimed her sister's life spread throughout her mind like wildfire. She recalled that somehow this strange agent met with her on the street, asking if she wouldn't mind bringing her sister along. He claimed that he knew them both. He along with a group of other agents were watching them closely, laying in wait for an opportunity to help those who were sick. Claiming their intentions were benevolent.
"Please dear, if you so kindly wouldn't mind our assistance. There is still time for us to put forth our best effort in an attempt to save your beloved sister. I'm aware of how peculiar this may be seeing as how we're meeting in front of your residence, but please, allow me to help you."
Sasha only stood there in shock, casting her gaze drifting towards the house.
"I'll have to ask permission from my parent's. If-"
As she tried finishing her sentence, he put a cloth over her mouth, forcing her to lose consciousness. Just like that, in the light of day, he kidnapped not only her, but also broke into her house, taking her family as well.
Months of testing turned into years which then somehow turned into a decade. She had been the only one who had managed survival throughout the brutal course of ten years. These strange men put her through torture beyond her worst nightmares. They exposed her to diseases such as cancer, aids, the simplex herpes virus, and papilloma. Her sister's life had been claimed by esophagus cancer and after a year of testing, her parent's lives had both been taken. All that she had wanted was the same fate. Sasha wanted nothing more than to join them in the afterlife, yet instead, more suffering had been the only thing given to her.
She often wondered why their bodies had reacted so differently towards both the progenitor virus and control compound, but then she remembered how the agents informed her there to be a high chance none of them would make it...Only after she'd been captured and had asked what was going on multiple times, over the course of several months. They revealed how they blatantly lied to her from the start, only wishing to conduct tests for their own selfish reasons. She made her mind up upon waking from five years of slumber in that appalling facility, immediately after those painful memories flooded back into her mind. When it finally came down to it, she would discover who did this. Who the original source of not only her family's killer had been, but thousands of other peoples as well.
It was very clear to her that Marcus didn't seem human whatsoever, nor did anyone else; until she had encountered Sarene and Brutus. They were the only good people in her life now. Them and possibly the two female spies. And for that, for them putting forth their best effort to actually help end this awful killing cycle, she thanked them with her life. She knew her allies refused to stop searching until this tragedy was laid to rest. They wanted just as much closure as she did.
Just as a tear had fallen from Sasha's face and landed onto her pillow, the person she least wanted to see barged into her room without warning.
"Ahh Sasha my sweet, join us as we at last end your misery and suffering. You wanted answers, and so in return you shall receive them. We're going to fetch Brutus as well. On this night, we will have embarked on an unforgettable journey. But don't fret, you'll all survive this so long as you maintain an open mind and a very relaxed demeanor."
Sasha carelessly stepped onto the floor, put her shoes on and followed wherever it was that this lunatic would lead them to.
