Sakura giggled excitedly, she was the first at the bridge and she could see Sasuke further down the path

"He's here and Naruto's not in sight, yatta time alone for me and Sasuke again" she giggled. She's talking to herself again, Sasuke thought to himself sighing.

"Wheres Naruto?" he asked casually as soon as he was within her ears range. Sakura slumped down in disappointment

"…Oh he's not here yet…but it's nice that we get to spend some time together" she said suddenly cheering up, staring at him hopefully.

"That moron's always late" said Sasuke staring ahead ignoring her. The inevitable awkward silence followed, Sakura had learnt her attempts at conversation would be ignored over the months they had been a team, so she just appreciated the time she got to spend alone with Sasuke, justifying it as ok because when you're really good friends with someone you don't have to talk all the time, just being together was enough. The silence was finally broken by the familiar voice of Naruto.

"Hey Sakura-chan and…Sasuke…-CHAN" he said smugly thinking he had just delivered the greatest insult he could have. Sasuke pulled his typical smug face, as he replied with a simple yet affective mention of Naruto's poor skills as a ninja. It was the second he saw Naruto from down the path that his eyes would light up and look happy, for just that one second, his eyes never looked so expressive and carefree when he saw her. Sakura hated him for it, why did he look at Naruto with such kind eyes, yet never make eye contact with her! She punched Naruto

"Don't you dare talk to Sasuke-kun like that!" always she would yell the same thing, yet really deep down inside it wasn't the insults that inspired her attacks, it was her jealousy.

When they were training She would watch Sasuke, try to copy his moves exactly so she could be as good as him, so she could impress him and catch his eye. Yet as always he would be looking at Naruto when their eyes made contact he'd always look smug and tell him he was failing as always, yet as his back would turn, he watched him with the same warm eyes, willing him to succeed to prove his harsh comments wrong. She had thought nothing of the glances Sasuke had given Naruto at first, but the more she thought about it, the more she realised and the more she tried to deny it.

She thought back to the bridge in the mist, and when she discovered why Sasuke nearly died, he had saved Naruto, he held Naruto before his own life, he respected Naruto. Did he respect her? Would he do the same for her? She was afraid, she wanted to be with Sasuke more than anyone in the world, but he only seemed to show a fondness of Naruto, while he ignored her existence. Of course she wouldn't give up that easily she wouldn't loose Sasuke to anyone, he would look at her with those same warm eyes one day.
