Chapter 25
Thanks to the GPS-chip in her watch, Anri Souma (girls #16) witnessed the massacre happened in zone I6 in that forenoon. Many red spots vanished one after the other from the virtual map. The last one wiped them out in a moment and after finishing its work, left the crime scene hastily. That was enough reason for Anri to make sure of that, that nobody could be trusted anymore. Those people in there, in I6, Kirika and her gang became victims of an unexpected attack. Or was there anybody, who died by the hand of a trusted friend?
Anri started to be haunted by doubts as regards her own abilities.
If the student who left the villa finished the girls off alone… Meeting with that person would not be a lucky go. Professional killer… or just got some kick-ass weapons… he or she might stole something from the victims (they did not need them anymore)… If Anri met that kid (she was sure about to be a boy), she would not be the winner.
Anri shook her head perplexedly. She had the perfect plan by now: staying away from the class for a while - that was also true on the soviets and animals - until she can calm down, regain her missing desire of victory, cold-blooded calmness and the most important thing: an easy and hard-hitting plan for the upcoming battles.
That was after the massacre in the villa, Anri stopped later somewhere east in the second game field, which seemed like an empty landscape; there was no sign any of the others.
She was maybe in zone C10… who cared about that right now, everybody had bigger problems than that. Everything went as she planned for a while, but suddenly, another red spot appeared in Anri's near - she had only one luck: she checked the map in every two seconds, so the presence of the other student was not really a surprise. Only a bit. So Anri tried to get far from the intruder, sad to say with a few success, the other spot acted like it would have got a GPS-chip in its watch, too. It was on the girl's track all along, she was incapable to hide. And, when she thought she was the one, who won, the bushes rustled together from the opposite direction.
Anri was deceived, running away from the danger seemed impossible. Until the faceless student turned around after all and went away of its own choice.
Anri sighed as a sign of relief. 'Heavens! That SOB almost got me! I… I almost died…'
Being aware of this, she felt like she was gone insane. Her thoughts became paranoid and were constantly spinning around killing and staying alive. Anri had such dark ideas in her head, what few of the most evil criminals had. 'There's nothing left to do against this game, we cannot fight against it! We have to kill! To crush, to squelch, to destroy! Only those will survive, who don't feel mercy, who are focusing only to themselves!'
She had no idea, when did she turn into such a psycho.
Moral, honor, self-devotion and other nice words, which sounds good from the mouth of Hollywood heroes, did not matter anymore, in reality good and bad could not be separated from each other. These conceptions did not exist: only the basic rules of the animal world called 'law of the jungle'. Where man is a wolf to men, the powerful and the most cunning wins and the weaker is treaded under. 'Like it almost did happen with me…'
Anri headed westwards with clouded mind and left this 3/e-free zone behind. As she rambled aimlessly, managed to calm down a bit, but could not stop wondering: what if my chaser had caught hold of me? After some time, enough far from any danger she took a nap in a hidden place by the foot of a huge cliff. Quite a tiring travel she made and her belly gave signals about being hungry. 'By the way, I'm thirsty. Last time I drank, it was early in the morning. I think I'm getting weak… Thus a good target for the biggers.'
Anri did not want to let that, but felt herself helpless, the thought made her extremely angry. It took some time until she gathered some strength and checked her watch. One, not, two classmates could be seen on the map in her near, in zone E8, and the GPS-chip was never wrong!
One of the students was located half kilometers far from the girl, while the other stood in the direction of the northeast, maybe within 200 meters. She was clever to choose this place after all, this little cave was as good for a hiding, like a shelter where she can start an attack from. Little cogs in Anri's brain bred a plan soon, as the girl was staring at the two red spots on the map.
'I let these two to tear each other apart and I will be the one who kills two birds with one stone.'
Anri had a look around in the dark forest – remember, it was nighttime – and keeping her only weapon close to herself, aka the pen with her own name, she decided not to use the built-in reflector. Thanks to her foolishness, the other valuable goods from the backpack had gone (like a meat chopper, some food and water), because she had overcome by temptation and hoping, that she could have a bath finally (a girl's basic need is but one occasion per day), went into the brook (the water she drank before). That was also the time, when another mysterious student had appeared and greeted the girl with a loud gunshot. The sound echoed far and Anri could thank her escape only for the exuberant vegetation right at the shore of the brook. To save her skin, she had to flee into the other direction, not that route, where she had left the backpack; feeling the hot air around the bullets as they were zipping into your ears seems to be a convincing reason to leave those things behind. Anri had not even dare to look back, like the attacker could kill her via eye contact. She had run and run through hills and woods.
Now Anri returned back to reality. She grabbed her pen and finally left the cliff behind. As preparing to the 'big action', she set her hair in order, using a plash as mirror.
'No matter what happens, for a pretty is required to remain always pretty!' thought the girl. She felt some thirst, but drinking from the splash (from that dirty splash!) was never an option. Anri got slowly nearer to that classmate, who was located 200 meters far from her cliff. She could hear talking through the spectacularly high-grown shrub and soon it turned out, that the classmate, another girl, was not speaking in herself.
What? Two people are there? Why did the GPS not show the other red spot? Anri became uncertain for a while, wanted to check the map on the watch again. 'Damn! Here's only one spot, actually why the hell are standing two chicks there?!'
"I try to hurry back! Keep your eyes open, okay?" A thin voice sounded, one of them seemed to leave.
"'Won't move from here." The other answered.
Would be funny if Anri could not recognize these voices: no doubt, these were Sonia Tenzai (girls #14) and Yaeka Sugiyama (girls #13). Clomping sound escorted Sonia's leaving, Yaeka sighed as an answer for remaining alone. Anri saw one spot seceding from the other and getting further and further; this was the perfect time to attack.
'Fuck me, everything's clear now!' she clapped her forehead. 'Man, if I don't zoom to certain zones, I see more spots next to one another as one single spot!'
She smiled on her own foolishness and continued nearing Yaeka, whose head slowly appeared behind a bush. Yaeka was sitting on a dead tree trunk and did some handwork, which she and a few others used to work on on school lessons. And to top it all, she crooned something, sounded like a traditional song they learned on music. Anri condemned these handwork hobbyists, but got used to them under these years. Still, she wondered: how the hell could Yaeka continue her everyday life like nothing had happened? Like they were in the middle of a picknick? This is what's not normal during such circumstances, not the killing!
Seeing all this, Anri was charmed, too; the compulsive terror and distress she had because of Moskvin's stupid game vanished in no time. Her mind, which was full with murderous thoughts some seconds ago, suddenly got empty. An average, NORMAL and happy memory slurred over it in a form of a distant feeling, what she grabbed now.
Anri Souma had mood to laugh. To laugh from her pure heart.
She would have given anything to keep this memory longer, but the horrible hour from yesterday returned back in a wink:
They realized, that they were in the middle of something, what only happens in horror stories… Moskvin with crazy shine in his eyes… Those disgusting things, the Terror Drones… the war bears, tearing Ben Ugaki apart… Fukashi Tenzai's head almost exploded from the headshot he got… Etsumi Inukai's desperate face in the time Anri gave the killing thrust into her throat… Isato Okumura's body full with flies… And many slaughtered body of their 'friends' she saw during her way. 'And… You were almost eliminated, don't forget that, girl!' Anri almost cried out from fright to dispel these nightmares. She must not care about anything but herself! Or else, she won't live through. She has to remain cold-blooded and calm, without feeling mercy and pity towards the classmates.
The girl found herself standing behind a bush, so Yaeka could easily notice her presence. She needed to kill Yaeka before Sonia returns back. As a sign of that, Anri caught sight of a pale, glittering something on Yaeka's side. Maybe that was her weapon…
Just like a blade… Long and curved, with a wooden grip. Oh, a sickle! The tool from the soviets' crest. Cool! No weapon could be more ideal for killing someone, this stuff fits for people's throat like a wonder! Noiseless death.
Anri was staring at the sickle so long, that after some time she heard a strange noise in her head. The sickle was calling her, speaking to her.
"Come, Anri! Seize me! Try me out! There's that blonde little girl for a start, whaddaya say?"
Although her hands were empty, she felt the wooden grip among her fingers. She took a small roundabout through the woods, but remained behind the bushes all along; thus she managed to end up behind Yaeka's back. It seemed Yaeka had no idea what was going on.
'Much easier for me.'
Crack! Suddenly a dry stick loudly crunched under her shoes. Small noise, but a long echo.
Anri stopped short like a statue. She listened carefully, because Yaeka stopped crooning.
'Am I detected?'
Anri usually remained calm in hot situations. Thinking about that she continued sneaking toward Yaeka, mainly, because she started to croon again.
'Well, there's a lot of thicket between me and her, no way, she has seen me!' to gain evidence, Anri had a look around in the dark forest.
Big trees with wide crown stood everywhere, while on the surface high bushes grew as a fortification of the nature. Anri made a small hole through the leaves, with that, she had a perfect view at Yaeka; only one single bush stood between them. Yaeka was sitting on that tree trunk with the sickle right in front of her eyes.
Some leaves from the bush sticked to Anri's long, dark hair. Her perfect head dress was gone, but it was not the time for dealing with such problems. First of all, she needed to acquire the sickle, then send Yaeka to God without her or someone else noticing.
Anri put her right hand in the bush, slowly and gently. She was blind now, she saw only with her fingers. A few seconds later she found the tree trunk and the wooden grip of the sickle. It felt so cold, that touching something warm and soft at the same time horrified the girl.
Skin! Yaeka's skin!
Anri could not control herself, she shouted and pulled her arm back. She wanted to run away immediately, did not want Yaeka to appear in her aurulent hair and cute, freckled face.
That's why Anri did not watch her steps, and some hardly seen roots hidden in the leaf-litter made her fall on the face. It was quick, as Yaeka, too; at the time Anri got back to her feet, the other girl was looking back at her.
Yaeka had the sickle in her hands, Anri almost heard it speaking: 'You didn't use me, right? Alas, now I will be YOUR end!' She froze from helplessness and waited for something to happen with closed eyes.
"Why, Souma!" it seemed, that Yaeka had no intention to attack her. Anri opened her eyes and looked deeply into the other's blue iris. Yaeka did not used the weapon, but also had not lowered it.
"No, you aren't the type..." Anri whimpered, while she heightened her arm to defend herself.
"What type?"
"You… don't wanna kill me, do you?" she asked like a defenseless little girl. Yaeka stared at her for a long time, when noticed Anri's fright from the sickle. So she hid it quickly behind her back.
"No way! When did I hurt someone? Okay, I said sometimes 'I kill 'em!' but it wasn't serious!"
Soon they were sitting together at the tree trunk and Yaeka told her story: she said, that Sonia joined her not long ago and they were up to find Asuya or other boys and girls, who were not out of their mind. To be honest, Anri did not understand a single word and it was not, because the other - who was superb in foreign languages anyway - changed into German or something; Anri was sitting deep in thoughts and considered her chances. Maybe it was not too late to kill Yaeka… with her ultimate weapon…
That was the minute Yaeka finished speaking, and looked like she was waiting. For an answer maybe, she might asked a question. To solve the situation, Anri said in complaining voice.
"Oh, Yaeka, you cannot imagine how much I hit the roof! As we got that message about solo-game, Norito wanted me dead! I could barely escape! After that, I met only bodies of the others! Breathless shells! It was horrible! Horrible! I don't want to end like this, we were friends, dammit! I don't get it, why did we betray one another?! I'm so afraid!" her face reflected sorrow and desperation, then she started to cry.
It was all acting of course, but she did the role so genuinely, that every movie director from Hollywood would have snatched at her with two hands. This performance confused Yaeka, the girl took a few steps back from Anri. She got down to her knees and followed Yaeka like that.
"You believe me, aren't you?" she asked desperately and made her hand praying. It was quite an odd situation, Yaeka surely did not understand anything.
"I… I don't consider you as my enemy." she answered.
"Really?" Souma stopped the acting-cry.
"Yup." Yaeka nodded "Come, let me help you!"
This time Anri did not refuse the offer and let Yaeka to help her up.
"Oh, Yaeka! Thank you! I can't say, how much I… I knew you have a pure heart!" thanked Anri. „What did I think… you as a participant in this goddamn game!"
"Yeah, yeah, you're welcome." Yaeka answered hastily "You know, you have nothing to fear. You can stop now. This innocent little girl attitude isn't your style, I liked the old Anri better." She said to bring some funny moments to these sad times, but Anri became angry.
Soon they found themselves opposite to each other: one with a sickle in her hands and the other without anything to defend herself. That was the time, Anri had a risky plan.
By grabbing Yaeka's arm, in which she had the sickle, pulled it out of the way and hugged her. Yaeka seemed confused, but hugged back, they stood in a way like that for a while. Anri felt warmness coming from Yaeka's body, as noticed one more thing: the girl was not even shivering at all. Yaeka was not afraid. 'How can it be? Is she become from a prissy top-girl to a madcap who has great hunger for killing? In my current situation, Yaeka can easily stab me in the back…'
Anri jostled the classmate out of the way, a bit harder than she intended, then asked in shaking voice.
"Aren't you worried at all? Im shivering like dry leaves in the autumn wind, and you seem totally OK!"
Yaeka shrugged the shoulders.
"I didn't hurt anyone nor committed anything to feel myself guilty. I have nothing to fear, I can rest when the time comes. You know, only the sinners should have had doubts in their end. But I can tell you that, I was a bit reeled by your little action."
Well, well, Yaeka was scared after all. Did not want to say out openly, but she thought, Anri could not be trusted. 'I will never have her full trust. Sorry, girl, you have to die!'
"Tell me Yaeka… I… did you feel me shivering?" Anri asked with acted uncertainty.
"'Dunno… I didn't watch that." answered Yaeka a bit later.
"I didn't hurt anyone, either." Anri lied immediately "You just… put a flea in my ear, you know…"
"It was just a quote, it's normal when you fear."
"Tell me… could you hug me once again, please?"
Yaeka stared at her with rounded eyes.
"I only want to know that I am shivering or not!" came the answered in a slightly commanding tone. Both of them remained silent for a few seconds, then Yaeka said:
"Fine."
This time Anri hugged her with an uncertain movement. Yaeka seemed calm again. She let Yaeka go with the left hand and searched after her name-pen in the pocket of her skirt. At last she found it and was only a single movement to rise the pen up to Yaeka's neck. In such a dark nighttime the other girl saw nothing from that.
"Well? What do you think?" asked Anri.
Something came as an answer, but she did not comprehend those words, she was focusing so hard to find the perfect thrusting-spot through Yaeka's stream of golden hair. Seconds later she found a spot, now only had to do the final hit. She even imagined a red, flashing cross to Yaeka's neck. 'Here you are, Yaeka! Here comes nothing!'
But before she could act, a loud call was coming from behind them, therefore Yaeka pushed Anri away from herself.
"Murderer! Murderer! Souma is a fucking killer! Don't listen to her! Stay away!"
Anri dropped the pen from the fright, leastwise no one noticed that.
"Don't dare touching Yaeka, you bloody bitch! Leave her alone! Criminal! Heartless slut!"
Somebody was standing barely ten meters from them, who had gleaming eyes in the dark. Who wore white waist and black skirt, and these clothes were not suit her at all. Recognizing Ayami Horigoshi (girls #17) in the shadows, Anri realized, that her attack on Yaeka was blindfold. She did not take the environment in account. Sonia was also a separate dot on the GPS, she could return in any minute. 'But please… Ayami is a common whore! Since when does she have good relationship with such good girls like Yaeka and her team?!'
Maybe Ayami saw something, what she should not have had, maybe witnessed one of her actions, which ended with death.
Unfortunately, Anri did not have the power to turn back time, but still had some chance to make things work. For example, if she wrings Ayami's neck, her secret remains a secret.
"What did you call me?! What are you talking about?" so she yelled back to Ayami. Yaeka seemed puzzled as she turned her look from one classmate to the other.
"What's going on?" she asked. Meanwhile, she took a few steps backward from Anri. Anri saw that, and became more furious – though, she tried to hide it.
"Why the hell are you here, Horigoshi?! You came to dump on me, right? That's your style, you can't stop this even in such circumstances!" answered Anri to Ayami. "Sod off!"
"I won't until you're here, I'm not letting you fool Yaeka! Once she turns her back on you, you're going to kill her!" said Ayami. "I remember your magical pen!"
'She knows about my pen. Shit… this bitchy had really seen something…'
"Now you're incriminating me?!" That was the last drop, Anri really wanted to get rid of Ayami. She began walking toward the girl with clenched hands, she looked insane with the dark grimace on her face.
Ayami's eyes rounded. That was the time she aimed a semi-automatic Sig Sauer to Anri.
"Take another step and I'll shoot you!"
Anri stopped moving, she could not hide her feelings anymore. The fright, the anger, the will to live, everything glinted on her face. Time went so slowly, like it would have been a snake. Yaeka just stared at the two girls and remained in silence, she was unable to decide, who to believe. Well, both of them are plaza bitches.
Ayami did not seem the one, who wants to shoot. And what's more, her forehead was all of a sweat under the moonlight. The quiet. It was awkward. And suspicious of course. Does she have some bullets in that gun?
"Go on, shoot!" she said to Ayami "Let's check if you have bullets!"
Ayami blenched with terror, her whole body swam in sweat under the uniform. It was equivalent to a confession, so Anri hesitated no more. She wanted to catch Ayami, but the girl did not wait, she dashed the empty gun immediately against Anri, who skillfully evaded it.
The hare and hounds game had begun.
Ayami disappeared in the wilderness, Anri followed her. As they ran deeper and deeper in the woods, shades and fog surrounded them between the impassable leaves. In such darkness Anri could see only small white parts of Ayami's uniform, the black skirt and her long, brown hair faded into the color of the nature. Five minutes passed… ten minutes…
Then Ayami suddenly vanished.
Anri had a big, old willow-tree in the way, its long, curtain-like branches hid everything from sight. No matter, that she tried to keep the ears open or had a careful look around, there were not any noises of cutting the way through bushes, nothing. If Ayami had not fly away from here, Anri had no idea, how did that happen. 'Oh, crap! This damn tree is the worst thing can stand in my way right now! If that little harpy gets away, she can turn everyone against me!'
"Anri, you idiot!" she cursed in herself. How could she forgot that! The GPS chip!
She worked so fast, like the wristwatch would be made of fire. During the times she spent here in nowhere, she gained some routine by displaying the map of the game field. This time Anri was focusing only on her own zone: by zooming to F8, the results were quite surprising.
The spot, which belonged to Ayami was not on the move at all, the computer showed it in Anri's near. Moreover, it was right next to Anri's!
The two spots were almost at the same place, but in real Anri seemed to be alone around there. Ayami could be underground, or in a tree. 'The tree seems reasonable.'
Anri made an evil grin. 'Poor little girl! She has no idea, what kind of weapon aunt Anri has! Such a crybaby, my bare hands are enough to do her in!'
She came nearer to the tree, and now their dots almost fused together. She started to examine the leaves, but saw nothing, the branches grew thick and there were many clouds on the sky, which ones covered the moon for long minutes. No hope to catch sight of Ayami. 'Damn! Like the nature would have taken pity on that slut! She might trembles with fear and pray for me to finally go away! But I've waited enough. It's time to shoot the bunny.' Anri thought and took a deep breath.
"Come down, Horigoshi! There's no point in hiding, I know you're there!"
Silence came as an answer.
"You can't run away! Wherever you go, I'll be right behind you!" Like Anri would speak to herself.
"And you know why? There's a GPS chip in my watch! I hope I don't have to explain what does that mean, you may not be that blonde! This is what I got as a weapon…"
She sounded cheerful and whenever she was thinking about Ayami's astonished face, had a wide smile.
"I don't have anything else, see for yourself!"
Now she trenched the arms and patted her skirt to prove her right. Finally, Ayami peeped out from the leaves. Her light blue eyes now loomed in grey, and were full with fear.
"See? I'd like to prove, that I'm innocent. Maybe I'm not a good-girl, but it doesn't mean I'm a cruel person." Anri continued. "You talked like you witnessed someone's death by my hands, what is a nonsense of course…"
She had a deep sigh before speaking further:
"I know I fucked up things not long ago… I had to be more friendly, not that rude. But you can admit, you were also harsh."
Ayami groaned, because she was not able to say a single word. When she started speaking, she was as malevolent as before.
"You're lying! I've found Inukai's body with a tiny hole in the neck! It's a trace of a pen! No doubt, you're the murderer! You were the only one in the class, who always had a big talk about your pen, that you keep it in your socks! I know your kind well! You act like a saint while having something else in your mind!"
'Look, who's talkin'…' Anri almost said out, but wanted Ayami to come down. She tried to have a face as long as a fiddle.
"What have I done, that nobody trusts me?" – and action! The famous actor in Anri's soul came to life again, "Just, because I live in a foster home and have nothing I can call mine?! People think that I don't know my parents, I can't be honest and can't have a good heart?!"
It looked like she started weeping with her face in the palms, but in real, she grinned.
"Nobody… nobody… nobody trusts in me…" she repeated these words without interruption.
At first Ayami thought, that Anri Souma was out of her mind. No, she simply could not feel sorry for her, but… a silent voice in her head asked: what if, she tells the truth this time?
'Nah!' Ayami shook her head. 'No way, she's an ultimate liar!'
'But, what if she's not?'the inner voice did not let itself to be kept under. 'Don't forget, why did you returned to Yaeka!'
'Truth to say, we couldn't stand each other at the beginning, when we were partners.'
Thanks to this weird conversation, she remembered why she wanted to find Yaeka.
Ayami left the girl immediately after the solo-SMS, because she could not bear her presence. Always listening to Yaeka's holy-jaw, fulfilling orders and to top it all, Yaeka did not let her rest anytime she felt herself tired.
"Sure, let's have a break at every bush! If you hadn't skip PE lessons you would be in a much better condition!" Yaeka shook the head, grabbed her classmate at her arms and trailed along.
Of course that was the time, when Ayami had to refresh her makeup, felt urgent need to check her hair-do, her nails broke down, her lips became dry and her feet hurt in those tight shoes. And these were the least of Ayami's cares, right after 'I want my parents!' and 'I wanna go home!'. Ayami complained through the way and as much as she could not feel her limbs, the more she used her mouth. Sometimes the inner voice reminded her, that she would not go that far without Yaeka and the girl was down on her, because wished her well, not because she's a tyrant.
'I think there is something strange in Yaeka, something strange in a pleasant way. Some kind of an angelic aura. You feel like there's still hope, and there will be always.'
Least of all Ayami understood, why she were thinking like that. In school she reckoned all this as cheesy shit and would have said with a wave of her hand: 'Yeah, you're right, just shut up already!' But now, as they were in a constant danger and had to run day and night, Ayami realized, no, matured to understand the deepest meaning of these words. She learned how to trust. Unconditionally. 'Yaeka said, to avoid confrontation people need absolute trust. We have to be careful sometimes, but being hostile openly will result the same reaction from others. We have to show that we don't want to do anything bad, she said. Many from the class accepted to play this game, because they refused trying to trust the rest. They chose to blame one another instead: this one will surely attack me! What is enough for one of us to start violence, which almost produce more violence and thus the machinery of chaos starts up and hell breaks loose…'
Ayami made her decision.
Anri Souma still grizzled under the willow-tree. Only a few minutes had passed, though it felt like hours.
"Okay, I'm going down." Ayami said dauntlessly.
Anri rose up her head slowly and could not stop staring at her direction. Like she questioned, what she was currently seeing. And what? That plaza chick could not even climb up a tree, and now she had landed in the soil in no time. Ayami cleaned the skirt from the dust and leaves, then looked back at Anri.
"I'm glad you believe me." stammered Anri.
"From now on we stick together and will find a solution to escape!" answered Ayami. "Let's go back to Yaeka! Don't worry, I'll handle her!"
"I don't know…" Anri hesitated.
"What's the matter? You don't want Yaeka to join us?"
So, Ayami had no idea about Sonia, better not to mention that.
"Not that, just… if we gather more and more…" she explained. "We have a higher chance that someone's going to kill us during our sleep! Two or more can easily team up against the rest, until someone would notice! Believe me, better to be in pairs or in a trio. Everything is so unpredictable, mainly when all of us are under pressure!"
Ayami turned her back on Anri and looked back at the tree, to the place, where she have found peace.
"You can trust Yaeka, I assure you! I couldn't get this far without her." she said. As an answer, she noticed great silence. No waft, no noise from the animals.
"Anri? You're there?" she tried to turn around, but Anri was faster.
Ayami felt shrewd pain in her head, like thousands of combs would have pulled her hair. The pain became unbearable quickly, Ayami screamed and tried to hit the attacker.
"No! Why are you doing this?! I thought I can… AH!"
"I fooled you, you bitch!" laughed Anri and pulled Ayami's hair even stronger. She tried to send the girl to grass, but Ayami was way too tall.
Thanks to an aboveground root, Ayami fell on her face. Accidentally managed to kick Anri, who felt the taste of blood in her mouth. There was no time for such pause, she immediately hurled herself at Ayami. They started to tussle. They rolled further and further from the tree, when suddenly Ayami stopped yelling and throwing herself about. Anri saw, that she bumped her head on a big rock, which had a sharp edge.
Ayami was bleeding.
Anri also saw, that they ended up in a place filled with stones and pebbles in various size. There were small, smooth ones, but also sharp stones, too, which were enough big to smash someone's head. For example Ayami's.
Anri Souma took such a stone without hesitation, its sharp end was over Ayami's chest.
'First the bitter goodbye.' she thought in herself and said aloud:
"Murderer, eh? Yeah, you can call me that! Better to be a murderer than a victim, I don't think you would choose the second! Haha, it's too late for you, you were a sloppy idiot! And know what? In this race, yes, it is a fight for survival, only killers can win!"
That was the last sentence mong the leaves, next she started to strike with the sharp stone. Everything happened within seconds: Anri's hand suddenly stopped and she dropped the stone. None of the girls had any idea what was going on, Anri did not even have time to pull an astonished face. She was dead by now.

Anri Souma eliminated
